We’ll dethrone monarchs involved in politics –Wike November 2, 2016 Chukwudi Akasike, Port Harcourt The Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has said that the state government will remove traditional rulers involved in partisan politics. The governor, who gave the warning in Port Harcourt on Tuesday while declaring open the 104th quarterly general meeting of the state Council of Traditional Rulers, maintained that traditional rulers were expected to serve all their subjects. Seun:It seems that everyone is interested in Nigeria, in one way or the other. |
FG should also create a work friendly environment in Nigeria, where workers will be free to showcase their expertise. |
I think this issue, should be properly investigated and those found guilty should be penalised. |
FG hails Nigerian doctor in U.S. for successful operation on unborn baby ON NOVEMBER 2, 2016 Abuja—The Federal Government has commended a US-based Nigerian surgeon, Dr Oluyinka Olutoye, who successfully removed tumour from a baby in her mother’s womb. In a statement in Abuja, Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, said that the Nigerian Government and people were proud of Olutoye. The statement was signed by Dabiri-Erewa’s Media Assistant, Mr Abdurrahman Balogun, on Tuesday. Dabiri-Erewa noted that Olutoye and his partner, Dr Darrell Cass of the Texas Children’s Hospital, carried out the operation on a 23-week-old foetus in the U.S. “The baby, Lynlee Hope, who suffered from a tumour known as Sacrococcygeal Teratoma, was removed from her mother’s womb, operated on, and returned to the womb. “The baby got healed and continued to grow until she was finally delivered at 36 weeks.” She stated that President Buhari received the news of Dr Olutoye’s feat with excitement and fulfilment and was looking forward to meeting him. The special assistant commended Nigerians in the Diaspora for their roles in projecting Nigeria’s good image. According to her, Nigerians in the Diaspora are a huge potential, playing great roles in all sectors. “Nigerians are a great people, making greater positive impacts in all fields of human endeavour in the Diaspora. Dr Olutoye’s feat is one of such testimonies,” she said. Source: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/11/fg-hails-nigerian-doctor-u-s-successful-operation-unborn-baby/

ON NOVEMBER 2, 2016 Gen Buratai Steals Personnel Allowances – Nigerian Soldiers Editor’s note: You serve your homeland, you risk your lives but then your country just betrays and forgets you… This is exactly what happened to Ebuka Emeka and the Nigerian army personnel who now accuse Lt.-Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai and other top army officials of the appropriation of funds meant for soldiers. Mr Emeka has contacted Naij.com to ask for assistance in resolving the issue and reaching Mr Buratai, stressing a high probability of chaos erupting in case their demands ignored. It is worrisome to note that Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, the current chief of army staff, is hijacking our allowances. How they exploite us Soldiers have complained about some army generals in collaboration with Mr Buratai misappropriating their allowances for personal usage on a regular basis. They said such attitude is weakening the morale of soldiers who are now in foreign missios in Liberia, Mali and Sudan. The militants are aware of the situation their colleagues in Nigeria are in — the soldiers are still awaiting their payments if any to come. The soldiers also complain that only half of allowances were given to them despite their full-time service abroad. Sadly, the chief of army staff doesn’t bother about the welfare of the soldiers, but bothering for his pocket. The soldiers further stated: How would they go to foreign mission and come back only to find their allowances were converted to personal use of the army leadership? Rely only on ourselves The soldiers are using their own money to buy uniform, drugs and other things. If the military can’t provide the bare essentials — why, then the allowances meant for soldiers are misappropriated? There is no any significance change between the past administration and the President Muhammadu Buhari’s government. The only difference is that during Goodluck Jonathan administration the Nigerian army paid complete allowances while the current one pays half of allowances. Never in history of foreign missions the United Nations paid Nigerian contingent uncompleted or half payment. The soldiers also appeal to the COAS to mind the welfare and allowances of the personnel especially those in the battlefront as failure to do so would cause chaos.
