Romance / Why Are Churches Not Doing The Needful To Educate Members About Relationship by Fongido(m): 2:06pm On Oct 08, 2017
I've been asking myself this question, What's wrong if churches organize a programme to educate members about relationship?
No one can escape from love. It comes naturally. Once you're 18+ you'll be automatically attracted to the opposite gender.
Educating the teenagers on how to handle this situation isn't bad. .
That's why we have unwanted pregnancies and failed marriages in churches today.
A church leader will see someone who is 20+ with the opposite gender and frown his or her face.
Let them know the dos and donts. That won't take away their holiness. Thanks
NYSC / I Need Your Advice Please. by Fongido(m): 5:54pm On Oct 06, 2017
Hello Nairalanders

Good morning all. Hope y'all slept well.

Please I need your advice and guidance.

I am a OND holder in marine engineering and I was about going back for HND but admission has been suspended due to restructuring exercise going on in the school (Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron).
That's not the topic of conversation.
I started very well let me say in phone things. When I started using phone I knew nothing but my curiosity to know more helped me become the best.
I got to the stage that even people who used to show me one or two things and those I paid money to learn some things had to come to me for help. My highschool teachers were fond of me. I was a solution to their phone problems. Students respect me a lot bcoz of that. People started coming to me to help them fix some things for them. I was a sought after person in it.
It wasn't easy but the passion, curiosity and my determination to be the best helped me overcome many hurdles. At times learning some things were frustrating but I didn't give up. I would forget about food and sleep just to get it done.

But when I finished secondary school and it was time to choose a career path, due to lack of mentorship I think I deviated from what I have passion for to some thing else which is marine engineering. Along the lines it dawned on me that I have made a mistake. While I was still doing my OND I had regrets. At times people who knew how good I was expressed their dissatisfaction of me not going for computer science. I too regretted the whole thing.

4 years spent already since I finished highschool.
I'm very confused now. I want to make a u-turn but it's hard. I want to go and study computer science but I have doubts that Nigerian universities will drill me the way I want. I don't think they have the facilities to teach me practically. I'm thinking of going back and have HND in marine engineering then run some short courses on some computer packages. Some thing too is telling me to just stick to the marine engineering even when I know the passion ain't there.

Please what do you think? How can you advise me? I'm at a crossroads. See me as your younger brother and give me a advise that will help avoid future regrets.

Area of concentration :
1) Should I study computer science?
2) Should I obtain my HND in marine engineering and then migrate to computer?
3) Should I stick to marine engineering and make it work but all means?

I'm a little bit confused about living a luxurious life if I go into Computer.

Your advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I plead with the mods to help move this to the front page.
I'll be greatly if my request is given due consideration. Thanks

Education / Powerful Prayer by Fongido(m): 8:34am On Oct 03, 2017
Have you ever needed supernatural strength to
face a situation head-on, but not known what to
pray? God is waiting and wants to offer us strength
in time of need. Do not be afraid to pray and ask
God for His strength to fall upon you! When you
are weak, weary or unready to stand, and unsure of
what to ask, pray along with these words!

Lord, I’m weary. My energy is sagging, and my
motivation is lagging. And I am so in need of you.
I need your strength and your fresh touch to get
back on track again. Your Word says the joy of the
Lord is my strength. If that's true, then I need your
joy to replace all the bone-tired parts of my mind,
body, and soul.
The pressures of life sometimes push me into a
corner, rendering me helpless to move forward. A
hundred voices call my name, and I feel paralyzed
at times to answer, not knowing where to turn.
Lord, help me not to quit, to keep running the race
faithfully, and to find strength in that safe, secret
place of yours, under the shadow of the Almighty.
I need your strength to say no when I'm tempted
to surrender to harmful things, or when selfishness
clings to my clothes and won't let go. I need your
strength to say yes, when cowardice and fear
nudge me to deny the convictions of my heart. I
need your strength to reach out in love to those
both close to me and all around me. When don't I
need your strength, God?
SEE ALSO: A Prayer for When You Feel All Alone
You are my rock, and I run to you today, believing
that you will lift up my heavy arms, that you will
fuel me for the tasks you've given me, and that
your joy will completely consume the weakness of
my life and make me strong again. I don't want to
stay grounded, crippled by limitations and failed
attempts. I'm tired of feeble efforts. Lord, I want to
mount up with wings like an eagle and not just fly.
I want to soar.
Renew my strength, Lord. Fill me with your
supernatural power to overcome each obstacle in
my path. With my eyes on you, Lord, with you
walking beside me, working through me, I can
make it. Thank you, Lord!
In Jesus's name, Amen

