Politics / Niger Delta Ex-militants Endorse Peter Obi For President by Foolishbuhari: 9:56pm On Feb 02, 2023
A coalition of former militants and agitators of Niger Delta resource control have endorsed and declared support to the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi in the forthcoming general elections.

The group in a statement jointly signed by their leaders: Dede Udofia, Ibanga Ekang, Ekpo Ekpo and Ukpe Sampson, made available to journalists in Abuja, described Obi as the symbol of a new Nigeria.

The statement further described Peter Obi as the most qualified amongst the presidential candidates judging from his good record, character, competence and age.

The agitators also said that Obi would tackle the issues of Boko Haram and banditry in the north, Indigenous Peoples of Biafra ( IPOB), Eastern Security Network (ESN) in the East, and headers/farmers clashes in the north central as well as ensuring that Nigerian citizens enjoyed safe and serene environment at all times.

They added that it was also fair and just to vote someone from the south eastern part of the country, stressing that the Northern, western and southern regions of the country have had their share of the presidency, leaving the south east behind.

The statement read in full: “At the general assembly meeting of the Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators which held on 23rd January 2023 at Port Harcourt to reassess the current political waves, the challenges facing the nation, the antecedents of all the candidates as well as their ideological techniques to tackle the hydra-headed challenges facing the Nigerian state, the all night meeting takes into consideration the current failed security system in all geopolitical zones of the Nigerian state, the near-collapse economy, the infrastructural decay, the complete decay of the healthcare system as well as the massive fraud experienced in public offices across the country.

“The Coalition unanimously resolved as follows: That since Nigeria returned to democracy in 1999, the South West has produced a President for eight (cool years in the person of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and currently the zone has produced Vice President in the person of Prof. Yemi Osinbajo for eight (cool years.

“Similarly the North has produced two Presidents, Alhaji Musa YarAdua, two (2) years and Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, eight (cool years respectively. The South South geopolitical zone has also produced a President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, for six (6) years.

“It will therefore be a grave injustice, marginalization, oppression and wickedness to deny the South East the opportunity to produce the next President of Nigeria. It is therefore not logical for zones that have produced Nigerian Presidents to still seek such mandate again even when such candidates lack strength and ability to discharge such functions.

That all the candidates presented by political parties for the forthcoming presidential elections are eminently qualified, but the only person with good records, character, capacity, young, energetic with deep knowledge of the challenges facing the citizens is Mr. Peter Obi.

He is a symbol of a new Nigeria and we believe that giving him the presidential will be of great benefit to Nigerians as Nigeria will be returned to the path of infrastructural development, growth and prosperity.

“The present security challenges in the country will be holistically addressed by Mr. Peter Obi, particularly Boko Haram and Bandits in the North; IPOB, ESN and unknown gunmen in the South East as well as Herdsmen in the Middle Belt, South West, South East and South South zones to ensure that Nigerian citizens enjoy safe and serene environment at all times.

“It is therefore not in the interest of our fatherland and future generation to vote a Nigeria’s President based on ethnic or religious sentiments as doing so would be disastrous for the country considering the present economic woes facing the citizens.

“We call on all the Niger Delta citizens especially the ex-agitators, present serving agitators and all the Niger Delta citizens to vote massively for Peter Obi as we trust that he shall ensure the full implementation of Niger Delta master-plan, job creation through industrialization, proper funding of the NDDC and Presidential Amnesty Office, full implementation of the third phase Presidential Amnesty Programme as well as implementation of the reintegration phase of the Presidential Amnesty Programme to the beneficiaries which the present administration is not sincere in its implementation proper.

“We want to state that the Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators is already working and willing to mobilize all the Niger Delta agitators, ex-agitators, youths and women in all the coastal, riverine and hinterland communities in across the Niger Delta states to vote massively for Peter Obi and ensure his victory at the polls as the man that ensure that a better Niger Delta and Nigeria is delivered to the Nigeria citizens.

“A vote for Peter Obi is a vote for competence, better Nigeria, stability, peace, infrastructural development, educational/technological advancement, safety/security, better and stabilized economy.”

