FamilyRe: Thread For Those Who Are Not Considering Marriage Yet. by flipflop(f): 10:16pm On Sep 03, 2014
sihom: 1. The marriages in my life and world have impacted negatively on me to a point where I'm pessimistic about marriage no matter how hard I try to see the good sides to marriage I always end up thinking the negatives out-weigh the positives. To give you a few examples

a. My mum had to treat herself one time for gonorrhoea (not sure that's the correct spelling) and as far as I know she married as a virgin and has never cheated on my dad. My dad's girlfriend at the time was also treating herself for the same STD. I figure he picked it up from somewhere and infected both women. I knew about the STD because I overheard a conversation btw two of my aunts when I was 11 or 12.

b. An acquaintance parents divorced after 25 years of marriage, reason being that his mum caught his dad giving the house help head. Something he had persistently refused to give the mum always using the excuse that it was unhygienic, unhealthy and not medically good in all their 25 years of marriage.

c. One of my relative's husband had a messy affair that resulted into a pregnancy and a lot of damage to relationships. I also have twin half sisters courtesy of my father's away matches. A fact that came to light when I was a young adult, these are just a few short stories, there's more but I won't go into it.

2. I'm female and I get chased by married men a lot of the times its amazing the lengths they are willing to go to, just to get laid and it makes me wonder if my anatomy is any different from their wives. The frequency at which I get hit on by married men is starting to make me think my husband would do this too (if I get married). As a matter of fact I've been told by some of these men not to expect 100% fidelity from my spouse. Based on my personal experiences I'm tempted to believe all married men cheat, have cheated at some point in their marriages or may cheat in the future. A tough pill to swallow

3. The prevailing evils of child abuse/molestation by relatives, house helps etc makes my blood run cold. One of my nephews has been a victim and it was perpetuated by an uncle on the father's side.I cannot imagine bringing a child into this world only to have such a misfortune befall him or her. I know God protects people but let's face it there's still evil in this world and bad things happen to good people. I shudder to think of this

4. I've always been a one man gang not by choice but by the circumstances of life. So I usually tend to do things by myself without waiting for help from people or asking for help unless I'm really drowning. My point is- I'm too independent & self reliant that's not a good trait for a successful marriage and the truth is I don't know any other way to live.
a popular saying goes thus "you miss 100% of the chances you don't take" . I understand where you are coming from because I've been through it also. Nevertheless once you know your God(Dan 11:32), He is the source of your strength and you can do all things through Christ that strengthens you. Decide now not to allow scars from the past affect your future, choose to do it right. Study those failed marriages around you and note what went wrong with it. Resolve to be morally upright and holy (1thess 4:13) and wait for the right man who is God fearing ( this does not mean a man that goes to church every sunday or a worker in church; this is a man who has a relationship with God the father, Son and Holy spirit). You can have a great marriage if you trust God, choose a partner who loves God and decide to work at it continuously. Shalom sis! (P.S- I didn't ask- are you a Christian?)

Christianity EtcRe: I'm Jealous! So What?? by flipflop(f): 8:48pm On Aug 31, 2014
Bvsteph: As Christians, we can be Jealous right? We can be Jealous about our brother getting a car and we have nothing, we can be Jealous when our family gives much more attention to one sibling than the whole lot, we can be Jealous when our bestfriend is focusing on another instead of us. Jealousy is a product of love...right?

Exodus 20: 5 and so many other passages tell us about God being Jealous. If God is a Jealous God, then who are we 'NOT' to be Jealous?

Pls continue after the cut

Lets break it down into bits

1. Is Jealousy a product of Love....Yes or No?

2. God is our ultimate model. The one we must follow, the one true, and perfect and holy being. If God can be Jealous, then we can too?... Is being Jealous Right or Wrong?

A. If it's right, then why do most people leave a relationship because their partners are "too Jealous"? Why can't we all see it as a good thing not a bad thing?

B. If it's wrong, then why is God a Jealous God? God whose footsteps we must follow, can be Jealous, and He says it boldly and shows it, yet we that are His own should not? If it's right with God then why is it wrong with man? Aren't we created in God's likeness and image?
no! You are not to be jealous, pple who exhibit such trait and its likes will not inherit heaven (Gal 5: 19-21). If you start to think abt what other people have that you are yet to have, then start praising God who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all you can ask or think according to the power that works in you( Eph 3:20). Refuse to be jealous!

