manpaskie: Good day programners. Few months ago I had an idea, and I started working on it immediately. The idea is a common one, its about building a web and mobile app that connect buyers and sellers in my school (a university). Right from when I hired programmers to start building it, I had it in mind to monetize it this way - #100 per AD, so user are gonna pay 100 before giving them access to publish their ad...I have two programmers working with me plus myself, making three people that knows about this thing already. Now, to my questions
--do you think it's a good idea? Do you think people will use the platform.
-- do you think I should introduce a free trial of 2 free-ad before I start charging them at #100 per ad?
-- is it reasonable to have a prepaid account? Like a virtual wallet on the APP that'll show each user remaining balance, the prepaid can be recharged through direct bank payment.
And more I am going to ask later. Please Bro and Sister, advice me. Thanks. I think it's a good idea and you'll make it well with good Promotion Also You should look for a way to make people see and feel the value of what they would be paying for before even telling them to pay. Point is don't bill them until you are sure people love it. A virtual wallet would be good. Checkout Zoranga. it's like a payment system that accepts recharge cards. This kind of payment method is like every Nigerian's dream since most of us don't like the idea of putting our credit card details on any website... |

funloaded: Ok let me break it down into pieces.... 1. If you like, let your traffic be as huge as nairaland's own, you won't make shishi if you don't run ads like nairaland do or sell products or collect money for a certain service 2. If you see any form of ads, be it google's adword, designed banner, sponsored post(post that makes a review of other people's product). Then that means the owner of the website is trying to make money or is already making money 3. Every website must pay a certain amount depending on how many people visit their website, this money is huge so site owners get money from adverts, settle bills, ofcourse there will be leftovers so they use it to flex 4. All data that is being consumed on every single website you visit is the work of your service provider(MTN, Glo e.t.c) They charge you just like they deduct their airtym when you call. Even Oga seun dey buy data to visit nairaland 5. There is nothing like linking your bank account to your website..... Nothing like that 6. Every website is not a blog, Nairaland is not a blog, listen and reason good.... Jumia: e-commerce(buying and selling online) Nairaland: Forum( users create topic, comment, discuss) Linda Ikeji: Blog( Only linda and her brain can post topics) Facebook: Social Network(you can create topic e.g facebook status, twitter tweet but only people who knows you, or people who are linked to you will see your topic) ..... I hope you don't get confused again iREP www.funloaded.xyz THis is the best comment Ignorance is too much in Nigeria |

You can also add "Home service" into the mix. if you don't have money, go to www.w3schools.com and teach yourself. These people that you want to teach you probably paid money to learn it too. hahahahahahaha I love this comment. The funny thing is people like this would give you a really hard time teaching them. Haaa seriously I don't care if my pictures go to the world. Also as long as you don't use these backups as your default HDD, no browser passwords would be stored there.... besides a really determined hacker would decrypt it and I don't think such hackers would be stealing drives.
My point is, don't waste time encrypting things except of course you've got secrets |

Craigston: It's my laptop first. I really hope nothing happens to it. I felt really bad when my 500GB hard drive crashed. I backup redundantly whenever I can. I got 4GB DVD discs (I'll still get more) and I backup materials that will be relevant for a long time to them. My flash drive has a backup of all my documents. My phone and my SD card have some. My hard disk has another set too. I'm thinking of encrypting every drive I can so its content remain useless to whoever steals it. And I'm about redoing the backup process on every drive I carry about by first encrypting the compressed image of the files before putting them on encrypted drives. smh, what's the use of encrypting it ? The content won't be needed by the thief.... they'll probably format the drive before they even realize it's encrypted.... Was thinking someone would say they wanna start using a cloud service as Backup 2 |

THEozmic: First, I think the price is not bad. But truly he seems more concerned with the price than the actual job. This is a sign of most novices. They get so focused on settling the price because of so many reasons, one of them could be because of other bargains they've had, so they believe that they should iron out the price before anything. This however doesn't mean that they can't handle the job, it just means that they really really need the money. Which is not a very good buzz to give off. My advice is give him the job, or better still, give him a smaller task out of the bigger job and agree on a little payment for that small task. So if he bails out on you, you wouldn't loose much money and this will keep him coming for more, once he gets the first pay, that is if he is a good programmer. For more advice you can send me an email: michaelozoemena2[at]gmail[dot]com The problem is: Developers like this would be very problematic when the client starts making demands |

