"Goodnight dear." Toun said,she watched as he drove off,it was some minutes past seven.
Toun came in and closed the door,she just saw Kelvin off,she had been surprised when he appeared that evening.He was seeing a friend in their area and he just popped in to say hi.
"He's gone." Rekia asked.
"Yes."
It was three days now,since Rekia let her friends in on her secret,but she had turned down every attempt to discuss the issue.It wasn't even showing on her face that she carried so much weight on her,the cooking,clubbing,partying were all a facade to hide what lay underneath those beautiful eyes of hers.
"So what's he waiting for?" She asked non-challanlty.
"I don't get you."
"I mean when is he going to pop the big question?"
"Well." Toun sighed,"I don't know."
"You should bae,you're the oldest among us,its time you walk down the aisle." She said.
"I'll keep that in mind,and thanks for reminding me." Toun flung her a pillow.
"And if he's taking time,you do it yourself."
"Meaning?"
"Propose to him by yourself."
"You're crazy bae,this is Nigeria not America.
"Does it matter?you propose,he proposes,abeg the important thing is the proposal." Rekia laughed,"But wait,how many guys propose,just find a girl,sleep with her,and take her home."
"Abi o,I'm not a fan of this public proposal stuff,I prefer something upclose,personal and intimate,perhaps in the shower,bedroom,just the two of us."Toun said.
"Hmmm,that sounds romantic." She winked.
"It is."
The girls concentrated on the tv programme,"Have you noticed something of late? Toun asked turning down the voulme of the tv set.
"What's that?"
"Ade hasn't been coming here,I think something is up between them." She voiced her concern.
"Thank God,its not just me,I asked her the other day,and she grew defensive and all that,so I shut my mouth."Rekia said fiddling with her phone.
"Really?"
"Yep."
"You know we should talk about you." Toun said swiftly changing the topic."I have tried to google ..."
Rekia gasped,"Google? Google what? Please forget it,I am fine."
"No you're not."
"I am."
There was an awkward silence in the room,as the girls stared at each other.There was a knock too.
Rekia got it,"Good evening,what can I do for you?"
"Miss Hannah?"
"Yes." She answered and signed a book the man gave to her after receiving two shopping bags from him.
She closed the door after thanking the delivery man,"These are for Hannah." Her eyes were almost popping out of their socket.
"Wow"
Rekia began to unpack the bag,there was pizza,chocolate,chicken crunchies,and some provision items.
"Hey."Hannah buzzed in."That's for me,Ade just called to inform him,he sent me some things,you know he's been busy of late."
She picked the second bag and unloaded,two pair of shoes,a designer wear and three fancy scarf."This is beautiful." Rekia picked the shoe."I saw something like this the other day at Tafo,and a pair costs 10k."
"I like this one."Toun said picking one of the scarf,"And I'm taking it."
"See thief."Rekia laughed picking a scarf too and a box of chocolate."I'm taking these."
"Eeeeeh" Hannah screamed,"I have been robbed o,see thieves." She got up and packed every other thing running to her room.
The girls followed suit,Toun pulled Rekia back,"You see,the guy is probably busy,but he made time to shop for her,aunty amebo."
"Yeah,you're right,Kelvin left a while ago,and Ade sent Hannah a truck load of gifts,I am the only one with a problem." Rekia smiled mischieviously."Let's go get her."
The girls laughed as they ate pizza,but three hearts were in obviously in pain.
Toun worried on when Kelvin was going to propose.
Rekia worried about her secret,but Hannah worried about Ade,she watched the girls laugh with tomato sauce from the pizza in their mouth but no one knew she had sent those gifts by herself.she figured her friends might begin to suspect,so she shopped after work hours and asked for it to be delivered at her house.
It was all arranged,so who was she deceiving but herself.

Well done flakky. Only if this can be made to a TV series. It just keeps getting better. In terms of the width and depth of individual character development. I have to say this is my best ever story on Nairaland. Almost every character can have their own spinoff story. Brilliant writing flakky. Can't wait for the cliffhanger regarding what jaiye always wants to see Jane for and what rekias secret is.

"I am beggining to get worried o."Hannah got up stretching out her leg,as she held a comb and a mirror to arrange her hair.
Toun hissed,and sat on the sofa facing her friend,"She's just buying time for my anger to subside before returning home I guess."
She had just returned this afternoon,Adekunle didn't seem to be aware of all that transpired the other night,so she was mum about it.They cleaned the house which was a mess from the party,they had breakfast together before leaving,bading her mother bye in her room.
It was a breezy Sunday afternoon,Adekunle dropped her off,and she invited him in.He left not quite long.She in turn explained to Hannah what transpired between Rekia and her brother.
"Knowing Rekia,I don't think so,but why is she not picking up her calls?"
Toun scoffed,"That's her business sha,I need to relax,I mean not just my body,my heart and definetely my head." She got up and off she went to her room.
Rekia picked her phone and dialed Hannah's number again,the door clicked and someone walked in. "Stop calling my phone,I'm home already and I guess she told you what happened,don't even judge me cause that's the last thing I need." She said flunging herself on the couch.
Hannah clapped her hands three times,"Nawa o,see defence,I have not even attacked you,awwwh bae you fumbled last night,and Toun is mad at you."
"Toun is mad at me,you are mad at me,so who is going to be on my side? Huh" Rekia scoffed."You guys are so selfish,all you think about is yourself,what about me?" She screamed.
"And what about you sleeping with my brother?" Toun shot at her from the door way coming fully into the sitting room with a glass of water in her hands,she placed it down and faced her friends.
"POC,we were just kissing,now listen,you two are just self centered,you think you're the only ones passing through hard times,damn! I'm passing through hell." The girls had never seen her this subtle and emotional,this must be serious.
"Okay,calm down,what's eating you up?"Toun asked coolly.
"You can't understand."
"Then make us understand,we want to help you,Rekia please." Hannah pleaded.
"Oh no,you can't,its beyond you,you will not be able to comprehend." She was crying seriously,totally shaken and nervous.
Toun sat by her right hand side,and held her hands,squeezing them gently,"I used to think no one could comprehend my sorrow,until I let it out,look,sharing your problem is part of letting it out,it'll ease the burden off you a bit."
Rekia got up and in fury picked the glass of water that Toun dropped,she smashed it against the wall giving way to a shattering sound,as the pieces of glass splattered across the floor.
"You want to talk about it?" Toun asked calmly.
Hannah urged Rekia to speak,"Please?"
"No,I don't want to talk about it,I want to show you what it is." She said leading the way to her bedroom,the girls followed her sheepishly.She got in and closed the door after the girls.she pulled off her jean trousers,and carefully removed her pant.
The girls were held spell bound,just like a horror movie,they were intrigued and captivated,there was pin drop silence as they starred at their friend.
Rekia stood naked from her waist down,then in slow motion,she lifted her leg,opening it wide for her friends to see.
"Jesus Christ." The girls chorused at the same time.
At first,Toun thought she was dreaming,something was happening to her mind,in her head,she froze in terror,she turned to see a dazed Hannah who looked shaken and horrified.
Rekia wore her clothings back,"I hope my secret is safe with you." She said walking out of the door.

"I like that boy." Jacob said knotting his tie in the bedroom,it was some minutes past seven and he was getting ready for work.
"Who?" Janet asked,cleaning her hand with a napkin.
"Toun's younger brother."
"I kind of like him too,so what about him?"She asked.
Jacob turned away from the dressing mirror to face her,"Maybe he can work with me,he has a sharp mind,he seems focused and determine,and that boy is brilliant." He smiled.
"Talk to him,then."
"No,I'll talk to Toun first."
"Hmmm,your breakfast is getting cold." She said,holding his hands and leading him down the stairs.
"Mummy,I want to change my hair." Eve said climbing in her seat.
Jane sighed,"You'll do that after you get back from school,right now,eat or you'll be late for school."
"Mum I also... ..."
"Shhh..don't talk when food is in your mouth." Eve cautioned her brother.
"Hey kids,let's have some peace,I want to speak with your mummy." Jacob said,he placed down his fork.
"Look baby,I want you to go that party,I'm going to be on my best behaviour,I promise."He pleaded with her.
"Dad is calling mum baby,so what are we?" Adam whispered to Eve.
"Well,dad says,its romantic."
"What's romantic?"
"You pecking Rose during lunch break yesterday."Eve shot at him.
"You...um um say us?"
"Yes I did."
"Huh..she's my friend."
"That's bad you know,but I'm not going to tell anyone,so don't try it again."
"I won't."
"What are you whispering about?" Jane called to the kids."You'll be late for school."
"Yes mum" they chorused.
"Aishat."
"Yes ma"
"Clean up where they ate,and get their lunch box in the kitchen."Jane said,Jacob kissed the children,before Aishat led them away.
"Please Jane."
"I really want to go,but I don't want to sacrifice our happiness again,I have a feeling something is going to come up again.No one is going to notice my absence,Its just a party." She answered calmly.
Jacob got up,and came to her side,"Its not just a party,what about Cynthia? You want to disappoint her?our business friends would be their with their wife?what would people say?"
"So publicity is what you're afraid of?"
"No,I want you by my side please."
"I'll come."
"Really?"
"Yes."
Jacob embraced her ,"I'll never forget this moment,I love you so much baby."
"Thank you."
"That's...that's rude."
"Love you too."
"Now." He sighed,"I can go to work with peace of mind,I have a good feeling about this." He moved closer to her."And please don't take your bath until I get back from work,you'll need someone to scrub your back." He giggled.
"No way"
"Yes way baby." He said picking his briefcase."Have a nice day."
"You too." She said blowing him kisses in the air.
Jane prayed her heart would not explode with this beautiful feeling that was getting her excited,now this was the man she married,her husband.she laughed heartily as she hurried up the stairs,she wanted to fit the dress he gave her for the party on.
Nnamdi watched his madam,"This woman too dey fall in love,see as she dey laugh." He chuckled,"Love is sweet."

