[quote author=Cutehector post=43627512]It's ur greediness dat got u duped.[/quality uote]

Not that I was greedy, cos the subscription tariff is not wide compared to the one I usually do, I was just trying to patronize an individual so that he can also make little profit instead of MTN as usual.
Romance / I Have Just Been Duped By Data Sub Seller On Nairaland by foxvilles: 8:39pm On Mar 09, 2016
I know I'm not supposed to post this on romance section but this is the place I actually got the advert for buying data sub by a nairalander advertising his business.

I saw his subscription tariffs in one of the comment sections although I've been seeing many of such lately and I just decided to go for a specific one to try it out of its really worth it. I decided to save his number on my contact just in case if he's trust worthy enough I can make him my data subscription supplier.

Today, due to an assignment I was given which requires thorough online research, I decided to subscribe because my subscription got finished few weeks ago and I'm managing my blackberry bis subscription but I'm not usually comfortable using my blackberry for surfing the web. It's not as flexible as my Android device.

I decided to call the guy last night, his phone rang for a couple of times but he didn't pick, so he called this morning which I told him I'm in need of data sub. I could have gone for the normal MTN subscription I usually do but I just decided to patronize a fellow brother here on nairaland to see if it will go well and in turn I can be requesting for data sub from him. While on the call he asked me to specify the type I need which I told him and he also gave other suitable options too but being the first time, I decided to minimize my demand.

To cut the story short, he said he was going to send the data and then after I make the payment he'll test the activation code. Few minutes later, I saw the message that I've received the data subscription in which I can't use till I activate. Since I'm not on cash, I decided to use my Mobile banking app to transfer the money. I then called the guy if he's seen alert, he said no, I tried to show understanding because sometimes network could be bad. After few hours I had to call again and still he said he haven't seen anything and my bank account has been debited. I decided to transfer airtime on my line to see if it's going to go through, to my greatest surprise it went through and my account was again debited. I decided to call the guy, he said maybe he should give me another number so that I can send the airtime for the data sub purchase. Till evening he still said he hasn't seen anything.

I know I've already being duped but I was trying to show understanding to someone that doesn't even care whether I'm a student or not.

Why I wrote this long epistle is so that others won't fall for this same crap, sometimes you might just want to assist a brother make his market move but they end up biting your finger. This is his number here just in case: 08147337367.

Health / Re: The Zika Virus, Five Things You Need To Know by foxvilles: 3:45pm On Jan 31, 2016
WHO will always find one or two things to make sure they regular or deter the speedy growth of human population.

"Women should avoid getting pregnant for at least two years." something sounds mischievous right there.
As people will continue to die, birthrate will drastically be reduced or put to a halt. That's indirectly trying to reduce the human populace.

God is watching all of them. As for my country Nigeria, nothing will stop us from being the largest black nation in the world. Zika, Zaka or whatever it's being called will not find its way into the Shores of Africa and Nigeria as a Nation.

Not all touch screen laptops have problem. It depends on your luck.
My bro bought his Acer Aspire V5 since 3years ago and it has been working effectively j efficiently. No touch screen malfunction or any breakdown plus it still looks good.

Sometimes, it all depends on your luck but its also good to go by your preferred specifications to satisfy your want.

Education / Start Preparing For Life After School [A Must Read For All Students] by foxvilles: 9:50am On Jan 16, 2016
Let’s make something clear, “students think”. In
fact, students think a lot about money, drinks,
parties, opposite s*x and so on but most
importantly students think about their lives after
school, which is good.

