Episode 22

~ Adannaya's POV ~

After eating real quick, we walked back towards the building. We walked inside and guess what? Dike bumped into us at the front door.

“Hi, you must be Ada's boyfriend,” Dike started the conversation.

“Yes, I am. You are?” Ckay answered in a cold tone but still managed to be polite.

“I’m Dike James, the producer here, and Ada's....hmm, we knew each other,” Dike said nervously.

“Everyone, let's continue,” Dorothy called us in.

“I have to go you… will wait here right?” I asked Ckay and he nodded.

“Okay…go in there,” Ckay smiled at me and gave me a peck on my lip. I walked inside the audition room again and sat beside Peter Omori. Dike walked in not long after me, and he sat at the end of the table.

Stan walked in and started auditioning. I kinda liked his acting skills but something was missing though. I couldn’t see charisma in him.
The next one was Richard and I kinda liked him too but still not right.

“Linda Osifo was next. I love her,” Dorothy said and yes, Linda entered. Oh boy, she was more beautiful in real life, and just by staring there, she was perfect for the role of the supporting major role.

“Hello everyone, I’m Linda Osifo,” she introduced herself, and then she started acting. Oh boy, she was good.

I turned to Peter and he gave me a nod already. Linda kept showing us her skills in acting and she was damn good. When she left the room, we all cheered right away. We found our supporting major role and I excused myself for a moment because I wanted to personally talk to her.

I walked out of the room and called Linda. I asked her to come with me to another empty room.

“Is it okay if I call you Linda?” I asked politely.

“Of course, everything is okay,” she answered and I smiled.

“Did you read the book?”

“Of course, I love Ifenkili's book and even auditioning for the movie meant a lot to me,” she said excitedly.

“Well, I really love your acting and I think you really suit to be playing the main role, but let's see how it goes first. We might still consider it. I know we still need to talk about it as a team but still, I admire your acting skill.”

“Thank you so much, Ms. Ada. I was nervous…”

“Actually, I'm Ifenkili,” I announced to her and her eyes widened. She covered her mouth with her hand completely shocked, and she was speechless now.

“Wow, I’m your biggest fan. When will you release your new book?” she asked right away and I chuckled.

“I always keep my identity a secret and I only reveal it to some people. I wanted to tell you personally that you did remarkable and I want you to play the main role in the movie.

“Thank you, miss Ifenkili.”

“Oh, just call me Ada. Ifenkili isn’t my real name. I made that up,” I smiled and she nodded.

“Thank you, Ada.”

“Okay, I just wanted to say that, because you impressed me. You can go now and after the main character is finalized, we’ll let you know,” I said and she smiled.
She puts her hand in front of me and I shook it. We walked out of the room together and she bid her goodbyes.

I walked back into the casting room to continue the casting process. They would continue the casting process tomorrow and I won’t be joining that because I have another important meeting.

After three hours, I walked out of the room and walked towards the waiting room. I saw Ckay sleeping on the sofa and I couldn’t help but smile.
I walked towards him slowly and knelt closer to him. I slowly caressed his cheek and he moved a little bit. I started to kiss him on his cheek and he opened his eyes.

“Hey… you’re tired?” I asked and he nodded. He got up slowly and I put my hand in front of him.

“What do you want for dinner?” I asked.

“Anything…., ” he said as I looked around.

“Let's go, I’m done. Did you come with your car here or ?”

“Yeah…,” he nodded and I pulled him to get up. We walked out of the building and before we could walk towards the parking lots, Dike called me and he walked towards me right away.

Ckay's body was tensed and I held his hand tightly.

“Ada… Uhm, can we talk tomorrow?” He asked me.

“No.”

“Please…it's about the cast…,”

“I have an important meeting tomorrow and I can’t talk to you.”

“It's about work, ” he said.

“I’ll ask Peter later on,” I interrupted him and Ckay took a step forward.

“Stay away from my girlfriend,” he hissed coldly and I pulled Ckay away. We walked towards his car and I took the car key from him.

“Hey.”

“I’m driving.”

“I will drive. Give me the car key."

“Shut up! I said and gestured for him to get inside. I got into the driver's seat and started the car.

“Okay…I’m going to send my parents a long message first,” he said and I smacked his arm laughing.

“I’m a good driver. You won’t die. I hissed and he laughed.

“Hey… I miss your dogs.”

“No…I still need time to settle in, besides they are happier in my parent's house,” he said and I turned to him in disbelief.

I connected my phone with his Bluetooth speaker in the car. I turned my favorite Rema's single (Calm Down).

“I like the beat,” he said and I started to drive away.

“Where are you taking me to?”

“To evil forests to k!ll you,” I said in a serious tone.

“Yeah… right. Your body size is just half of my size. How can you carry me and k!ll me?”

“I have a superpower,” I said and he laughed.

“You are such a weirdo.”

"Let it be."

~ Ckay's POV ~

Ada was currently staring at my hand and looking at it like she was observing it for some reason. She suddenly put his hand slowly on mine and then she intertwined her fingers with mine. I chuckled seeing her being so curious and just trying to express her feelings.

“Aren’t you tired?” She asked me suddenly.

“Yeah,” I answered honestly and I turned to her. She was already looking at me and she smiled.

“Take a shower and go to sleep. I will take this out,” she said as she tried to pull her hand tightly making her confused. She tried again but I shook my head.

“You are tired. Your eyes are falling.”

“I just don’t want the night to end,” I said as I looked up to the sky. She stood up and tried to pull me up from the seat. I kept my body down making it difficult to pull me up.

“Come on….you have to take a shower and sleep.”

“You are staying, right?” I asked and she nodded. I got up and walked inside. I took fresh clothes out of my closet and my eyes landed on Ada who was currently cleaning the pizza box and the crumbs on the table on the balcony.

I walked into the bathroom and took a quick shower. After that, I walked out of the bedroom. As I dried my hair, I turned my head to the balcony, but she wasn’t there.

I walked out of my room and found her calling someone. I showed myself to her and she gestured me to wait. I walked to the kitchen to make tea while hearing her speaking on the phone. She was talking about work, editing, book covers, and stuff.

“No, I can’t come tomorrow. But I can check on it on Friday. Okay….ok.. bye,” she ended the call and she got up from the sofa.

“Is everything Okay?”

“Yeah, everything is fine,” She said as she walked towards me.

“It’s your turn to take a shower,” I said as I waited for my water to boil. She stood beside me and then she sat on the kitchen table saying nothing.

“You okay?” I asked and she started to caress my cheek. She cupped my face and looked at it observing like she did earlier.

“Ada?”

“I..I think.”

“You what? Don’t even think about breaking up, because we do..,”

"Hmmm...," she interrupted.

My whole body got tensed and my heart beat so fast.

“What are you trying to say then? Are you trying to break up with me?” I asked her suspiciously because she had been observing and just acting a little bit odd.

“Huh? Break up with you? No!" She looked at me surprised.

“Then what?”

“I think I’ve missed you,” she said and my heart melted. I was so tense earlier because she kept looking at me like she was already to leave me or something.

“You do?” I asked and she nodded. I hugged her right away and chuckled.

“I missed you too,” I finished my meeting early and changed my flights to see you,” I said honestly.

“I can’t really sleep, ” she said in a small tone.

“Really? You missed me that much?” I asked him in a teasing tone and she pushed me away.

"You are annoying. You are ruining the mood," she hissed and I laughed.

"Take a shower and let’s go to bed," I said as I pulled her body up helping her to get down.

"Do you think I should talk to Dike?" she suddenly asked.

"Well, I don’t really like that guy, but since he used to be your best friend, and he did hurt you at some points, I still think you two should talk once... once," I said as we walked towards my room together.

"I will take a quick shower and go to sleep," she said.

"I will wait for you."

