We are talking more about devices.
For example an Android device has the Android SDK(native) made by Android/Google themselves. But web developers can use HTML5, css and Javascript and use something like Phonegap(not native) made by Adobe to build apps for it.

Similarly a BBOS phone, for example, has the BlackBerry Java SDK (native) made by BlackBerry themselves. But web developers can decide to use Webworks (HTML5, CSS and Javascript). The difference is RIM actually created a platform that makes it easier to build apps using HTML5 and this platform is Webworks. But Webworks still uses Cordova/Phonegap by Adobe. BlackBerry further created Cordova/Phonegap plugins like a boy. is to make our Webworks apps look more like native apps.

So anything thats on a browser isn't native to you? EG: Online java games EG RuneScape?

You can use applications like Adobe Premier or Adobe After Effects. After Effects is a little more complex than Premier, but I prefer that

To me, designing a simple browser is not that complex, that's ignoring the ability to extend its features by adding addons. It's still parsing html, checking for external resources, designing default css rules etc. It would take time, but its very possible. I mean people design games themselves, in fact, I design 2d games myself and that's complex enough.

Please why are people saying Javascript can run standalone. It might not need an html page or a browser anymore but that doesn't mean it runs stand alone. Who has seen a .js file alone (without .html, or .cs or.java) just alone compile to run before. If you cannot compile a .Js file alone then its not stand alone.

Also I took Processing as a course in middle sex. Every language has a Graphic API c++ gdi,javascript Canvas and C# graphics class and java JGraphics not sure what happens here is that processing API are written in a way that you would understand them in Javascript. So they use the same method and signature. Look at lightgl a low level javascript library and Opengl. The methods are 100% identical but it's not C++ code it just converts them to similar JavaScript code. Same goes with that processing.

Plugins can be created for that purpose, and it would still be HTML5. HTML5 apps can even run in the background and auto run on startup. Its very flexible. Although I personally prefer native

Thats Zuckerberg thought on HTML5 and Facebook had to change to native platform. for some applications believe me HTML5 wont even work. How do you program Near Field Communication app for android using HTML5, which HTML 5 cross-platform framework supports that? Use HTML5 if it's enough for you but dont come here and confuse people like HTML5 is the silver bullet for killing platform dependent mobile development vampire.

There's a lot of them, sometimes you can't tell. Access bank mobile app on BlackBerry10 is an HTML5 app

haha its not as impossible as you think. I've seen enough large apps that was built by just 1 person. I mean browser kind of large.

No it's not, all those are people embedding web browsing engines, one person can't you don't believe me take a look at Chromium it's the open source, to even build the app takes alot of ram and gig, it's highly complicated, such softwares like this are not meant to be built by one person. infact large apps are highly built by one person just our african mentality of not collaborating.

I don't really agree. I can say Java is better when it comes to embedded systems, but trust me Javascript can do all other things Java can do. That's why it is possible to convert a Processing sketch made in Java to Javascript using ProcessingJs.

Very funny, you cant compare a Ferrari to a 1980 model Volkswagen bettle. Javascript is a very primitive language does not have the muscle of what Java can do. Even though we have frameworks like nodejs coming with async programming it still cant compete with Java. Java was from ground up well thought of. The only language that can compare with Java would be C# and the newer languages springing up right now like Go,Dart.

Hello guys, I want to introduce one of my applications currently on BlackBerry World now as Pin Pals - Meet your next date. This application allows users to share numbers and BBM Pins seamlessly. It works by matching your search criteria with a database of registered users.
I designed the BBOS version with Java and the BB10 version with HTML5, CSS and Javascript using the BB webworks framework works. There is currently an android version designed with HTML5 but I haven't updated that in a while now.

gee! I really have to check this out but is this even real? I mean writing a web browser usually cannot be accomplished by 1 person...not with having to understand http and socket protocols...parsing HTML...all sorts of HTML...fiddling with a JavaScript engine...

even if they used the android webview; they d still be using chrome underneath it... except that it d be slower...