Bro u r too I'll hearted towards the south..
Atiku or any northern politician got no business with this 2023 election.
No southerner contested 2019 election so where I ur arrogance founded.
The south will rule so will u then deny Nigeria as ur Country.
Words like these are not patriotic rather Polarises a country into deep neck hatred capable of genocide.
Better get sense.

Leave politics alone if u can't control ur hate

I remember telling some of you batists on this forum that Bola is the weakest candidate in this race but y'all didn't believe me. I told Garfield and some other guy about something called the tyranny of the majority

Anyways una son dey see am now abi? A southern presidential candidate without a southern base outside the SW; which isn't even sure for him. The SW will vote for their son but the north will leave theirs? Now y'all are crying about what's fair or not?

February is upon us though. I just need Bola not to give up but intensify efforts in the north. Buy as much votes as he can. He and Atiku needs to cancel themselves in the NW and NE. Peter needs that to win on the first ballot.

Can you provide reputable source that back this nonsense?

Maybe a foremost newspaper with article about Sultan renting house as a military officer in Enugu from a student Peter Obi.

Politics / Peter Obi: A Lesson In Perseverance (early Life, Businesses) 2018 by Foolishbuhari: 8:32pm On Feb 02, 2023
By Valentine Obienyem

Today, the 19th of July, 2018, Mr. Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State turns fifty-seven. Besides Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, whom I did serials on his birthdays, he is the only other person I have rashly laid upon myself the task of writing on in commemoration of his birthdays. He is one of the few in Nigeria whose lives a keen observer can look at and proclaim how good they are.

From Ojukwu to Obi is justified because the two great Igbo sons are coins of the same mould and mint, however different in dates. This is especially evident in their understanding of service to the people as revolving around two foci: selflessness and integrity. Both are geniuses in their own rights and by Nigerian standards. It is notorious that geniuses accord with one another as harmoniously as dynamite with fire, even when some little tigers being fed with milk tried to put a wedge between them. Ojukwu in his wisdom recognized those little tigers and often advised Obi to watch them to know when they grow teeth.

The prisms of hard work, governance, integrity, astuteness…

If people like Obi are subpoenaed before the judgement-seat of reason for follies of life we shall sue for the return of our money. If, on the contrary, we consult them for the lessons of life, they shall offer us more than we shall bargain for. In the past, I tried to look at Obi from the prisms of hard work, governance, integrity, astuteness, single-mindedness and stubborn adherence to principles. Today, I include his odd quirks. We shall see some of those things he did while growing up. O yes, we can say of him having in mind the famous Terence paragraph in Self Tormentor: “Homo Sum, humani nihil a me aliennumputo” (I am human, and nothing human is alien to me). Obi is human and nothing human is alien to him.

He was born in the commercial city of Onitsha, where he obtained his primary and secondary education; except for an interlude at Father Joseph Secondary School, Aguleri, where his uncle served as Principal. His precocity manifested in the area of business. Looking at the trajectory of his life, one can submit that he was born naturally with the business vigour of the Obis running in his veins. He was first and foremost a businessman, before other features –diplomacy, parsimony, conciliation and governance – took turns dominating his busy life.

He often tells us how his teacher at Kellogg influenced his entry into politics. Anyone who has not heard the tale will most probably think that from his Uncle, Hon. Nwabo-Alor, he derived by a kind of avuncular heredity an inclination towards radical politics. Radical not in terms of hot volcano erupting now and then, but in being driven by an independent spirit that has seen him in trouble a lot of times by insisting that the right thing must be done in spite all odds.

Obi is a thoroughbred Igbo son. Early in his life, he showed signs of what the future has in stock for his life. Barely out of diapers as a pupil of Santa Maria Primary School, Onitsha, he engaged in varied trading. First, was wholesale purchase of kerosene and retailing same in bottles. His loving mother saw the unusual business inclination and early experience with money as likely to have undue negative influence on his growth and development. Like all fond parents, his mother – known during her time as a matron of dignity and wisdom who sedulously trained her children after the husband bowed early to the supreme arbitrament of death – was not comfortable with his early exposure to the science of making money. She tried to stop him, but gifted in native intelligence and all known principles of persuasion, Peter Obi convinced his mother to allow him. But one of the ironies of his life is that despite early exposure, money does not have any charm for him.