The bad thing however is that what they think about
life after school are majorly unrealistic thoughts like,
“hey, I am finally in 100 level studying economics in
Kogi State University, and I’ll graduate in 4 years’
time, then go for service and probably do some
masters and PhD thingy then get a job and make
money”.
That’s so unrealistic that its makes WWE wrestling
more real. Its plain garbage thought you need to
start getting out of your head. This life isn’t
Hollywood, and when you’re born into one hell of a
country like Nigeria you need to wise up and start
thinking with your “brain”.
If you can take your time and look outside your
window to see millions of graduates roaming about
the streets you’ll probably understand that it’s not as
easy as you think it is, if it was that easy your parents
and your friends parents and all parents in Nigeria
will be multi billionaires and you may not even need
to go to school.
Life isn’t easy, and Nigeria is making life even harder
for Nigerians. The labour market is so choked up, it
will take extra power for an angel to pass through.

There is hardship in every corner of the country and
the earlier you realize these things, the better for
you.
So instead partying and smiling all around school why
don’t you sit yourself down and not only think
logically but also plan logically. These topics might get
you onto the right path:

– First and foremost you need to realize you only
have one life to live, every circumstance you find
yourself will most definitely come once, you don’t go
to primary school twice, well, except you’re going
there the second time to teach or something. My
point is, in every situation you find yourself you have
to try hard in making the best outta that situation, if
you don’t succeed, it’s okay, at least you tried.

– Ask yourself questions, like why are there few rich
people in the country, what can I do to get there,
what are my potentials, what are my weaknesses. You
have tons of questions you should start asking
yourself.

– You need to start tasking yourself. Are you too
young to make money?? I mean, there are lots of
unemployed graduates out there who still depend on
their parents. I know you don’t want to belong in that
category when you’re done with school. You need to
know what you have to do to make that money so
you do not have to depend on anybody.
God has given you a talent, why don’t you discover it
and start using it to make money now. There are tons
of things you can do as an undergraduate that can
cough out money for you, you just need to think and
plan on how to strike a balance between your
academics and what you’re doing.
It’s not how petty the job is or how little you’re
earning. It’s about knowing for a fact that you can do
something to improve your situation.
A lot of OND, HND, BSc, PhD holders are out there
(those certs are common these days), some even
have all those certs with them at the moment but
have nothing to show for it because they failed to
realize that school is not about learning on how to
work for a boss, it’s also about how to develop
yourself to being your own boss.

– You need to stop thinking about your future and
know that the future you are thinking of is “NOW”.
You have to start thinking and planning logically from
now on.

– You need to start encouraging yourself to do things
that’ll make you big. Forget where you are now, it
doesn’t matter, its where you’re going to be when it’s
all said and done that matters.
Forget the fact that you stay in Dagana or you stay in
one shady place around KSU, and your fellow mates
stay in billionaires lodge or exquisite lodge (it’s
probably not their money anyways), it doesn’t matter.
What matters is that you are formulating a plan that
will change your situation when four years is done
and dusted.

– All in all you have to think of doing only what’s
necessary to get that money, not something people
like or what they don’t like, not what brings shame to
you or doesn’t bring shame to you, you don’t have to
care what people think about you, ’cause at the end
of it all it’s you and only you that matters.

Nobody remembers the disgusting or not disgusting
things Dangote has done in the past, because it was
necessary to get him to where he is now, “the richest
man in Africa”.

Religion / Ponder As You Prepare For Festive Picnics by foxvilles: 6:23am On Dec 24, 2015
ARE YOU A FUN LOVER, A NIGHT CRAWLER?

PONDER AS YOU PREPARE FOR FESTIVE PICNICS

To everything, there is a time….

If you consider this period to be a time to have funs after a long stretch of twelve painstaking and tasking months, you may be right! Nevertheless, the contents of your opinion with regards to the type of fun will make lots of difference.
What then or how then should you have or should you not have funs?
Before taking you into expository discourse, let’s search the scriptures as recipe to your intended fun. As you read, take the word as a mirror before you.

To the night crawlers…

Prov. 20:1 - Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

Prov. 23:19 - Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way.

Vs. 20 - Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh.

Vs. 29 - Who hath woe? Who hath sorrow? Who hath contentions? Who hath babbling? Who hath wounds without cause? Who hath redness of eyes?

Vs. 30 - They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.

Vs. 31 - Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth its colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.

