[quote author=TWoods post=63226739]Your gpa is high enough to get into a more competitive program in a bigger school. All that would have needed would have been a gre. You have two choices: in the short term, you can try again with what you have. In the long term, you can go back, restrategize, take a gre, ace it, apply to a better program.
Put yourself in the shoes of the VO, they know that not all of you will return, regardless of all you say... who would you let across? The guy going to Stanford for premed or the guy going to point park for an accelerated class? Someone pls wake me up |

ekiee: Hello people, I got f1 visa approval today, and I really need to post my transcript. To people yet to go for interview, just believe in yourself, not with what you see people do and blue sheets flashing around. It's just a conversation, not a project topic to defend. Vo: good morning Me: morning Vo: ur study plans? Me: I plan to pursue my masters degree in telecommunication. And networking at florida international university, miami florida Vo: why this course Me: well, telecommunication and networking is a course that I've have great interest since my childhood, my grand mum often called it the sorcery from the western world, and learning the principles of wireless communication has been of huge interest, although I feel compelled now more than ever, with the introduction of the IOT(Internet of things), this seams to be a new wave that would have much applications across most industries and sectors, and FIU is currently the first university in the US to take IOT for undergraduate studies Vo: did you write standardised test Me: no, it was waved for applicants with GPA above 3.0 and with a convincing letter of intent. VO: how many schools did you apply to Me: well for full application, I applied only to FIU, but I applied to MNSU Minnesota, but my decision from FIU came through, before I could send my transcript to MNSU (MNSU story na tales ooo, was scared of sounding too plain at that point) VO: when did you graduate from university, Me: may 2016 Vo: what have you been doing after nysc, Me: currently I'm on my NYSC atm, to pass out December 24th (batch B stream 2) Vo: what's your plans upon graduation Me: to start up an IOT company here in Nigeria, I believe this would be a new wave, that would be high yielding Vo: who would be sponsoring your trip Me: my uncle Vo: what does he do Me: he is the co owner and CEO of XXXX, based in Houston texas Vo: your visa is approved, and gave me white paper
Fear not, just tidy your tales, just let your tales flow, do your research, only on. Your school, but also on your tales, the tales is important. This is my story, thanks family, u guys have been awesome congrats to the man wey sabi. All glory to God |

Hello nairalanders, I submitted my Ds-160 form yesterday and later made a mistake in the field 'Intended lenght of stay in the US', on realising this after submission, I quickly filled another form and updated the new confirmation number in the appointment website and generated another confirmation page.
This was done less than 72hours to the date of my appointment (14th Dec), and there is a bolded caveat that says:If you are updating your profile less than 72 hours prior to your appointment day, you may be turned back. Please ensure all updates are done at least 72 hours before your interview day please what should I do? by the time i ll be going to the embassy, it would only be 48hours (not up to the said 72hrs). I considered rescheduling my appointment but the next available date was 30th Jan, that is many days after the start of classes for spring.
or is emergency schedule an option here? |

TWOODS, this is soothing. you dont have to be harsh to correct people. your intellgence really dwarfs me, you are very knowledgeable. Please, we need you, most expecially, when you correct in love. TWoods: This thread works great actually. You may get responses from folks who have more recent experience or have a different perspective. So i'll encourage you to ask your questions here.
Yes, they do ask how many schools you applied to. It's simply a way to determine if you're a genuine student or not. Even JAMB asks you to pick more than one university on your application so why will you simply put all your eggs in one basket. At this point it is not a matter of being safe or not, you should simply tell the truth and let the chips fall where they may. Lying, only for them to find out later, has far more repercussions than simply being denied a visa. |

tboii: We can just prepare for any question asked by the Vo but at the same time we should also consider some answer that might keep the VO wondering .. for example you are above 30, working and your father is still the one sponsoring you might keep them wondering.. how is your traveling going to be beneficial to your sponsor.. only if you are working in your father company ..instead of that why not tell them your father is paying for your schooling and you paying for hostel and feeding.. because even in the USA every student has right to student loan and the student pay back the loan when they are working.. so most parent don’t sponsor their child at college or university level... I might not be absolute right about dis just saying my view Another eye opener. you guys are good |

Hello Buddies. To say I am heartened by the gross selflessness that people display here is an understatement, this goes to show that , no matter how faint it is, there is hope for this country. My Question: I am planning to go for my VIsa interview by december against spring2018 admission, However, the current realities on ground are about to force me defer the admission to FALL2018. SO incase my visa is approved in december, do i have to visit embassy for interview again if I eventually defer the admission till FALL. Thank you ALL |

I dont think it should affect your chances. but the candid advice is that you should first go and they should later get F2 visa. you know it is a new terrain. except you have much money. adesegun14: Hello wonderful nairalanders, Please I need your candid advice on this. Does moving with my wife and daughter as a student to USA reduce my chances of getting a visa? Won't they think I'm trying to move permanently? Okay noted. Next person pls. alexialin: No.
The man is the head of the home, irrespective of the wife taking care of the bills.
For me, as long as he's responsible in character and have seen how hard he tries to break thru. Then why not? He's the head, whether I spend my hard earned money on him or not.
But in Jesus name, the man I will marry will have more money than me amen. |
