Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, has provided the real reason Cristiano Ronaldo left Juventus for Manchester United.

The UFC icon said Ronaldo told him he was ‘bored’ at the Italian giants in a conversation they had before the Portugal captain moved back to Manchester United.

The 36-year-old former Real Madrid attacker re-signed for the Red Devils last week, signing a two-year deal and could make his second debut this weekend against Newcastle.

Khabib claimed the move did not come as a surprise to him due to a chat he had with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner earlier in the summer.

Final year UNILORIN student convicted for internet fraud, forfeits Lexus car, others

Adigun Oladapo Oludele, a final year student of the University of Ilorin, has been sentenced to one year imprisonment for internet fraud.

Justice Sikiru Oyinloye of the Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin who convicted him on Friday ordered that his Lexus car – lS250 registered KJA 141 GU Lagos, be forfeited to the Federal government of Nigeria.

The court further ordered that the sum of N158,000 domiciled in Adigun’s GTB account found to be proceed of unlawful transactions be forfeited to the Federal government. [color=#d7e0c9].[/color]

In addition, the iPhone 12, iPhone 7, Apple Watch and two laptops recovered from him at the point of arrest were also forfeited.

The 25-year-old convict, was prosecuted on two-count charge by the Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

He scammed his victim through impersonation via Ohio Pandemic Unemployment Assistance Portal in the United States of America to obtain the sum of 6,328 US dollars sometime between December 2020 and June 2021.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the charges.

Following his plea, counsel to the anti-graft agency, Andrew Akoja, urged the court to convict the defendant on his plea bargain agreement dated August 4, 2021.

The defence counsel, Mr T.A. Hammed did not oppose the position of the EFCC counsel.

In his judgement, Justice Oyinloye, said, ” this honourable court, has not seen any reason why the defendant should not be convicted, as the prosecution has placed enough materials before the court to prove its case beyond reasonable doubts.”

The trial judge pronounced Adigun guilty and sentenced him to one year in prison with an option of N250,000 fine.

The Grade two teacher of Central Primary School Karabonde, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger state, Alhaji Usman Galadima who allegedly defiled 14 pupils of the school has been suspended from work by the management of the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB.

It would be recalled that Alh. Galadima has been accused of sexually assaulting some pupils of the school and threatening to kill them should they reveal what he did to them.

DAILY POST gathered that the school reported the activities of the randy teacher to the social welfare department of Borgu LGA on 25th August, 2021.

It was learnt that this was followed by a visit by the Education Secretary of the council to the school to ascertain the true position of the report and afterwards set up a committee to investigate the matter on 27th August, 2021 even as more girls opened up on being sexually assaulted by the same teacher.

It was gathered that Galadima appeared before the committee and confessed to the crime, during its meeting.

The board through its Public Relations Officer, PRO, Idirs Kolo made the disclosure to DAILY POST in Minna, stating that the accused deserves to be punished for what he did to the children.

He explained that before any further action would be taken against him, the teacher must be suspended first from work.

“The accused is presently with Child Right Protection Agency. We have to move him from Borgu to Minna to save his life from mob action by parents and families of the victims. They are all furious over what he did to their daughters.

” The management of SUBEB has suspended him because, what he did cannot be swept under the carpet by anyone. The state Governor, Alh. Abubakar Sani Bello is not happy with the development,” Idris explained.

When DAILY POST contacted the Director, Niger State Child Right Protection Agency, Barrister Maryam Kolo, she confirmed the development in the school to be true.

She explained that the Agency has facilitated the transfer of the case from Borgu LGA to Minna, so that it can be thoroughly investigated..

Also, confirming development, the State Police command through the Public Relations Officer, PRO, DSP Wasiu Abiodun said the State Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Bala Kuryas has ordered for a thorough investigation into case.

He added, “the social welfare unit of Borgu LGA reported an incident of defilement of 3 girls of central primary school, Karabonde to the Police on 27th Aug, 2021.”

“An eyewitness saw the Okada rider in the company of the boy because they live in the same house.

"He actually took the deceased from Mafi Dove and crossed the creek Mlagoe to Aflokofe, where he allegedly committed the crime.

"He initially got the boy drowned to ensure the boy becomes weak before murdering him.

“The alleged perpetrator went and hid himself with one Prophetess Flora Ekpe, who is believed to be associated with the crime.

"The culprits have since been arrested by Battor Aveyime Police Command."

Cristiano Ronaldo could end up wearing two different shirt numbers for Manchester United this season, Metro reports.

This is because the Premier League might not approve Edinson Cavani’s decision to hand over the No.7 shirt.

Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford on Friday after 12 years and now the discussion is about what number CR7 will wear.

Manchester United have submitted their shirt numbers to the Premier League with Ronaldo customary No.7 registered for Edinson Cavani.

United legend, Rio Ferdinand has already revealed Cavani’s willingness to offer his shirt to the Portuguese superstar but Premier League rules may not let that happen. [color=#d7e0c9].[/color]

According to EPL rules, no club in the league change a number assigned except for exceptional circumstances.

Section M of the rule book relating to players’ identification and strips states: “Before the commencement of each season each club shall allocate a different shirt number to each member of its first team squad. A club shall likewise allocate a shirt number to any player joining its first team squad during the season.

“While he remains with the club, a player will retain his shirt number throughout the season for which it is allocated. Upon a player leaving a club, the shirt number allocated to him may be re-allocated.”

But the 36-year-old could still wear the No.7 shirt in the Champions League and wear a different one in the Premier League.

There are no rules restricting players from using two different shirt numbers in European and domestic competition,” Metro reports.

Zamfara State Governor, Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawalle has expressed dissatisfaction over the alleged involvement of politicians working against the restoration of peace in the State.

Governor Matawalle who was seriously angry with Nigerian politicians told DAILY POST in a phone interview that politics now in Nigeria has become a do-or-die affair, saying that democracy is supposed to be ”the government of the people by the people.”

The Governor wondered why some people who claim to be the leaders of the masses would turn back and begin to kill, maim and kidnap those they falsely claim to be protecting.

Reacting to the recent attack on NDA, the governor said that no place in Nigeria was safe in the entire Northern region, calling for urgent action to address the ugly trend.

“It is unfortunate if the bandits can go up to NDA and kidnap the officers. I think the government has to look into it and maybe declare a state of emergency on security in the entire northern region.

“Some people have been calling on the government to declare a state of emergency on education and other sectors but the lives of the citizens are more valuable than education.

“I still insist that state of emergency has to be declared first on security so that the security personnel can be mobilised for more purposeful assignments in some parts of the country to deal with these criminals.

“If Zamfara to Sokoto could not be accessed due to insecurity, we are in trouble. Many of our rural areas are inaccessible as a result of banditry and the bandits have taken over many parts of the state.

” Even my administration’s jingles towards ending insecurity in the state has proved unsuccessful because politicians are sabotaging my efforts.

“Residents of the state should not see me as a leader that does not care for the people he is leading. Many people do not know that I am grieved over what is happening in my State.

“Just yesterday, we concluded with the repentant bandits to secure the release of the people that were kidnapped in Rini village; about 83 of them and people are there to receive them.

“We are working round the clock with the Police Commissioner on how to make people sleep with their two eyes closed but unfortunately some miscreants are still taking the laws into their hands”[color=#d7e0c9].[/color]

The Governor accused some politicians of supplying logistics to the bandits for political gains, pointing out that it was bad to play politics with security.

“I have been saying times without number that the issue of security is for all the citizens, not just for the security personnel or the government.

“But it is unfortunate that here in the North, some politicians are happy with what is happening because they think that when people are being killed, they have the chance to come out and campaign; to blackmail the sitting Governors, the President and other politicians.

Matawalle also accused social media handlers who are being used by what he described as disgruntled politicians to be posting negative content on the security situation in the State in order to create tension and confusion.

He called on the Police Commissioner to arrest such social media handlers and bring them to book to serve as deterrent to others.

“I asked the State police boss to take serious measures because sometimes, these people will post an attack even before it happens and after it happened. How did they know this?”

Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State, has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to invest the funds being borrowed into profitable ventures to enhance the country’s socio-economic development.

Obi made the call on Thursday while speaking with journalists shortly after his courtesy visit to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State in Ibadan.

NAN reports that Obi, who is the Pro-Chancellor of Dominican University Ibadan, led top management of the institution on the courtesy visit.

He said that debt was not bad when rightly applied and used for investment that would improve the economy.

The former governor said that the economy would have been doing better if funds borrowed had been invested and rightly spent.

Obi, a Vice Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP in 2019 elections), urged the government to use the funds wisely.
According to him, what develops a nation is education, health and things that can pull people out of poverty.

Obi said that more people would be thrown into poverty if the government failed to invest in those things that would improve the economy.

On the newly signed Petroleum Industry Act by President Muhammadu Buhari, he said the law was needed.

“But, the government would have considered the five per cent being demanded by the host communities.

“We must learn to care for those who are generating resources for us, whether it is petroleum, VAT or other things.

“We should consider supporting communities or areas where we generate the income we are sharing,” he said.