And honestly,unfulfilled promises is a learner beside this one.
The improvements are so obvious,the plots are well constructed,and the characters vivid.
Although at a point,I got bored of Gio's description and his family's wealth,and then the designers were too much.I see you dropped them already.That's great!

I love the way you paint the characters,your conversations are fluent,your grammer is good,then the body languages are great,and your description is quite better.

Olayemi is Biyisi's last child,a spoilt boy.Her first child is Adetoun,followed by Adekunle,Adeola and Olayemi.

"Your momma is going to fine." Kelvin assured her,planting a kiss on her forehead."I can't wait to meet her though."
"Yeah,just don't get your hopes high,she says she wants to bless us,before she goes,the doc says she doesn't have much time left." Adetoun said."You know,I think I stayed away too long,and a lot happened in my absence too."
"Don't start with the tears now,you don't have to punish yourself for that,we learn as we grow,and as we grow we learn too.let it go." He said circling his arms around her."I'm glad you did this."
Adetoun smiled happily,"Let's start going you know,the others will be on their way now." She said getting up from the couch,she picked her jacket and her purse.
They walked side by side out of the sitting room,she stopped in her tracks,"Thanks for supporting me on this mission,it would have been impossible without you." She squeezed his hands.
"I love you Kelvin."
Kelvin smiled.
"What are you going to say?'
"I'm stuck with the most beautiful woman in the world,what else am I supposed to say other than I love you too baby." He said,lifting her up her feet.He kissed her passionately on the lips,and she responded too."Let's go inside." Kelvin whispered almost out of breath.
"No,we're going to be late." She said.

The journey to the hospital was a quiet one,another thing she loved about this man,was his ability to take in situation,as if on cue,he'd let her be alone with her rumbling thought.
She was nervous,her mother had insisted on meeting her new family,the Smith's and the Odenuga's.The woman on the bed wasn't the Biyisi of old days,this new woman was kind,soft hearted and loving.Maybe its true that the closer you get to death,the more love you need.
It was difficult convincing the doc to let them all in at once,there was Jane,Jacob,the twins,Hannah,Rekia,Bibi,Adekunle,Kelvin,Adeola and a not too happy Ade.
It was quite a re-union,with Biyisi saying so many loving things,the doc said she could go home,and maybe the re-union was a safe medication,because her heart responded better to treatment.That was not to say,she was fine and all,but it looked like Biyisi was buying herself time by allowing her heart to be happy,it was a good exercise.The doc said,she should stop counting the years,but rather live in the moment and cherish every passing minute because it could be her last.
The little get-together ended at Biyisi's home,where some snack and refreshment were served and everyone chatted happily.Some close friends had been invited too to welcome her home.Although Biyisi had been to bed,Adetoun could not help sneaking up to watch the woman while she slept.
Toun was the happiest,putting old corpses to rest was better definition of peace of mind.Adekunle would not let her out of his sight for a minute,they had spoken at length today.He had graduated with a second class upper and now works in a multi national company with a six digit salary and other luxurious benefit.Toun was so happy for him.
Adeola is currently seeing a consellor and is in her sophomore year in school.Everyone seemed happy to have her around.
"You're the only one here who is not smiling." Hannah whispered to Ade,"Just smile a bit for me please." She got up to speak with Rekia.
"That guy is cute." Rekia smacked her lips,
Hannah looked around,"Who?" She followed Rekia's eye.
"You got to be kidding me right,that's Toun's younger brother,you're an old mama you know." Hannah pinched her friend.
"Does it matter,age is just a number,I'm so far from thirty,abeg give me a break."She sipped her wine.
Hannah scoffed,"Just leave the young man alone."
"That's better,but let this young man make dcisions for himself."She chuckled quielty.Toun and Adekunle walked hand in hand to meet them. "Hey girls."Toun laughed.
"Hey you too." Rekia smiled."Its so nice meeting you kunle."
"The pleasure is mine." He laughed sweetly.
"Can you please excuse us." Rekia said pulling Kunle away from the girls."We'll be right back."
"What's with her?"Toun asked.
"She likes your lil handsome bro."
"For real?"
"Yeah,I mean if I wasn't engaged,I don't mind you being my sister-in-all." Hannah joked lightly.
"You're crazy sis,because he is not just my lil bro,he is our little handsome bro,do you get that?" Toun smiled,she took a sip from her drink.
Hannah did the same,"But Rekia is for real,she likes the dude though."
"She's out of her mind, and I'm going to break her head,if I see her near him."Toun said walking away.
Hannah sighed,"That's non of my business,I've got enough on my hand,like this dumb ass of a man that I am in love with." He was no longer in his seat,she saw him talking sweetly to her mum,sweet charmer.

It was some minutes to seven,some of their friends were about to start leaving,she searched around for Adekunle,so they could appreciate them for coming,but he was no where to be found.she was walking along the corridor when she heard a sound,like someone kissing,she opened the door.
It was Rekia kissing her brother passionately,she was going to get mad and she knew it."Are you out of your mind?that's my brother." She gasped.
"Yeah,I kissed him fine but,he kissed me too." Rekia replied getting up from the bed,but before she could step away,Toun landed a hot slap right across her mouth"whoosh" Rekia's lip was bleeding as she picked her purse and stormed out angrily.
"Adekunle?" She called,disappointed by his actions.
"Sis." He drawled.
Toun saw the empty bottle of whiskey and some tablets on the stool.The idiot got him drunk,and probably slipped something into drink."Rekia is a bastard." She hissed,emptying the remaining drink on the floor.

"It is a long story." She managed to say,her voice was shaking and so was her body.she could feel another pair of eyes on her,
"Why do you have tears in your eyes Kunle?" Adeola asked coming to his side.
"Look at her,don't you know her anymore?can't you recognise her?" Adekunle almosted shouted.His breathing high.
"No."
"Sister Adetoun." He whispered,like her name was some secret.
"No no no...." She was starring harder at Toun."Oh no...its her.Sister Adetoun." She flunged into her arms.In all her dreams,she had always expected a cold reception from her only step sister.
Adetoun recognised her now,but how come she looked older than her age,"But....Adeola,how come you look old,I couldn't even recognise you."
Adeola was silent,unusual for a girl who used to speakly wildly without control or respect.
"Hmmm,a lot of water has passed under her bridge,she looks old because she has had four difficult abortion without our knowledge,and she still went ahead to get pregnant a fifth one,this time,the quack doctor could not even make an attempt,because she was not pregnant with one child,she was not pregnant with two children,she was pregnant with three children." Adekunle paused to catch his breath.
Adetoun was in a state of shock,she was taking in too much information than she could digest.Her heart raced faster and faster.
He continued,"The first one was in the left fallopian tube,utopic pregnancy,the second one was in her right fallopian tube,utopic pregnancy,the third one was in the middle,by the time they did the x-ray,they had to cut through the fallopian tube and monitor every development,she was in the hospital for five months.Unfortunately only the one in the middle survived.and that's the child clinging to her,this old woman woman before you can no longer carry a child.My darling sister has learn't her lesson the hard way." Adekunle finished,he was sweating profusely.And Adetoun was now beside Adeola who was crying.
"Sister." She said quietly.Toun couldn't remember if Adeola had ever called her that."Maybe if I had listened to mummy,maybe if I had listened to Kunle,maybe if I hadn't let youth exurberance get in the way of my educatiom.......maybe.....maybe if you were here.It wouldn't have happened."

Adetoun bit back the tears this time around,maybe.....a slight maybe.maybe if she hadn't stayed back all those years.Things might have taken a different course.

There was a moment of silence in the room,"I'm so sorry about all this,I really am,please forgive me."

"Where is .... .....Olayemi and daddy?" She couldn't bring herself to call him father again. The silence grew deeper.

This time Adeola volunteered to speak,"After you left,mum almost ran mad,dad wasn't getting much contract,he was always home lazying around.And Kunle also hated him for what he did to you.They almost fought one day,because he consantly reminded him of his ugly misconduct.Mum would not let him be,she nagged him a lot,he lost his respect around her and he resorted to drinking and gambling away the few money he had left."

