But what is the fulzz about amala been healthy? If it’s just yam.

Again why should i do yam amala if I can just fresh pounded yam instead?

The plantain which is the healthiest is costly thats why it’s not popular.

The picture below is the yam and plantain. The darker one is yam. Is the normal? Is this this real color?

What I believe is that amala originated from story excess farm produce from spoiling into the following year.

I'm not yoruba. From where I came from what we know as amala is plantain. It use to be popular back then. But in modern time you hardly see people cooking it because of many reasons.

1, plantain is expensive now.
2. The process of drying the plantain and then grinding it to powder and the tedious process of the amala is what many people are running away from in modern time.

The alternative of using blender to blend unripe plantain and use that to make Amala is not that popular but although I prefer it as I use that method too. But for someone who buy foodstuff in larger quality to store. Buying unripe plantain is not an option because they will ripe and spoil.

Last week I decide to enter market to buy the dried unripe plantains amala. It was then I saw the one they already grind it was dark in color and then a dried plantain I ask the women and she said the one they grind is yam powder paint rubber 5k. The dried plantain 4.5k paint rubber.

I bought some rubbers from the dried plantain but After grinding to powdered it became small. and when I talked about it she said that why she doesn't like to grind plantain as it will be difficult to sell. It then ocours to me amala must be very expensive food compared to semo and wheat.

But another thought came to me like That means those restaurants I use to go eat amala which I usually thought is plantain was a lie? I then bought a rubber of the yam flour. By ratio a rubber of grind yam flour is slightly more than 2 rubber of dried plantain after grinding.

So the popular yoruba amala is not plantain? I thought as much because plantain amala usually have that unique plantain odor and flavor.

I will never fall for it again.

Most times the materials are even the same but you know the original brand have invested so much in branding, brand promotion, image marketing, advertising and even in staff welfare, so they usually factor in these costs in their final product prices which makes their own price higher than the counterfeit or replica brands that had only product production cost to bear, making their cost lesser than the original and which puts them at advantage in pricing.


I got to know this in China. Same factory producing for the main brand produces the generic which these counterfeit makers create theirs from.



The only place I frown at counterfeit is in things humans consume like; medicines, food, etc

You talking rubbish. Big brands have a name to protect they use quality materials and well tested. They pay heavy tax. and and also fine if they produce rubbish. Their prices are higher I know that and the reason they have a warranty. But those generic are not of the same qualities. Not the same firmware and panel. If you have change a phone screen before you will see the difference from the original follow come screen.

Why using LG brand. Instead they could have use their own name.