Vs. 32 - At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an Adder.

Vs. 33 - Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things.

Vs. 34 - Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast.

Vs. 35 - They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.

Let God guide you!

Investment / Facebook And Eutelsat To Bring Internet Connectivity To Africa by foxvilles: 5:11pm On Oct 09, 2015
Facebook has announced it’ll be partnering Eutelsat, a French Communication firm on a new initiative to make Internet connectivity available in Africa using satellite technologies.

Eutelsat and Facebook will be utilizing the “entire broadband payload” on the future AMOS-6 satellite to build a dedicated system that’ll supply connectivity to 14 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. The AMOS-6 satellite will go live later this year.

“ Facebook’s mission is to connect the world and we believe that satellites will play an important role in addressing the significant barriers that exist in connecting the people of Africa. We are looking forward to partnering with Eutelsat on this project and investigating new ways to use satellites to connect people in the most remote areas of the world more efficiently,” Facebook’s VP of Internet.org Chris Daniels said concerning the partnership, which continues the company’s Internet.org initiative.
Michel de Rosen, Eutelsat Chairman and CEO, also noted his company’s excitement towards stepping up Internet connectivity in Africa: “We are excited by this opportunity to accelerate the deployment of our broadband strategy and to partner with Facebook on a new initiative to provide Internet access services in Africa. Eutelsat’s strong track record in operating High Throughput Satellite systems will ensure that we can deliver accessible and robust Internet solutions that get more users online and part of the Information Society.” .

The project transmission will begin in the second half of 2016, according to Facebook, with connectivity beamed to users beyond the reach fixed and terrestrial mobile networks.

Romance / What Does It Mean When Ladies Can't Look At A Guy Straight In The Eye? by foxvilles: 2:33pm On Oct 09, 2015
I've been having this problem for quite some times now.

I'm more of an Introvert kinda guy. No gf, not too many female friends either, mostly indoors except when going to class for lectures or church service.

Sometimes, whenever I try to engage talking with a gurl, they start by being normally confident and all that but, within that very same minute, they won't be able to look straight into my eyes.

I've experienced this several times on different occasions. Not that I'm handsome, I'm just an average guy (I think).

There was a time, close to whre I stay in school, a nearby filling station, there's this lady who works in the filling station mall, she's very nice, sometimes she gives me her phone to help her fix some stuffs which I usually find out there's nothing wrong with the phone most of the time. All of a sudden one Saturday evening, when I went to buy few groceries, I greeted her and she greeted too but the greeting ended with 'pastor', I thought I didn't hear it clearly until she repeated it one more time with "what do you want to buy 'pastor'?

I just acted like it's nothing but what bothered me was that, when I was talking with her, she couldn't look at me in the eye anymore unlike before. It has happened so many times.
There was a time too when I went to a bank inside my school to do some transactions, when I entered, I saw people sitting down, most were female students though, I noticed some were staring, I wasn't having a pen with me so I had to go borrow a pen from one of them. Not long after, while I was busy writing, she tapped me and calmly said I'm going, then I immediately understood she was politely asking for her pen. That was when I discovered she was really beautiful, I smiled and try to be friendly, tho I'm very shy too but sometimes you just have to pocket shame before you let something precious slip away.

I was still smiling and trying to be friendly and saying few funny things, her friend was laughing not far away, she just couldn't keep the direct eye contact and had to face somewhere else but smiling too, then I gave her back her pen and she left. Staring somewhere else actually made me feel somehow and till I went back home that day , I was just wondering why that happens everytime.

I'm just furious, what could it mean when ladies try to avoid looking directly at you when having a conversation with them?

Good morning everyone!

I know this post is not supposed to be here buh pardon my inability to locate the right segment.

Straight to the point: I woke up this early morning and the first message I saw on my phone was sent by MTN.

The message is about their promo which says the customer (I) should load #750 and dial a specific code to enjoy 1GB free data + #750 free worth of airtime.