"Okay," she said and she walked into the bedroom. I lay on my bed and looked up at the ceiling. I couldn’t help but smile when she said she missed me. My heart was just full of joy at that point and I just couldn't express the happiness inside of me.
I turned on some music and closed my eyes as I was waiting for Ada to come out. I opened my eyes right away and when the bedroom door opened, her body was wrapped in a white towel as she walked towards my closet taking my hoodie out. She wore it and she looked at the mirror to fix her hair.

"Do you want me to turn off the lights?" she asked and turned to me.

"Yes," I said. She nodded, turned off the light, and walked towards me. She lay beside me and I put her clothes on.

"You must be tired. You need some sleep."

"I want to spend time talking to you. Is it a crime?" I asked and she chuckled.

"You have work tomorrow."

"No, I’m taking a break tomorrow. How about you?"

"I have an early meeting tomorrow, but after that, I’m done."

"Let’s go to the beach tomorrow," I suggested.

"Okay."

"Let’s stay there for a night. How’s that?"

"Are you sure you are not busy?" she asked in a careful tone.

"Yeah. Don’t worry," I said as I kissed the top of her head.

There was silence between us for a few seconds.

"Ckay?"

"Umm," I answered as I closed my eyes.

"What will happen if we break up?"

"Why do you ask that? Do you really want to break up with me that much?" I asked in a really small tone.

"I mean, you never know. It might happen."

“I don’t I don’t really like the idea of you talking about it. I never even think about it when I’m with you,” I said seriously, completely hating the fact that she was imagining the break-up.

“Sorry I just…well, nothing.”

“I’m happy now. I hope you are happy too. I’m happy when I'm with you. I don’t want to think about something bad that will happen between us,” I said and she suddenly kissed my cheek.

“Now, go to sleep,” she said as she patted my stomach slowly.

After that, I went to Dreamland.

Simple storytelling and first person narrative doesn't equate to amateurish storytelling. Polish the dialogues and narration while still keeping it simple. My one cent 🤷.

Episode 15

That incident at Cynthia's apartment turned out to be my most embarrassing moment on campus. The words she said to me always had a way of recurring in my head. I swore never to have anything to do with her. Yeah, I knew I shouldn’t have tried taking advantage of her, but her calmness was what really moved me, thinking she wanted more.

Besides, she overreacted. I was sure some of her close neighbors overheard her voice that night while I kept begging her to lower her voice, but she didn’t seem to care. I hated myself that moment, but I was glad I left so early before her lodge mate could come out.She might even go ahead to tell her friend, Jessy about the whole incident, and that one would go on to dislike me the more.

I couldn’t even tell Chido about it. He would laugh at me and make a mockery of me. So, after that day, I stopped talking to Cynthia. I avoided her like a plague and she too didn’t bother meeting me after classes as usual.

Well, I didn’t have anything to lose. It was obvious she didn’t feel the same way about me, so I made up my mind to 'freestyle' her matter. Meanwhile, those girls who took my contacts that day at the MTN kept chatting me up, asking when I would be free to have a tutorial with them. But I kept on posting them.

*

Fast forward to our matric day, the big day for the freshers. That day, my mind was made up not to attend the matriculation. There were two reasons; I felt it wasn’t worth celebrating, hence none of my relatives would grace the occasion due to distance. (Lagos to Owerri). It wasn’t worth the risk and transport fare, to and fro. I barely had friends or coursemates who showed little or no interest in taking pictures with me. The second reason was that I had no suit or new clothes to wear. So I concluded I’ll be in my lodge and keep my shame.

That Friday morning, I was in my room relaxing. Then the lodge president was going around taxing all the year one students in our lodge. He said we will host a mini party for them later tonight. According to him, it was a norm that freshers do every year. When he came to my room, he said the least I could pay was a thousand naira. I told him I was broke and had nothing on me.
But he insisted that all the freshers in our lodge already paid except me. According to him, some paid five thousand naira, he said trying to convince me.

"Those ones are rich kids, five hundred naira is all I can afford to give you," I told him unapologetically.

"Nawa for you oo," he complained, took the money, and left. He had no option because it wasn't mandatory.

For real, that lodge nearly exhausted me with several contributions and too much borrowing, but 'God pass them.'

Getting to 9:00 a.m. my phone rang and when I checked it was Chido calling.

"Oh boy, how far? Are you still sleeping? Won’t you go for the matric?" He said.

"No, not going there. I will be sleeping all day."

"Ah, why now? Did anybody offend you?"

"Nobody offended me," I replied lamely.

"Then get ready. I’m coming to your lodge so we can go together."

"Is it really worth it?"

"Chido gave me reasons why I should attend, and one of the reasons was that matriculation is always once in a lifetime."

"And so, even if I decide to attend, I don’t have any clothes to wear," I told him.

"That one shouldn’t be a problem. Just chill. I will get you a black blazer and one of my shirts," Chido promised. And it had a way it affected me positively. He was really a good and caring friend. He convinced me.

15 minutes later, the dude was in my lodge with the suit blazer and a blue shirt. It was the first-ever suit I had worn since I was born. It made me look different and more handsome. I wore one of my black trousers and black shoes. A wristwatch too, even though it stopped working a few weeks ago.

Chido jokingly said I looked like Pastor Chris, and we laughed over it. He had succeeded in dragging me out after my initial plan of not going anywhere that day. Meanwhile, he wasn’t wearing a suit, but he wore a new dress. One of his uncles had surprised him after he sent messages to them concerning the matriculation. You remember Chido is an orphan, right? Yeah, he has been surviving through support from friends and relatives.

We boarded a bike together to the main auditorium close to Diamond Bank where the matriculation was taking place; matriculation ground. Chido rushed down to meet with his departmental fellows. He was studying mechanical engineering. I think he is very popular in his department, judging from the way his departmental guys hailed him on his arrival.

I was left alone under a tree adjacent to the main auditorium. I saw some of my course mates taking pictures but I felt shy to join them in the group pictures. I equally saw Cynthia and Jessy on heavy makeup. They saw me too, but nobody said a word to each other.

I was in my lane observing the whole movement here and there, students in matriculation gowns and their parents taking pictures. Cars and buses swooshed past. Different campus fellowship were having their gathering under a canopy. The environment bubbled with several activities.

Later on, I saw Chido taking a picture with a very pretty girl. It was later when he returned to the spot where he had left me, he confessed that the girl was his crush. He said he would keep the hard copy of the picture forever. Silly boy. We both laughed over it.

Chido returned with lots of takeaway rice and malts in his hand. He told me he hustled for them because he knew nobody would come for him. I took one of the takeaway rice from him and saved myself from hunger. It was while I was at it, that Benita came with his parents.

"Meets one of the bright students in our faculty," she blew my trumpet, smiling.

"Good afternoon, ma’am. Good afternoon, Sir." I greeted them and they both responded. Benita’s parents looked rich based on their appearance. I could see her father waving his finger and a car key was on it. I saw Benita’s younger brother behind them. I needed nobody to tell me that he was her brother. He’s just Benita's male version, her complete replica.

In the end, his father gave me two thousand naira and I couldn’t thank him enough. Benita used his phone and we took a selfie, about four shots. She said She would send them later to me. And that happened to be the only picture I took that day. Chico and I even forgot to take pictures together. Because none of us had a phone with a good camera, the Samsung from Benita also had camera issues aside from battery issues.

Chido returned later with more takeaways. I was wowed. The dude really came out to hustle for food and not to matriculate.
Toward 6:00 p.m. we went back to Eziobodo. He kept advertising the way some parents brought a cooler of rice and drinks just because of their kid’s matriculation.

We got back to my lodge and met a package in front of my door. There was a written note attached to it. I quickly picked it up. It was from Benita. When I unboxed it, cake, rice, assorted meat and soft drinks were in it.

