@Gamine I was taught thatI was taught same, as well as that if you had any "sin" at all ,you would be in danger too. But I have learnt differently. You see, while the Bible is the Word of God, no arguements, it is also an account of real people. Esp, the new testament letters were addressed by paul(largely) to the different churches on matters of everyday life, doctrines and sometimes "traditions" of church. In that light, I want to invite you to study the verses preceding the one that reads that we should not partake of the communion unworthyly. It will show you how that the people in that church seemingly came to church to eat and drink in the name of communion. It also appears that they not only abused that practice as such but they were gluttonious about it. so Paul set out a letter to warn them to eat at home before coming to church and to behave orderly in the communion service. please read it for your self bearing this in mind. Concerning footwashing & oil for anointing, I absolutely agree that these are Bibilical though not necessarily prerequisite. Its not done in my church, but I don't see the harm. I believe that God had a reason for allowing us a glimpse of the working of the early church. they are for doctrine, and unity of worship and should not be rejected in the church today. And oh, It's not that Fifi. @JeSoul Taking it for an unworthy purpose (for example like you mentioned Gamine, to get wealth or some kind of material favor)I am sorry, but I don't believe that exactly qualifies as taking it for unworthy purposes, do you realise, my friend, that the word of God is there to show us how to live the life we have been called to live? The supernatural life of an overcomer?. Perhaps the pastors don't say it right, but I think what they are trying to say is that when we take the holy communion, we take time to reflect on the contents of the "salvation package" Christ purchase with his blood for us. In that sense, a pastor is right in guiding your mind to all the things God has promised because ours is a "look and live" kind of life. So, for instance when you hear that when "men say there's a casting down, our testimony is that "there is a lifting up", and you take communion in that knowledge, you don't expect less and your faith is worked up to meet what ever challenge you are facing;financial or otherwise, with abundance. In that way, I guess we can say it has some "powers" ,to quote Gamine, afterall,Knowledge is power. On a lighter note, I agree some of them sound like its some bonanza or freebie, or something! ![]() Hope I have helped. Blessings! |
Hi all. |
@Gamine, I thank God for you. Question: How can we enrich and sustain our walk with the Lord? What are the challenges and blessings (with practical examples)? What have you learnt in your walk with God? Let's all share.let me share an experience with y'all: once I felt God asking me to go and tell a certain man of God that He had asked me to be a resource person for the writing of a book about "understanding prophesy". you see this MOG had had some mind blowing experiences that God said He wanted him to leave with this world , I mean, I felt very strongly about being sent but I was so timid about the whole thing( because this man was B.I.G!) that I just couldnt. Then I had a vivid dream about his passing without me doing the assignment,I was so upset in the dream and was weeping until I woke up. somehow I got more serious and started writing a proposal and developing the book contents. Those days were awesome, I just got lost in doing that work. Somehow or another, again, I got admission to go to law school that year, so I said to my self, "once I am done, I am going to get involved in this project." Well, the day I called my mom to announce my success at Bar Finals, I was dashed to be told the sad news of his passing. It was terrible and I can't think about the whole thing without feeling so bad! So, it's always been challenging for me hearing God & moving to do as I am told, and I just don't know how come but He tries to lead me all the time. I am learning to just trust God as He leads and to believe in His leading even when I sometimes wonder why, why me, how will they believe me, will it work, etc? That's it then- trust & obey! JeSoul, Analytical, I feel you guys. Blessings! |
It's not hard to do, they just get married again.Exactly, from the top! ![]() |
@Analytical If the two remarry themselves, they will only be putting right their wrong. But do they really have to 're-marry'? All they need to do is to annul the divorce, though I don't know the legality involved in that. You right abt that, found the answer in 1 cor 7:10-11 And thanks, and thanks for starting this fellowship, this is one of the things it does; i mean driving us to ask questions, search for answers, or just listen and learn from others, and LEGALLY, they cannot have the divorce 'annuled' cos only marriage can be annuled by a decree of divorce, u get right? Blessings! |
@Gamine, good to know yu good now. no shaking, the foundatin is Christ. ppl, I wrote this poem for ya all, or is it just a thot? WALKING WITHOUT It's a long road when you are walking alone, going; no where, everywhere, any way It's a dull day without the light which Jesus shines; in your way, every day, all the way! Blessings! |