As the case goes, I mistakenly deleted the message after purchasing the #750 airtime. I've been trying to retrieve it buh all to avail. I don't know if anyone have also received the same message, please help post it, I really need the code to subscribe for the data so that I won't waste the money in vain.

I know awoof is not good but someone should try help me cos no amount is too small for a student.

Thank you!

Celebrities / For Those Nairalanders That Doesn't Know About 'bono', Here Is A Brief About Hi by foxvilles: 9:25am On Aug 28, 2015
Bio: With his soaring voice, larger-than-life personality, and ostentatious stage performances — he has climbed the scaffolding at concerts and assumed alter egos like the Fly and Mirror Ball Man — Bono not only helped steer the course for post-Eighties rock & roll, but also became pop music's global ambassador. Away from the studio and stage, the U2 frontman has helped raise awareness of social causes ranging from world hunger and AIDS to third-world debt relief. He's met with and won the praises of world leaders from George W. Bush to the presidents of Argentina, Brazil and France. He's been granted Knighthood and nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. And he's become a formidable entrepreneur as co-founder of the private equity firm Elevations Partners. He was born Paul David Hewson on May 10, 1960, in Dublin, Ireland, and raised along with a brother in the neighborhood of Glasnevi. His mother was a Protestant and his father a Catholic. Hewson initially went to a Catholic grammar school but later attended the progressive nondenominational Mount Temple High School. When he was 14 his mother died of a brain aneurysm. By then Hewson had become part of a group of teens, including singer Gavin Friday, who formed a fantasy world called Lypton Village for which they gave themselves nicknames. Hewson was christened Bono Vox (Latin for good voice), from the name of a local hearing aid shop. In 1975, he began dating Alison Stewart (the couple would marry in 1982, eventually having two girls and two boys). In 1976 he responded to 14-year-old drummer Larry Mullen's ad for band members, and the seeds of U2 were planted; within four years the band, by then inspired by the sounds of such punk and postpunk acts as Siouxie and the Banshees and Joy Division, would sign to Island and begin work on their 1980 debut Boy. Meanwhile, Bono other members of Lypton Village had become involved in a Bible study group, which informed much of the band's early music, particularly songs like "Gloria," from its second album, October, in 1981.

Increasingly, Bono's lyrics integrated his spiritual beliefs with social and political themes, and by the time of 1983's critical and commercial breakthrough, War (Number 12) — with its anthem-like singles and the MTV staples "New Year's Day" (Number Two) and "Sunday Bloody Sunday" (Number Seven) — he was being hailed as a rock & roll crusader. Bono continued in that earnestly passionate vein through several U2 albums including The Unforgettable Fire (Number 12, 1984), The Joshua Tree (Number One, 1987) and Rattle & Hum (Number One, 1988). But by the early 1990s, Bono, teetering on the brink of self-parody, began to assume new characters in U2's music and stage performances. On Achtung Baby (Number One, 1991), U2 added elements of industrial and dance music, and during the band's Zoo TV tour in support of the album, Bono appeared onstage as the Fly, a parody of the arrogant rock star, and Mirror Ball Man, which mocked televangelists. Bono's newfound irony continued on Zooropa (Number One, 1993) and the long-awaited Pop (Number One, 1997), which added techno-disco textures to the band's sound.

By then, though, critics had soured on Bono's
reinventions of himself, and the album received lukewarm reviews. Bono himself expressed dissatisfaction with the album, and the band came back three years later with the critically acclaimed Number Three album All That You Can't Leave Behind, on which Bono was back to his optimistic, anthemic self on the single "Beautiful Day" (Number 21, 2000). By the late 1990s, Bono began spending more of his time on h is philanthropic ventures. He had been motivated to use his star power after seeing a Secret Policeman's Ball benefit show for Amnesty International in 1979, and during the Eighties U2 performed at a number of major benefits including Band Aid, Live Aid and Amnesty International's Conspiracy of Hope tour. But in 1999, he stepped up his activism, tirelessly campaigning for third-world debt relief and shining a light on poverty and the AIDS pand emic in Africa. In 2002 he accompanied President Bush during his White House lawn speech on the U.S.'s commitment to Africa. Bono also accompanied dignitaries on a trip to the African continent and criticized world leaders who were late to the cause. In 2004 he cofounded the ONE campaign along with eleven major humanitarian groups advocating on behalf of children, world hunger and medical aid. In 2005 he and Band Aid/Live Aid organizer Bob Geldof teamed up to present the Live 8 concerts calling attention to the G8 Conference and summit that year in Scotland.