“Wow! She brought all these for you. I think that girl loves you,” said Chido. He was excited to see the packages.

“Rich kid, they even did a matric cake for her,” I muttered, but deep down I was overwhelmed with joy. Dinner was set, not only dinner, but the following day's breakfast too. The rice was much.

“As if you don’t like what you see,” Chido teased me.

We happily went inside my room, locked the door, and began with the piece of cake. When Chido tasted the rice, he was wowed. He said he would give out the ones he had gathered earlier. Not a bad day at all.
I called Benita later to appreciate the kind gesture, she said it was nothing. Benita said her parents came with a cooler of rice, a full cake, and drinks and she couldn't exhaust all of that. She also used the opportunity to invite me to her fellowship that coming Sunday. She said more goodies would be shared in church as their fellowship welcomes the new men into campus.

What more could I ask for? Same faculty and the same fellowship. I was ready to change fellowship because of her. Chido compelled me to ask her out but I was skeptical about it. Truth is, I was already falling for her. She melted my heart in a short time and I started developing feelings for her.

It was hard for me to talk to her but, as time went by, I mustered courage to express my feelings. Surprisingly, Benita told me she wasn't ready to have any romantic relationship until she was out of University. I pleaded for a chance with her, I tried just for her to change her mind but she stood her ground.

Benita made it clear that she had feelings for me and wouldn't mind being the mother of my unborn kids, but her decision was certain; no love relationship until after UNIVERSITY.

She offered friendship and I agreed. We became best of friends such that we were nominated as the best couple in the faculty. I did not for once stop telling her that; I needed more than friendship.

Each time I raised this topic, she was quick to remind me of her decision. And if I truly love her, I should be able to respect her decision. We were cool and it became impossible for any of us to date anyone. If I start relating with any lady too much, I'd certainly respond to the query before the end of that week. She didn't want to see me with anyone else, but she wanted us not to date yet.

Xavier5:
Truth is, Frank will end up with Benita, and definitely, there will be a love battle between the trio, but Benita will end up with him. Her sincere feelings for him will have the way through the red Sea of their ambiguous love triangle.

Benita is the one that has feelings --- don't know if I should call that love --- for him. And I know for certain her feelings are genuine. It has nothing to do with potentials. If it was potential, that wouldn't have fit the narrative. For starters, she's a rich bitch, and as a follow-up, there are lots of rich guys to hook up with. Why waste your time on a dude all in the name of "potentials" when you can and should be with guys whose "potentials" are already realities.

Frank may be blind to Benita because of his infatuation with Cynthia, but reality will come knocking... it always does, and he will know what's what in the game of romance.

From the look of things, the message and theme of the story is or could be, "Seeking love in the right place, and this right place is or could be what or who we've rejected. Who we think we want may not be who is right for us."

But anyways, nice story, but don't you think you need to improve on your dialogues and narration. It appears amateurish, a far cry from the standard in your other story, My Husband and I.

#Xavier

Thanks so much for the long review boss.
Talking about the dialogue and narration, remember this story is more like telling about an event from one person's perspective unlike My Husband and I that came in different person's POV.

I'm trying to write what my audience can relate with, it's intentional. I write for my page on Facebook and they are glad I'm using the simplest form of English to narrate. I've seen couple of comments like that over there.

I'm aware I do more of telling instead of showing in this particular story. Yeah, I'm very much aware of that. If peradventure in the future, I intend to publish the story, it would surely go through a thorough editing.

Thank you so much for your observations and your long comment, Xavier.

We keep improving every day.

One love.

All For Love 💘

(Campus Love) 🎓 ❤

Episode 14

So, finally, I'd be going to Cynthia's lodge all because of my intelligence.
I wasn’t sure if Cynthia really liked me the way I cared and had feelings for her. I still felt she was just there for what she would gain. I could tell Benita had a thing for me, but I really didn’t like her that much compared to Cynthia.

That day, I purposely went in the evening because I planned to pass the night. She already sent me the directions to her lodge located at Umuchima. From Eziobodo to Umuchima was less than 15 minutes on a bike. All I needed was to tell the bike man the name of her lodge.

As someone going to a girl’s lodge, not just a girl’s lodge, but his crush's lodge. I wore one of my best wear, a very nice vintage shirt. I had only worn it once to church. Then, coupled with my blue Jean trousers and a black slide, well polished.Thank God I still had my perfume, though it was getting exhausted. I spread it all over my body, making sure I could perceive it.

I was really overwhelmed about going to see her even though the plan was to teach her Mth101, but subconsciously I think something else was boring in my heart.
Ready to go? I took my Mth101 material, one notebook, and a pen. She would provide a rough book for teaching and solving. I also went with my phone charger because I intended to sleep over in her lodge.

When I got outside my lodge, I dialed her number and informed her that I was coming. She said no problem and reminded me of the name of her lodge. It was 4:45 p.m. when I got to Futo Road Eziobodo and waved down a bike man.

"How much, Umuchima?" I asked him.

"Where in Umuchima?" Asked the bike man.

"St. Belarus Lodge."

"Okay, your money is 300 naira," he said.

"What is 300? I will pay 200."

"The last I can go is 250."

I bargained with him to accept 250, but he refused. I was with just a 1000, Naira note, and I didn’t want to waste it just on transport, to and fro. So, I stopped another bike man, but his price was even much way bigger than the previous man. I kept walking until I finally found the third bike. I ended up accepting to pay 250 naira. I didn’t really have much, so I was good at bargaining things in school.

I climbed the bike and we zoomed off on the tarred road filled with potholes here and there. Only God will save Eziobodo from their bad road.

*

On arriving at Cynthia‘s lodge, I stood outside the gate and dialed her number. The name of the lodge was written on it, so I knew I was in the right place. But I needed to be sure.

"Hello Frank, where are you?" She answered in her angelic voice.

"I'm outside your lodge. I’m at the gate."

"Pease, come in, you will see me."

"Okay, hope there is no dog in your lodge. I’m scared of those animals," I said, laughing.

"Come in, there is no dog," she confirmed.

I hung up, turned, and paid the bike man. He gave me my balance and I made my way inside.

As soon as I stepped in, I saw her in light pink trousers and sleeveless. She wore a bra too, so her boobs weren't exposed.

Cynthia signaled me to come over to where she stood, so I headed in her direction majestically with my phone in my left hand and the books in my right hand. I could hear loud music jamming from an unseen stereo. I guess it was coming from one of her lodge mates' room.

"Did you fly?" She asked, smiling.

"The Bike man is one of these Hausa men. You know how they speed like computer games," I answered.

"Welcome," she said and led the way to her room.

"Thank you," I replied, and followed her.

We got into her not-so-big apartment. "Do you stay alone?" That was the most important question I asked, and she replied in the negative. My heart cut.
"But my roommate traveled. She will be back in three days," she announced.

I heaved a sigh of relief hearing that.

"Do you mean Jessy?"

"No." She nodded her head sideways. "Jessy stays in Hostel C. She’s not my roommate."

"Okay, that’s cool," I said and sat on her bed.

Her room wasn’t looking bad, but not compared to Benita's apartment. I’m not sure this girl is from a rich family like I had assumed, I said to myself as I observed my surroundings. For her to even share a room with someone says more about it. She better not be a poor girl because it wouldn’t be funny after all that initial gra gra and ajebo lifestyle, she always pulled in class.

"I’m still cooking beans. When it’s ready, you will have something to eat," she said, walking back to her kitchen.

"Alright, I said," scrolling through my phone.

"No problem, once you are ready. I’m ready."