Hi everyone, Its always wonderful being in here with you all, and thanks pilgrim.1 for the prayers and all. Still expecting your e-mail. Daruche, hope you got mine, everyone else, I've missed your views and uplifting lots, and may be away for some days or so afternow, but as always I will be looking forward to whenever I can come here. Well, I see we are talking divorce now, so let me plunge right in. Since the issue is that the couple are already divorced, I really don't see what we can do for them, except perhaps keep praying that the light of God's word will illuminate their path and show them how wrong their option has been. But if they re-marry,does that cover the first sin? can someone tell me?am really pondering that. Today though, we should ask ourselves how did we get to this point? I mean it has become alarming how the courts are churning out these divorce papers. Its almost like its fashionable & "wonderfully western"!I have a friend too, he's only 29 and he's been married twice already! But we know what God's word gives only two exemptions. I believe the problem is that individuals & churches have compromised the word. Its like, its bad sha but, , maybe the churches should do more than pre-counseling for marriage. maybe we christians should actually begin to pray, not just for the couples but for the institution of marriage, casting down every thing that has exaulted itself above the knowledge of God ( because marriage is the wisdom of God, He said it is not good for the man to be alone.) Why don't we here pick a time to intercede, do something, who knows maybe He is looking for men & women to stand in the gap in this country. we might just be the ones available. What do y'all say? I can do with some prayers. Analytical Hope it is well with you? I will be praying for you, brother. Blessings! |
Happy week ppl, Share this e-mail The Teacup There was a couple who used to go to shop in the beautiful stores. They both liked antiques and pottery and especially teacups. One day in this beautiful shop they saw a beautiful teacup. They said, "May we see that? We've never seen one quite so beautiful." As the lady handed it to them, suddenly the teacup spoke. "You don't understand," it said. "I haven't always been a teacup. There was a time when I was red and I was clay." My master took me and rolled me and patted me over and over and I yelled out, "let me alone", but he only smiled, "Not yet." "Then I was placed on a spinning wheel," the teacup said, "and suddenly I was spun around and around and around. Stop it! I'm getting dizzy!" I screamed. But the master only nodded and said, 'Not yet." Then he put me in the oven. I never felt such heat. I wondered why he wanted to burn me, and I yelled and knocked at the door. I could see him through the opening and I could read his lips as He shook his head, "Not yet." Finally the door opened, he put me on the shelf, and I began to cool. "There, that's better," I said. And he brushed and painted me all over. The fumes were horrible. I thought I would gag. "Stop it, stop it!" I cried. He only nodded, "Not yet." Then suddenly he put me back into the oven, not like the first one. This was twice as hot and I knew I would suffocate. I begged. I pleaded. I screamed. I cried. All the time I could see him through the opening nodding his head saying, "Not yet." Then I knew there wasn't any hope. I would never make it. I was ready to give up. But the door opened and he took me out and placed me on the shelf. One hour later he handed me a mirror and said, "Look at yourself." And I did. I said, "That's not me; that couldn't be me. It's beautiful. I'm beautiful." "I want you to remember," then, he said, "I know it hurts to be rolled and patted, but if I had left you alone, you'd have dried up. I know it made you dizzy to spin around on the wheel, but if I had stopped, you would have crumbled. I knew it hurt and was hot and disagreeable in the oven, but if I hadn't put you there, you would have cracked. I know the fumes were bad when I brushed and painted you all over, but if I hadn't done that, you never would have hardened; you would not have had any color in your life. And if I hadn't put you back in that second oven, you wouldn't survive for very long because the hardness would not have held. Now you are a finished product. You are what I had in mind when I first began with you." ******** God knows what He's doing (for all of us).He is the Potter, and we are His clay. He will mold us and make us, So that we may be made into a flawless piece of work To fulfill His good, pleasing, and perfect will. |

@Debolay Praise Jesus. @Easyy Hey there, I think I have found what I thot was not quite fitting into the picture with that scipture you quoted from 2 Thes.2 You see, it occured to me that why would God allow the unsaved to be decieved, afterall the scriptures declare that He wishes above all all men should come to repentance & not perish. Again, scripture says that signs are actually for the unsaved, & to confirm the word[mark 16:20, John 20:31] Background to 2 Thes 2 The church in Thes had become restive about the coming again of the Lord, some even thot it had already occured. So Paul,Silvanus & Timothy wrote to them explaining the things that must happen before the coming back of Jesus Christ. For its clarity, I will reproduce it as it appears in the AMP, with one very relevant footnote to further aid understanding. As you read, please note carefully, that this scripture refers to the time of the antichrist and to his works .When it speaks of the coming of the son of perdition,ie the anti-christ, it infers that he will openly declare himself to be God Almighty, and command that men worship him as God. It is safe therefore to say that he (together with his followers ,perhaps) will perform these lying signs in his own name, marveling many. Those unsaved at the time will tend to believe his testimony ( they say seeing is believing!) and Paul says in another place, that even the elect will be in danger of being tricked into believing.[mark 13:22] Now, 2 Thes 2:1-12 AMP *added by me But relative to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ( the Messiah) and the gathering together to (meet) Him, we beg you brethen, 2 Not to allow your minds to be quickly unsettled or disturbed or kept exicited or alarmed, whether it be by some (pretended) revelation of the Spirit or by word or by letter (allerged to be ) from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has (already) arrived and is here.3 Let no one decieve or beguile you in any way, for that day will not come except the apostacy comes first (unless the predicted great falling away of those who have professed to be Christians has come), and the man of lawlessness (sin) is revealed, who is the son of doom (of perdition),[]4 Who opposes and exalts himself so proudly and insolently against and over all that is called God or is worshiped, (even to his actually) taking his seat in the temple of God*(not in the church, as it were, but in the temple in Jerusalem) 5 Do you not recollect that when I was still with you, I told you these things? 