From marketing of kerosene in primary school, Peter Obi moved on to the sale of eggs from Olikeze and Onwuka Farms in Agbor and Awka respectively, while he was a student of Christ the King College (CKC), Onitsha. Thenceforth he ventured into fashion. Apart from academics, his past-time, as with successful entrepreneurs, was watching and gauging people’s reactions to trending fashion as copied from the attires of famous singers and sportsmen. This was how as a secondary school boy, he designed foreign shoes like the one his excitable friend, Mr. Benji Uba called “three layers”, and “flanner” and went to Enugu for the mass production. Students and young traders fell over one another buying the products. He did the same for “bongo” trousers that was in vague at that time. When you hear that he had taxis running for him as a secondary school boy, do not be surprised. His is a living story as opposed to fairy tales of those who claimed they started making money from their mothers’ wombs. As a student in CKC, he was already travelling to London with older friends and importing goods in containers.

As an undergraduate at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Peter Obi was a big-time importer of five and more containers of various wares in one order. Among his several customers, the well-known Awusaku of Onitsha at the time marketed tiles from him. He also ventured into property. It was during that period that he built the houses rented by the then Savannah Bank in Omor and Nsukka. Indeed, the present Sultan of Sokoto was his tenant as a young military officer serving in Nsukka area.

Best club and party dancer

As a young man, Peter Obi was fully human and enjoyed his life to the fullest. Seeing him today, you would not even know that he was the best club and party dancer among his many friends and contemporaries. He also indulged in tangents to the curve of love. From what we hear from those close to him, we may presume that where there is still so much smoke there was once a flame. Take a sampler: Once he was driving his friends, including a girlfriend, in his newly-acquired Peugeot 505 car. They got to a place and met some people who passed from admiring the vehicle to pricing it. Because Peter Obi had a business he wanted to explore, but did not have enough money to do so, he offered to sell the vehicle to the people and there and then. His scandalized friends, including the young lady, had to continue their trip in public transport. Two days later, Peter Obi was off to London and as soon as he concluded the new venture, he bought a brand new BMW!

There are many interesting stories about him and each is parked with lessons of life. At the wedding of one of his cousins in Enugu, many people saw him waiting for public transport to the reception. Most of them stopped to give him a lift, which he declined. In fact, a girlfriend to one of his friends remarked that they should leave the man (Obi) who appeared to be enjoying his poverty. When they later talked about the event and it was revealed that the three most-graded vehicles used for the wedding were owned by Peter Obi, the young woman sought Obi’s hotel room ostensibly to apologize to him but actually to woo his friendship.

Peter Obi lived a normal life that characterizes all stages of human development. One of the interesting things about him is that he did not remain becalmed in any of the stages. That is not say his life is devoid of follies; after all, as Cicero said: “There is nothing so absurd, but that it may be found in the book of philosophies”. He once angrily retrieved what he bought for his girlfriend on discovering her liaisons with other men.

Obi’s transition to one of Nigeria’s most successful politicians in terms of performance was not by accident. He is a perfectionist who puts in 100% efforts in whatever he chooses to do, even if it does not yield the maximum result. His friend, Benji Uba tells a story of sometime in the 1980s, when he and Obi stayed in the house of Ike Nwabunike: “Each time we travelled to London, Ike would always give us money to run errands for him and ask us to keep the change. In 1987, Peter bought his own house. When Ike heard it, he was so amazed that he dropped the plate of food from his hands. Ike was rightly perplexed that the young man he accommodated was able to buy a house in London without a mortgage! Ike was very happy and thereafter used Peter as an example for others. In the same year, Peter started investing in London and Nigerian stock markets unaffected by the bedlam of politics”.