She brought out an extra plastic seat to her reading table and asked me to join her. I obliged and brought out my material and notebook. So I began by testing her knowledge of the previous topic we did, which was indices and logarithms. I gave her two questions to attempt. Cynthia solved the first one but got stuck at the second one and started laughing. Unknown to her, there was something her laughter did in my body, but I just ignored all those feelings and solved the second question.

"Oh, that’s true," she said when I arrived at the final answer.

"So today we are starting a new topic," I said, scrolling through my Mth101 material.

"Alright, no problem."

"So, let’s consider Real Numbers, Set Theory, and problems of Set Theory."

That was how we began to solve and learn together while the aroma of beans filled the room. At intervals, Cynthia would excuse herself to ceck the food, and probably add more water.

We continued until finally when the food was done. I looked at my phone, it was a few minutes before 6 p.m. It was still a bit bright outside when Cynthia served what I called watery beans. I’m not saying she is not a good chef, but I really didn't like what I ate, but who am I to complain before someone I’ve got feelings for?
Besides, I heard it’s better to tell a woman she’s not good in bed than to tell her she’s a bad cook. I don’t know how true this saying is, but whatever. I pretended to have enjoyed her food.

We had covered something meaningful in Real Numbers and Set Theory, but we weren’t done. Amidst eating, we talked about random topics. I told her Eziobodo was far better than Umuchima, but she insisted Umuchima remains the best off-campus area. She said Eziobodo was always crowded with people and they usually get robbed, unlike Umuchima. I just laughed over it because that was simply her opinion.

Gradually, it was getting dark. Cynthia asked when I would be going that it was getting late. I was disappointed. I already proposed to sleep over since her roommate wasn’t around.

"How about I pass the night here and go tomorrow?" I summoned the courage and asked her.

"Eeeh? You what?" She queried staring unblinking.

"Yeah, tomorrow is Saturday, I'll take my leave."

Cynthia refused. "Guys, don’t sleep over here. That’s what my roommate and I agreed to."

"But she is not around."

"Even though...,"

After much persuasion, she agreed, but on the condition that she would leave the room for me to go and sleep at her friend's place. I was like what? But we can sleep together, your bed is spacious.

"You know what, you will sleep on the floor and I will sleep on the bed," Cynthia insisted.

"Okay, fine." I agreed, even though I wasn’t pleased with such a suggestion.

There was no light, but she got a big rechargeable lamp that illuminated the whole room.

After we talked for a few hours. She went to the bathroom and returned on bum shorts and one red sexy singlet.
I could see the two waist beads on her waist and that got me reacting.
She lay on the bed and gave me a wrapper and a pillow to use on the tiled floor.

We then talked for a few minutes before she slept off, but then I couldn’t sleep. My body was just reacting and restless. I tried my best but no way. I couldn’t sleep. I closed my eyes wandering in thoughts.

Late into the night, I didn’t know what pushed me, I got up and moved closer to her, but still scared to make any funny move. After some moments, I crossed my legs over her and started caressing her boobs. She didn’t react, or say anything. I kept on as my whole system was getting aroused.
Gradually, I made my right hand travel down to her waist in a bid to unhook her bumshort, since she didn’t react all this while.

Boom! She stood up and quickly turned on the rechargeable lamp. Cynthia shunned me and started raising her voice. It was getting embarrassing. It was almost 2:00 a.m. and the whole lodge was calm except for noise from the generator outside. Cynthia kept running her mouth. She said all manner of things.

Damn, I felt like the land should open and swallow me. I bet I never seen that side of her. I was so embarrassed that I stayed up when she eventually got back to sleep.
Then, very early in the morning before she woke up, I flew back to Eziobodo, completely embarrassed and ashamed.

Cynthia, God will punissssh you. 😭

You are doing well OP
Keep unraveling this wonderful story piece by piece. If I could make a wish rn, I would simply wish that Frank and Benita end up together as an item because she truly deserves it unlike the proud Cynthia 🌚🌚

But this thing called love Sha, it is very stupid sometimes😭 Imagine Benita is showing Frank that she loves him but dude is still on Cynthia’s matter.

Lol.. Yeah. Life happens that way.

Thank you for engaging

Episode 21

~ Ckay's POV ~

I was speechless when I saw Ada. I couldn’t even say a word. She was wearing a short tight black dress that reveals her back. I couldn’t even say anything about it. I love it when it is for my eyes only but the idea of her having dinner with me in a restaurant dressing like that could make me go crazy.

She looked so beautiful that it hypnotized me right away. I was out of way and frustrated at the same time.
We were going to the place where I took her on a cozy dinner last time. She said she already booked a table. She insisted that I give the car to the velvet chauffeur because she said looking for a parking lot will be another 15 minutes.

She dragged me inside and we got into the staircase. I leaned my head slowly to her wanting a kiss and she only kissed me on the cheek.

“You are so mean.. today is my birthday, you should give me whatever I want,” I said and she chuckled but still not giving me what I wanted. She took my hand as soon as we were up the building. She told the staff her name and the staff led us inside.

My jaw dropped when I saw my parents and Ada's Dad. They were all sitting at a round table with a cake in the middle. They started to sing “Happy Birthday” songs for me as my Dad lit up the candles. I turned to Ada completely touched.

“Thank you,” I said and she nodded smiling.

“Now, make a wish and blow the candle,” my mom said. I closed my eyes and made the same wish that I asked when Ada surprised me. I opened my eyes again and blew out all the candles.

Ada's Dad hugged me and then my parents hugged me.

“Thanks, Babe,” I kissed Ada on her cheek.

“Wait. Am I missing something?” His Dad asked.

“We're dating,” Ada said and her father looked at her in disbelief.

“Since when?”

“Not long ago,” Ada answered and her Dad smiled.

“I am so happy for you.” He hugged her daughter and then he hugged me again.

“Thank you, Ckay,” he said and I smiled nodding.

We ate dinner and talked a lot thereafter. My parents loved Ada I was glad to see that.
After we ate dinner, Ada's Dad excused himself because he had to go somewhere.

“She’s amazing,” my mom said and I nodded.

“She is.”

“I’m glad that she opened up and I’m so proud of you Ckay,” my Dad said and I nodded.

“I wish your bro is here. I bet he would love Ada too,” I sighed and my mom hugged me.

“He misses you too, and I know he’s congratulating you from up there,” my mom said even though she was choking a little bit.

“Thank you, Mom. You guys can dance to the dance floor,” I said and they giggled.

“Do you want to dance?” I asked as I put my hand out in front of her.

“Before that, I have a present for you,” she said and I was a little nervous and excited. She took out a small box from her bag and gave it to me.

“Open it,” she said and I opened the box slowly. It was a necklace; thin and long. The kind that I liked. Not only that, it has my initials on it too.

“CK for Calvin Klein,” she said jokingly and I laughed.
I patted her head and kissed her cheek.

“Thank you, baby,” I said as I tried to wear it myself. She took the necklace for me and put it on.

“I love it,” I said as I leaned my head wanting to kiss her. She gave me a peck on my lips and I smiled. She took my hand and led me to the dance floor. We started to dance slowly and we both couldn’t stop looking at each other.

“Why are you looking at me like is there something in my teeth?” she asked and I chuckled shaking my head.

“Nothing. Just that you are so beautiful.”

“Happy birthday again, big boy. Stop being annoying and clingy,” she said as she poked my chest.

“You will miss me if I go to Uyo next week,” I smirked and she rolled her eyes.

“Isn’t it the other way round?”

We bought smiled and she leaned her head to my chest. I kissed the top of her head.

“You know I saw a lot of men looking at you.”

“I don’t care,” she said as I looked up at him.

“Do you want to go to the balcony?” she asked suddenly and I nodded. We walk towards the balcony filling the breeze hitting our skin. I gave her a back hug and kissed her unprotected.