"By this time,Olayemi had also grown wild and deviant,not even Kunle could control him,he joined dad in his dirty gambling after dropping from senior secondary school two,since he was rusticated for drugging and beating up a teacher with his gangs over a female student.One sad and unforgettable morning,Dad pleaded with mum to forgive him for all that he did to you and also begged that you forgive him wherever you may be,that same evening,Olayemi accompanied dad and they went on a drinking spree,on their way back,they were too drunk to see the trailer speeding across.They both died at the scene of the accident." Adeola burst into fresh tears,Adekunle joined her and finally a grieve stricken Adetoun.

She had missed so much,she wished she had come back earlier."Mum?" She waited carefully to hear that she was dead and long buried.
"Mum is fine." Adekunle answered.Toun heaved a sigh of relief,she couldn't handle another death report tonight.
"Where is she?"
"Inside.....in her room."
"Why hasn't she come out all this while?"
"She can't."
"Why?"
"She's bedridden,she has a terminal disease,one that if money could cure,I would be eager to spend my entire bank account,but the doctor said she can't make it and no need to bother on any surgery."Adekunle looked sad now.
"Have you thought about flying her out?"
"The doctor said it would be a futile effort,all that she needed was soft medications and prayers.And for the past three years,she has lain on that bed,praying for you to come home so that she can apologise and her soul can find some rest." He stood up and she followed him.
The foul smell hit her nose before she saw her,or rather the remains of her mother.the Biyisi she knew was chubby and full of life,but this pack of bone with a ragged face couldn't pass for her mother.she looked sick and dying.Void of life and old. Adetoun touched her and the woman on the bed opened her eyes,they were tired looking and haggard.
"Adetoun." The woman said breathlessly,and all of a sudden,she began to cough heavily,she wanted to speak but the cough was stopping her.she wanted to get up,but she couldn't.she was gasping for breath,she was losing it.
"Call the doctor." Adekunle shouted trying to steady his mother with a cup of God knows to her mouth,his hand were shaking so was the woman on her death bed. Adeola grabbed the phone and said the doctor was on his way.

A stubborn part of her asked her to walk away from that black gate she had known for years.But a tiny little voice,like a child's against an army of soldiers gently urged her to do the deed.
It would be useless to have stayed in the car for four hours waiting for the covers of darkness,and now that she got it.she would stand and see this to the end.Memories flushed in her mind,and her days in this one storeyed building played over and over in her head.After gathering enough courage,she raised her hands to knock the gate.That was before she noticed a black SUV car driving towards the gate,she stepped away and pretended to be a passerby,while the car honked,and the lady she saw in the afternoon came out to open the gate.She watched the car go in,she couldn't make out the figure or identity of its driver.
It was getting darker,as she moved towards the gate to make one last effort.This time she knocked on the gate.she couldn't believe her ears when someone answered,and before she could scurry away like a rabbit.The small gate opened in her face.It was the same lady,this time,a little child held on to her.
"Good evening." The lady said,since Toun refused to say a word.
"Hey...um..um...good evening." She stammered. "Who are you asking of?"
"I want to see Mrs Adepoju." She inquired in a voice that didn't belong to her.Did she just refer to her mother like a stranger?
"Heaven help me" she murmured quietly.
"Come in." The lady closed the gate after her and led the way with the child. She was too farmiliar with the building,the stairs and the people in it.
The lady opened the door that led to the sitting room,"please come in."
Adetoun Adepoju Omolewa stepped in,trying to make sense of everything,the lady's face looked farmiliar,but she couldn't place it.The sitting room looked exquisitely furnished than what it used to be,the sofa's had been replaced with multi coloured ones,the electonic gadgets,the paintings that hung on the wall.They must have come into good money,she deduced,heaving a sigh.
"Adeola is that you?" A male voiced asked from inside.
"Yes,mum has got a visitor."She said aloud."Have your seat ma."

She wondered If this was Adeola,but no,it couldn't be,she looked older than her.
"I'll be out in a minute." Adekunle said,his voice had not changed one bit.though firm and masculine.she would recognise it anywhere anyday anytime.
Adeola excused herself,to get the visitor something to drink.Adetoun got up,starring at an old family portrait of over twelve years now.she remembered it was the the first day of the year when the picture was taken,and she had smiled happily at the beautiful lace material her mother had handed her to wear.Even though she never wore it again.she was still starring when the air in the sitting room grew cold and wild.she froze in motion.she could feel him.He was in there with her.And she knew he would recognise her instantly.
But she was mistaken,she didn't have to face him before he knew who had her back to him."Sister!" He exclaimed wildly,as hot tears clung to the corners of his eyes.
It took her ages to turn,to face him,she could feel the shattering emotion as he rushed towards her and cradled her in a passionate timeless embrace,almost crushing breath out of her.
"Sister!" He called again,not believing his eyes.He had tears in his eyes this time and he couldn't stop them from running loose.
Adetoun was too pressed to say a word,she was dumb struck,as she opened her eyes to take in the picture of the grown man standing before her.She had to look up to meet his eyes,cause he was taller than her now.he had broad shoulders,muscular arms,he looked fit,like a runway model.He was definetely handsome and his face when he made an effort to smile was the best.She took all this in two full minute of starring at him.
He lifted his finger to her eyes,she didn't even know she had tears on her face until he wiped them away."What....what....what took you so long Adetoun?"

"Take a look at this." Rekia thrusted a pack at her friend."This is beautiful." Hannah examined the piece,it was a white coated neck band,with two piece of earrings and a hand chain.It looked beautiful,but it must be quite expensive too.
"Yeah,this looks great,but it must have cost so much." She said,handing it back to her.
"5k"
"That's much,but considering what you have in your hand,its worth it." She was tired,she had come back early from work,today being a friday.But she had been unable to sleep much,she had so much on her mind.She glanced at the wall clock."Did Toun tell you where she was going?"
"Nope."
"It's almost seven and she's not yet back." Hannah said.
"She's not a kid,let her be jare,by the way I'm going out tonight." Rekia smiled.
"Hmmm,a date?"
"Clubbing,you want to join me?"
"No way."
"You're too dull,anyway I need to loose some energy." She laughed,"But I hope that doesn't stop you from helping me pick something to where."
Hannah laughed,"That'll be after I put something in here." She said touching her stomach.
"There's potato porridge with lots of fish and some vegetables,if you don't mind."
"I don't mind." Hannah answered.
Rekia followed her to the kitchen,Hannah served herself,adding a glass of juice to the tray,they returned to the sitting room,She selected a tv station and they sat down to watch.
"Wait o Hannah." Rekia said all of a sudden.
"What is it?"
"I haven't seen Ade here in a while,are you guys cool?"
Hannah almost choked on her food,she dropped her spoon carefully,"We're cool."
"He's busy with work,that's why,and you know being a manager is not a child's play."She added,digging into her food.
"Don't you think its weird,how about weekends too,you haven't been going out too."
"Ahhh,abeg leave me,I said he's busy,what part of busy do you not understand?" She said angrily,getting up,she picked her tray and left for her room.
Rekia watched her leave,she put off the tv and replayed their conversation in her head,where did she go wrong.she found none.she picked her phone it was ringing.

Hannah dumped the food on her dressing table and sat on her bed,Rekia had just succeeded in ruining her appetite.she hissed aloud.But the poor girl seemed concerned for real.
Truth be told,Ade had only called her once since their introduction party.And she too once.Well,section 1 of their deal said two phone calls in a week and it must be to discuss something important no chitty chat .

And she had exhausted the two calls trying to plead with him,to call off the deal.She shouldn't have agreed to those crazy terms in the first place,but her emotions were on the loose that day,and she didn't want to be a disgrace to the family if he refused to show up.She had hastily agreed to all those nonsense.Now she couldn't even call him on will.
She picked her handbag,and retrieved her phone.she speed dialed his number,he picked up at the third ring.
"I hope what you're calling me for is extremely important." Ade said without waiting to exchange any pleasantries.Hannah maintained her cool."Yes."
"Be fast,I'm busy."
"We need to talk please."
"About?"
"Us."
"Us is a deal,or you forgot?look don't call me excepts its worth it." He stressed the "worth"
The call was over,because he ended it.Hannah starred at the phone.She wished all these were not happening at all.She was crying again,and her head was pounding.

"The minute I turn my back from you,you begin to misbehave,where is your sense of reasoning?you're a married woman for chrissake." Jacob yelled as he marched the break violently.They were returning from Hannah's introduction party,the party ended in the afternoon but his wife had insisted that they keep the Kenneth's company before leaving as two of Kenneth's children were home from the states.
Things had gone from good to bad,the moment he saw his wife taking picture with one of the elder kenneth in what he considered an intimate position.John K as he was fondly referred to by the family had placed his hand on Jane's shoulder while the picture was being taken.Jacob had gone hay wire,loosing every bit of his senses the moment he saw them.In no time they left the kenneths,but Jane had refused to say a word to her husband,because she knew it would be useless with his temper on the loose.
"You never cease to amaze me Oyin,you know right? You're so quiet here,making me look like the fool.Is there not something in your head that is supposed to let you know that you have crossed the line?" Jacob continued to speak.
"I take care of you,I give you everything you ask for,what else do you need woman." He was quite shaken.More grieved because Jane wasn't putting up any defence.
Jane must have dozed off because when she woke up,they were home.And Jacob was no longer in the drivers seat.she checked her watch,it was some minutes past eleven.They must have arrived nothing less than one and a half hour ago.And he cared less to wake her up.
Her husband's temper was something else,flaring up at the slightest opportunity.she got down from the car,picked her purse and went in.The last thing she wanted was another bitter exchange between her and Jacob.She dragged her tired self up the stairs.The guest room sounded like a better option.


