BS
My pregnancy started as an easy ride to the Glory of God, got my BFP 4 or 5 weeks after wedding. Morning sickness came at six weeks and lasted till 14 weeks thereabout. I had different Edd's varying from 18th to 21st to 25th to 27th but I decided to go with 21st. I was able to work through the pregnancy, took bike through bumpy roads to and fro every day yet God remained faithful. Fast forward to 32 weeks, I did a scan that showed cord around neck, reported at my clinic and was told all was well. At my 34 weeks appointment a doctor saw me and told me I needed to be worried cos I was having painful contractions too. I did a doppler and it showed all was well. However, from 35 weeks I just started having negative feelings and at times I won't feel the baby move for hours. I would tell my husband and he would say I was worrying abou nothing. Due to the corona virus pandemic, the last clinic I attended was at 34 weeks I think. My hospital closed antenatal and were only attending to emergency and labor cases. At 36 weeks I started taking ewedu and chewing 4 dates daily in my mind to prepare my cervix. At 37 weeks plus 1 day, I started having very painful menstrual cramps and I was excited that labour was beginning to start. Two days later I went for scan as I felt there was reduced movement and I still had painful contractions. Scan showed all was well with baby and cervix still closed and my husband was like I told you. That night and the night after I had serious Braxton Hicks and didn't feel baby move all through so I decided to call my doctor that Thursday morning. She told me to report to the hospital immediately, keep track of the movements and keep an open mind regarding CS. We went to the hospital, I was sent for a doppler which came back normal but I was still having contractions, however that particular doppler showed that I had a slightly elevated amount of amniotic fluid. Cervix was checked and was closed so I was admitted to be monitored for contractions. Fetal vitals was checked all through till the following morning and I was to be discharged. The doctor that was to discharge me came around to check fetal vitals and discovered fetal tachycardia. He immediately told me to prepare for emergency CS. He called my husband who had become very scared and told him the things to do and forms to sign. I was moved to labor ward, fetal vitals came back normal again so they strapped me to a CTG machine. It kept showing normal vitals till about 3 hours later when the heart rate started going up and coming down dangerously. I was moved to the theater 12 hours after the first diagnosis was made. While in the theater the devil struck, first spinal anesthesia failed, I was told if the second failed I would be knocked out. Second one was successful an the operating table gave way after with my head almost falling and all the doctors had to quickly grab me. Procedure was successful to the Glory of God. Baby came out screaming his lungs out at 9:11pm weighing 3.2kg. Spinal Headache lasted for days and in all I'm grateful to God for this bundle of joy.
Congratulations,God bless your baby

I don't think it matters once the couple is in agreement. I and my husband are from the same tribe and our son is named after my FIL. That's his first name which most people know but he has other names and he answers to them. My husband marvels at how at 2plus he answers to about five different names, lol.

Thanks ma'am. Honestly I've read a few about that. That's why I'm quite scared. But just thought to monitor it for a while and she isn't so keen with going to the hospital right now with all the covid-19 stuff happening. But the consolation I have now is that the headaches happen when she wakes in the morning till like midday and that's all (don't know if that's any consolation tho'). She's feeling quite alright and up and about as I write this now. From what I read, preempclapsia headache isn't limited to just mornings. What d'you think ma?
Pregnancy is different strokes for different folks. I'd advise you coax madam into seeing a doctor to avoid stories that touch, please.

Pls i was given malaria drug on the first of march,i forgot to take it but due to corona scare i took it yesterday since then i have been having serious headache and weakness but no temperature, which means i have serious malaria.

Should i go to the hospital to request for more drugs or the one they gave me is enough(they gave me swipha 3tablet to be taken at once)? I am so down and very scared of hospitals.
I experienced this not long ago. the drug you took yesterday is preventive but since you are already feeling that way you need to go back to get proper treatment for malaria.

Congratulations to all March mamas dropping it hot hot, may your LOs be a source of joy and happiness to you all. To the remaining of us, may we all give birth smooth and safely at our appointed times.

Please mamas, help me out. I just changed to a new hospital and before then I was given Fansider on the 17th of February, so in my new hospital, I went for my ANC (ist time in the hospital) on the 11th of March and was prescribed another one. I told the doctor that I've taken fansider in my former hospital and he removed the drug. Now my question is how many times is this drug given in the course of pregnancy and how many months interval should it be administered?