“I’m fine,” she said as she took my hand making me face her. She caressed my cheek and smiled as she closed the gap between us. She cupped my face and kissed me. She kissed me slowly and then hugged me. I never received a hug from her before. It was always me who made the move towards her.

I hooked her back tightly and I never wanted anything in my life than that. I felt once comforted and complete. It was like I didn’t need anything anymore.

“You are staying with me tonight.”

“Again?” she asked.

“You need to cuddle me to sleep.”

“You are clingy.”

“Yeah, I am.”

~ Adannaya's POV ~

Today, I have a meeting for casting the actors and actresses for the movie of my first book. I was so excited to do this and yes I will come there as Adannaya not as Ifenkili. I told them that Ifenkili trusted me to see the casting process, so they won’t be suspicious.

Meanwhile, Ckay was in Uyo, having an important meeting, and it was already three days. He said he would come back home in the evening, and yes, I was excited. I missed him actually, even though I didn’t tell him that. We talked every night and it was cool.

Having a relationship it’s fun but I still had my walls up. I felt like I was starting to change and I kinda like it. I never regretted when I said yes to Ckay; to be his girlfriend, but I was still giving a little distance because you will never know. I still don’t want to fully surrender to him.

I walked into the building and I met the director Peter Omori. He was super nice and he was like a man in his 20s with jokes when the reality is that he was in his 40s. He introduced me to three other people who were in charge of casting the actors and the actresses.

Ada, I want you to meet the producer, Dike James. My eyes widened when Peter mentioned his name. I turned my head to him and he smiled at me. I looked at him coldly and pretended to shake his hand like it was our first meeting.
“She’s actually my friend, Dike said.

“Really? Well, I guess we’ll get along well,” Peter said and I just smiled at him politely.

“We will start in 20 minutes everyone,” Dorathy who was in charge of casting said.

“Can I have a word with you, Ada?” Dike asked and I nodded lightly. He led me outside the building.

“You are Ifenkili, aren't you?” he asked and I looked up to him coldly.

“Look, Dike, you and I will only talk about work here and I will not answer any question related to other things than work. If you think trying to be friends with me again in this project, burst those bubbles because we won’t. I hissed coldly and he sighed.

“Since when did you become this m@d? This is not you.”

“Things change, Dike. I’m Ada that you used to know. I’m different now.

“Ada, it’s complicated. I had no choice.”

“You could have explained to me a month after that or maybe a year after you left, but why now? It’s been seven years and my life was ruined, Dike. Someone is helping me to heal now and I don’t need you to come back into my life just to ruin it again,” I busted angrily, and walked back inside.

My phone vibrated and I took it out of my pocket. It was Ckay and I couldn’t help but smile. “I will see you in six hours.” I read his message aloud.

I walked inside and we started the casting process. I saw all the actors and actresses that came for the audition, and I saw one actress that might suit the story and her name is Cynthia. She was part of the actress that made waves in the industry in recent years, and she is a definition of a goddess.

Actors and actresses came in and auditioned for the movie but I didn’t seem to find someone suited to play the main character in my novel.

Next was Stan Ike. He was pretty suitable to play the supporting role of the main character.

“Should we take a break for 30 minutes? It’s been three hours and we still have two more hours Dike suggested because some actors were yet to arrive at the venue.

“Should we?” Dorothy asked.

“Yeah, let's take a break.” I got up from my seat and took a bottle of water that they bought. I walked out of the building and drank all the chilled water quickly. It was so frustrating to be in that room full of people for hours.

My phone suddenly rang, while I was taking it out..

“Hey, wanna grab something to eat together?” Dike asked. And I turned to him for a second before answering my phone.

“Hello.”

“Hey, babe. What are you doing?” He asked and I looked at the time.

“Aren’t you supposed to be on your flight?” I asked because he said he was going to arrive in Calabar around 3 p.m.

“Turn to your right.”

I quickly turned my body and I saw Ckay. He was waving at me with a bouquet. I smiled widely and ran to him. I hugged him tightly and he laughed.
“You miss me that much?” he asked and I didn’t answer that because I bet he knew that I miss him so much by my action.

“I thought you were going to arrive here around 6. How did you know I’m here?”

I asked Nelo and I wanted to surprise you. I’ve missed you. 3 days is pretty long,” he said and I nodded.

I released the hug and he leaned his face to me kissing me.
“Are you still working? he asked.

“We have a 30-minute break, and yes, I still have two hours to go.”

“What is the meeting about?” he asked.

“Casting for a future movie project,” I said and he nodded.

“Here is a beautiful flower for you my lady,” he smirked as he gave me the flower. I smiled and took it from him.

“Thank you. It's beautiful.

“Can I get a….,” he said as he pointed at his lips.

I chuckled and gave him a peek on his lips.
“I still have work ongoing, but it’s going to be more than two hours,” I said and he patted my head nodding.

“It's Okay. Do you want me to wait or…?”

“I will just see you later tonight,” I said.
“What’s with that guy? He kept looking at you,” Ckay asked and I turned to see Dike looking at me.

“He's…. Dike.”

“Dike? The one you told me,” Ckay busted.

“Yeah, but it’s Okay. I told him that we can’t be friends anymore,” I said trying to calm Ckay down.

“But still… what is he doing here?”

“He is the producer and I didn’t know. I didn’t check the lists…”

“Can I stay here with you?”

“You are tired. Aren’t you?” I asked.

“I am tired, but you will pay for it tonight. You’ll cuddle me to sleep,” he said and I chuckled.

“Okay, fine. You can stay here but you’ll wait in the waiting room,” I said and he nodded.

“Okay,” I said and took his hand to grab something to eat.

Episode 13

Chido stood shocked at the door, embarrassed that he didn’t knock before coming in.

“I'm sorry, bro,” he apologized. Benita and I already separated ourselves. She felt embarrassed and shy. Unable to withstand the shame and guilt, she took her leave in the silent room.

Chido and I stared at each other for some seconds.

“So you can’t even knock?” I broke the short silence that stood between us.

“Guy no vex abeg, I thought she was gone already,” he apologized.

“And so what? Even if she has gone, it doesn’t mean anything. You are still supposed to knock before you come in.”

“I’ve said I’m sorry naa. Or do you want me to kneel for you?”
I headed straight to the kitchen.

“No, wait, let me put the food myself before you po!son me,” Chido said jokingly and busted into laughter.

“You are mād. Who is even laughing with you? If I want to k!ll you, it’s very easy,” I replied.

“You are mād. Who is even laughing with you? If I want to k!ll you, it’s very easy,” I replied.

“Frank, you can’t. You know I can always predict you, so you can’t,” he boasted.

I insisted on dishing out the food while he stayed at my back and watched me. I turned and gave him the food on a ceramic plate. We both walked to the room.

“But Frank, you are a bad boy,” he taunted me after he sat to eat.

“I’m not. You are just mannerless.” I taunted him back.

“Okay, yes, I agree to be mannerless. Can you also agree you’re a bad boy too?” He ate one spoonful and waited for my response.

“I’m a good boy, not a bad boy,” I insisted.

“You’re a very good, bad boy. I thought you don’t like Benita?” he continued, talking and eating.

“That's your business.”

“Wow, this food is very tasty. I’m sure you are not the one that made it because you can never cook something as tasteful as this,” Chido continued to mock me.

“At least I’m far better than you. Can you even boil ordinary hot water?” I replied.

“And who says you are better? Don’t worry, one of these days I will surprise you.”

“Joke of the century,” I said.

By the time Chido was done eating, it was twilight. I saw him off and returned to my lodge. I hastily put some rice on a plastic takeaway pack and set off to Benita's Lodge.

I got there in less than 10 minutes. I met a few of her lodge mates outside. I greeted them before heading towards her door. I had knocked twice before Benita opened the door. She didn’t say a word as we walked inside her spacious room.