Education / Re: 5 Things That Happen When You Graduate With A Poor CGPA by Fongido(m): 3:10pm On May 19, 2017
fergusen:
I've seen many reasons adduced by several individuals why grades do not matter or are less important in determining future successes. I do think the influence of grades has been understated.

No doubt, grades can be a poor way to determine someone's success or better still, measure an individual's self-worth.

Your success in life or otherwise may not be determined by how excellent your grades are. It probably isn't going to make you successful or unsuccessful.

However, grades are an instant image of you at any point in time. Grades are the foremost tools schools use to measure it's students abilities. This means it will give a huge initial judgement about you, which transcends beyond the academic environment.
If you think grades don't matter, ask that friend who missed that fully paid scholarship by graduating with a third class.
Grades matter if you desire to get that competitive job where employers look at CGPA.
As a fresh graduate, grades will matter until you get something more compelling to sell yourself.
If you desire career progression in the academics, bad grades will ground you.

It is a fact that majority of people with low grades are usually defaulters when it comes to self-discipline, hard work, diligence, and planning skill, to mention but a few. All of these failings might act in limiting the success of these individuals (with poor grades) after graduation.

Good grades give you a head start, and an added advantage going forward. The world is moving at a fast pace, too busy in most cases to give you an opportunity to disprove your poor grades. Therefore they go by the numbers (grades) in assessing you. You probably won't get a chance to prove your competence.

And yes, Not everyone will be an entrepreneur or succeed as one. Not everyone will have giraffe legs (know somebody that knows somebody in that establishment). Not everyone will/can work in the Nigerian civil service (where anything goes).

Haven stated that, here are 5 things that happen when you graduate with a low grade:

1. You close important doors: some doors when closed can never be opened again. How sad! Whatever opportunities, big or small, there are outside that door eludes you forever.
If you settled for less and got low grades due to laziness and nonchalant attitude towards book work, you effectively closed all doors requiring higher grades!
A graduate with a pass or a third class automatically rules him/herself out of certain job opportunities! I need not mention these jobs, you know them.

2. Fewer choices: this is similar to the above. You end up with less choice if you graduate with a poor CGPA. why? Windows are smaller than doors!
Less career advancement options, less job option, and less pay. You'll have to settle for less.

3. Vices will appeal to you: I mean no disrespect to those with poor grades. However, social vices such as gambling, drunkenness, and others I choose not to mention will appeal to you. Anything just to dampen the disappointment of wasted years. However, it all ends in more disappointment for those not willing to get it right the right way.

4. Battered esteem: poor grades will batter your esteem. You will always avoid public discussions that will warrant a mention or display of your grade status either by you or others. Can you comfortably put your pass degree qualification on a CV? Never!
Deflated ego, inferiority, and other similar words will describe your situation.
Only a few (mentally strong) will refuse to be downcast and laid-back by letting grades get in their way to achieving success. The greater majority wallows in regret for years.

5. Delays in career progression: if you graduate with a third class, you'll need a PGD to move forward. If it's a pass, you're probably stuck/grounded. In the academics, grades are prioritised, and it'll remain so for a long time.

It is, therefore important that you begin to answer questions such as where you desire to be in the next five years, what steps to take to get there and what doors you need to go through. The earlier these questions are answered, the more doors you'll have access to, and go through.

To make it big, you either have to be the best at what you are doing (non academic activity) or follow the conventional easier path - good grades.

Choose the doors to open and don't let life choose for you because it might be a far cry from that which you desired.

Grades do matter a lot.

