The Cross River Police Command has paraded a man who allegedly killed and beheaded his aunt in Calabar South Local Government Area of the state.

LIB reported that the suspect, Christian Edem-Eyo,34, allegedly murdered Uduak Effiong Okpo, 65, and buried her head and the body separately on June 23.

Briefing newsmen on Tuesday, July 6, in Calabar, Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Sikiru Akande, said that the suspect would soon be charged to court accordingly.

The murder suspect told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that he killed Okpo because she belonged to the spiritual world.

"I killed Uduak Okpo because she belonged to the marine world. She was terrorising me spiritually in the compound," he said.

"She was making my manhood to rise spiritually, that was why I killed her," he added.

God have mercy on me. Nobody is a saint we all have one way or the other done something bad while in school. Let me tell a story.

I was 16 and just finished high school when a friend pimped me out to her sugar daddy for N30,000 in 2005. I couldn't date the man because he was far older than me.

He kept calling and we later became friends without any attachment.

I gained admission to university and I was basically training myself in school by doing menial jobs. Things became so hard that I had no choice than to call on my older friend to assist but he gave me one condition to sleep with him.

I had no choice cos I was exhausted already from seeing myself through school plus I didn't want to drop out, I was in 300l and was 21yrs old. That year was the best year of my life cos this man really spoilt me with lots of goodies and the rest.


In my final year in school, my older lover had returned from overseas so I left my school in Enugu and came down to Lagos without my family's knowledge to visit him and collect my goodies plus allowance.

Beloved I got to his house and after all the pleasantries we went down to s#x, guess what? while he was ejaculating he had cardiac, as in he was on me when the attack happened. Naïve me pushed him off my body and rushed down to get help as I didn't know what to do.

I got his nephew who immediately rushed upstairs, did what he could do and we both rushed him to the hospital.

We got to the first hospital he was rejected, arrived to the second hospital he was pronounced dead. *Tears*

This sugar daddy of mine was a top naval officer overseas.

The nephew called his brother and that one arrived immediately at the hospital with police. I was arrested and taken to the station to explain what happened. I got to the station, I explained how I knew and how long we have known each other. I lied we were at the dining when he said he wanted to go take his bath, when I heard a loud sound on rushing to the room I saw him face down and that was when I rushed down to call for help.

Only God knew how this lie came about because I was in shock and couldn't start saying how he had cardiac arrest while releasing on me. How the police believed me is only God knows because his brother's intention was to lock me up.


They took me back to his mansion to inspect, we got there and everything was as it was no violence God knows I would never have thought to harm my benefactor God forbid. I loved him and was even planning to join him overseas after school.

The police explained to the family how it was obvious I never killed him and they have to conduct autopsy to ascertain cause of death. My beloved that was how I was released that night. I went straight to my aunty's house who also benefited from him. God bless her for understanding. All through that night I was still in shocked. It was in the morning that it dawned on me that Lucky was actually dead and gone for good.


For 3 days straight days,I was useless and was shocked on how I narrowly escaped been labelled a murderer at 21yrs old.


After some weeks with my aunty I went back to school as a shadow of myself. Thank God I was even through with my final exams and was waiting to defend my project. My family till today don't know I have ever gone through that stage in my life. I wish I could turn the hands of clock back I could have saved him.

It's quiet unfortunate I couldn't help. Until his death that was when I knew who he truly was. I know he took advantage of me but he was helpful and the few yrs of dating him was my best. I pity that poor girl to have decided to ruin her life by killing her benefactor. She would have just chop and move on. Nobody is a saint so no one should say rubbish to me. I have confessed to God and I am sure He has forgiven me. I decided to share this story after more than 10 yrs it happened. That was my only first and last sugar daddy I ever had. I am married now with two kids. All I pray to God is to not allow my kids to go into trouble because of lack. Peace........

