That won't be a problem you will receive your study permit in Montreal. My port of entry too will be Montreal. When is your flight with Qatar Airways?

Yes you have to print it out to sign then you scan the signed copy and upload. That's how I did mine cos there was no room for singing digitally.

Do I need to PRINT the IMM5645 FAMILY INFORMATION to SIGN and SCAN it?
I am applying for a study permit (ONLINE).

The said form (IMM5645) cannot be validated online, unlike the others that can be validated online and no need to print and sign it.

I am using the old IRCC portal. I tried the new one but the 2mb file size limit is very limiting.

Make sure you have filled every part of the form before validating. It will not validate unless you have filled every aspect and signed

No, just walk in with your passport, passport request letter, photocopy of your passport, and the white slip given to you after your biometrics

Yea they are expensive when u book close to your arrival. I'm not sure about hotels cos I booked an Airbnb. The place I stayed had full services like WiFi, equiped kitchen etc.
Just look for the cheapest option and go for it.

When I applied I got a funding letter from my supervisor too but I also showed bank statement of my mum(sponsor) and her land documents. I explained in my SOP and letter of sponsorship that my scholarship covers my tuition and leaving expenses but my mum has enough money to sponsor me without the scholarship. Also she would be funding my travel and first month before the funding kicks in.

There will not be any issues since it's within 1 month before your start date. I have already booked my flight for the first week of April too.

If you can get an English proficiency letter from the registrar of your past uni or vice principal academics for secondary school this will serve. The letter will state that you were taught in English and your first language is English.

Note that if you haven’t paid your tuition make sure you have the funds with you before coming to canada or pay before coming. I went to pickup someone at the airport who deferred admission till May 2023 hasn’t paid tuition but came in to canada this week, the visa officers only stamp him 3 months visa and told him to come back once he has paid his full tuition fee.


Guys be ready or else you will be stranded if you don’t have cash. Also it’s -9 degrees today the snow and ice on the road is almost 5 ft height. If you have gotten your visa prioritize buying wool winter jackets and not the thin jackets . Jackets here cost from 60 cad to as high as 900 cad in Toronto .

As a newbie in canada it can be hard to get a job because employers like work experience like breakfast ,lunch and dinner. I have seen some students waiting to get the job of their dream for months and their parents are still sending them money for their rents and other expenses to the point they are relaxing, not knowing they need to build resume. Take advantage of volunteering in school too, its helps to get jobs.

That's a generic message they send to everyone whose passport is ready. The sent me the same thing I but I still went there(Lagos VFS) in person to collect it. Just make sure you go between 8am to 10am.