The car was parked two houses away from her old house,the glass was wound up and she picked the bottle of water on the next seat,removed the lid and drank some.The water seemed to have calmed her jaunting nerves.She looked up and starred at the house,she wished she had the courage to get up and walk in.
She watched as a young lady walked in through the gate holding a little girl of about three years.she sat in the car for another one hour before she decided to get down.

"What's the issue? Cynthia asked closing the car door as she got in."You don't look good."
Jane sighed,"I ..um..feel bad,my husband is at again." She said clutching the steering.
"Okay,calm down and tell me what happened." She inquired.
"He's changed,his temper,it boils....he....um...he's mad at me again.look Cynthia I can no longer comprehend this,its tearing me apart,I can't find the man I married....I just can't." Pools of tears gathered in her swollen eye,they escaped fast and trickled down her cheeks.
Cynthia let her cry out her pain and anguish,before pulling her into an embrace."Everything is going to be fine dear." She said softly.
"I know he is going to apologise and I am going to forgive him again,but for how long will this game continue?."

"He won't have any reason to always suspect me of having an affair or feel jealous,if he's not cheating on me Cynthia." For a full minute,Cynthia looked out of the window. "Is there something that I should know?"
Cynthia laughed,"You know what? Jaiye is a two timing idiot and we all know that,but I don't see Jacob doing that,he's too decent for that, just as my husband's mistress issue disappeared like magic,I have a feeling all your nightmare will go away soon." Cynthia comforted her.Her husband's mistress had woken up one morning,packed all her stuff and disappeared.It was sheer magic,Jane had told her.
Jane's face creased in a smile for some seconds,"You know,you're my best friend,and I trust you so much,I can never repay you for always been there for me all the time.May God bless you for me." She smiled,a full one this time.she was a bit relieved and she felt better.
It didn't come as a surprise when Jacob called and asked her not to make dinner,that he'd ordered something for everyone.she wanted to argue at first,but she let it slide,for peace sake.

That was the usual routine,he would run his temper,speak unprintable words,and then come back crawling with his irrefusable peace offering and a big wild smile that her tender loving heart would just not be able to overlook.

And when he came back in the evening, he showered and wore that powerful feeling evoking cologne she bought for him,she felt stupid for doubting his fidelity to her.

And even when he held her in his arms that night in bed,she wished she could summon some courage to slap him,but the electrifying sensation churning in her stomach made her want to do just one thing.And that was to make love with him.And that was exactly what happened.But for how long will this game continue?

"Gbam gbam" She banged the gate noisily.She was impatient for a reply,before hitting the wine coloured iron gate again.It had been her idea for him to ask for a transfer to his lagos branch.and it had been magic when he got a promotion to their lagos branch as a manager.And she had helped him find a house too.
"Who be that?" A gruff hausa voice answered from inside. Hannah knocked hard again.
"I dey come o." The voice repeated unlocking the gate.
"Ah madam....na you?" He said opening the small gate for her to come in. "Yeah Kofi,is your oga in?" She asked.
"Hmmm" Kofi scratched his hairless head."Oga dey,but him talk say,he no wan see anybody." He explained in pidgin english.
"Why....and does that include me?" She asked bewildered.
"I no come know that one o,because his face strong ,his eyes come red when he waka come inside yesterday....and since then him never comot."
"What happened to him?' She asked.
"He no tell me,he just dey shout say women no good,say him no fit trust any woman again." Kofi explained what he heard Ade saying as he walked into the house yesterday.
Hannah sighed,"That's fine,I'll go in and see him now."
"But madam....."
"Kofi relax......I'll be right back." She walked towards the front door with the little courage left in her.Luckily for her,the door was unlocked.
She went in,and dropped her bag in the brightly coloured sitting room,"Ade....?" She called,there was no response,so she made for the bedroom,he wasn't there,she moved to the bathroom he wasn't there either.Fear seared into her heart.As she walked towards the kitchen.
"Ade?"
"What do you want in my house?" Was the reply she got.He was sitting at the dinning,a bottle of whisky on the table and a half filled cup.
"Ade......I have to come to see you." She said quietly,she came to stand beside him.
He was quiet.
"I really don't know where to start from or how to.... ...."
"Why not start from the part where you had your boss in your arms." He finished for her.Hannah's jaw dropped in surprise,how was that possible? How did he know?
"Surprised right?"He said looking straight past her.
"Don't be my dear,this is not hearsay,I saw you with my very own eyes,I came back for you yesterday,hoping we could work things out,but aghast you have moved on to someone else,and so quickly too,because right under my nose,you were smooching another man." He spat. "I just hope he is aware of your status too.Or did you lie to him too."
"Please stop it,I have realised my mistake,that's fine.But you can't leave me please." She pleaded as water glistered down her cheeks."What will I tell my family and friends tomorrow?"
"Just tell them the truth."
"What?.....how can you be so callous,I will rather die than face them with the truth".
"Then lie as usual."
"Adegoroye!"
"Yes,lie to them,just cook up something,make up a good lie." He said without blinking an eye.
Hannah forced the tears burning in her throat to go back,she was at loss on what to say,"Please give me one last chance to right my wrong,I'll die without your love in my life,please don't do this to me." She was on her knees now.
"I was foolish I agree,I was wrong I concur,but please don't punish me,how can I live everyday of my life without you." She was crying heavily.
For a minute,Ade felt sympathy for her,he had really been disappointed by her behaviour.But he didn't want to act stupidly.
"Its alright I have heard you."
"Oh my God." Hannah got up and rushed to embrace him,but he stepped away from her. "Why?" She looked disappointed.He saw it on her face.
"Please leave my house now." His face was without a tinge of emotion.
"Ade I won't,I will stay here till you forgive me."
"I said leave before I call Kofi to walk you out,I bet you won't like it."He said walking out of the kitchen.
Hannah was silent,her hands on the floor,what was she doing? Begging him to marry her? Had it come to this stage?she couldn't put a name to this madness.Perhaps it was just love.perhaps,perhaps and another perhaps.
Ade stopped in his tracks when he noticed that she was still there."Am I over reacting?."He said to himself.
No I am not,this is a woman who lied to me about such a sensitive issue only for me to turn around to find her in the arms of another man.
"Hannah get up now,and leave my house."
"Ade please don't do this to me."
"Are you begging me to marry you?"
"Yes."
Ade stopped to thing for a minute,
"Will you do anything I ask of you?"
"Yes" she answered wothout thinking.
Ade let out a wan smile,his eyes not giving away a thing,his arms akimbo,"Its fine then,let's make a deal."
"A deal?"
"Yes,a deal."
There was something unusual about this Sunday morning,as she got up from bed.She grooped for her bible.she murmured some words of prayer before moving to the bathroom to clean up.
The blasting of music from the sitting room caught her attention,she cleaned her face and went there to find Rekia and Toun in bumpshorts sweating as they rocked their body to the tunes.
She found the remote and paused the music,there was a shout from both girls.
"C'mon girls you're going to blow down this house." She said smiling.
"That's the plan,you know today is your party and we intend to have fun to the fullest." Rekia laughed.
"What if he doesn't come?" She asked and the reactions on their faces was a wow.
Toun blinked twice as she spoke,"That's some kind of bad joke se u know."
"God forbid such a thing,look toun this girl is a winch,please don't spoil our fun jare." Rekia hissed before snatching the remote from Hannah.she put the music on play and pulled Hannah to the middle.
In no time she forgot her whims and danced away her sorrow.she was certain he would show up with his family.He had assured her and it was a sealed deal as long as she complied with her part.she smiled to herself as she shaked her butt to the music.