Second question, I have taken two doses of TT in my former hospital and the doctor in d new hospital prescribed another one. I told him I have taken twice and he still didn't remove it, saying that I will need to bring evidence that I have taken before as I have said...(Me in my mind, Oga doctor! Will I be lying abi is it not for my own good undecided undecided, okay o). So I collected the TT and instead of me to take it to the treatment room where it will be administered, I waka go meet matron and explain to her. She told me after the second dose that I took, the next dose should be administered after 6months... when I go don give birth sef. So I was confused, I just kept the injection in my bag and left. Abeg what do you all have to say to this? I'm a FTM and team June. Help me out please!

NB: Biko sorry for the long post.
Concerning the PPT (fansidar) doctors are of different opinions but on the issue of TT, the matron is right.

Hello mama's
What's is our take on induction.
I am 40weeks without any signs of labour. The doctor has advised we do once its 41 weeks next week. However I am thinking of trying induction first but my husband is discouraging me. He says induction is not properly monitored and can go wrong and cause issue.
Please I need people who have experienced induction and general take on this mater.
I was induced at 40wks+ in my first pregnancy and it went well. Just trust your caregivers and your instincts,do away with fear also.

bibiliscious:
First Timer, just thought to share my experience as I am very distraught ATM . I lost my first baby last Saturday 1st Feb at 21 weeks.

It started out like any other day the Thursday before . I went to the office , bought a few food stuff on my way home n then went home cooked , served my husband and then we got intimate .

Few hours later I had re occurring cramps (I have growing fibroids which isn't in the uretus) I assumed that was what caused the cramps but if was persistent from midnight to 6am my husband insisted we went to the hospital which we did and I found out I was contracting .

The Gynae gave me some injections n placed me on drip and the contractions continued and eventually stopped. On Friday morning I noticed I was bleeding non stop I asked for the gynaecologist and was told he doesn't work on weekends that he has travelled to visit his family (I was surprised Cz I was his patient and it was an emergency so expected him to atleast stay Friday to monitor me ) .

In the afternoon on Friday , I noticed my gestational sac hanging out of my vagina (that is the sac that holds the amniotic fluid and baby ) I was screaming in tears n shock . I was supposed to have my baby in the us so I called my Us doctor who insisted they carry out an emergency cerclage (stitching of the cervix) but the gynae was unavailable .

I asked to be transferred to another hospital n they said their ambulance was at their ikeja office , wow I was dumb founded Cz I couldn't stand n needed to be in laying position due to the sac sticking out. After some time the sac went back in . I kept on praying n crying as this was our first child.

I asked if they had incubator just incase the baby comes out they said no.

After much back n forth he sent a replacement gynae from their ikeja branch (I was in ikoyi branch ) who arrived at 8pm who advised that nothing could be done but observe and pray and he left back to ikeja branch instead of staying with me as I was an emergency patient.

I bled all night , my baby was a fighter his heart beat was still on functioning well all through the distress (every time I did scan in the past , drs always commented of how active my son was)

On Saturday morning I woke up to pee and felt like a balloon burst from inside me my water broke. Immediately called the nurses who checked the heart beat n the baby's heart rate was still perfect.

I went to the delivery room , my son head popped out he was still moving as he came out inside the sac after 5 mins he passed. Then the torture began . They general practitioner n nurses spent 2-3 hrs trying to remove the placenta , used all sort to expand my uterus - forcep, hands , clamps I was in excruciating pain . All this while the gynae n replacement gynae were not available .

They finally got the placenta out n I had to be treated with lots of antibiotics as I was feverish n having short breaths so they gave me that incase of any infection .

Been crying all through , the gynae finally graced us with his presence on Monday night imagine the loss was on sat(no calls or nothing the whole weekend) .

My husband and I asked him for reason for the pre term labour he couldn't give us a specific reason . Just said stress , sex we had a night before or anything .

Let me just stop here ,I am recovering and I pray no one ever experience such treatment as I feel like this could have been controlled and the loss was due to negligence .
I'm angry in your place but thank God you are alive. By HIS grace your permanent testimony is on its way. Take heart and rest.

Family / Re: Real Reason African/nigerian Wives Don't Want Their Husband's Relatives To Visit by forzarush(f): 8:31am On Feb 08, 2020
donstan18:

No, you are wrong. That's not what women are expecting their husbands to do. They want their to stop their relatives from visiting in the of privacy.

Talking about relatives, do you know that in Nigerian homes, relatives of the wives are always comfortable and relaxed than that of the husbands?

You know why? Because Nigerian wives by default are not accommodating and this, will automatically make the husbands relatives restless in the house.
Fallacy! Most families I know harbour the husband's relatives who even rarely pitch in with chores. And who says wives' relatives are ALWAYS comfortable and relaxed? And you spoilt it all with the last paragraph,we are not all witches and the in-laws always saints.