From 2003 to 2010, Bono won numerous
accolades for his humanitarian work including
three Nobel Peace Prize nominations; in 2004, the government of Chile awarded him the Pablo Neruda International Presidential Medal of Honor.

Bono's humanitarian work has not gone without criticism. Some observers have called his philanthropic zeal narcissistic; a writer and former Peace Corps volunteer penned a scathing 2005 opinion piece for The New York Times, suggesting the attention that Bono and other celebrities get for their causes is harmful, creating the impression that complex world problems can be easily fixed. That same year Bono drew some ire from his left-leaning supporters when he became a major business mogul, cofounding Elevation Partners to invest in entertainment and media businesses, one being the Forbes Media group, another being a company that makes war-simulation video games.

In 2007 he and U2 were criticized for moving part of their song catalog out of Ireland after the government stopped giving tax breaks to musicians' royalties. Meanwhile, Bono continued recording and touring with U2 in the first decade of the 2000s, releasing two more chart-toppers: How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb (2004) and No Line on the Horizon (2009).

Food / Why You Should Consider Quitting Roadside Snacks Consumption by foxvilles: 10:51pm On Aug 22, 2015
Am a lover of the regular and common road side Nigeria snacks but sometimes I get disgusted at the sight of some certain things.

When I say road side snacks, I mean foods like roasted and boiled corns, fried yams, fried Akara, roasted plantain, puff puffs, fried fish and other snacks that are usually sold along the streets and at various bus stops. I can imagine what question is running through your mind right now-What else is left for us to eat? Yes, sometimes I share the same thought but regardless of how hard it is, the bitter truth has to be told.

These snacks which are technically called “ready to eat foods” have actually become part of the regular diets of many particularly the rural and local dwellers. In my quest to unravel the rampant cases of poisonings and hazards, I have come to realise that many of the issues are due to these kinds of food with less cases associated with homemade foods.

How To Avoid Food Poisoning Eating At Eateries/ Restaurants

Just some few days ago, I and my big brother
visited somewhere in Ipaja (Lagos) in his car, as we both looked by our right while in the slow moving traffic, we saw a road side Yam and Akara (fried bean cake) seller. Just in the traffic, a faulty trailer was in front of us, which was producing some very thick, dark and dangerous carbon monoxide and had most of the gas directly deposited on the displayed foods. This happens virtually every time as the seller is just by the very busy road.

We all are aware of the state of our trucks, trailer, cars and even the Lagos commercial buses, popularly called “Danfo” as regards the
quality of their exhausts. What of the dust deposit on some of these snacks? Only a few of the sellers cover the foods with a transparent nylon to provide some forms of shield. The deposits are seriously causing health hazards unknowing to millions of people on daily basis.
Many of the women and men who sell these ready to made snack wear dirty aprons, rub their hands over it, use their hand to pick charcoals, clean up for their children particularly the women and eventually used these contaminated hands to touch and reposition the roasted corns or plantains to be package for customers. A colleague of mine recently had severe diarrhoea and he was quick to identify the source; a road side snack.

These roadside food outlets are making many
consumers especially children and women
vulnerable to fatal diseases such as cholera,
typhoid and gastroenteritis. The utensils and
containers used in making these road sides
ready to make snacks are usually not very clean. For me, I love to eat these snacks but the thought of all these unhygienic handling deter me from enjoying them.