Chittoor (Andhra Pradesh): In a horrifying incident in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor, a man killed his daughter's friend and chopped the body into pieces. Police recovered the body on Friday morning and arrested the girl's father.
The incident took place at Pengaragunta village in Palamaner Mandal of Chittoor district. According to the police, the victim was in love with the accused person's daughter.

Speaking to ANI, Palamaner Sub Divisional Police Officer C M Gangaiah said, "Dhanasekhar (24) went missing from his house on May 22. His parents searched for him initially but did not find him. Later they lodged a complaint at Palamaneru police station on May 26."

"The missing case was registered and police started searching for him. The police checked his call list and found the last call details. Accordingly, the police came to know that he went to the house of one Babu (45) in the village. In police enquiry, Babu admitted that he had killed Dhanasekhar," he added.

According to the police investigation, on the night of May 22, Babu went to the field for a night stay but returned home for some reason. He heard some noise from his daughter's room. Babu found Dhanasekhar there. In a fit of anger, he beat Dhanasekhar to death. Babu later dumped the body in a well in his field. After two days, the body went afloat in the well. He then removed the body from the well, cut it into pieces and buried it in a place near his field.

"After Babu's confession, the police recovered the body this morning from the ground. After postmortem, the body was handed over to his parents," the SDPO said.

Chittoor Police altered the missing case into a murder case and arrested the accused, further investigation is underway.

Coffee, cola or an energy drink: caffeine is the world’s most widely consumed psychoactive substance. Researchers from the University of Basel have now shown in a study that regular caffeine intake can change the gray matter of the brain. However, the effect appears to be temporary.

No question – caffeine helps most of us to feel more alert. However, it can disrupt our sleep if consumed in the evening. Sleep deprivation can in turn affect the gray matter of the brain, as previous studies have shown. So can regular caffeine consumption affect brain structure due to poor sleep? A research team led by Dr. Carolin Reichert and Professor Christian Cajochen of the University of Basel and UPK (the Psychiatric Hospital of the University of Basel) investigated this question in a study.

The result was surprising: the caffeine consumed as part of the study did not result in poor sleep. However, the researchers observed changes in the gray matter, as they report in the journal Cerebral Cortex. Gray matter refers to the parts of the central nervous system made up primarily of the cell bodies of nerve cells, while white matter mainly comprises the neural pathways, the long extensions of the nerve cells.

A group of 20 healthy young individuals, all of whom regularly drink coffee on a daily basis, took part in the study. They were given tablets to take over two 10-day periods, and were asked not to consume any other caffeine during this time. During one study period, they received tablets with caffeine; in the other, tablets with no active ingredient (placebo). At the end of each 10-day period, the researchers examined the volume of the subjects’ gray matter by means of brain scans. They also investigated the participants’ sleep quality in the sleep laboratory by recording the electrical activity of the brain (EEG).

Sleep unaffected, but not gray matter
Data comparison revealed that the participants’ depth of sleep was equal, regardless of whether they had taken the caffeine or the placebo capsules. But they saw a significant difference in the gray matter, depending on whether the subject had received caffeine or the placebo. After 10 days of placebo – i.e. “caffeine abstinence” – the volume of gray matter was greater than following the same period of time with caffeine capsules.

The difference was particularly striking in the right medial temporal lobe, including the hippocampus, a region of the brain that is essential to memory consolidation. “Our results do not necessarily mean that caffeine consumption has a negative impact on the brain,” emphasizes Reichert. “But daily caffeine consumption evidently affects our cognitive hardware, which in itself should give rise to further studies.” She adds that in the past, the health effects of caffeine have been investigated primarily in patients, but there is also a need for research on healthy subjects.

Although caffeine appears to reduce the volume of gray matter, after just 10 days of coffee abstinence it had significantly regenerated in the test subjects. “The changes in brain morphology seem to be temporary, but systematic comparisons between coffee drinkers and those who usually consume little or no caffeine have so far been lacking,” says Reichert.