“Seems you are reading,” I asked, seeing her book pied up on her mattress.

“Not really, It’s just an assignment,” she answered. There was something about her voice. Too cold and unlike her. And I thought I knew why.

“I’m sorry about Chido's action. He is one hell of a crazy friend. I’m truly sorry about the embarrassment,” I apologized, still standing with the food in my hand.

“Frank, it’s okay. I never knew the door was not locked,” she replied.

“Yeah, same here. I never knew it was not locked, too, but that’s by the way. I brought the rice for you,” I said, stretching out to her.

“Oh, thank you very much. That was thoughtful of you. I even forgot I cooked at your place,” she collected it and walked towards her kitchen.

I liked how spacious her room was and not just the room, but the kitchen too.

“This is very nice,” she said, complimenting her own food.

“Yeah, you’re a good chef. Let’s open a restaurant here in Eziobodo,” I replied jokingly.

“You and who? Won’t you have your seat? Are you a military man?” She queried in one breath.

Gosh, she was lovely. Her face was glowing and makeup free, her hair was packed in a tight bun and she sat on her bed eating the jellof rice.

“Don’t mind me,” I said as I finally sat on a plastic chair at the corner and decided to look away from her face, but found my legs drawn to her silky smooth legs.

“Is there anything wrong? She queried. You’ve been mute and face down,” she added.

“Nothing. I was just thinking about some stuff. So tell me about yourself.”

*

As we talked, I found out quite a few things about Benita. She was the third in a family of five. She hails from Abia State, but her parents live in Lagos.

“So, why did you choose FUTO of all universities in Nigeria?” I asked her furthering the conversation.

“Um, I think I choose this school based on….”

Before she could finish the sentence, the door was flung open and a girl burst into the room carrying two big shopping bags and tottering dangerously on high heels. She had her phone clutched in her fist and her bag in the other hand.

“Hey Benny,” she thrilled. She flopped on her mattress, dropping the two bags by her feet on the tiled floor and her handbag on the bed. She was a tall, slim girl. I guess her light compression must have come off her expensive cream because other parts of her body weren’t that light.

“Hi,” she said to me, and I replied with a "Hello."

I remembered her face from the birthday party.

“Chizzy what’s with the disappearing act? You didn’t tell me you weren’t going to spend the night,” you just disappeared, Benita said and paused.

“I’m sorry Benny, but it’s not my fault. Gosh, I’m so tired. My boyfriend took me out,” she replied.

“Osheeyy! Lover girl,” Benita cheered her.

“Did I stop you from loving?”

“I never see man,” replied Benita jokingly as they both laughed.

I tried switching off my mind from the conversation. I wasn’t really interested in what Chizzy was saying about her outing. I found my mind wandering to Benita for the umpteenth time. I wondered if she romantically liked me. I couldn’t imagine a girl like her being single. She’s got the shape and she’s quite rich, too, based on my observation.

Moments later, Chizzy was leaving. She gave Benita one of the packages from her shopping bag. And she did appreciate her kind gesture.

“We will talk later, Benny, I have to go now,” she said sweetly.

“Alright, see you later.” Benita went to her wardrobe and returned to stand before me.

“Frank, here is the phone. Just manage it till you get a new one,” she handed it to me.

“Wow, I can’t believe this. This is Samsung.”

“Yeah, but it has a little issue. The battery doesn’t last long,” she said.

“Alright. I will manage it. Thank you so much for this. I do not take it for granted,” I turned the phone in admiration.

“It’s fine. I want to see someone. We’ll see sometime in school, maybe tomorrow,” she said checking herself out in the mirror.

“Alright,” I replied as we headed towards her door.

I left Benita's apartment feeling excited.

*

The next day, as I was preparing for school, I already made up my mind to do a SIM welcome back and connect all my social media accounts.

I got to class late. The hall was already filled up but the lecturer wasn’t in class yet. As usual, the hall was noisy. Cynthia and I haven’t communicated ever since she told me to call her. There was no way I could have done that. I didn’t want to see her as well until I welcomed back my SIM and found a way to get her number from our departmental group chat.
So, I sat in the back seat and bent down my head as we anticipated the lecturer’s arrival.

He came in about 15 minutes later and I raised my head. He began by describing how woefully the class performed in the Mth101 test. According to him, only a few persons did extremely well.

Surprisingly, this man called me out. He already knew me as one of the students who interacted with him during lectures, and he knew my name, too.
All eyes were on me as I walked down to the stand where the man stood. He recommended me to all the students after praising my performance and that of a few others. And right there, my eyes fell on Cynthia, beside her was her friend Jessy. They were sitting together in the front seat.

The lecturer eventually asked me to return to my seat as we did corrections on the 15-question test. He emphasized that some of the questions would still come out in our exam.

As soon as the class ended, I was quick to rush out of Sosc extension to get to the MTN office at the SEET roundabout to retrieve my SIM. But I was still at the staircase when Cynthia called my attention from behind.

Damn! I turned to face her. She must have been monitoring me.

“Where are you running to? What happened to your phone? You haven’t replied to my text on WhatsApp,” She asked in one breath.

“Erm, erm,” I stammered.

“Cynthia it’s a long story.”

She walked down to where I stood and we continued to walk down the stairs.

“But that’s a phone in your hand,” she continued.

The pressure was biting much, so I told her the truth as we approached the MTN office. Though I didn’t go into details, I only told her I was attacked after attending a friend’s birthday party.

“So whose phone is this?” She continued to ask.

“A friend gave me her old phone for the moment.”

“Wow, a girl did so? That’s so nice of her. That means you lied to me the other day,” she recalled.

“I’m sorry. I wasn’t proud of the incident, so I didn’t know what to tell you.”

We got to the stand. There was a dark young girl who was inside the yellow, MTN yellow plastic kiosk. I told her why I came, and she gave me a form to fill out and told me it cost 1000 Naira. I collected the white paper, filled in the details, and returned it with a thousand naira note.

While she was filling the information in her system, Cynthia and I stood by, waiting for her. Then, some girls approached me, about five of them.

“Hey, hi,” they greeted.

I responded with a wave and smile.

“Franklin, right?”

“Yeah,” I said.

“Please, we are sorry to disturb you, but there is something we want to ask of you,” said one of them.

“Okay, go on,” I told them.

“I don’t know if you can assist us, maybe in your free time, if you can tutor us this Mth101 maybe after class or one of your free days,” said one of the girls. And the rest nodded their heads. None of their faces seemed familiar. I guess they were either in BCH, BTC, or BIO Department.

“Erm, I can’t promise anything now, but I’ll try. Let’s see how it goes.”

“Alright, thank you.”

At the end, they asked for my contact and left. Mehnn, none of them were looking bad. They were endowed both front and backside. You understand what I mean right?

Winks.

Hope this lecture won’t get me into trouble with this exposure.

“Everyone is asking for your contacts now,” said Cynthia, And I could smell jealousy in her voice.

"It was the lecturer’s handwork. They now see me as the second version of Chike Obi the mathematician."

There at the MTN stand, the lady finally gave me a new SIM pack and told me to insert it on my phone after 12 hours, that’s when it will start working.

“Frank, I want us to have another Mth101 tutorial,” Cynthia said as we left the place.

“Oh really?”

“Yeah, but this time I won’t be coming to your lodge. It’s your turn to come to my lodge,” She said.

“OK, that’s not a problem. Now let’s see how it goes. But you’ll have to cook something shaa.”

“You too like food.”

We both giggled.

Episode 20

~ Adannaya's POV ~

About Ckay’s birthday, actually, his mom texted me. She asked me if I could help her surprise her son. I was surprised that his birthday was tomorrow. So, I asked my assistant to help me buy a cake. She already put it in my fridge and all I have to do now is go down to my apartment.