Episode 101

"Her door is locked from inside." Adetoun said,after trying effortlessly to open Hannah's door from the outside,she was a little tensed."When did you arrive home?"
Rekia scratched her hair as she tried to remember,"I got home quarter past six,I noticed she was home already,I was wondering why she came home earlier than usual,but I began to hear faint sighs and sob,I knocked but she wouldn't open." She sat down on the couch now,her eyes on her friend.
"She must be crying or something." Rekia finished.
"Do you think we over acted the other day?" Toun asked,she felt bad for Hannah,and she and Rekia had put up a show just to make her speak out before it was too late.
Rekia shook her head,"I don't think so."
The girls sat gloomy in the sitting room,they turned back when the door creaked open."That's her." Toun said jumping out of her seat,Rekia followed after her.
"Hannah." She called.
Hannah turned back,"Toun you're back.How was work today?" She had a plastic smile plastered on her face.
"Fine,how about you? You came home early,anything the matter?"
"Nope dear,I'm good and kicking." She said moving towards the kitchen."I'll make dinner,you girls can relax."
Rekia and Toun stopped to stare at each other,they couldn't remember the last time she volunteered to cook."Really?something is happening in this house o." Rekia clapped her hands together.
"Abi o."
"Masquerade don dey waka for night for this house o." Toun laughed.
"Look girls,I have gist for you,let me finish cooking." She laughed before hanging the apron over her cloth.The girls sat around the table to eat poundo yam with vegetable soup with lots of beed and pomo,it was a tasty meal.
"You wanted to tell us something." Rekia reminded her.
Hannah smiled washing her hand,"Actually I still remember." She said taking her time.
"We're listening please."
"I spilled it." She said.
"Spilled what?" Toun asked.
"I spilled the beans,I told him I was positive." She answered without a care.
"And?"
"And what?"
"I meant his response."
"Oh...nothing."
"And the introduction party?"
"Its going to hold." Hannah answered. "Thank you God." Toun knelt on the floor before embracing Hannah,"I'm so happy for you."
"Now we can truly celebrate,its just six days away anyway,we can start popping the champagne from now." Rekia smiled happily. "Little wonder you made dinner,you're so lucky girlfriend,men like Ade are rare,abeg hold am tight o."

"Now you see,you should have told him long ago,true love conquers everything." Toun said,drinking water from a glass cup.
The girls burst into laughter."So can I take a look at your engagement ring."Hannah asked.
"Check check check." Rekia screamed.
"It was just part of the drama." Toun confessed. "Drama?"
"Yes dear,we planned that,Kelvin didn't propose,we only wanted to provoke you to tell him,I'm sorry babe." Toun said.
"I'll kill you girls tonight." She said running after them as they ran out of the sitting room.

For three consecutive days,Jane wept.It was hard,yes,it was hard to believe that her darling Jacob could hit her on the cheeks.
She had expected him to apologise that night,but from the looks of things,he wasn't any mile closer to that.she didn't want to cry but she found herself doing just that,and what was more? No body would believe,not Cynthia and definetely not her mother.Jacob was more like a mini god before their eye.she was determined to fight for herself,no man would trample her like that.
After returning from work,she made up her mind to give him a piece of her mind,she wouldn't mind the aftermath,things needed to be put in place.It was a tasty but boring dinner,she watched as he struggled to start small conversations at the table.But it wasn't working.she didn't retire to her room immediately after dinner,she went out and sat alone on the patio gazing at the beautiful blue sky,the stars were out in numbers and she loved the view.
The breeze was cool,and she watched it ruzzling the pool water,it would be nice to take a dip and exercise her body.It teased her at first to go in and get a swim wear,but she knocked out that idea from her head.She had a lot ahead of her.she must have dozed off when she felt a light tap.
She stirred and then looked up,it was Jacob standing in front of her like a guilty witch doctor."What is it?" She asked to break the awkward silence between them.
"I'm sorry."
"That's what you say after three days?" Jane snapped at the figure before her.This man would drive her crazy one day,that she was certain of.
Jacob looked down at his feet,"You don't have to make it harder than it is already,I'm sorry,I shouldn't have hit you,I was angry,I let my emotions give me ride.I didn't mean to hurt you."
Jane knew she should accept his apology and let go,but she had this somewhat strange feeling,"Jacob you soiled my dignity,you slapped me."
"I really don't know how you feel,but I'm not going to accept this apology,you can take it somewhere else." She brewed,got up and spat,walking away into the house.

Jacob stood still,he hated himself for slapping her,he should have controlled himself,he wouldn't be in this situation only if he had listened to his heart.He followed after her into the house.
She was in the toilet,he could her sobbing,he waited for her to come out.If he had to go on knees,he would do it.He couldn't bear it anymore."Oyin" he knocked on the door.
But there was no answer,"Please come out,I need to talk to you." He pleaded.
"Just away." She yelled from inside."I don't want to see your face,please leave me alone"
Jacob was near tears now,he wanted to make things right,she needed to give him this chance.
"Oyindunmade please."
He heard the tap running,then there was a click,and the door opened.Jane came out and moved to her side of the bed,but Jacob blocked her."You can't stay mad at me forever." He said.
And that was a fact,she knew it was hard to stay mad at him,especially when she had to look into those drop dead gorgeous eye,and his firm athletic figure.She couldn't stay mad,but she was willing to try.
"Jane I am really sorry,forgive me." He pleaded pulling her hands into his."I promise you it will never happen again."

"Jacob... ..." She gave in,but he cut her short."Shhhh shhhhh" he whispered in her ears."I really didn't mean to hurt you my love,I'm sorry I lost my temper,it won't happen again."
Jane wanted to resist him,but the way his hands played with her ear lobes made her loose it.she just wanted to be in his arms forever.she truly loved him,and would never share her body with anyone except him
"It's alright,I forgive you darling." She said quietly. Jacob pulled her into his embrace and she was glad,it was comforting and soothing to her.
"I love you Janet."
"I love you too."
He made her sit on the bed,he crossed to the dressing table and picked a packed bag,he gave it to her.Jane removed the pack,it was a brand new smart phone.
"You like it?" He asked.
Jane smiled,"I love it."
He let his hands slip around her waist and she dropped the phone,she clung to him like lovers sharing a secret moment together.
"Would you like me to UnCloth you?"Turnabout is a fairplay,isn't that how it goes?
"Yes...," Janet heard herself whisper."God, yes."
Then Jacob touched her again,and he undressed her.Their clothes was everywhere in the room.
Somewhere in the hours before daylight,between them,they touched,caressed,they made love,not once,not twice but three times before dawn.It was wild,hot,exhilarating,passionate,vigorous and fun.It was slowly and purposeful in ways beyond her darkest imagination.

Hannah cleared her bedroom for the uptenth time,she had hanged her ironed dresses,and folded the rest.she made the bed and put everything in order.she sprayed a good amount of air freshner before turning on the air conditioner.
She opened her wardrobe and fitted on the blue floor length sequence lace gown for her introduction,it was just two days away and she was excited,and not only that,she was worried.
It was four days now,that Ade had left,but there was not a single word from him,he wasn't picking her calls any more and several of her messages were not replied.He even failed to respond on his social media accounts.
It was disheartening,and the tiny stream of hope she had was drying up faster than expected.she examined herself in the standing mirror,she looked absolutely fabulous,but would she ever wear this gown?What if he didn't show up with his family?Everyone would want to know what happened.She prayed that her secret would not be in the open soon.Oh poor Bibi would cry herself to death,and Janet? And Jacob? And the shame would just be too much for her to bear.
She pulled off the dress and moved to the dressing table,she made herself comfortable on a chair and opened the last drawer on her right.She put her hand inside and brought out a small plastic bottle,it was white,it had no inscription on it,and that was because after collecting her antiretroviral drugs,she would tear off the paper name on it.she shaked the plastic.She hadn't taken her drugs for four days now.
She wondered the use of swallowing the pills everyday just to keep her viral load in check.People still find it hard to associate or mingle with HIV positive patients.

