Valdez is good. I am not saying he is not. I am saying Ederson's range exceeds his. The cross-bar challenge that teams do, Ederson and KdB always win it at City. Ederson wins over Rodri, Bernardo etc. That should tell you something.

I am not downplaying Ederson at all. But you see that challenge is just one of those things that recently came into training module and Valdez most likely even involve then. Ederson might have fallen down the radar if he played in the era where Xavi and Iniesta were pass/long ball demons

Neuer is not even as good as Ederson with his legs. It is just that Neuer is so good at his reflex, strength, anticipation and then his legs are decent that overall he is just the best choice.

Neuer is goated in that department. In fact, he was practically a deep playing (4) (jokes) but he was very good. Only reason we are having this conversation is because Neuer was eqailly a very fine shot stopper that Ederson isn't.

Smiles. This is surely recency bias. You forget that Victor was one of the major pioneer goalkeepers that modernize this ball-playing GK and was pivotal for our ball playing game when Puyol was still bang average in that department.

have seen all their games. They struggle when the opponent is compact in the middle and there is no breathing space for them to operate. Off the ball, they are vulnerable (watch them vs palace). They are not a physical side.

He doesn’t have a weakness passing from the back. I can actually say he’s pretty good in that aspect as every goalkeeper has been trapped into a mistake passing from the back.

Ederson who’s made himself a king in passing from the back has been caught out many times. I remember him giving the ball directly to McSauce that led to a goal at Old Trafford.

Alisson isn’t as good as Ederson with his foot but that doesn’t mean Alisson is weak in that aspect. He’s well above average. Alisson is a better shot stopper, the better one-v-one goalie and Alisson commands his box better than Ederson.

You cannot compare the confidence of Ederson to Alisson, when playing from the back. If grilled under pressure, the probability that Alisson would succumb and make dangerous of the ball is higher. Of course, Ederson and other proper ball playing GKs like Neuer and MATS equally make mistakes that leads to goals but hardly will you see them lose a footing if pressured, compared to Alisson who's just decent.

Nonetheless, he's a very fine GK and a joy to watch in-between the sticks.

UEFA will announce this afternoon a list of 10 clubs that did not comply with financial fairplay rules. Barça are not on the list.