6 And now you know what is restraining him(from being revealed at this time); it is so that he may be manifested (revealed) in his own (appointed) time.7 For the mystery of lawlessness (that hidden Principe of rebellion against constitued authority) is already at work in the world,( but it is)restrained only until c he who restrains is taken out of the way. , 9 The coming( of the lawless one, the antichrist) is through the activity and working of satan and will be attended by great power and all sorts of (pretended)miracles and signs and delusive marvels-(all of them) lying wonders- 10 And by unlimited seduction to evil and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing (going to perdition) because they did not welcome the Truth but refused to love it that the might be saved. 11 Therefore God sends upon them a misleading influence, a working of error and a strong delusion to make them believe what is false*( I suppose this will happen because the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of grace, the Spirit of Truth, will be taken away then) 12 In order that all may be judged and condemned who did not believe in (who refused to adhere to, trust in, and rely on) the Truth, but(instead) took pleasure in unrighteousness. Footnote [c] Many believe this One Who restrains the antichrist to be the Holy Spirit, Who lives in all believers and will be removed with them at Christ's coming; yet a majority think it is the Roman Empire. Blessings! |
Bisi Olofinyo, I pray for you that the Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead will vitalize every ailing part of your body this minute,in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen. |
@Easyy Thank you for your temperance & I shall try to respond in the same spirit. You see, the way I understood your post is this- beware, lying wonder! was that your intention? now I doubt it, but I hope you get my point. @pilgrim.1 I appreciate your point, friend. Indeed, I know that some folks might have evil motives for doing these"wonders", some want recognision, some want fame, The scripture you quoted even says so at v.15: Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. I think the lesson here is that every work will be tried. See, the parable (analogy) of the wise and foolish builders that follows immediately.I believe there is a call here for the servants of God to keep a humble spirit and give only God the glory, because their works & motives will be tried in the end. So, I usually have this attitude to miracles that if you claim Jesus did it, well wonderful!praise God. When that day comes, will Jesus say to you 'I know you not ?' I can't say. At another place Jesus said, rejoice not that the spirits are subject to you, rather rejoice that your names are written in heaven. This certainly refers to the attitude of those whom God would use to wroth these miracles. Remember also the account in Luke 9:49-50? " Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbade him,, Jesus said: forbid him not for he that is not against us is for us" Let us christians not be the first to point to the down side. If the devil wants to shout 'praise the Lord!' , why not? Jesus be praised. However,I will look closely at 2 Thes.2 , something there has got my attention. will let you know soon. I love y'all. |
3. Love - This is one of the more painful reasons. He may have fallen out of love or may have fallen in love with someone else.Love, my friend, is a responsibility. @Ujujoan Some valid points there, gal. Especially; we suffer them, & why cant they suffer us some? |
@Raimond Thanks for sharing that. Our God is an awesome God. @Easyy The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, and in every sort of evil that deceivesQuestion: Is a miracle glorifying Jesus Christ evil, does it decieve? And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, 1 John 4:3 Simple test, if you ask me. |
Hi Olabowole, Let me admonish you in the words of Paul himself:Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. Col 2:8-9 Jesus is God. Now to the concerns you raised in yours; Why call me good, was his statement of caution to the woman who adulated him so highly! Jesus said further that the Only One who is Good is God, alone! This statement of Jesus is plain and direct enough that there should not be a need for intepretation or contextual reading! Where is the ambiquity in that speech of jesus that we would need more than human mind and understanding to get it?Having the fulness of the Godhead, Jesus had the ability to discern the motives & hearts of men. For instance notice how Jesus avoided the traps of the pharisees and saddusees whenever they questioned him, because he could discern their motives. I would like you to take time to read those scriptures again. Also, when he said concerning Nathaniel " behold,an isrealite in whom there is no guile!" john 1:47, yet again he knows which of his disciples would betray him. These are just few examples that come to my mind now. Is it any wonder therefore that Jesus should know the heart/motive of this man(By the way,it was the rich young man, not some woman who made the statement above.ie,if we are talking about the same thing, ofcourse) To be more precise, did you notice that the young man had a "goodness complex"? matt.19:16 He said, good master, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life? The way I see it, he was trying to associate with the goodness in Jesus, perhaps he wanted everyone to see & hear Jesus say how good he was, afterall