She replaced the plastic and stood behind the curtain,her friends were very excited and love had returned among them,she wasn't ready to inform them,her husband to be had been avoiding her and that the introduction might not hold.Her phone was ringing,it was Jane.They concluded arrangement on the caterer's choice of food and she was to inform Ade's people to arrive as early as ten.The event would be taking place at their mother's house.Kenneth had given his suppport too.It would be a small family gathering.
The clock read quartar past seven,and there was a soft knock on the door,"Come in" she answered."Hey babe." Rekia came in,"You have a visitor waiting in the sitting room" she said.
She knew it was Ade,"Gracious God" she mumbled to herself,and thanked God for giving her this beautiful chance to love once again,she had just been worried nothing."Where is he?" She asked,excitement in her eyes and it was obvious in her voice.
"He is in the sitting room"
Hannah changed into something appealing before stepping out,"Let's go and see him." She smiled happily.
"Why are you starring at me like that?" Hannah asked,the way Rekia was looking at her,it was like she had poo all over her body.
"Why is he here?" Rekia asked in reply.
"What kind of question is that?
"I mean what does he want here,your big day is around the corner,I don't want anyone spoiling it for us." Rekia spoke in a serious tone.
Hannah stopped in her tracks,"What exactly are you talking about?I am confused."
"Well,why the excitement?"
"I am beginning to get pissed,my fiance is here,is that enough reason to get excited." Hannah asked,she was visibly crossed as she folded her arms under her breast.
"Your fiance is not here,its your boss who is here." Rekia hissed and walked away leaving Hannah standing,she unfolded her hands."What!" All the while,her adrenaline was flowing juicily thinking it was Ade.It took her five minutes to relax before stepping into the sitting room.
The flowers were the first thing that caught her attention,"Good evening." She greeted him sitting on the couch opposite him.
"How are you Hanny?"
"I'm fine sir."
"You don't seem happy to see me."
"Ofcourse I don't want to see you,you don't look like my Adegoroye." That would have been a good reply,but not palatable to the ears.
"Ofcourse not." She replied instead looking down at her feet.
He felt uncomfortable with her pose and response,"I just wanted to drop in and say hi." He stood up on his feet.Hannah saw him off to his car which was parked outside their gate.
"What does this bonga fish head of a man wants?" Rekia said immediately they closed the door.
Toun hissed,"I really don't know." She peeped through the window." Let him not come and spoil show for us o,which kind yeye visit be this."
Rekia picked the flower and sniffed it,it was pleasant to the nose."Na me go put this thing for my room sha." She said in pidgin.
Toun looked at her laughed,"Wetin dey keep this babe now?"
"I be winch? I dey here with you,how I wan take know now." Rekia burst into laughter and Toun joined her.
Hannah stood by the side door,while her boss stood by her."I have come to accept that I can't have you.I only wish your fiance realizes just how lucky he is to have you." He said quietly.
"But I have this feeling that something is wrong with you,you can share with me,it wouldn't hurt to do so." Her boss said.
Hannah would have loved to,her boss was quite intelligent and when it came to profering solutions to issues,he was good.She was tempted to tell him but this was not a issue that concerns a third party.
"Its nothing,just a little mis understanding with my fiance." She answered. "I thought as much,just relax its two days away,you'll sort things out in due time." He smiled at her.It was genuine and she appreciated those kind words.
He extended his hands and pulled her into his embrace.She was in his arms for two full minute.She felt safe,but it would have been safer if it were Ade's arms.She was missing him badly.she felt his lips on her cheeks,he had just pecked her.she pulled away gently.
"Thanks for coming,and the flowers too." She smiled when he held her hands now."You're welcome." He smiled."I am glad you like it,don't hesitate to come to me,if you're worried or in need of anything."He said getting into the car.
She stood there while he drove off,at least she felt better now.Maybe she shouldn't lose hope,perhaps he might call or just show up now,she wished,she wished and she prayed it was so.she waved at the car and ran into the gate.
Less than four blocks away,a car pulled out and turned around,driving out of the estate,heart shattering,and hands holding firmly on to the steering wheel.
He had thought that,they could right things again,perhaps they could take another test,and when he set out from home,he knew he was coming to take back his girl,he had realised that his love supercedes all that,but coming back to see her clinging to a man whom she called boss was definetely out of it.
He had wanted to climb out of the car and beat him to a pulp,but crushing his legs with his car wasn't a bad idea too,but the prospect of spending sometime in jail didn't look too good.
Perhaps women were just the same every where,but lieing,and cheating was off it.He had just lost his woman.Adegoroye was angry,he accelerated the car and joined the queue crossing towards the express.He was gone.

Jane dropped the phone after speaking with Hannah,the tension in her sister's voice hadn't gone unnoticed.Perhaps she was just a little bit anxious.
It made her remember how whe felt before getting married to her husband,anxiety and nervousness were a ritual for every bride to be.
She had eaten early because she was hungry and couldn't wait for her husband to come,she ate with the kids.Adam's bandage had come off yesterday but she didn't want to raise the issue to avoid stories that touch the heart.
It was some minutes past seven,her husband would be home any moment from now.she must have fallen asleep on the couch,because when Aishat woke her up it was very dark."You have a visitor." She said.
Jane went downstairs,sitted on the couch was Jaiye,he was wearing a black shirt on denim jeans with a black shoe to match.A black shade took solace on his face.He was relaxed and calm as he scrolled through his phone in his hand.
"Jane,how are you." He called upon seeing her. "I'm fine o Jaiye,how are you too."
"I'm fine."
Jane sat down.
"My husband is not home,you should have called him before coming." She said picking the throw pillow in her arms.
"I know he is not home,and he won't be home any time soon." He said sitting up.
"Is anything the matter?"
"No dear."
"So why have you come?"
"I have to come to see you again."

"I am Hiv positive." Hannah broke the sad news to Ade in a very cool manner,she looked at him,trying to read his dumb expression,she had just thrown a bomb and she expected a blast.

Ade got up from his seat pertubed,he fought hard to contain himself,his emotions were at war,he was trying to think,to put his thoughts together,to fully understand what she was saying to him."You're what?"

"I am Hiv positive." She repeated,she just had to do it now and forget about it,enough of burdening herself with the weight of her sin.she knew what was coming and gladly waited for it.

"Since when have you known?"
"8months ago."
"Are your friends aware?"
"Yes"
"Your family?"
"No."
"Why are you just informing me?"
"I didn't know how to go about it."
"How did you contact it?"
"Through intimacy."
Ade sighed,and walked back to his seat,"I'm glad you told me,I will not break up with you dear,my love supercedes that." Hannah's face lit up in surprise and pure gratitude.Her introduction was just 6days away and she had finally crushed the only barrier to her breakthrough.
"I love you Hannah" Ade kissed her lips.
"I love you too." She replied,she was happy and then a piercing sound rented the ear,she tried to grab Ade,but he was gone,she was afraid and began to scream,her scream filled the room.

Gbam! The door flung open,and Toun came in,she was still in her robe as it was 5am in the morning."Are you alright?" She asked sleepy eyed.

Hannah rose up from the bed,turned on the bedside lamp,"What happened?" She asked herself.
"You were screaming,are you okay?" Toun repeated.

It was a nightmare again,"I'm fine,thanks." She mumbled as Toun closed the door and left."Not again" she hit the bed with her fist.She got up from the bed and removed the battery from her alarm clock.

Perhaps that night mare was a sign from God that things would be fine,she picked her bible and said some words of prayer to God,she was seeing him this evening,he would be picking her from work.she sighed,"One can run but not forever." The hour has come.

The picked the bottle of water by her side and drank to her fill,before preparing to go to work,she hoped at the end of the day,she would be able to laugh into her friends face.

Her eyes were almost glued to her wrist watch,it got to a point she removed it in other to concentrate,she had the office to herself.In the space of three hours,she had commited two file errors.The boss called for her,"Have your seat." He said to her.
Hannah lowered herself into the seat,without meeting her boss's eye.
"You don't seem to be okay." He had gone straight to the point."Are you having issues with anyone?"
"No sir."
"A problem shared is half solved."
"I am quite alright sir,just a little headache." She lied.
Her boss was quiet for a minute,"Perhaps we can talk better over lunch." He suggested.
"I'll be fine sir."
"I'll ask my secretary to get you lunch and some medications,you better take the day off,I hope you get better." He said.
She wanted to object at first,but reconsidered,maybe she would feel better at home."Thank you sir." She got up.

She was walking to her office when she heard Bolanle's voice."I saw her go into his office just now,my fears have been confirmed,I hope its not what I am thinking." The office busy body ran her wide mouth. Imole tapped furiously on the keyboard,"Hanny is a decent lady,she'll never succumb so easily." She replied,her hands off the key board.
"You never can tell,anyways I'll ask Chioma what she thinks about it.Plenty things dey happen for this our office o,no be only me go hear am o."Bolanle said and lifted her hands from Imole's desk only to see Hannah standing behind,she almost jumped out of her skin,seeing the look on the latter,it was obvious that she had over heard their discussion.
"Imole....okay....I'm going to....to ...go and go....and come back...."Bolanle stammered as she disappeared down the corridor.Imole felt bad to have been caught in the act of gossip. "Hannah,how are...how are you?"
Hannah stared down at her before walking away without a word,she closed down her work on the system and shut down before leaving for home.She dropped by a popular eatery to grab her favorite Vanilla flavour iced cream,she drove home amidst the wide thoughts on her mind.
She informed Ade that she was home already,she was surprised to see him that afternoon,he looked good and smelled nice,she loved this particular cologne on him."So why did you leave work?" He asked after settling down on the couch.
"Just an headache,and my boss asked me to take the day off." She explained to him."I hope you're better now."
"Yes I am."
"Do you want to see a doctor?"
"No I'm fine."
They discussed so many issues,ranging from his work to family issues and others,Hannah was scared shit to face him with the truth,she was nervous.
"I want to tell you something important." She began.
"What is it dear?" He had seen her fidgeting some seconds ago.
"I really don't know... I..."
"Calm down and stop fidgeting,what is troubling my baby?" He said getting up to join her.
Hannah felt like throwing up,she couldn't look him in the eye,"Promise me you'll not leave me."
Ade became afraid,he wondered why she was asking him to make a promise."Cross your heart."She said and he obeyed her out of anxiousness to hear her.
"Adegoroye." She called his full name.Ade knew something serious must be up.He was scared too.
"Please forgive me,I have lied to you." She began to cry.
Ade got up,"Is this some kind of drama,what has happened?"
"Listen up,your problem is mine,anyone who hurts you must be preppared to face my wrath,just speak up and stop scaring me." He came to sit by her and held her hand in his.
"Adegoroye,I am HIV+" she bluttered before she could stop herself.
Like a bees sting,Adetoye got up quickly,he ran inside,and found a bathroom,he poured water in his ears,something was wrong with his hearing."What were you saying?"He asked.
"I am carrying the virus." Hannah repeated,she waited for five full minutes,but he didn't say a word.
"No wonder you wouldn't let us get intimate,little wonder the sullen look,each time I kissed up,no wonder you pretended to be drunk at the beach.I must have been a fool." Those were the few heart wrenching words he spoke before leaving her.He got to the door,he cast one last glance at her,he wanted to say something,but couldn't,the shock was overwhelming,he had to get away from her,far away as possible.
Twin tears strolled down her cheeks as the door closed,she heard him drive out of the compound,at last it was over,just six days away from her introduction,she hoped her friends would be glad to know that,the engagement was over now.
She closed her eyes,and prayed for death,to save her from this impending doom,what would she tell her family now.she reeked of filth,she had lost all her will power,her strength was gone.
All she wanted now was death,as she slumped on the chair,she could feel her soul departing from her body gradually,finally at peace with her maker.

