The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) on Wednesday sealed off the Ilorin, Kwara state mansion of former Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed over alleged N5 billion debt.

The property is located at No. 9A Abdulrazaq Street, GRA Ilorin.

One of the leading Asset Management Partners (AMPs) of AMCON Robert Ohuoba, in a video that later went viral in the State, said that he carried out the action.

It was gathered that the action followed the ruling of Hon. Justice A.M. Liman of the Federal High Court, Lagos Division on the issue who also ordered the freezing of the Bank Accounts of the former Governor and his two companies: Trans Properties & Investment Limited and Trans IT Consulting Limited in Suit No: FHC/L/AMC/01/2021.

Ahmed had some hours earlier joined forces with some prominent Nigerians to establish a third force known as the Rescue Nigeria Project (RNP).

In the video seen by The Nation, Ohuoba who was accompanied by some policemen, was heard instructing anybody within the premises to vacate the building.

Spokesperson of AMCON Jude Nwauzor in a statement described the enforcement as “successful,”

He said the former Governor is one of the high-profile obligors of AMCON.

He said all efforts to peacefully resolve the loan had been frustrated by the former Governor which left AMCON no other choice than to seek justice in court.

According to him: “AMCON had taken over the Non-Performing Loans of the former Governor and his companies… in line with its mandate under the AMCON Act.

“All efforts to peacefully resolve the loan had been frustrated by the former Governor who remained recalcitrant, which left AMCON no other choice than to seek justice in court.

“AMCON had to commence asset tracing through its appointed law firm of Robert Ohuoba & Co. on Abdulfatah Ahmed, an exercise, which further revealed nine (9) properties of the obligor situate in Kwara, Lagos State and the Federal Capital territory (FCT), Abuja, which the Corporation has plans to enforce upon.

“This action is in line with Section 49 (1) of the AMCON Act 2019 (As Amended).”

Nwauzor added that other assets of the former Governor which the Court granted AMCON possession over include: “No 13, Alhaji Masha Road, Surulere; No. 9 Wharf, Apapa, Lagos; Plot 3632, Cadastral Zone E27 of Apo, Abuja; Plot 4115, Cadastral Zone F14 of Bazango, Abuja and Plot 8502, Cadastral Zone E31 of Carraway Dallas, Abuja”.

Others are: “Plot 494, Cadastral Zone E31 of Carraway Dallas, Abuja; Plot 719, Cadastral Zone E23 of Kyami, Abuja and any other landed property in any place that may be found within the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.

When contacted, the former Governor’s media aide, Muideen Akorede promised to get back but was yet to do as at the time of filing this report.

Vice president of Suriname, Ronnie Brunswijk selected himself to play for a team he owns in a CONCACAF League fixture and couldn't stopped them from losing

Brunswijk is the owener of Inter Moengotapoe and is also the club's president but the politician decided to play a part in their last-16 game against Olimpia on Tuesday night.

Not only did Brunswijk pick himself but he captained his club in the stadium that is named after him. He also played alongside his son Damian up front for 54 minutes of the match but couldn't stop 6-0 thrashing by Olimpia.

A match report from the game stated that Brunswijk completed 14 of the 17 passes he attempted in his 54 minutes of action. The competition is North America's equivalent of the Europa League.

For participating in the game at 60 years and 198 days, he became the oldest player to appear in an international club competition.

Ebonyi state governor Umahi has written to president Buhari for funds to be able to complete the airport project he embarked on in the state.