Some days, life is just hard. The days look dark.
Uncertain times and stress mount high. An
unexpected diagnosis or devastating loss can feel
too difficult to face.
Though we may realize our faith is most
strengthened, not in the easy times of life, but in
the most trying, it’s often hard to walk that out
once we're swirling in the midst of it all. We long
for carefree days, yet sometimes, God takes our
hand and leads us straight into the darkest of
times. Not to harm us, ever. But to bring greater
strength, character, trust, beauty, and perseverance
to the deepest part of our souls.
His desire for us in this life is ultimately to make
us more like Him. To have relationship with us. He
will not leave us sitting in dark days, but will walk
with us through, until we come out on the other
side. Changed. Stronger. Renewed. With great
purpose.
For those who need fresh hope today...you are not
alone.
You are never forgotten.
He is with you.
Every step of the way.

My first was Zartech. it was better than this Amo. I sold it at 5 weeks 4 days to those roasting chicken. When I went to buy again only Chi and Amo was available so I opted for Amo bcoz people recommended it but it's quite unfortunate.

Religion / A Question For Both Christians And Muslims. by Fongido(m): 12:45pm On Apr 23, 2017
QUESTION OF THE DAY

Would you be Christian if you were not born into it?

What if you were not born Muslim?

Is God Unfair to Those Raised in Other Faiths?

At times you'll hear NO.. if I wasn't born Christian I would've become one. I would've looked into Christianity, and found that it made more sense, then I would've converted. Well, I highly doubt this statement is true. The point is: we believe in whatever religion we're born into. You have no choice in the matter. I don't think that one should disregard other religions just because it's somebody else's.
I believe that because you were raised Muslim, you will likely identify with Islam and the Muslim community your entire life.
This is what you have been taught, how you have been indoctrinated since birth, and I would assume most all of your social connections, both family and friends, would also have the same Muslim beliefs and lifestyle.
The same would be true in most cases if you were raised in a strict (or even not so strict) Christian Family.
Generally, one will identify and feel most comfortable with the values and traditions with which they were raised during their formative years.

For people to say that if you were not born Christian you would automatically convert is a completely blank and ignorant statement. My question is for those people, how would you convert so quickly if you were either never exposed, or truly believed that Islam is wrong and Christianity was right.

Your Religion Is a Reflection of Your Culture. You’d be a Muslim if you were born in Pakistan (or Saudi Arabia or Iran or in any other overwhelmingly Muslim country).
As a Christian I always get upset when fellow Christians condemn Muslims. Thinking they're going to hell.
As an innocent child, you had no choice, you found yourself in a Muslim family.
Why did God send you there knowing it won't be easy for you to deviate from it and those practicing it are heading to eternal damnation.

You can clear my doubts. It's welcome

. Poultry Farming – Everyone knows how ‘Cashy’ this one is, it doesn’t need much introduction and yet it’s still not fully tapped. What we currently have are few badly managed, scantily equipped poultry farms here and there.

Young man why dont you say only the things you know? How is poultry a lucrative biz when feeds are sold at N4100 against N2650 Nd at d end you cant sale ur birds above N1000?

Don't mind that guy. he doesn't know what he's talking about. let him come into the business first. now Poultry farming is like you are doing it for free. if you are not careful you won't even get up to the money you invested in it.

Let me sound this warning very well!!!

If you dont have upto 300,000 naira at hand.. Pls don't start fish farming.. If you really wanna make good money... Start a pond and make sure you have upto that amount above..

You go buy feed tire to feed fish.. And at the end.. Those wicked market women go dey price your fish 500 naira.... Fish when big like crocodile... Those women will price you into frustration...

Unless you supply hotels... And how many hotels dey use catfish?

Nor try urself ooo

P:s..... Don't let any one deceive you oo... It's no backing out when you in.... And when it's time to buy feed for the fish.. Ain't no negotiating or suspending it oo.... Because the more you starve your fishes... The more they loose weight and become stunted in growth..... I am into it.. I know what am telling you.
Same with Poultry farming. I'm into small scale Poultry farming and it's not funny. there are times I regret it. the cost of feed is too high yet the cost of chicken is the same. some people will frustrate you with the way they'll price it. very unfortunate. there's no union in farming that when the cost of feed is high they declare a particular price for sale.
