Phones / I Need 3 Compelling Reasons Why I Should/should Not Buy A Tecno Phone. by Finelinks: 7:52pm On Oct 06, 2019
Marketers are not needed here please!

Tecno, infinix or Itel phones are frowned upon here by so many.

The trio are produced by a chinese based coy - Transsion Holdings.

I have however, yet to see any compelling reason why many hate the brand, apart from trying to keep up with the joneses and 'stay woke'.

Many haters just belong to this haters cult with no strong reasons attached.

It remains to be added that I have been using a Tecno for 3 years 4 months, A gionee for 4 years 6 months.
Major snag with the Tecno has been battery. Of course the mah is less than 3000 coupled with old age- 3 years plus.

But let me just assume I am lucky for being able to use these phones for long.

NOW PLEASE, I NEED REASONS WHY A TECNO PHONE IS A BAD OR GOOD CHOICE FOR ME!

I reiterate, marketers keep off .

OP, I don't pray to welcome you to the club.

I have been there and still suffer the same thing — since 2007. Fortunately, yours isn't chronic yet. While I won't advise you to quit your job (like I did), because of the nature of the country, you need to find ways to reduce stress and relax better.

Medications are not usually the solution, though they may help in the short term. Reducing stress and exercising regularly will help you. Breathing deeply while in bed may help too. Don't forget to switch off the lights before going to bed. I have found that reading funny comments here, while in bed, helps me laugh hard, and it tends to improve my sleep — probably the brain releasing more relaxing chemicals like the endorphins.

But medically, having an elevated blood pressure at your age isn't normal. While it seems to be as a result of the stress, the right thing is to rule out other possible causes of elevated blood pressure in the young, such as hyperadrenalism, thyroid conditions, and kidney conditions. So, if you have enough money, I will suggest you visit the hospital and do the necessary tests — Adrenal hormonal assays, Thyroid function test, Kidney function test, and abdominal ultrasound.

The tests you mentioned are very sensitive tests that usually yield unreliable results.
Again, only a few hospitals run them.

go for the A 30 since we are talking bout Samsung. You also mentioned techno. I suggest you go for the phantom 9. It's pretty a decent phone to the a30. And the you will get more memory 128gb and more ram 6gb. 500 mah lesser battery life. Same screen size and resolution. Lesser screen to body ratio. More megapixels at the front for more details. Higher clock speed. But poor GPU compared to Mali on the Samsung. You won't get USB 3.0 on the techno. So which one are you going for?

Onye nkem, no vex, been running around!

It seems the phantom 9 isn't cool. I still have eyes at

1. Samsung A30
2. Redmi Note 7 or 5
3. Huawei , maybe y9

If not because of concerns about availability of parts, I wouldn't look at tecno or infinix at all.

In case, i buy either Redmi or huawei and screen breaks for instance, what are the chances of easily fixing it especially for someone in the east.

This is what we are saying. You bought land as a young man and not built a personal house at that age with your first capital. You could have gone to build your personal house in one remote place at that age in order to be called landlord but you refused and instead opted to build up the funds and iam sure you were on rentage then.

This is what iam trying to tell @Finelinks.

Bought your first land in 1999 and built your personal house 8 years later in 2007.
That is planning and building up of funds. You could easily have built the personal house in 1999 but you did not.

See why people fail comprehension in high schools.

He built on same land you called remote village. SAME LAND SIR. And now has commissioners as neighbours.

And hey, don't turn a volte face. Why applaud him? Or you no longer know your stance? Why approbate and reprobate?

You would deem it a liability even in 2004 that he built or did he tell you he had 1 billion in 2004?

Going by your argument, he would have invested it in Tbills and use the interest to rent.

As per my question, you have tried to evade it or wriggle out of it.

At any rate, it seems engaging in tergiversation is your forte. I may make no further rejoinder to this.