NB: This is just an extract of the man's life. Mr LegendHero, hope you can see the link on there about the Sultan of Sokoto and how he stayed at a house Peter Obi built back then at Nsukka. FYI this article was written in 2018

Politics / Re: What Are The 24 States Atiku And Peter Obi Can Get 25% From by Foolishbuhari: 8:08pm On Feb 02, 2023

2023 is no joke and the heats keeps being tence. If there's one thing Asiwaju is certain of and most candidate aren't is the fact that he's definitely going to get the required 25% in 24 states. Can obi and Atiku boast of that?

I'm certain obi is going to get the 25% in all of south south and South East. In the north central benue, nasarawa, plateau and FCT.
Hes most likely going to get in lagos. And at best 3 more states in the north. If you calculate all that's 20 if you exaggerate things.

Atiku would definitely get the required in 18 or 19 northern states. He's dead completely in the entire south.

But Asiwaju is certain of 25% in 19 northern states. And 6 southwest stars.
25 states guarantee.
As it stands, Obidients should just stop contesting.
Bola won't even get 25% in 20 states but let's watch and see.

My brother he did more than well believe me. For the first time a governor priotized local firms in anambra to build infrastructure. No kick backs requested. Imagine such a man, a servant leader as Nigerian president.

You may be a batist but ask yourself if bat is what Nigeria really needs at this point. Ask yourself if he's fit enough for this job. This is 200 million people bro! Would you entrust it to a Bola who's not too fit and is paired with a VP with terrorist tendencies? These are the questions bro.

But why can't Obi build those things himself? Do u think that is Economically wise of him?? What happens to finance value of that money?? U only save money worth that amount wen u have nothing or no idea of any other things again..

The 2011 Nairaland thread asking what exactly did Obi do in Anambra is still there with gnashing. Just tell us u guys are doing repackaging.
How many years does a man have to do "everything"? Can a man do everything? You do your best at the moment and leave the rest for the next man which is why they say government is continuum.

That said, I don't think we appreciate Peter Obi enough on what he did at Anambra state. Note, I'm a Deltan, not even an Anambra person nor Igbo but I know how that state was back then, being that I schooled at Enugu. Anambra state was a dump! You see how we laugh at Abia state today, Anambra could have been another Abia state or worse. I'll take it in bits so maybe you can get the picture;

1. Insecurity: it was terrible at Anambra. What Peter did here isn't talked about enough. At Anambra, kidnappers, bank robbers and other societal misfits ran amock before he came in. There was a popular hideout for them, Apkapa forest. Peter cleaned the place, today the place is a residential area.

2. Salary and gratuity backlog: Peter came into government and met a backlog of salaries, gratuities, pensions amounting to over ₦35 billion. Peter cleared them all before he left office.

3. Peter built the industrial zone called Harbour layout at onitsha. This man linked all the rural communities in anambra state to the capital. Man even built a whole ANSU campus and a teaching hospital from scratch.

These and more, the man did. Now about the airport, do you know the airport land was bought by Peter Obi? Many do not know because the man won't say. He believes he did his job and he left! Peter turned anambra from the brinks into something people can even talk about today. You know how you lay a foundation and it's not beautiful at first until you begin to build, that is what Peter did.

I can't really tell you enough because typing texts isn't my Forte but I appreciated Peter Obi more in 2013 when I approached bank of Industry for a loan. They told me they worked by counterpart funding and my state didn't keep money with them. Peter on the other hand left billions with them which anambra people used to build businesses and lift themselves out of poverty.

He did these and more yet proceeded to save for his predecessor even though he met nothing but debts and squalor. What more could you ask from him? About the old thread, it's usual for people to curse and be impatient when things are shaping up. To be fair also he did more in his second tenure because he had a real tumultuous first tenure. Impeached twice, fought and came back twice, illegal election, things like that.

When he left, Anambra state was one of the most secure states in Nigeria, least poverty rate, they smashed the MDGs, grew their GDP to 40%, worked on improved power supply. Yet he still managed to save. Hear from Obiano himself before politics ruined things. Respect that man Peter! Matter of facts I've been Obidient since 2012 after I came into onitsha one day and say everywhere had changed. Again respect Peter!!