“Where do you think you’re going?”

“I forgot something and I have to go to my apartment,” I said as I slipped away from his arms. He was currently watching Game of Thrones that I have no clue about.

“Ada…you're not going up like that!” he stopped me and I realized that I only wore his T-shirt and my underwear. He got up and walked to his closer. He threw me his hoodie and sweatpants. I put it all on and walked out of his room. I quickly walked out of his apartment and went up to my apartment. When I walked into my apartment, I quickly took out the cake and left.

As I walked down the stairs, I tried to take out the cake. I put the cake on the box and carried it in my left hand. I then pressed the doorbell and waited for Ckay to come out. My heartbeat raised. I was so nervous and it was my first time surprising someone. He did a lot of things for me and this was the least I could do.

“You are fas…,” his eyes widened when he saw me with a cake. He opened the door wide enough for me to enter and I started to sing ”Happy Birthday, Ckay. Make a wish and blow out the candles.”

“When did you get this?” He asked as I walked toward the kitchen.

“A secret,” I said and took out the knife from the drawer, giving it to him so he could cut the cake.

“Thank you,” he kissed my forehead and I nodded. He cut the cake and took out 2 small plates for us to eat. I sat on the table and took Ckay's hand. I pulled him towards me and crashed my lips to him.

“Happy birthday,” I said and he smiled widely.

He leaned me again but I quickly took a small amount of whipped cream from the cake and smudged it on his face.

“Hey!” He protested and I chuckled. I cupped his face and ate the whipped cream on his cheek.

“Thanks, babe,” he said once again and he gave me a big piece of cake.

“This is so good,” I said with my mouthful of cake. We ate the cake and put the leftovers in the fridge. We walked back to his room and he continued to watch his Game of Thrones.

I sat beside him trying to figure out what to buy for his birthday present. Usually, it's always about me but not about him. I sat up straight and turned to him. I took off the hoodie because it was hot and poked his arm.

“Is everything okay?” he asked me as he paused the movie.

“Tell me about yourself,” I said and he turned to me not understanding.

“Tell me about yourself… what you like. What you don’t like,” I said and he chuckled.

“What is it for?

I mean all this time you’re trying to get to know me, but I never cared about you. So, I’m trying to know you,” I said and he turned off the TV. He sat up straight like me and smiled.

“What do you want to know?”

“Let’s start with the basic question. What is your favorite food?” I asked

“Fried rice and salad.”

“Your favorite drink?”

“Heineken.”

“Uhmm….what else, your favorite brand?”

“Not a fan of specific brands. If I see what I like now, I buy it,” he said and I nodded as I was writing it down.

“Your football club?”

“The blues… Chelsea!” he smiled.

“Okay. How about a car?”

“Any car that is normal.”

“What? you are weird,” I said chuckling.

“Next, what do you want now?” I asked and I was ready to write it down on my phone.

“Are you trying to get me a birthday present?” He asked and I looked up to him.

“Rewind to 10 seconds ago, just pretend that you didn’t ask that,” I said and he laughed.

“What do you want now?” I asked again and he kept on laughing. I looked at him annoyed and smacked his arm.

“Answer the question,” I hissed and he chuckled.

“I want you, baby,” he looked at me winking and I looked at him ready to smack him with a pillow.

“Answer the question or I will sleep upstairs.”

“Fine…fine. I want to spend the day with you.”

“I mean a thing… a thing,” I said and he pouted.

“It's my birthday. Why are you being so mean to me?” He asked and I sighed.

I was going to smack him but he immediately grabbed my hands.

“I seriously don’t need anything,” he said.

“Fine…if that’s what you want,” I said.

“Really? That’s it.”

“Yeah. I nodded.”

“Okay,” he said in a sad tone.

He sat back again and turned on the TV. I took off the sweatpants and threw them to the ground. I sat beside him and tried to poke him but he was ignoring me.

“Ckay!”

“Leave me.”

“OK then,” I said and took his hand but he was still ignoring me. I put his hand on my thigh slowly going up, I felt his hands tense and I knew I was winning this battle. Try not to ignore me Ckay, you will never win.

“Still not working? I will just go back to my apar..,” before I could finish my sentence, Ckay trapped me with his body. He looked at me dangerously and I smirked.

“Can’t believe you are a naughty girl,” Adannaya.

~ Adannaya's POV ~

I just finished a meeting to finalize everything, and I was ready to go find Ckay’s birthday gifts. I’m still trying to figure out what to give him, but I decided to go to the mall. Maybe an idea will come out later on.

I drove my car towards the mall and tonight Ckay and I will have dinner with his parents. Ckay wasn’t surprised about his parent. I just told him that we were going to have dinner. They invited my dad too, and he still had no clue that Ckay and I were dating.

I got off the car after parking it and was ready to explore the mall to find the perfect birthday gift for him. I started to look around to find something, then my eyes landed on a wallet and I walked into the store. Before I could ask about it, someone poked me. I turned to see Dike.

My body went numb that second and all I wanted to do that second was to p*nch him.

“Hey, Adannaya, long time no see,” he said smiling like nothing was happening between us. I ignored him and turned back to the wallet.

“Ada, can we talk?” Dike asked and I ignored him again.

“Hey, it’s been seven years,” he said and that made me so m@d. I turned to him and gestured to him to follow me. I walked to the nearest Starbucks and brought a drink for myself, before sitting down outside and facing the person that I didn’t want to see the most.

“How are you?” he asked.

“I know you are not blind,” I said coldly. I looked at him completely not amused that he was in front of me.

“I know it’s been seven years and it’s too late to apologize, but I’m sorry,” he said looking at me seriously and I saw it.

“If you are sorry, don’t talk to me again. Don’t look for me and let’s act like you and I are strangers,” I hissed coldly.

“Ada, I’m sorry. I know it’s too late to explain, but I have my reasons.

“You had your chances, Dike. I don’t want to see you again,” I said as I got up from my seat. He stopped me by standing in front of me preventing me from going.

“Give me a chance, Ada.”

“No.”

“My mom passed away and you left me. I have had trust issue for seven years. Dike don’t you dare ask me for a chance when you knew that I needed you the most. At that time, you should have come back to me and explained but you didn’t,” I said angrliy at him.

“I’m sorry.”

“Now, I’m starting to have my life back, so don’t you dare try to ruin it by walking into my life again,” I hissed and my phone suddenly rang.

“Ada, please.”

“No, Dike. Seven years is too late,” I said and I walked past him.

I answered the phone without looking at the caller.

“Hello.”

“Hey sis, where are you? It's Kings.

“I’m at the mall.”

“Huh? What are you doing there?” he asked.

“Just strolling around, looking for something.”

“I’m free for lunch. Want to have lunch together?”

“You are coming tonight, right?” I asked.

“No, I can’t. I have to go to Lagos because I have an emergency meeting in the morning.”

“Okay, what do you want to eat?” I asked.

“Usually, our favorite place. I will see you there.”

“Okay. On my way,” I said as I walked towards my car.

I got inside and drove out from the mall.

How dare he ask for a chance after seven years? He had that chance and I waited for him for so long but he never came. He lost his chance and I don’t want him to come into my life again.

I met my brother at the restaurant and he knew that I wasn’t feeling good, so he didn’t ask me a lot of things. He didn’t force me to tell him everything and I was so glad that he didn’t ask too much. I just needed time alone to process about Dike.

“I’m dating,” I said and Kings dropped his spoon. I looked up to him and he looked at me like I was turning into a hawk or something.

“What! You are dating now. Who?”

“Ckay,” I said and he choked right away.

“Since when?”

“A few days now.”

“Is he treating you well?” he asked and I nodded.

“He does and I always feel bad that I don’t really express my feelings that much, and I’m still a little bit awkward in everything,” I said.

