Culer: like I said, "importance to the team" is the keyword. How important was ferran Torres to city? He was just a bench piece, and seeing that we were dumb enough to overpay for a bench piece, they let him leave. Sterling was most times rotated with gundogan as a false nine with city last season. He got less important for city with each passing season. Guardiola mostly played foden on the left gundogan as false nine and Gabriel Jesus or Mahrez on the right. He barely started sterling and when he did, it was at false nine. Now haaland is there to take over the 9 position. Sterling became even more useless, but they were fine with him staying since he provides them more options in attack. It's just like the case of depay with us. A good offer came and they let him leave. Bernardo is an important piece of pep's team, there's no one in that squad that can replace him right now and paqueta is a big gamble, and IMO, not half as good as Bernardo. City wouldn't just let him leave like that. I believe pep would talk him into staying for one more season and being the calm and trouble free guy he is, I see Bernardo agreeing to stay one more season. Ferran was not a bench warmer... Get that straight. He only got relegated to the bench when he got injured. In fact, he started more games than Gabriel Jesus. Then as regarding Sterling, I don't know how you watch Sterling last season doing the work of Grealish after the latter wasn't gelling with the team well. Gundogan was fringe, so I get that. |

Kilishihunter: Oga if Bernando wants to leave, he'll leave, Same stuff that happened with Sterling, Pep tried to get him to sign a new contract but he was insistent on moving to chelsea, Why will Jorge Mendes start offering him to barça and Vardrid out of the blues if he's not willing to move? Somebody that offered himself to us when we went to broker a deal for toress, During the last transfer window he was heavily linked with vadrid from England, Im not too keen on him but if he wants to move and barca still want to pursue him he'll be here before August 30th, Ake not moving was cause city wanted 60m euros which Chelsea backed out of I don tell am. Nahim no which to believe now |

Culer: Guy, If benardo comes, he'll play on the right side of the midfield while pedri will play on the left. They will not be in direct competition for a starting spot. Gavi and kessie will come from the bench. All this one you dey talk na long story. Your opinion. But I'd like to see it happen. I don't see a way Kessie will come from the bench. You're talking like this because you're a Barca fan and you want the move, but look at it from city and Pep's pov, it'll be disastrous to let a player as important and talented as Bernardo leave now, as city are competing on all fronts, especially to win the Champions league.
Wether pep is a master or not, there is no assurance that paqueta will adapt and start giving high quality performances immediately. Did you know it took this same Bernardo a whole season to adapt to city? No dey talk wetin you nor know. Pep will talk Bernardo into staying for one more season, like he did with Ake who wanted to move to Chelsea. Well, it's their business. I am not pumped about the move so... Whatever they want to do, their business. Let us a get a Right back. That's my major concern now. |

Culer: lol. Bernardo isn't coming to battle with pedri for his place. If he comes, he'll play as the right interior of the midfield 3. Wtf you on about kessie? I think you're overrating him. Kessie would definitely be a bench piece if Bernardo comes, end of story. Box to box isn't compulsory in a midfield 3. Xavi and iniesta played together and neither were box to box midfielders. Barca don't even play with box to box midfielders, we only use them as a stop-gap e g Vidal, paulinho et al.
The chances of Bernardo leaving city is really slim, I don't see it happening. You're talking as if paqueta wouldn't have to adapt to a different weather, country and people. It'll definitely take time before he settles and there's no assurance that he'll be as influential as Bernardo has been . Letting Bernardo go is a big risk that I don't see Pep taking. I didn't over rate Kessie, what I am saying is... His position is one that lacks competition but you see Pedri, he'd have to do more to convince Xavi to play him ahead of Bernado. Not like I mind though because I personally want him to have lesser minutes to avoid injuries in the long run. Then again, I tell you that we've been having box to box since Xavi left. In fact, Xavi doubled in for us as that but majored as a CM since there was an Iniesta that could create magic with Messi up front. His decline started when he lacked that pace to compliment his abilities and that's where Rakitic came. The Vidal and Paulinho saga only became obvious because Messi orchestrated our attacks mostly so we needed an extra figure in the box. Talk about adaptation, Pep is a master at helping that. If Barca makes a bid and the player wants to leave, then I don't think Pep would blink an eye to stop him. |