Jane Smith stood by the blinds that looked out of her office at the store,the town was bustling with activities,it was just about 40 days away from Christmas.
Her business was growing well,and customers patronised the store on a daily basis,her stocks were of affordable prices and of good quality.The store had been expanded to accomodate variety of products and merchandise.she had over twenty staffs on her pay roll.
It had become a routine for her to resume by 10am and leave by 2pm in the afternoon except on rare occassions,she was getting ready to leave for home when a knock sounded,it was her secretary,she had a bunch of flower nicely wrapped on her hands.
"Who brought this?"
"It was a despatch rider,I think there is an envelope in it ma." The lady said before dropping the flower.Janet waved her off and picked the card,it was addressed to her but without a signature or name of sender.she sniffed the flowers,they were fresh and scented fine.
She picked her car keys and left for home,she had barely settled in,when a call came in from the kids school that Adam was involved in a little accident during Lunch and sustained some bruises on his left hand,he had been attended to but the boy insisted on seeing his mother,and that he would be brought home soon.

Jane was anxious,what could have hapened to her baby,she called Aishat to prepare the kids room and make some egg and plaintain for the kids.Their school bus arrived soon,she collected the kids and took them in.she examined his bandaged hand,it was nothing to worry about.she made him eat and sleep.

Jacob came home late,he was having his supper when the children came to see him,the bandaged arm was the first thing he saw,"Jane did you beat him?"
"Ofcourse not,it was an accident." She answered.
"What kind of accident? What kind of mother are you? How could you be so careless with the kids?" Jacob fired at her.

"Its not mummy." Eve said,looking at her father."It was from school."

"Why do you always flare up when it comes to Adam,I am sure if it was Eve,you wouldn't have blown up in this way." Jane hissed aloud.

"They're both my children." Jacob said in suppressed anger.

"And mine too."
He pulled the boy on his lap and drew Eve closer,"Now tell me what happened in school."

"It was at lunch hour,our class mistress asked us to go to the lunch room with our lunch box,but Adam refused to follow the line,he bumped into Edet Collins,who pushed him in retalliation,he fell and injured his hand." Eve explained truthfully.

"Who is Edet Collins?" He asked.

"He is our class mate."

"Was that not the same boy who hit him on the cheeks the other day?"

"He is the one dad." Adam said.

"Jane give me the school's line."
"No one will pick it,its past eight already."
"I want the principal's number."
"Please stop this,kids play and fight in school,that's part of learning,I don't see any reason for you to stir up trouble." She answered her husband.
"I see,a bandaged hand is not enough reason right? What would be enough a reason,a broken leg or a punctured eye.I'm going to sue that Collins father,I'll sue that school,I'll sue everybody." Jacob got up,his anger had taken their full course now.

"Please calm down,Adam's hand will heal up in no time,the boy is fine." Jane tried to persuade her husband.

Jacob stared at her,"What kind of a mother are you,your son comes home with a bandaged hand and you're so cool about it.you need to get your head checked."

"Aishat!" Jacob screamed.
The girl appeared,"Take the kids to their room."
"Now give me that number!"
"I don't have it." She said matching his one.
"Jane give me that number now."
"I really don't have it."
Before she could say Jack,he had picked her phone to search for the number,"You have a password on your phone?"
"I do."
"What is it?"
"Just hand me my phone."
"Give me the password Jane." He was loosing it already.
Jane turned to walk away,but he was fast,he pulled her back,almost tearing her blouse.Jane slapped his hand away.
"Don't you injure me." She snapped at him.
"Unlock this phone." He commanded her.
"Have I ever asked you to unlock your phone,or your laptop,so why do I have to unlock mine?" She faced him fully.
Jacob laughed,"So you have been touching my things,where did you come about this sudden confidence?"
Jane was silent.
"Answer me." He screamed at her.
In anger,he smashed her phone on the fall,"Jacob!" She screamed.
She wanted to grab him by the shirt but a resounding slap echoed on her cheeks.
For the first time in seven years of marriage,Jacob Smith slapped his wife.Jane watched him disappear up the stairs dumbfounded,she stood like a drenched puppy.
And Jane wept......

Episode 99
Yesternight's excitement seemed to have vanished as they had breakfast,before the children left for school.Bibi fed Eve much to Adam's chagrin,even after their mother offered to feed him,he insisted that he wanted Grandmama Bibi to do so.The children were a sight to behold as they argued.

Thus Bibi had to exchange hands in feeding the children,this was a duty she would be pleased to perform over and again,it was not every mother who lived to see there grandchildren.Jane glanced at the big wall clock in the large sitting room,it read quater past seven,her husband would come down any minute for his breakfast.She raised her head in time to see him walk down the stairs,he looked great as usual as he came to the table,he greeted his MIL and sat at the end of the table.Jane served him sliced boiled eggs and vegetables with a glass of fresh milk.Just as she turned to leave he tugged at her blouse,"Have you told her?" He whispered in her ears.
Jane's eyes danced with rage as she tried to calm down,she quickly sat down and gulped a glass of water,before picking a pair of fork and knife she drummed on the table calling everyone's attention.When they looked up,she cleared and throat and smiled beautifully at her husband.
And he wondered what she was up to.
"Mum" she called sweetly." My husband has something to say to you,actually he had asked me to tell you but I thought it wise if it came from his own lips,over to you dear." Jane heard a fork fall on the plate,she didn't have to look up to know it was Jacobs.She saw beads of perspiration form on his fore head.Since he wanted her mother out of the house,he had better use his mouth,she thought.

Jacob was confused and bewildered at the same time,how could she trap him like that?he must find a way to make her sorry for doing this to him.But first,he had to find a way around this."I'm listening Jacob." Bibi said,she was all smiles.
"Actually I appreciate your coming to visit." He began cracking his brain for what to say as Jane listened gladly."I want to thank you for coming to visit,and also to inform you that if there's anything you'll be needing ,just let me know,I'll make it available." He got up and embraced his MIL before picking his glass of milk,he drank the content and smiled warmly,he kissed the kids goodbye and their mother too and headed to the door with his briefcase.
"Thanks dear." Jane said just as he turned the knob,he spared a glance,as he grinned his teeth. "You're welcome dear." He stepped out.
Jane couldn't believe his ears,when her husband began to speak.she was glad anyway, that was his headache and not hers.The kids had finished eating,they got in the car and the driver took them off to school.

It was much later in the day that she broached the issue of her husband's behaviour to her mother,"Janet" Bibi called with care,"Don't send your husband to other women,with your nosy attitude,the Jacob I know would never do that to you."

"Bibi you don't get it,my husband has a password to his phone and even his laptop,he picks his calls in the bath,how will I not get suspicious with those moves." She complained.
"I understand you,but don't be too quick to judge him.Jacob is one of the few responsible men I have come across." Bibi said getting up,she covered the distance between them and embraced her first child,"Calm down my dear,and pray to God,I believe all will nbe well."how time flies,her little baby is a grown woman with two kids and a husband.

Hannah arrived home from work,she was tired and exhausted,she mumbled a quick greeting before heading for the shower.she soaked her skin in water and felt refreshed,relieving the momory of the day's work,her boss was being extra kind with her of late,and this was brought to her by none other than the most nosy lady at the office,whose mouth ran wide from north to south,and her lips were never at peace.she discarded such thoughts as she stepped out of the shower,she changed into a black sleeveless bump lenght gown.
As she moved from pot to pot,there was no food,she picked two eggs from the freezer and fried it,she boiled two small sized noodles and served herself in a plate,opened a pack of juice and poured a glass,she went to the sitting room,to join the others who were watching a weekly soap opera.Rekia and Toun sat on the rug,a bottle of wine in between them with pieces of minced meat in a plate.
"What's happening?" Hannah asked sipping her drink.
Rekia adjusted in her seat,but didn't say a word."Talk now." Hannah said.
Adetoun mumbled some words and concentrated on the screen.
Hannah hissed at the girls and continued to eat her food,she picked her phone and called Ade,they were on the phone for five minutes,she remembered a picture she saw online,it was a model wearing a beautiful style,she knew her friends would love it.she found the picture." Toun,there's this style I saw online,take a look." She stretched the phone towards Toun. "I'm sure you girls will love it."
Toun did not as much as take a sideward glance as she burst into laughter,"Rekia look at this man o,he thinks every woman should be trusted,not the ones I know anyway." She said pointing at the protagonist in the movie.
Hannah withdrew her hands,staring at both girls as they laughed.As Toun withdrew her hand she saw something shiny on her finger,it was a ring on her engaged finger.Was she engaged,how? When? Where? Those were the questions that plagued her mind.
"You have an engagement ring on your finger." Hannah said,it was more of a statement than a question.
"Oh dear,I forgot to tell you." Toun stood up as the soap opera came to an end and a commercial was on the tv.she was all smiles.
"That?"
Rekia burst into laughter,"Well,our dear Kelvin proposed this evening,when Toun came back from work,right in this room,of this I am a living witness." She beamed.

