BusinessHow To Create A Website For Your Business. by fnep2smooth(op):

Starting a new business in Nigeria comes with a lot of challenges, maintaining an existing one also has its own problem and stress. You may be thinking why you need a website for your business because you can't operate a computer or can't afford to pay a Web designer for one which to me it’s very cheap if only you meet the right developer.

Most businesses need this online presence to boost the sale and also create awareness about their product or services. First, every business ranging from tailoring, real estate, sales, or manufacturing or any one that has to do with buying and selling or rendering of services needs a well functional website to begin with.

Many Nigerian businesses have not fully embrace technology and have not also impact it on their business because of lack of proper awareness. We still dwell in the old form of buying and selling things which cannot give you the right sales you need to grow your business in the country and beyond.

Starting a simple site for you Tailoring / Fashion design work gives you the opportunity to showcase your fashion sense and creativity to new and existing customer, you can receive order from people across the world for a specific style and sending it with the help of NIPOST or other logistics in the country has even make it much easier. You may be asking yourself some questions like:

How will I manage the website?
How will i make people see my product?
How can my customer contact me easily?

The current technology advancement in the country as gone past these problems, you now have easy way to boost your online presence. There are lot of website giving free hosting for start up business, when you are able to afford you own hosting which is not that expensive since you are not running a big website that may generate big traffic in time to come, so you don’t have to worry about spending heavily on hosting since your customers may be in hundreds or less in a month which is a good sales if you are into fashion design or any business that doesn’t require heavy traffic to make sales.

You can get a .com for as low as 1$ only if it’s not taken or it’s not a premium domain (Premium domain are domain that are not too long and are very easy to remember example call.com, food.com, cars.com or anything related to short words or alphabet.)

To answer your question on "How will i manage the website?"
I know you may be wondering how you will manage and update your pictures or content on your website since you don’t know anything about computer or how the internet works.
Little do you know that some web developer also render maintenance services to their job to help you update new arrival or fashion trend in your stock. Since your site is not that heavy, negotiating on how much you will pay him anytime you want to upload or update new content to your website. This maintenance is base on the amount of job you want the developer to do for you, so firstly you have to know your budget and also know how frequently you will be updating them.

Secondly, if you are running a simple business that does not require you to keep updating your content every time, you can be sure of spending less since your next update will be in a month time or more. Starting this kind of simple site should not cost you less than 25,000 Naira for a years which combine your domain name and hosting.

In this plan, owner of the website are advice to choose a lasting domain name and also choose a good platform that will make it easier for you to move your website to a new hosting site whenever you wish. Platform like WordPress, Joomla, and Blogger can really serve the purpose. Discussing this with your developer will also give you an insight on how to plan for the future in case things change and he will also help you to back-up your website in case of breakdown of site.

To answer your question on "How will i make people see my product?"
Staying in your store / shop without letting people to know what you do and what you have in stock has a way of dropping your sales and your presence. There are free platform you can engage with people and also promote yourself without spending anything unless you wish to engage in Facebook Advert or other social media advert wish is not too expensive depending on your budget. Posting your store URL and product on different social media platform has a way of drawing people attention to your website.

These processes are very easy to do and you can do all this without having a laptop or a desktop but with the use of your smart phone. You can even edit and manage your website with your Smartphone. You only need the developer to finish with the front-end of your website, and then you operate from the back-end. You may only need him whenever you need a major stuff to be done on your website which could be resolve anywhere he maybe.

Many small scale businesses in Nigeria need to start embracing technology to help boost their business, this simple principle can be apply on your Laundry Store, Phone Business, Computer Store and Accessories, Restaurant, Fashion Designer, Boutique Owners, Poultry Business, Shoe Markers, Customized T-Shirt and Trouser, Real estate, Book Store, Hospital , Small or large Supermarket and many more.

Note: You can integrate automatic WhatsApp Messenger to this store for customer to be able to have a one-on-one chat with you regarding the product or services they want. since you don’t want any payment gateway (Receiving payment via MasterCard, Visa or verve) on your website, you can use this new WhatsApp features to receive payment when both parties has come to a deal, this could be done by bank transfer or by bank deposit depending on your choose, and it if you wish to have a payment gateway integrate into your website then you need to discuss it with your developer.

Please take your time to visit the link to see some best hosting site that suit your needs and also go through their terms and condition before signing up. Take advantage of this global trend and boost your business to people around you. Please drop your comment on this topic Thanks.

That's normal practice in the east during burials, any traditional festival. Its just a way of keeping the youth active during the ceremony. FG should just legalize it alot of revenue to make from it apart from medical aspect.