I think it is a question that shouldn't be asked at all, because knowing the answer (2 or 15) doesn't do either side any good. It only breeds suspicion and a deep seated distrust when u begin to analyze the how and when of the situation. undecided

@OP, you are right. But it was way easier some years back, outsourcing wasn't the order of the day then and simple word-of-mouth was enough to get you in the door of an organization, now it is survival of the fittest for a fresh graduate. Good write up!

Funniez: Make I book space first, I go comment when they start winning souls for God 2ru dia musics.
I rilly can't say about the others on the list but Tope Alabi's songs are "heart turning". if the conscience is still alive, one can't listen to kokoro igbala and it likes without desiring a better fellowship with God. And also Shola Allyson's songs, Sinachi's more of you etc.

Donfamous: Hello peeps I just wish to emulate some of our gospel artistes, I must confess they are really trying. Well to digress further here are my top four musicians count down.

5. sinach . A great vocalist, whose song has inspired many, "I am who God says I am, is like the song is purposely meant for me, what about 'awesome God, more of you' in conclusion this woman is bomb.

4. Tope alabi well very controversial these recent times but I must. tell you she has this talent that is indisputable, her album are always tight, she has produced more music than any gospel artiste in Nigeria, though she sings in yoruba dialect but she's good in what she's doing.
I got to a stage that I dint and couldn't even pick my best tracks from her music, but I can't forget the likes of 'ji irawo, opin irinajo, Jesu olurapada, certificati, funmilayo' etc this woman is too much

3. Lara George this woman is good, she gat the voice, talent and the style that keeps her going, I can't forget tracks like "komasi, dansaki, kolebaje, etc" but it seems are songs are not as interesting. And powerful as before, (my opinion) and don't forget this hit song "ijoba orun," its a great song.

2.Franklin Edwards great producer and song write, can't also forget hits like "you tOo they bless me o, ome ma e, alcatraz blues and the great great great imamma" , the song is very powerful as u also know.

1. Kenny k'ore guess this guy deserve a special seat, men this guy is "too good" he raps, sings and even chants, his first album was like a bomb, don't like disunity o but I think he's now better off than when he wes in infinity group, the way he stops and plays back is a gift on is own, guess I'm his biggest fan lol. But my best tracks in his first album is "eledumare, somore, hallelujah ft in kis image, bebelube, believe, psalm 23, ordinary man, etc." but in his latest album, I listened to the album more than two times in a day I mean the whole tracks, none of it is ever dulling, well lemme list some too ' kuluso( very very captivating listen to it first and thank me later if u av not) motiri, blind man guitar, are u ready, nibo, dream of the end, be like Jesus etc. Must say this guy is the bomb. Thanks let's see urs.
you've got a good list there, you must have good ears buds for excellent songs. I agree with this list. Good work!

There are two ways to look at this issue, either he is really attracted to the plus-size ladies or he is insecure and threatened by her decision to lose weight. My advice to the lady is thus: lose weight, it will do a lot for your body and ur self esteem! What if he leaves you next year for some flimsy reasons, so where does that leave you?. undecided(a year gone by in which you could have lost 10kg already)

Mariojane: I support u to an extent cos d op did nt mention d church she is converted to. Some churches can convince u to leave ur marriage nd without a second thought u will leave cos you believe anytin ur pastor say is d truth. Some women will leave their homes as early as 7am without cooking for their husbands all in d name of "pastor said we hv to clean d church" nd return 8pm. Op u need to hv a serious talk with ur wife not cos of her dresscode but for her not to b brainwash by a pastor nd fellow women in d church. Always remind her that u re d husband in case pastor ask her to do sometin without ur permission.d same tin is applicable to guys, some guys will even call their pastor to tell him they want to give their wives money. Just talk to her I believe she will listen cos of d luv u share
I concur. @ op, if your wife ain't reading her bible and following what the bible says instead of what a man says, you need to start praying hard. Because fake pastors abound.

FamilyRe: My Wife Over Spiritual Orientation Is Driving Me Nuts!!! by flipflop(f): 9:46am On Jul 17, 2014
Sir, I'm sure you did not marry her just for beauty alone. Your wife has acted on faith, you criticizing and demanding for her to change may destroy her faith. Give her your support as her husband and friend. If you feel she looks unkempt, it just because you are still looking for that woman she used to be. You suggesting cheating on her is absolutely absurd and terribly wicked. Your wife is your wife, stop loving her for the outside "beauty" and start focusing on the inward beauty that does not change or fade. *#shrugs shoulder