This why i said you are missing the point of discussion. Nobody here arguing against using your first capital or using your 'tasere' money to build a personal house is saying it is all about TBs. The point being made here is that when you have low funds and you as a young person needs to choose building a personal house and investing in TBs, you should choose TBs in order to grow the funds in a less risky manner. If you cannot understand this simple flow and logic of this discussion then it means you are just arguing blindly. You have moved from Bill Gates to Linda Ikeji and now to Dangote. You keep mentioning people that have have made it through growing of their money.

Did Linda Ikeji just woke up one morning and saw 850m to buy the house or did Dangote just woke up one morning and bought a Yatch?. They all grew their money over time. There are people who grew their money through business, TBs, Bonds, stocks. Iam yet to see a person who grew his/her funds through the building of his/her personal house with initial capital or with 'tasere' money.. If you know of such a person, let me know.

Suffering from DK effect?
I asked you a simple question.

Why did linda buy a house?

Why didn't she invest it in Tbills to get 145m per annum, then use 100m to rent choice house and keep 45m?

Or she didn't need extra money?

You were busy citing names i used in context, out of context.

There is no one size fits all when it come to investment, and I believe no one want to win this argument. Be it building for investment, TBill or what have you. Have a plan and follow it diligently. Each has its pros and con. I started building my first house in my home town a yr after my youth service and it took me 5 whopping years to complete, in the process I learnt some lessons but no regret, it made me wiser and thought me some lessons as well. Later on in life when I moved to Lagos and met an entirely different terrain. I could recall going on bended knee with my money at hand but my then landlady won't allow me to renew my rent. Never knew that was the standing rule in that house. You can't possibly stay more than 2yrs even if you work in CBN.

Moving from one house or area has its effect on family, children's education etc. I was lucky to have heard of Tbill early in life. Luckily a better house directly opp her's was put up for sale, what did I do, I liquidated my entire Tbill investment and bought the house.

The fulfilment that comes with owning your own house can't be quantified, It was like a rebirth and I can plan better not to mention the huge respect you gain from the society.

Now I'd answer you intelligently. Sorry sir, if I sounded arrogant to you. This day and age, you do not have to physically appear in a university , abandoning your business, family et al to earn a degree up to PhD in any part of the world sir. There are online options available to everyone who's interested in bagging the so-called degree. I had an MBA from UCLA and it was purely online-based. I only appeared on the graduation day physically. All the course modules were available online which I took. In same vein , dangote doesn't have to go to a Cairo uni to take a course. While in his office or on weekends, he can do the same online. Does that make sense to you now?

How much credence does online based degrees including your MBA have?

And why do people still travel abroad to study with thousands of dollars if they could have just done it online?

Linda Ikeji did not buy her house with her first 850m. She already built a business and had serious reserves before buying that house.

This is why i earlier said that you have missed the discussion.

A young person see 3m in his account. The next thing he goes to Mowe or Odogunyo in Ikorodu and build a small bungalow because he does not want to pay rent or does not want landlord wahala. Then every morning, he wakes up by 4am to go to work on the Island and gets home every day by around 11pm. Then weekend, he crosses his legs in his sparsely furnished sitting room and says 'iam now a landlord'. Meanwhile, he is far removed from activities in town as he finds it too stressful to leave that interior.

Is that the kind of advise you will give a young person if he/she comes to you for advise?.

I do not have a problem with a young person having 50m and he uses 30m to buy or build his personal house. My TBs can conviniently build me a house in the outskirts of Lagos but why will i do that and then be leaving home by 5-5.30am everyday and get home by around 11pm whereas the interest from the TB can get me a decent 3 bedroom apartment that enables me to leave home by 7:30am to work and get home between 6:30-7pm everyday?.

Look at your Linda Ikeji example. Where did she buy her house?. Banana island. When she had 5m, why do you think she did not rush to Mowe or Odogunyo to build a house?.

Facts are stated to prove a particular thing and not to prove all things.

Linda was mentioned to prove or buttress the point that building a home is not always unwise.

It's not about tbills tbills.

Don't engage in ostrich evasions.