Example if I charge 100 naira for any transactions below 5000 that's 37.5 naira for them
But 0.75% of every transaction is high, more like 40% for them and 60% for you in your commission.

one of their staff was making calls and he was asking the guy on the phone to help him arraign his CV. Throughout the conversation I noticed that he was applying for another job and he was begging the guy to help him edit his CV. So I was thinking about it that why will this one be looking for another job or is it that the one he is currently working with doesn't pay fine or he doesn't like it. This was during the interview process. Lol

Op I really understand how frustrating this whole experience must have been.. It wasn't your fault really.
But for next time's sake(we pray such doesn't happen), saying 'I'm sorry' even while explaining ur plight would have gone a long way.
My dear, na u dey find work, not them, u need to humble, while being confident, so that they don't perceive you as arrogant and a misfit.

I pray you find better opportunities in the future. All the best
no arrogance here...... What I understand is that de don't want to interview me cos they looked tired so they just use this mistake to disqualify me

How humble do they want me to be, rolling on the floor begging I guess. I was cool explaining myself but their face look strong and full with anger like they saw a ghost.

All my comment to their questions was sir, sir, sir sir. I tried my best but they keep saying I came late when only two persons came by 10 am the rest came by 11: 15 till the last person 11:40. I saw it on the list they were holding.

Jobs/VacanciesMy Job Interview Experience Today. by fnep2smooth(op): 8:23pm On May 26, 2018
Please pardon my English am not happy

On 20th of this month I saw a job post in Abuja job section on this forum for an IT personal so I applied. So on 23 I got a text around 10:30pm that I have been schedule for a job interview the next day being Wednesday 24th. First I was surprised on why this job interview in this short notice and no time was state and the address was in AREA 2.

I had to prepare myself that night against tomorrow, the address was not clear but with the help of google map I find the location. When I got there I saw alot of people in the room, some were standing so I join them.

Later they told us to write our names and I did which makes me number 16 on the list. After everyone has written down their names we were 22 who came for the interview.

Each persons spend 15 minutes and when it got to my turn , I went in so I discovered it was a online marketing role. I answered every questions I was ask and with my experience in online marketing and web development, I was able to convince the interviewer. After everything he told me to go that they will contact me on Friday being 25th so I went home.

Fast forward to Friday, I didn't get any text in the day but around 9pm I got another text that I have been schedule for second interview which is the next day 26th, but not the same address. This time it was around WUSE ZONE 2 by 11 am.

I had to start preparing for it, so I left home by 10am but was misinform by my google map of the street. I follow the map to the address but I find myself at WUSE ZONE 3 with the same street on my phone. I ask someone around about the street, that was when he told me that am in zone 3 but the map is showing zone 2 prompting the street name on my phone but when I know the address was wrong was when I check the street sign and is showing another street name. I had to start tracing my way back to zone 2.

Later when I found out that am lost by that time its around 11:12am, I decided to call the number that sent me the text. A lady pick it and I explain to her that am lost so she direct me, it took me another 15 minute before I find the address. When I went in I saw some people at the first interview in the reception but this time they were few.

10 minutes later someone came and start calling people in. It was when 3 people has already been interview that I knew that they have writing their names. I approach the lady at the reception and I told her that I don't know they are writing down names, so she took down my name which makes me number 10 also the last person on the list.

The interview took 20 minutes each so being the last person it took 4hours before it got to my turn. As the last person was going out and I was going in with my CV in my hand, I was direct to a room and I met 2 grown up men about in there last 30's or more. One of them was asking if am for the interview and I said yes. He said my name was not in the list he was holding that the 9th person that left was the last person to be interviewed.

I explain to them everything that happen and that I was not aware about the list but he was saying I came late while the 9th person came around 11:40 which I show on the list. I tried to explain everything but they refused so the other man ask me if they sent any text to me for the interview and I said yes. He told me to show him and I did. He later said I came late the it was stated that its by 11 am.

After everything they were asking me to say the truth but I still maintain what I have been saying but they refuse. I just stand there like a fool looking at these men as if I committed a crime. They said I should go that they won't conduct the interview with me. I was disappointed, wasted my time, money still this people turn me down and I was the only person in the building.

I later met the lady at the reception and I asked her that my name was not on their list, she went inside to explain to them but they turn her down. Later a guy came and was saying that I should have apologize. I was confused. Apologize for what? I explain everything but they never listen.

Later the guy said i should drop my CV that they might call me for another interview but he is not sure. I was angry not because i was never interviewed but the time, stress roaming around the street of Abuja in search of there address but still can't secure an interview. I felt they would have continue the interview with me since am the only one left in the hall. That was how i went home feeling disappointed.

E no easy for Naija but i believe e go beta.

The company name is GreenLab Tech along asmankase street , wuse zone 2.
