Jamaica beats India 2-0

So it's going to be a rematch of the 2025 final

I hope Jamaica beats India because it would be embarrassing watching Nigeria play against India. Jamaica would be a more worthy opponent. angry
That Jamaican team can be very discouraging at times. They play even worse than Nigeria before Chelle. They will likely win though (India is simply too far below them and also have a non-existent attack since Chhetri retired) but watch how Jamaica are gonna struggle like mad.

For context this is the same Zimbabwe that troubled Egypt and South Africa at the last AFCON and almost beat both.

I think this "C-team" have done a fantastic job.

Really an emotional period for Manchester City. Many will talk about the amount trophies won. To me it was about the growth of the team. Watching players moulded into legends.

From
Bernardo Silva to Aguero, Kevin De Bruyne, Laporte, Walker, Cancelo, Sane, Sterling, Gabriel Jesus, Zinchenko, Delph, David Silva, Phil Foden and others.

Even this season, the second half was a masterclass when Pep brought in Semenyo and Guehi.

We have seen excellent football displays and it is down to his passion. Pep will surely be missed.
I wish him well. The guy absolutely dominated England. He will surely have his detractors due to his style of play, but there's no denying that he could produce results.

Good list; the goalkeeping department is as strong as it has been in years. Maduka Okoye, Author Okoronkwo, and Stanley Nwabili are the best trio I have seen since I started following the Super Eagles in the early '90s. The CD positions are very strong too. Emmanuel Fernandez, Calvin Bassey, Chibuike Nwaiwu, Benjamin Fedricks, and Vince Osuji are the strongest we have been in the CD position since our golden generation of the 90s. The right-back position is very good when Ola Aina becomes available. The left-back position needs improvement. I don't really think that Eric Chelle sees both Bruno Onyemachi and Sanusi as starters in the Super Eagles he is trying to build. Both of them are really backups, and I know he is desperately looking for a starter in that left-back position. The midfield is getting really strong and promising. Tochukwu Nnadi, Ebenezer Akinsamiro, Victor Eletu, and Israel Isaac Ayuma's development will take that midfield to another level. I don't really understand what Victor Eletu is doing in AC Milan's U23. He needs to go out on loan to the Netherlands, Belgium, or even Switzerland to continue on his football development. Suleman Sani and Ademola Lookman on the left and Zadok Yohanna and Chuwueze on the right will give the Super Eagles a devastating wing play in the coming years. The strikers' position is very strong. The future looks bright. NFF Please, in the name of God, allow this man to mold this team into a formidable force in world football.
@bold, I'd argue that Enyeama+Ejide+Aiyenugba of the late 00s to early 2010s were a more potent trio, but that's just my thoughts.

Na this Owen Oseni wey weak me pass for the list. I just want to trust that Eric Chelle knows what he's doing and that there's a solid reason he's being included.

In both lists for that matter.

Btw, whatever happened to Salim Fago? I recall some people here giving him props after the friendly against Egypt before the AFCON?

On Paper we should qualify for this easy but we all know how Nigeria is. Will the NFF renew Chelle's contract?? His contract runs out next year yet they NFF keep playing games. When he leaves and the useless alhadjis in Abuja hire Eguavoen or Finidi una eye go clear. We need stability now more than ever. This group is exactly the kind of group that can mess us up like we saw in the WCQs.
I don dey put eye for that Guinea-Bissau. They're the most likely to pour sand in our garri if the NFF keep derailing our boys with their nonsense.

I believe we will qualify sha. We just need to win our home games for crying out loud.

Till this world go end dem never born Morocco and Drc to beat us home and away without breaking a sweat….If dem born morocco well make them play replay of that afcon match on a neutral soil without all those home advantage gimmicks dey pull at us…
Baba na one good quality coach we need to sweep aside all these powerhouse wannabe
To be honest, even that DRC game was a fluke. Those DRC boys actually got off very lucky. Despite how terrible, fatigued and physically unprepared we were because of that little strike before the game, we almost still beat them. They couldn't score a clean goal against a shambolic Nigerian side for 120 mins.

Just imagine if Arokodare hadn't fluffed that header. It won't even get to extra time. And that's with us still playing the rubbish we played.

I said it from the beginning that the strike was going to affect us in that game, especially since we already went 120 mins against Gabon barely 3 days prior.

Morocco own be say Dem get 12th man for field during the semifinals against us (that bad belle Ghanaian ref). There were so many opportunities we had to punish Morocco with counters when they were pressing on in the first half, but the Ghanaian referee no wan hear say we carry ball enter Morocco's half.

To think I used to respect this brother. I had to log in to my alt just to confirm 😂

TheSuperNerd: Whatever feeds your curiosity on why I am still here talking Nigerian football. You blindly call it ego. Others call it consistency. I personally call it undying love and passion for Nigerian football exploits.