GOING BY YOUR ANALOGY, Linda should have even invested the 850m in tbills and used the proceeds to rent a choice place and still have change left.

Or don't you know how much she is losing? True yield of 850m is averagely upto 145m per annum. She should have used 100m to rent the best house and keep the difference.

Or doesn't she need extra money?

AS PER THE 5M blah blah blah, everyone does not live or work in Island. It's not a desideratum.

Your number two is so on point.
When you begin to analyse the way average Nigerian reasons, you might be forgiven for thinking you are in a mad house.

To overcome this, don't go and live in the city when you are in Nigeria. Make sure you find yourself a place in your village, a bit away from most people.
This was exactly what I did, and I enjoy Nigeria now. I moved about 400 metres away from everyone and built myself a house with a very tall fence around it. Many people only know I am around when they see my car pass.

If you have been overseas for over 19 years like me including the academic accomplishment, it is very difficult for you to find people that think like you who live in Nigeria.

And people that think like you live in that your village?

Young people starting a life is relative. So is the house in question. At what point along the continuum do they qualify?

At what point do they become ripe to now own a home.

Building that house with your basic capital is wrong. Grow the capital before using the proceed of your business to build a house. Dont take your first 50m to build a house, after the house what else? Grow the money in a risk free portfolio and get a stand alone duplex and still keep change. In few years you can use your profits to buy or build a house with your capital intact. I own houses and a regret owning them too early, they bring little or nothing to the table and as a speak what they bring is still the money i invested, no sight of interest in many years to come. I have one tenant that is due out by 31st of October, i pray he leaves in peace but am sure he wouldn't. I will pay a lawyer and lawyer has advise we get a "bailiff". Front the outside of the house i can see damages to the building already. Meanwhile, my tbills interest and maturity drops unannounce even to me most times. I am a kind of person that dont have time, always too busy so any day i spend dealing with a tenant other than getting rent is a big minus to my life.

Oga Barry, the idea of GROWING THE CAPITAL is relative, thus evasive.

50m is a good sum, but it might still need to be grown.

It depends on the person involved. Even 1 billion might still need to be grown depending on who is involved because the person involved might desire a house worth 700m.

Even when you grow it to 2 billion, you might still say "grow it more... ad infinitum.

Mind you, nothing is guaranteed.

You might invest the money in business and one single government policy or misadventure will send you to the streets.

how many houses does Warren buffet have?

This house argument can be likened to other archaic advices that dont work in the present economy. our parents told us go to school, study hard and get a good job. That does not apply now. The education system is not even at par with the new type of jobs which are springing up. So what your kids learn in primary school would be obsolete when they get to secondary school.

same with houses. Go to Abuja and see empty houses losing money daily. Why would I use 75m to buy a house because of the social tag of landlord? if I invest that money in businesses ot even bills my profit or interest is more than enough to rent a duplex in a choice part of town.

Yes the house appreciates in value, but that argument only holds water of you intend selling the house which most people dont because of cultural connotations that come with owning a house.

My best bet is buying land or developing the property half way and selling off. Not waiting for rent that may take you 20 years to recoup your capital talkless of profit.

las las na next of kin go squander the money

Lol

Bill Gate's house is estimated to be worth 127-154m dollars. That's 46-56 billion naira.

Even our own Dangote has a yacht worth 16 billion naira.

It's not just about Tbills or answering landlord.

There are many advantages of owning your house or business place. Some of these advantages have been named elsewhere especially those from ahiboilandgas.

Owning your house or Business place also ensures more stability.

A notice to quit could be issued to you at any time coupled with many restrictions in rented apartment especially if the landlord resides there too.

Do you know there are apartments that your brother or visitor can't sleep over? or visitors can't come at certain times?

There are apartments you can't buy certain properties or install certain gadgets like solar etc.

But you can design your own house as it pleases you. You can own and keep pets too.

I want a place I can go out and come back by 2 am without queries or pleadings.
A place i can go out and remotely open my gates for my visitor even 1000km away.

