( angel 101 ) you are not the only nigerian that feels this pain, sometimes i want to break into pieces because of bad reptutation we as a country as developed in the eyes on the world because of some of our corrupt officials and fraudsters, that doesn't mean we should bash someone else for our own problems. |
(Angel101) offcourse everyone knows by now that nigerians have corruption and fraudsters but those people only contribute to 1% of nigerians so definately that 1% is bound to hurt the remaining 99%, the mere fact that she did a show on SCAMS doesn't mean silly tabloids should take it personal. she didn't talk about nigeria alone other countries too ( russia, austrialia etc) were involved as well, so PEOPLE GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT BEFORE You LAY ANY BLAME Until now there as been no PROOF that she accused all nigerians until there is she is INNOCENT by all standards |
This is a work of uncreditable, dishonest and corrupt tabloids i have carefully digested all what everyone on this forum as posted on the OPRAH WINFREY thing and i have every reason to believe that its a campaign against oprah winfrey credibilty and status for one i would never in my mind doubt that Oprah would say such a thing thats is why i decided to get to the root of the matter i visited her website and discovered that she only did a show on scams and you know definately nigerians would be involved and there is PROOF that she didnt make that statemnet that was earlier instigated my PUNCH AND TELL tabloids here is a link to the page on her website you would find these statement at the last part of the page STATEMENT-"I know we're going to get a letter from somebody saying that Nigeria has a lot of wonderful people. You don't have to send the letter," Oprah says. "We already know that. We're just talking about this particular scam that's going on. We're not talking about the entire country and everybody in the country." HERE IS- http://www2.oprah.com/money/credit/200704/money_20070413_284_117.jhtml |

Identification of opportunities online by Omoshola A .Johnson. What is the online buzz? It’s the excitement and creativity surrounding the creation of the internet. The internet was not created by a single person but can be said to be collaboration by a whole community of scientist, physicist and the brightest minds in America. From then on developed countries all around the world embraced the introduction of the new technology like peanut butter sandwich or a good old American ham burger. The online technology (internet) which allows computer networks to interconnect and communicate, serves as a form of communication between other internet users around the world. As the saying goes every new technology is an avenue for making money, which in fact is true. Since the inception of the internet thousands of businessmen and women in the developed world has utilized it to there own potentials. Individuals, companies and entrepreneurs as earned millions of dollars and still counting till today. An example is Peter Neupert the president of drugstore.com who reportedly turned down famed venture capitalist John Doerr’s to start-up is online company which is called drugstore a website for prescription drugs, with 700,000 customers till date an still counting . the market value of the company is $1 billion his personal stake is $40 million, all these was realized with utilization of internet technology. There are more examples of various entrepreneurs such as Charles Conn CEO of ticketmaster.com. All these individuals couldn’t boast of such successes before the inception of the internet but now they are rich beyond there wildest dreams, what does this mean? It means that they have taking advantage of the internet and turned it around to make a fortune. We can clearly see that the power of communication through computers was the key to success in there various companies. The key lesson to all these stories is not that they were from developed countries it is the utilization of opportunities like the internet available to them. Coming back to the home front Africa, we are slowly improving on the phrase “online buzz” we have seen significant growth towards the development of internet in some parts of Africa such as South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana. A statistic by economic intelligence unit shows that Asians and Africans are catching up with big internet users such as Denmark. My question is these:- • Are we utilizing the potentials of the internet technology enough? • Can’t we compete on the same grounds as our foreign counterparts as done? • How many heads have they got two? A recent statistics shown that 80% of Nigerians have been exposed to the internet at one time or the other once while a good 90% of the lot are regular online users. In this light I expect that Nigerians would have utilized the technology to full potential because if say 50% of Nigerians are connected there is definitely enough opportunities to exploit. Instead of spoiling the reputation of our great nations doing all kinds of fraud online, we can channel our intelligence towards a more rewarding and profitable channel of business. “The application of thinking is what makes the difference between success and failure” instead of channeling our knowledge towards fraudulent vices there is a lot of money that could be made online which will especially help our youths get of the streets An example of mine is a website called naijabarter.com it’s a site which basically links buyers, sellers, advertisers and exchange of goods and commodities whether brand new or second handed across Nigeria. This kind of development is good for our economy because it provides a peculiar service for individuals companies all round Nigeria, Africa and rest of the world seeking specific kind of commodities. With the whole nation embracing such ingenuity and knowledge the online business would boom exceedingly in our country giving more rooms for other entrepreneurs to show case different qualities and talents that as been locked up. We can change the status of Nigeria and indeed Africa throughout the globe; we can take the first steps of moving from a developing continent to a developed first class continent LETS USE OUR GOD GIVING TALENTS.