Kilishihunter: I still see the deal as complicated and unfeasible for now, though I believe if we really want him he'll be gotten especially as pep hardly stands in players way if they want to move, Though he will add quality as the right sided interior I still think we're not pretty bad in midfield, Lets just sort out the fullbacks and we'll be good to go, Bernado will elevate our midfield to the next level though while them Torre, collado and Pjanic will likely leave Me, I want Pjanic to stay ooo. Busi shouldn't get comfortable this season at all. Yes, Nico can stay and study but he doesn't have what it takes to play as a single pivot yet. He stop small for only am to man that place. Collado should go on loan, this time to a serious club... That guy shouldn't be sold. And yes, |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by FirstbornWds: 2:04pm On Jul 29, 2022 |
Culer: @ emboldened, nah he's not. He actually complements pedri as the right interior CM... Pedri will be the controller- making the midfield tick, while Bernardo will be the creator, supporting the attacking third.
I still don't think he'll come anyway. Man city would be stupid to let him leave so late in the transfer window and Paqueta isn't half as good as Bernardo. In a barca team that plays 433 steady, he can play as a creator or a winger. Now, the only creator we have in midfield is Pedri, and heal is not as prolific yet. We already have a Kessie that advances into the box and can double as a CM too. So, I think the competition in that midfield is with Pedri which I don't have a problem with because I wouldn't want the guy to get injured as frequently because of too many games. Now, don't underestimate what Pep can make Paqueta into. Imagine him balling at this level despite playing with less tactical manager. If Pep handle for one season, he go ripe pass anything |

Kilishihunter: Unlike before it seems man city are willing to let him go for 80m though I think it'll be less and reports are that they're looking to get that Brazil dude paqueta as a replacement, Mendes offered him to both Vardrid and us though the former have dismissed interest, But of course fdj has to move fess to create space in the middle and the wagebill This guy is coming to battle Pedri for his position in midfield. Now, the only position that's left with only one player is the B2B position which only Kessie will man if FDJ leaves. We need to consider that this is going to be a long season for us and we most likely can't just hope that Kessie will stay fit for the most part. If the guy lowers his wages, then he might not leave. I don't think Xavi will actually play him as CB unless he it's really important. I foresee some of our youngsters going on loan cos this thing will be too jadded to accommodate babies. |

"It's my aspiration. I feel partly responsible for the way it ended with him. I think it is provisional, and we can make this ending a reality. At least that's our intention."
"Comments from Germany? I would tell them that they should look at their bank account, that they just received important money for Lewandowski. They are distorting reality."
"People do not understand Barça's power. To the ones who are surprised, I tell them: we are awake. We are back in the market. The force, the power, the values of a 122 year old institution mean a lot."
"Stay calm. We can still surprise people much more."
"It's true, we were in a critical state. But the levers have gotten us out of that. And some people just don't know that. They're a step behind, and it's a lack of information regarding our club."
"I respect everyone. If I don't speak on what other people do, then I expect them not to comment on what I do. Maybe they say things because they see that we are back on the market, and we are doing better than them. Let them focus on themselves."
"Our competitors see that we are signing top players, and they see that everyone wants to come to Barça. If that makes them uncomfortable, then you know that we are doing a great job."
"Raphinha had better economic offers elsewhere, but he decided to sign for us."
"Sevilla wanted to sell Koundé to a team that was willing to pay more for his signing. However, the player pushed for a move to Barça."
"Kessie and Christensen arrived on free transfers. Then we signed Raphinha, Lewandowski and Koundé on sensible deals. And above all, all of these players adjusted their salary to fit into the new salary scale that we are implementing."
"It's true that I would not have liked to sell TV rights, but the situation forced us to. We had to be brave and take important decisions, because football does not wait for you. Our fans deserve to see Barça competing at the highest level."
"The amount that we are spending now will have to be compensated in the next few years."
"We are building the great team that Xavi wanted."
"I want to congratulate Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff for their wonderful work. They are bringing great players to Barça."
"Despite the transfers, we are acting prudently. We always think about the long term financial stability and sustainability of the club."
"We had a negative net balance of €600m. With the two operations that we closed, we reported €667m in income, which allows us to register players with the 1:1 rule. I want to thank Sixth Street. The agreement is beneficial for both parties."
"Depending on when we can register the new players, we will consider signing more players. We hope that there will be no problems, and we can sign someone."
"Because we now have a positive net balance and the 1:1 rule, we should be able to register the new signings. In any case, we are ready to face any problems."
"Frenkie wants to stay and the club wants him to stay. However, we may have conversations, as there is a new salary scale in place. Our wage bill is 40% higher compared to our competitors, and we have to discuss that with our players."
"We will do everything possible for Frenkie de Jong to stay. I hope that he does the same."
"As long as I am president, Barça will continue to be member-owned. I can guarantee that."
"The percentage of assets that we sold are not dangerous to the long term financial health nor the ownership model of the club."
"Barça are known as a club that has values, social sensibility, and is committed to helping society. As the president, it is an honor."