Some have high BP when landlord is around because of his troubles.

80% of people who have lived in their homes and enjoyed the freedom may not want to rent again.

Maybe you haven't experienced it. (Just like I used to brag about my rickety manual car until I drove a friend's automatic car).

Life is meant to be enjoyed. All human efforts are geared towards increasing happiness or reducing suffering. Life is meaningless. We are only here to be happy.

You sound like the type that switches off the ignition in traffic to save fuel.

MAY GOD GIVE US MORE MONEY TO AFFORD SOME LUXURY.

this thread really opened my eyes about rental apartments! I also see what landlords go through with tenants including hiring and paying lawyers too and I just think it’s not worth it

Compare first hand experience as related by ahiboilandgas.

As per ownership of one's residence, the advantages have been stated elsewhere.

I normally tell people that a young man having in his mind to build a property to live in just to be called 'landlord' is archaic. You will hear some people say 'na rent i go die put'. I believe property is worth it when it is an estate with several flats.

I live in a 6 flats compound. Four of us that are the early occupants pay our rents constantly. The Landlord then saw that as a weakness and opportunity to exploit and started increasing rent anyhow. He was trying to increase our rent to catch up with the new tenants. One flat became vacant and it took 6 months to get a new tenant. The rent of the new tenant expired and has not been able to finish paying and now another rent is due. Another flat became vacant and it took 9 months to get an occupant. We were now surprised when the landlord gave us an increase for the next year rent and it was just between 8-10%. This is somebody that will wake up and do 40% and say 'anybody that does not want to pay should pack out'. Iam sure he was now starring at the prospects of 4 flats being vacant as we had already made up our minds that if he does his 30-40% again, we will pack out. A tenant is still owing part of a year with another year due. The new tenant is yet to complete agency and agreement fee.

The upfront interest from my TB pays my one year rent with some good change to flex whereas the capital would not have built me a bungalow in the same area. I no come Lagos come build house. Na money i come make for Lagos.

Oga forget.

Even Bill gates and and his likes own their houses.

If you are big you are big.

Some level of freedom comes with ownership of one's house coupled with latitude to behave the way you like, avoiding landlords policing you about.

My house is up for sale but nobody is asking, maybe am not shouting enough. House is worth 35m to 50m. I realized that if i invest that amount then i will use the interest to rent a duplex in the choicest estate in town and still have money remaining then i. 5 years my interests can buy or build a befitting home for.my family. A duplex is 1m to 1.5m in best estate in my town. 35m gives me 4.2m at 12%. Even i use 2m to pay rent, i have 2m to reinvest. I should be able to own my dream mansion in my dream area in next 5 years.

Seems you are missing out some things!
Assuming building with 10m at a remote area gives
750k m per annum from rent

And

Assuming 10m in Tbills gives 1.5m per annum.

You don't just conclude that Tbills is better because the property that yields just 750k also appreciates in most cases. This translates to a better return ultimately.

Again, inflation or devaluation MAY slightly affect the physical cash.

Note that inflation doesn't affect all sectors same way.

Compare and see the post below:

ahiboilandgas:
Another example ( real life ) My Neigbour bought a land for 800 k and built a duplex 10 years ago in a developing area (c.o) total was 5 million naira ...he didn't renovate for 10 years by 2018 he sold the house for 29m ....so if I add the oppurnity cost of the 500k rents he was suppose to pay for 10 years will also be 5m...so his total profit is 29m + 5m + 2m ( increase rent ) total 37 m ....i put the 2m cos the rent of duplex in the area is now 1.3m ....so this 5m generated 37m over 10 years net profit is 32 m

Buh if you you think you are not comfortable about this, i think you should talk to her about it since you two are already talking marriage so it won't affect your home later after marriage. Women should be a helper, remember? So talk to her about it and you can know what next to do from her response.
Stop saying rubbish!

That lady is imbecilic and selfish. simple.
Nothing like some women love to be taken care of!