"Oh my....Congrats dear,we're both engaged to get married,how sweet!." She rushed to embrace Toun but the latter rebuffed her and moved away quickly.
"I'm sorry you can't share in this happiness,because this is a union of truth and pure courtship." Toun scorned her friend and sister.

"What are you talking about?" Hannah asked in shock,the picture wasn't clear.
"I can give a better explanation." Rekia laughed getting up." Toun meant that,her engagement,I mean her union with Kelvin is laced with nothing but the truth,no hidden agenda or boiling secret."

"Get to the point." Hannah snuffed out a tear.

"Well,my own relationship is not one of deceit,so don't you compare us,your's is filled with filth,deceit and lies,but mine is a mixture of honest truth,roger that?" Toun asked picking her glass to sip her drink.

"Look at people I call friends,are you making mockery of me?how dare you Rekia? Toun! I can't believe this." She screamed out as tears rushed down her face.

"You are the heartless one here,you are the bad apple amidst us,or how else can one describe your deceitful act to the one you claim you love,can't you just come out with the truth?" Toun spat out in anger.

"I really want to,but I can't tell him and lose the man I love." Hannah fell on the couch weeping.

"What is love if not truth? And what is love without being truthful? Kelvin knows my past,he knows my ugly dirty past,he knows my life and every pieces of it and he has accepted me for who I am,sweetheart why can't you open up to Ade? Why?" Toun asked.

Rekia stood watching as Toun and Hannah exchanged words,she wished they knew the bit of her life she was also keeping away from them,and her so many deceit.she let out a long hiss and walked out on the girls,every girl to her problem.

"Hannah you have to tell him the truth,you just have to." Toun walked out, leaving a depressed Hannah in the sitting room.Hannah raved,hissed and cursed,she picked the remote control and smashed it against the wall,it went to bits.she let the tears flow like never before,with no one to console her.

"God" she muttered looking up,"Why are you punishing me for a simple mistake,for my foolishness,how can I pay so much for a three minute pleasure."

She knew the words of Toun and Rekia,were truthful.she had no choice than to let the cat out of the bag.And very soon too.There was no going back,now was the time,her mind was strongly made up when she picked her phone and began to dial Ade's number,her heart raced in rapid succession as she listened to the network message saying that 'the number you're calling is out of coverage area.'

She dropped her phone beside her,perhaps God was telling her,this was something that should not be settled over the phone but face to face.

She let out a sigh,the sitting room grew cold,and the breeze rustled the curtains,feared gripped her heart at first,but when she heard rain falling fast and heavy,she felt a new surge of confidence,God was surely with her on this.

It was just after church service on Sunday,their church going was borne out of routine and not the zeal to worship.Sunday lunch was superb,and there relaxing in the sitting room when her step father arrived to take home his wife,the kids had insisted on been taken along.

It took so much persuading and comforting before the kids let go of GrandmaBiBi.Adam made her promise to come visiting soon to which everyone agreed,even a reluctant Jacob had no choice.

It was much later in the night after the kids had been put to bed that Jane also retired to her bedroom.she was pulling the covers over herself when Jacob sat up in bed,Jane knew there was trouble in the air.

"I want to speak with you." He said in a casual tone,Jane braced herself for anything that he would say. "I'm listening."

"I want to apologise for what I said on thursday night." He said.

Jane looked up pretending not to have heard him,"You said what?"

"I know I shouldn't have said that about your mother,I was angry because you didn't inform me of her coming,as a man I felt bad coming home to meet my MIL in my house,it was unexpected." He explained calmly,Jane pinched her ears and prayed that her ears were in proper working condition.

"Actually Jacob,you were impatient for me to explain,Bibi informed me that she was coming over for the weekend,but it escaped my mind to inform you,I was just as surprised as you to see her on thursday,because I was expecting her on friday." Jane duly explained.

"I'm sorry." Jacob said,"I shouldn't have asked her to leave."

"Its alright dear."

Jacob pulled her closer and embraced her,it felt so good to do that once again,he was kissing her hungrily and she clung to him.He hurriedly remove the rope that held her night robe together,exposing soft looking succulent breast and a lush skin just for his desire and exploration.He felt a tingling sensation down his spine as his hands touched her beautiful skin,his hands moulded her breasts,and he almost ran mad in ectasy.

The noise of his phone interrupted their moans of pleasure,Jacob turned back and glanced at his phone.From that moment,she noticed his swift withdrawal.His phone was ringing again,he laid her on the bed and covered her with the duvet.

Jane was feeling sleepy already,she wondered who the persistent caller was,that Jacob had to leave her in the middle of what they were doing.Jane rolled to the other side of the bed,she was aroused already,she clutched the pillow tighter.

The phone had stopped ringing,but she felt Jacob's light movement as he got up,Jane turned back just in time to see him going into the toilet,his phone in his hand.she closed her eyes quickly and forced herself to think of other things,like work and her sister's introduction which was just fourteen days awy.Whether she liked it or not she had to sleep now.

Jane arrived home some minutes past two,she noticed a black toyota camry that was parked in the compound.
It looked odd in the garage amidst their fleet of coloured cars and jeep.she came down and heard the sound of laughter,she asked the driver to bring in the shopping bag as she walked inside.
"Bibi" she screamed as she embraced her mother tightly,she had forgotten that her mother had asked her to bring the children to her place for the weekend,and knowing her husband,she asked her mother to come instead,but today was thursday,she was expecting her on friday which is tomorrow.The days in August were moving too fast.
"Hmmm hmmm." Another voice coughed from across the room,she looked up and saw Kenneth,her step father.She left her mother and crossed the room to embrace her father.
"How are you doing?" she asked making herself comfortable on the reclined sofa. Bibi smiled,she looked strong and healthy."As you can see,i and my husband are fine and kicking." she answered sipping the fruit juice Aishat served her.
Jane was glad to hear that,"How is Kiki and David." she asked after her step brother and sister who were in the states.
"They're fine too."Bibi answered,she was enjoying her relationship with her step children who had taken to her like their real mother. "How are your children?" Bibi asked after the twins.
"They're very fine o,i haven't informed them of your visit,they will be so happy to see you again." Jane bubbled with excitement and rang Nnamdi to prepare a sumptous lunch for them.
As they ate,they discussed about Hannah's forthcoming introduction."She has gotten herself,a fine hardworking man." Kennedy spoke between mouthfuls,"I admire the young man."
Bibi smiled,happy that her children were doing well,"I like Ade too,he's smitten by my daughter,i am sure he would take good care of her." she said,and made some arrangement for the day,it was just two weeks away.
Kenneth waited for the children to arrive from school,they were so excited to see him,he gave them two boxes of chocopologies before leaving.He promised to come pick his wife on Sunday.

The house was agog with excitement as the twins refused to leave their Grandma,it had taken time for them to eat and do their homework.And Bibi also gave them the things she bought for them,ranging from goodies to toys,they all competed for her attention.
Jacob had arrived home a bit late,he was even more surprised to see his mother-in-law.He did well to mask his anger behind a feigned smile.
Dinner was superb and the children bubbled with excitement,with Grandma sitting in between them.It had taken more than an hour to get the children to bed that night,it was some minutes past ten when they fell asleep.Everyone heaved a sigh of relieve,Bibi retired to her room and fell asleep immediately,she had been stressed out already.
Jane and her husband also turned in,she got into bed after a fresh shower,it had been so much fun for her and the children with the presence of her mother."Grandma Bibi" as the children fondly addressed her.
She noticed her husband's quietness,"Is anything wrong dear?" she asked placing the pillow to fit her head.
"Everything is wrong." he said pacing the room.Jane quickly sat up in bed.
"What is the matter?" she asked.
"Your mother is the problem,what is she doing here?You didn't even deem it fit to inform me before bringing her.I have control over my home,and listen to what i have to say to you." He paused to catch his breath. "First thing tomorrow morning,i need your mother to leave this house,she is encrouching on my property." He said in a tone of finalty.He went into the bathroom and returned some minutes later,he got into bed and slept off.
Jane was dazed as she listened to his soft snores.
