This is my first time of hearing about his father. He has always mentioned his mother, so I thought he had lost his father a long time ago.

Grabbing power and running with it is a different ballgame than delivering the goods.

Politics / Re: New Wage: NLC Proposes Sanctions For Defaulting Governors by fijihems: 9:50pm On Apr 22
I wonder how this new minimum wage will work when some private businesses are closing down and many are struggling just to break even.
Business / Re: 1 Dollar Is Now ₦‎1,070 by fijihems: 9:15pm On Apr 13
I hope and pray that the dollar crashes further. Naira was worth a lot more than the dollar when it was equal to the pound sterling.
TV/Movies / Re: Should I Return This Tv... 1.1m Wasted by fijihems: 9:29pm On Mar 28
I bought 36 Hisense televisions for my business four years ago. I have only had problems with four of them and the screens could not be found anywhere. So I had to replace them with LG TVS. Otherwise they have been very good products.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Third Class Graduates: How Do You Feel When Denied A Job Due To Class Of Degree by fijihems: 12:03am On Mar 24
In Nigeria everything is big deal. Even to lecture in the university, they expect applicants to have a doctorate degree. However, in the UK, it's common to have even people with first degree teaching in the universities, provided they have relevant work/field experience. Lecturers with doctorates are not so common as in Nigeria.

Nawaroooo, our over sabi don too much. We sabi pass the people wey sabi pass us.

We need a proper reassessment and reorientatation of our educational system, with greater emphasis on field/work experience instead of higher degrees.

Politics / Re: A Soldier Challenges IPOB To A Fight In The East (Video) by fijihems: 4:46pm On Mar 22
I see this as a trap to lure the IPOD into a fight, so the army will invade a whole community and kill everyone and burn down every building in the community. Nobody should fall for such a trick.
Travel / Re: Which Country Can 10m Take Me To In This Present Economy by fijihems: 5:49pm On Mar 16
I believe that N10 million would be enough to set up a good business in Nigeria, which can make you comfortable in a short time.

Not everyone who travelled abroad is successful.

Politics / Re: Proposed Minimum Wage By NLC Across Geopolitical Zones by fijihems: 10:51pm On Mar 07
The right step to take is to strengthen the value of the naira instead of making everyone a millionaire with currency that is worthless. Besides, increasing the salaries of workers in Nigeria more than tenfold will cause a situation of hyperinflation, which will totally erode the purchasing power of the naira, thereby making the workers to be worse off economically. The lasting solution lies in strengthening the naira and reducing the prices of commodities, particularly food items. There is no economic sense in increasing the salaries of workers twenty fold, thereby ridiculing the naira. I am surprised that the government is even thinking in this direction. I am really afraid for this country and the so called advisers to the government. Imagine a situation where everyone is a millionaire and the price of every commodity starts in thousands of naira.

This is a flawed pattern of thought. Your kids have their own lives, their own path. Children are not a pension plan.

Your kids deserve all the good and guidance to become a better person

Nobody should depend on their children. I have personally trained all my children in the UK where they were born and are all working as graduates, but I don't expect anything from them.

Travel / Re: Lagos-New York Flight Price Throwback: This Was Nigeria. What Do You Think Now? by fijihems: 7:25pm On Jan 14
I travelled with student's ticket with Nigeria Airways to London Heathrow for one hundred and something naira in the 80s for a return ticket. There was no need for an entry visa to visit the UK. Visa was issued at the airport on arrival. All that was required was to show the immigration authorities that you have some money for shopping. Usually £200 was sufficient. £200 was equal to N200 by then. See where we are today.
Travel / Re: Lagos-New York Flight Price Throwback: This Was Nigeria. What Do You Think Now? by fijihems: 7:12pm On Jan 14
I used to travel to London Heathrow in the early 80s with about N200 (two hundred naira something). I can't remember the actual amount, but it was not up to N300 (three hundred naira) for a return ticket with Nigeria Airways.

You are calling someone who is greater than your whole generation Oloshi, abi you no one the meaning of Oloshi ni?

Nobody is great except God who lives forever and ever. Everyone is going down below six feet to be eaten by termites. So, never be so naive to refer to someone who can be here today and is gone by tomorrow as being great or even greater than a whole generation. That's stupid and hero worshipping.

When will our leaders start to take responsibility for their failures? It's a recurrent experience for every leader to either blame the predecessor(s) or some sort of cabals.
Romance / Re: U.K. Based Lady In Shock After White Man Asked To Split Bills On A Date (Video) by fijihems: 12:52pm On Dec 10, 2023

She thought that her waist beads a.k.a. ileke idi will work on the oyinbo man like it does on the Nigerian men whose destinies have been locked in prisons in the marine kingdom.

In the past, waist beads was common among Northerners, villagers or local girls, and aṣewo. Almost all women of all culture, tribe and status now wear waist beads. It was not so before. Even sophisticated Christian women, Yoruba and Ibo women now wear it.

It has become so rampant nowadays that about 18 out of 20 women have it on their waist.

Men/boys will say "I cannot marry or date or have sex with a lady that is not wearing waist beads"...

But those who understand the times and seasons will know that this trend they call fashion is not ordinary. It is from the marine kingdom!

To all Nigerian men who have slept with waistbead wearing women, surrender your lives to Jesus Christ and be saved.

I am surprised that you have such statistics on the number of Nigerian women wearing waist beads. Did you actually sample the women one by one? What was your sample size and the population?

Culture / Re: Oldest History Books Say Yoruba Not Benin Founded Lagos by fijihems: 7:09pm On Dec 06, 2023
Why all the noise about who discovered Lagos and who did not? People only discovered what was already in existence even before them. It doesn't mean they created anything. Afterall we were told that Mongu Park discovered the River Niger. And so be it.

Just imagine .

As rich as Nigeria is,our citizens are everywhere moving like sheep without shepherds.

Most countries you see Nigerians are countries that under normal circumstances their citizens should be the one's fighting to come here.

Our leaders have failed us,and are still failing us.

No country still regards Nigeria as a rich country. We are very deep in debts and underdevelopment. The only thing that thrives in Nigeria is corruption and politics.

Most men who get married at a tender age, marry women who are their mates or even women older than them. They sooner or later get fed up with the wives and resort to side chicks for their pleasure.