what made him think he was lacking anything when he said in v.20, (the commandments) all these things I have kept fom my youth up: what lack I yet? v.21 Jesus said to him, if thou wilt be perfect, come follow me. I believe strongly that Jesus said to him that only God is good for a reason that is not immediately obvious to us. To show him how that he was very human indeed & not perfect, perhaps?Or that partaking in the divine nature of God is not a function of goodness?. Maybe this guy wanted Jesus to say, you're a perfect man,We will sit together in glory, eterrnal life confirmed, I just don't know!! But Jesus knew. If we examine Mark 12 verse 29, we will see that Jesus was making plain to everyone who wa in his eudience that they and he Jesus have the same Lord and God, who in this case One Lord! For all natural intents and purposes, Jesus personally declared that he is not that Lord and god! Why should anyone need to consult a ghost or spirit to understand this verse? The full text you have refered to here says something like this " hear O Isreal; The lord our God is one Lord: and thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul and all thy mind, and with all thy might" It seems to me that "one Lord" here is used in the sense of "one ruler, the only ruler, to whom you must give your undivided allergance, worsip and love." In any case, did you know that Jesus was quoting an old testament scripture? (Deut.6:4-5). So, in essence this cannot be seen as his attestation to his not being God. Indeed, we christians all know that there is only one God, revealed as God the Father, Son & the Holy spirit, without contradiction. This statement of Jesus is plain and direct enough that there should not be a need for intepretation or contextual reading! Where is the ambiquity in that speech of jesus that we would need more than human mind and understanding to get it?Finally, the Bible says " But the natural man recieveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned." 1Cor 2:14 We do not reason with our human minds, but with our spirit. I hope I have helped you. |

Share a Thot The Rich Young Man Matt 19:17-30 Hi y'all. I was reading the above passage and something caught my attention. Let me share it with you guys. Its the story of the rich young man who caught up with Jesus one day and asked him what he should do to inherit eternal life. He said that he had kept the commandment from his youth and wanted to know what was missing. So, Jesus tells him: v21, if thou will be perfect, go & sell that thou hast, & give to the poor, thou shall have treasure in heaven: & come and follow me. Do you notice what Jesus' reply actually is? Come follow me. The rest is really the how- He is saying in essence that keeping all the laws alone, or religiousness( goodness) will not save. But to follow, you need togive up certain strapping; matthew, peter gave up their careers, others walked away from family & family obligations. Notice also that Jesus takes the time to assure the RYM that what he would sell would not make him poor, he would not loose a thing. v.22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. What happens next is that the RYM goes away and refuses to follow Jesus because he wouldnt part with his "great possessions" v.23 Then Jesus said unto his disciles, verilu I say unto you: that a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. Then Jesus comments that it would be hard or dificult, not impossible, for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. Why, following Jesus is that way into the kingdom of God. v.27 Then peter said unto him, behold , we have forsaken all, & followed thee; what shall we have therefore? Now, peter asks a smart question at this point; though not having "great possessions" in the magnitue of the RYM's estate, each one of us has givenup some important thing to follow you. Tell us, what's the spiritual value of these things, are they too convertible into spiritual currency(heavenly treasures)? Again Jesus assures them that none of them would loose what ever they gave up to follow him. Finally, he sums up thus: v.30 But many that are first shall be last; & the last shall be first. In other words, though it may appear that one has much( by withholding) now, time will tell who is truely rich. I have come to the conclusion therefore, that it is not what you have but what you are willing to give up to be a true disciple. The problem is not that one has riches, the problem is withholding or clinging to those things we consider so dear. Please, add your comments. |
Oh, so great what y'all are doing here. Let me ask: is any one here intrested in writing christian/inspirational novels ? I am coming up with something. Please send me a blank mail at cml_wa@yahoo.co.uk, (that's an "underscore b/w cml & wa)and I will get back to you. God bless. |
Oprah Winfrey is a fantastic TV host.I agree with you. But you see, that's the problem. someone like Oprah has the ability to influence her adoring fans in a very subtle way. she may not even have set out to do so, btut like it or not, she does get across to lots of ppl. The fact that you created a thread to warn people about Oprah's exit from Christianity shows that you believe Oprah Winfrey's choices should be a model for your own.Everyone has a role model, shouldnt be any shame or blame in that. Yes,I think this tread is legit, if indeed thats all it is; a warning- afterall the Bible says that we should gaurd our hearts with all deligence, for out of it are the issues of life. I appreciate this person who posted this. I personally love Oprah's shows, but I will want to be careful what messages I allow into my heart even if it means I have to stop watching them. As long as she is not a devil worshipper, I don't care.Let me assure you that the devil sometimes disguises himself as an angel of light. its what the Bible says. My word would be, dont wait until someone grows horns or joins a satanic movement. Be careful. Thats all. |