Olumyco: FincoApps I can say U were the one that helped me out during the mind devastation I suffered in the hand of jquery mobile. After I had toiled day and night with jquery mobile thinking I would be able to achieve my intentions, I discovered all proved abortive. I was in that state until I came across ur Pin Pal app. When I read that U used framework 7 (F 7), I quickly swing into action to download the framework. Chai that framework is a beast. Since then I have been using Framework 7. The framework is comprehensive. It has its own in-built library for DOM manipulation (DOM 7) and also its own in-built template engine for templating (Template 7).
Dont even know framework 7 is even faster than popular Ionic.
Thank God I came across F 7. I have used jQTouch, jquery mobile even explored AppJS framework a bit but I still give It to F 7.
Thanks FincoApps... You welcome LOL, JQM is the WORST Ui Framework ever. I started with it at first and it was so bad, for example the touch feedback is not handled correctly, lists are worst. To me, ionic is soooo over rated. On the other hand F7 is fast on most devices and with very very readable code |

Sibrah: My understanding tells me they make things alot easier. Bootstrap as a web frontend framework for example gives u alot of options out of the box. I can't imagine myself building a carousel, grid system, tab, accordion, form styles from scratch. Don't mix up libraries and frameworks. Carousels, Accordions etc.... Libraries do that So using Libraries that makes work easier, eg JQuery doesn't mean you are using a Framework |

webdeveloperqx: hacks are available to remove the tap delay. generally apps built with html, css, javascript mobile apps frameorks can't behave like those build native to the device platform.
happy to read your view. I know about the hacks but isn't it better to use a framework you don't need to hack ? Besides, do you know any other hacks for the animations on highend Android devices.... ? It worked pretty fast on BlackBerry Passport but was so damn slow on Priv... that's why I don't like it |
Programming › Re: Please Is There Anyone Who Does Phonegap by FincoApps(m): 9:07am On Dec 11, 2016 |
webdeveloperqx: i advise you start with cordova, ionic , also if you know angularjs you can check out angularfire.
using cordova, it same as using phonegap but they are not same , explore the plugins available that exposes javascript API of the native device.
i hope this works. Are you aware that ionic is slow on recent Android versions... Like Android 5.xx Also there is a tap delay of 80ms... looks small but makes a lot of difference I would recommend Framework 7.... I've used a lot of UI Frameworks and the best under all conditions remains Framework 7 |

larisoft: I think I failed to explain why I think OP is misguided.
From a techinical point of view: lets take just one of your ideas: making an os that can run all apps from other OSes.
This has been attempted severally by seasoned world class engineers from different perspectives and the result is what we see in apps like bluestacks, windows android, blackberry android, emulators, and even the java runtime environment: still the results are far from satisfactory. For you to really accomplish this, you must liase with the other Oses or they will keep making platforms that will render your efforts futile. Why on earth will blackberry, android, windows agree to help you make them obsolete?
if somehow, you beat this obstacle, your resulting operating system will still require so much ram to run that the cost of production will be outrageous.
If somehow, you beat this obstacle, there are likely less than 200 engineers in this country who can build these applications to the extent which they've been built. Talk more, improving on it And none of these 200 engineers will agree to work for you without you paying an arm and a leg. Why? Apart from all the companies harrassing them to come work at for them, even if a handful of them wanted to work on a startup, they usually have ideas of their own + money, or more focused startups in line to choose from.
And finally, who will be leading this project? As a software engineer, I've seen you have very little information on what you are talking about here apart from faith and dreams. No experienced software engineer who sees this will let you lead them even if you were using jazz and surmounted all the problems listed above.
Now, this is just one project. Multiply it by all the other things you mentioned ...tesla? google? microsoft?
Calm down bro. This is not something saving the date and waiting till 2021 will change. The people I suspect you are using as a reference point (Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, e.t.c) all had very simple logically attainable visions. Yours is nothing like it. Nice!! But I disagree with some of your points. Although legally, you are correct that he needs to contact other OSes. But if he decides to go illegal, they can be reverse engineered. Also programmers that are capable of this in Nigeria are far more than you think, but I doubt any would want to work with him so again, you are correct there |
