1-You don't necessarily need the booking to last two whole weeks. you just need to be able to book with a reference number and a booking itinerary to showcase them. don't worry if it expires 72 hours if you don't physically purchase the ticket. You can use South African Airways on their website and choose the option pay later to get your booking.

2-As of today that information is categorically false. You will not be denied based on your visa being e-visa. initially in the early stages of evisa, most border agents at the airports had little knowledge about it hence why they needed to verify in South Africa be it Tambo airport, or any other airport but its been over a year now and I presume they've have the necessary training to get use to it by now. if anyone gives you trouble at the airpot just ask to speak to the supervisor. All airports in south Africa will give you access to the country provided you have your evisa paper document stating the validity of the visa, there is a bar scan code on it that they can now officially scan so you shouldn't have an issue, that bar code is the same as getting a physical stamp at the embassy.

3-South is not the only country practicing evisa so don't worry about layovers before reaching your final destination in South Africa. what's important is which ever country you transit through ensure that your Nigerian passport gives you a no visa needed to transit through that country, that's what is important. for instance if you need to go through Ghana you won't need it because of the Ecowas agreement but per say if you have to transit through Other countries in the south then verify online that Nigeria is visa exempt. Now if you need direct flight with little stress look into South African Airways as an option.

4- You do not need a police and medical clearance as a tourist visa. Now with that being said if you state on your evisa application that you've lived in another country for more than 12months the evisa system will ask you to include a police clearance for that country you resided in for more than 12months besides your actual country of citizenship. make Sure to avoid this part. Medical report is only needed if you decided to complicate things and say on the application that you have certain medical issues. Besides this medical report is needed if you are applying as a business visa which grants you long permanent stay to run and start a business in South Africa or if you are applying for anything besides tourist visa.

My passport was delivered today, and I have been granted a South African visitor's visa.

The visa was issued on the 17th of January 2024, and it was stated that I must enter South Africa on or before the 29th of February 2024.

I have a couple of questions:
1) I understand that a tourist visa for South Africa is typically granted for a stay of 3 months in the country. However, the condition on my visa states that I can only be admitted to SA for 30 days. Has there been a recent change to reduce the permitted stay from 3 months (90 days) to 30 days?

2) It was specified on my visa that I must enter SA on or before 29/02/2024. If I arrive in SA on 27/02/2024, am I required to depart the country on or before 29/02/2024, or can I stay in the country for 30 days starting from 27/02/2024?

I would greatly appreciate some clarification on these matters.

1. All the same, the procedure to schedule any US Visa Appointment nowadays is a mathematical policy ( same thing ). But to qualify for an emergency Appointment , you must fall under STUDY , MEDICAL and BUSINESS .

2. Yours fall under BUSINESS & PLEASURE but what you are going for must be very very important and that importancy must be displayed in your invitation letter which you will use to request for your Emergency Appointment .

3. As a Visitor , you can request for your emergency Appointment up to 3 months before your planned travel . But once again , if you are visiting someone or attending a conference or wedding or any ceremony , the people or organisation you re visiting must write a CONVINCING INVITATION LETTER to you .

4. B1/B2 Emergency Visa appointment under Business and pleasure ( like yours ) is kind of harder to get .... Unlike B1/B2 under Medical or F1 Study visa . But it is achievable if you follow the normal norms .

If this is your first attempt , yes chose any date you see first and keep looking out for Reschedule option opportunity or apply for the emergency appointment straight away ..BUT YOU MUST HAVE YOUR SEVIS PAYMENT receipt and Form 120 handy . They should grant your request as a first timer .


2. If you have applied before , still chose any date you see and keep using your Reschedule option till you see any date in the year 2024...DO NOT USE YOUR EMERGENCY OPTION YET ( as a 2nd timer)... If you do not see your favourable date by the 1st week of January then defer your enrollment and request for another Form I 20 against fall 2024. You will still have the emergency option in your CGI to use for your fall 2024 entry .

3. In all, doing everything appropriately is the best solution .