Well, if you must consume these snacks, chose to buy from sellers you can trust as regards how they handle the issue of hygiene in their production or cooking process.

How come every part of their girls body resemble either the dad or mum. The girls hand, legs, neck, movements, hight and etc. Blood don't lie period. Unless, those promoting " Mitchell is a man" , come up with a convincing explanation as to why the girls look more of their parents, I remains unconvinced

It shouldn't be a new thing to you when talking of genetic alterations. Technology have gone so far that when they begin to tell you some things, you'll begin to say it's impossible.

There's nothing that can't be manipulated as far as human beings are concerned.

If you've watched 24, you'll know how easy it is to match babies with parents through bio-genetics, and don't forget, this is US bro, anything is almost possible.

While browsing on my phone, I received a video message from my whatsapp. I actually thoight i should ignore it. After a while, I was less busy and decided to peruse all my unread messages, that was when I bumped into the video, I downloaded it. Guess what I saw?..........'Michelle Obama, first lady of the US, a man.
Immediately, i readjusted. I was like wait o, so obama is also a driller?

I don't know if it's true or not, but I decided to take my time to research on it, and it really sounds so true.

★Michelle Obama IS “Michael LaVaughn Robinson”
SHOCKINGLY Barry Calls His Wife Michael NOT Michelle
In a speech on September 30, 2011, at the transition or
change-of-office ceremony of the Chairman of the Joint
Chiefs of Staff at Fort Myer, Virginia, Obama referred to his
wife not as Michelle but as Michael.

It’s hard to keep a lie hiding this one is an amazing feat
indeed, as President Obama must have wanted the world to
know, what a burden to keep this huge situation so private.
It must be a relief somewhat now that the conversation has
begun. People need to be who they need to be – we are
spirts.

Well ladies and gentlemen our “First Lady” is actually the First Man. Even more startling, Barack Obama knows that his wife was once a man, making him the first homogay President of our Christian nation.

According to the Examiner, after high school Michael
Obama had a sex change operation done, after having
supposedly claimed for years to have been a woman in a
man’s body.“Michelle Obama, First Lady of the United
States, was born Michael LaVaughn Robinson in Chicago,
Illinois on January 17th, 1964.

He was the second son born to Fraser Robinson III and
Marian Shields Robinson. How about this for news, it’s
hard to imagine this is real, how can anyone report this
story is fake. I’m not sure either way – so confusing.
And so if this is real, then let the truth be known. Love for
each other, no matter what will save this planet from
destruction. So bring it on….

Remember when Ellen came out of the closet, she had a tv
show sitcom, and she thought she would be banned from
society for telling the truth, but then everyone loved and
accepted her – and now she is a very popular tv host on
daytime reaching millions of homes every day.

So, if this story is indeed true we have to grasp this, put
our loving arms around it, then let’s move forward –
coming from San Francisco for decades I’ve meet and seen
some “weird people” but – let our hearts be open and look
at the good in a person. Lifestyle is a private choice.
If Michael is a nice person, a kind person a loving person to
herself and others that surround her and our world’s
population both as human beings, animals, our forests, our
rivers, our oceans, our skies, all of mother nature intended
for us- then let our hearts be warmed and inspired by her
leadership in a world full of hate.

Begin anew – put love in your hearts – this is strange if
true which it does seem to be true, we just have to take a
moment and say a prayer for the world’s highest good and
our world leaders always do the right thing by the people
that they SERVE…..
One Creator for All – Make this World a Better World – No
Matter what your title is, your paycheck is, or if you don’t
have a job – be kind people.
The story continues because why would anyone just want to say this ……but there has always been for many years now, a distrust and suspicion the Obamas have engendered, due entirely to Barack’s secretiveness concerning his Selective Service registration, school records (including even his kindergarten record!), and medical records; his refusal to explain why his Social Security number has a Connecticut prefix; and his outright deception about his birth certificate, an image of which he made public on April 27, 2011, but which forensic experts have determined to be a fake.