Like I said, your intentions are not good. Only people with issues with why I have not stopped call it ego.

And I have taken sabbaticals at different points. Several Months at a time even. Please just run along. Your 5mins attention seeking is over. Oh I forgot... there is a block button.
Before I even reply this post, your "reply-and-block" maneuver is the ultimate red flag of your insecurity. Worse of all, it's a desperate and transparent attempt to seize the last word while physically shielding yourself from the consequences of your own gaffes.

The funny thing is by blocking me, you’ve basically admitted that your so-called "consistency" is too fragile to withstand an actual rebuttal, and so you've resorted to retreat into your high castle of narcissism where your delusions of grandeur will remain unchallenged.

Of course you had no choice. Further revelations of hypocrisy on your end might have pushed you over the edge.

Bad logic dressed up as passion has a way of going unchallenged in spaces like this, and someone occasionally has to decline to let it settle. That's the only reason I've bothered to respond to you, before people here start thinking you actually made sense when you've just been spewing a whole lot of sentimental beans.

Abeg make the blocking permanent, so that I can tune out more sentimental blowhards and egomaniacs like you in the future.

And you said that is all you were going to say. I knew you were lying. I just knew you would say more. Please, it is clear what your intentions are and they are not good. Those that know the truth wont bend it like you intended.

So run along, I did not bother reading. Thank you.
For someone who "just does this for fun," you sure are sensitive about your unofficial credentials. You didn’t read what I typed yet somehow you’re certain my intentions are evil? That’s some impressive delusion.

If you were actually above the tussle, you’d have stopped typing ages ago, but your ego can't help it.

TheSuperNerd:
And this is exactly the nonsense narrative I am avoiding.

I did not discover Osimhen. I never said I did. And that was never the point. You are deliberately using "discoverer" to cover or infact dodge the point.

When Osimhen was yet to "blow", there were some of us in this thread who already pictured him as the next big thing and staunchly stood by our belief in his talents despite his struggles at Wolfsburg. That is the point. From 2015 to 2017 and then to his first senior pro goal in 2018, we were here even in the face of major negative statements like he wont fit in at the U23s of Championship sides.

So again, no one is dragging anything with anyone here. Just set the records straight and dont try to be clever shifting the conversations to make it a kind of tussle for discoverer tag. No one here discovered Osimhen and it was never the point of discussion.
This is becoming rather hilarious. Okay, so you've established that you championed Osimhen early, without fanfare, without tagging him, without needing recognition, just a guy simply doing what he loves quietly and without agenda. So I simply acknowledged your primacy in this thread and you... rejected the acknowledgment because the exact word I used wasn't precise enough? Lmao.

Dude which one is it? Please pick a lane. It's either you don't care about the credit and this whole conversation was unnecessary, or you care enough about it that the framing of a concession bothers you.

You cannot hold both positions simultaneously and then turn around and accuse me of trying to be clever.

I called you the foremost discoverer. You said you didn't discover him, you "already pictured him as the next big thing and staunchly stood by our belief in his talents despite his struggles at Wolfsburg" (your own words. Oya no wahala. Fair enough. But at the end of the day, that distinction is so thin that it only matters to someone who is, in fact, keeping score. And there is nothing wrong with keeping score. Just own it.

My position is simple: Banky heavily champions Osimhen now, and you've been championing him since before now. Both can be true without it being an attack on your legacy.

And if you truly didn't care about the validation, you wouldn't get this offended by someone actually giving it to you, and start penning all these redundant epistles, playing musical chairs with semantics.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by FiveFootNinja(m): 11:31am On Apr 28
TheSuperNerd:
Many others have done so too across social media and it is when Osimhen was already known. Basco, Safarigirl and myself began the Osimhen hype before Osimhen became the household name many on socials know him now to be. It is easy running a race for a known entity not an unknown one.

So dont let recency bias cover the truth. I have been doing this long before anyone came on board and I did not limit it to just Osimhen. I did not do mine to be noticed. I did not tag Osimhen or do any of that... I did not have to because I did not want to. Na him come find me. I just enjoy promoting Nigerian football and following up on the exploits of our players home and abroad. I have my own life and I have my own story so football reporting is just a fun pasttime for me coz I love Nigerian football. Players come, players go.... before it was Mikel and Nacho and Ighalo, now it is Osimhen, Iwobi, Chukwueze, Lookman... their time will pass and we will still talk about the new names rising.

So please make una stop this narrative as if person dey drag anything here. I just do what I do. Nothing else to it.
Big man, your status as Osimhen's foremost discoverer on this thread was never under contention. That's all I'm gonna say.