“Ada, I’m happy for you and besides if you are happy, then I’m happy. Do you like him or you are dating him just because you want to challenge yourself to change?” he asked and there was a moment of silence.

“I think I do, he’s great and he never seems to give up on me, but it’s still hard for me to adapt. It's my first time and I don’t know if I’m doing okay or not,” I said honestly.

“Relationship is about give and take Ada. He can’t always give you and shower you with love but you have to do the same for him, you understand?”

“I get it. You’re a good husband,” I hissed and he laughed.

I’m so proud of you for trying new things and challenging yourself. You are doing great and I’m so happy for you,” he said and I smiled.

“Thanks.”

“If he hurts you, let me know. I will k!ll him and feed him to the crocodiles.

“Alright, I will.”

We laughed out loud.

Episode 12

I got home that day worried and confused about what to do. I badly missed my phone already. All the important documents were gone and so many other things I had stored in it.

I lay on my bed facing the ceiling. All I did was regret my actions the previous night.

Moments later, I overheard someone banging on my door. It was unusual for someone to do that. Who could be doing this? There was only one person in my mind. Chido. He was the only person who could be that noisy.

"Who is there?" I screamed angrily.

"Mr. Man open your door," came his voice.

I thought as much. I stood up and reached for the door.

"Do you want to break the door?" I asked him.

"I brought back your slide," he said when I opened the door.

"Okay," I replied lamely and walked back to the bed.

He reached the corner he picked it up earlier and dropped it.

"How far, have you tried calling your phone?" He asked.

"Yeah, I used a friend’s phone, but it kept saying switched off, so I got tired," I answered him.

"I wish they had at least given you your SIM card," he sympathized.

"I honestly don’t know what to do. I’m expecting money from home and who knows if they have tried calling me," I said and paused.

There was a short silence between us.

"Chill, don't think much about it, my guy," Chido said, trying to cheer me up. But it didn’t work because my mind kept drifting to those horrible scenes of last night.

"I have to go now. I’ve got something to attend to," Chido said standing to leave.

"Alright, no problem," I answered without looking at his direction.

"Don’t let it weigh you down. Just believe another phone will come your way and a better one," he said confidently like he a prophet.

Chido left and jammed the door.

*

As soon as he left, I felt my stomach rumbling. I needed to eat something. Snacks and Pepsi from Cynthia had been the only thing I tasted. And it was approaching 4:00 p.m. already.

I got up to find something I would cook. I hadn’t been cooking for days because my gas was exhausted. So, I took the gas cylinder to a gas station and got it refilled. After which I bought some ingredients to prepare jellof rice. I headed back to my lodge.

On arriving back, I met the unexpected. Chido and Benita were standing at my door. They probably must have been waiting there for minutes.

What's she doing in my apartment? And why is Chido back? I thought he said he had something important to catch up with.

I walked slowly as I approached them, making sure I wasn’t looking at their faces.

Benita coughed when I got to the door.

"Welcome chief," Chido said jocularly.

"I thought you said you have something important to catch up with?"

"Open your door first," he said in a commanding tone.

I still don’t understand what these two want from me this time, at least for the records, I lost my phone because of them. Yes, it was all their fault, I said to myself.

I unlocked the door without saying a word to Benita.

They followed me in. I went straight to the kitchen and dropped the gas cylinder and other foodstuff I bought.

When I returned to the room, the duo were already sitting on my bed. Benita was scrolling through her phone. I sat quietly at my reading chair resting my arms on the plastic table.

"Frank," Benita said, breaking the short silence.

"Yeah," I answered lamely.

"C'mon, cheer up. I understand exactly how you feel. Chido told me about your predicament. He already told me everything that happened after you guys left that morning. Please, I’m really sorry about what happened. I’m sorry about your phone. I can only imagine the pain of losing one's phone. I know it hurts and you must be feeling terrible now, Benita said and paused.

"It's fine. I’m sorry about my attitude as well. Sorry, I was a bit drunk," I added.

"Yeah, I think you were but it’s fine. I’ve gotten over all that happened last night, but hearing that you lost your phone really hurts me. I came here with Chido because I felt you might be hysterical at me or something, she said.

"Chief, I need to go now. Keep my food when you cook," Chido alarmed. He got up from the bed, walked to where I sat, shook my hand, and whispered incoherent words to my ear. I didn’t hear exactly what he said, but I heard something like; 'Have fun and don’t make her feel bored."

He bid goodbye to Benita and left.

"Frank, I’m truly sorry. Trust me, I realized my mistakes too. It was a birthday bash and I was carried away by the fun." She apologized for overreacting last night. She kept giving me a sorry look and didn’t say anything further.

"You guys took the game too far. It was my first time," I confessed.

"Oh really? You’ve never done truth-or-dare before?" She queried, astonished.

"Yeah, I’m serious. Never done it before."

"Oh, no wonder you were....," She paused.

"I was what?" I asked, looking into her eyes.

"No, nothing, never mind," she giggled.

I just smiled sheepishly.

"Those your friends weren’t helping matters too," I said.

"Don’t mind those b!tches. They are weird and crazy," she said.

"It seems you want to cook something?" Benita asked, changing the topic of our discussion.

"Yeah, I want to prepare Jollof rice," I answered.

"Okay, how about I do the cooking for you if you don’t mind?" She gladly requested.

I remembered how she garnished the noodles she prepared the other day and the one she prepared for her birthday, too. I didn’t hesitate to nod my head, affirmatively.

"How do you want it? Concortion or normal jello rice?"

"Normal jellof rice, the whole ingredient is available," I replied.

"Okay."

Benita stood up and headed towards my kitchen. She wore a colorful gown just a bit above her knees. I didn’t expect that she would come begging for forgiveness. Or maybe perhaps because I lost my phone in the process.

Remember Cynthia asked you to call her, came a voice in my head. Damn! There was no way I could achieve that. If I had her number offhand, it would have been better. I would use someone else's phone. What do I tell her tomorrow? Another lie? How long would I keep doing this? I eventually made up my mind that I was going to tell her the truth if I met her in class the next day.

*

I was seated on my reading chair, eyes on my jotter while Benita was in the kitchen. We talked about different things; school life, things that happened at her birthday party, and stuffs like that.

Not long the aroma of the jellof rice filled the room. It was giving and inviting that I couldn’t wait to test her food. I was salivating already. I had opportunities to taste her food on two different occasions but didn't. Chido confused me the last time at the birthday party.

After some minutes, Benita announced the food was ready. I felt relieved. I personally went to the kitchen and dished the food on a big ceramic plate.

"Let’s eat together," I told her, but she said it was too hot for her to eat. It was 5:30 p.m. when I looked at the wall clock. She was just busy scrolling through her phone, smiling at intervals while I kept devouring my food hungrily.

"Are you going to wait till the food gets cold before you eat?" I broke the short silence after I was done eating.

"Not sure I’ll eat it here, I might just take it home," she said.

"Why?"

"I'm not even hungry yet."

"Okay, if you say so."

I joined her in the bed since I was tired of sitting on the plastic chair. She was sitting at the edge while I was sitting, relaxed, and leaned my back on the wall.

"So, Frank, do you have plans of getting a new phone soon?" Benita questioned.

"Oh no, I don’t have enough money for a new phone for now. I’m expecting money from home though, but it’s for something else," I answered.

"Oh, okay, I understand. It’s fine," she said, still backing me, pressing her phone.

"How about I give you my old phone for the moment till you get a new one?"
Benita said. And I was utterly speechless.

"Are you serious? Tell me you are joking."

"I’m not joking," she smiled. "I’m only imagining how you will cope without a phone in this school where you need steady information to survive," she added.

"Wow, I don’t mind, even if it’s a small phone, as long as I can make a call with it for now, I will be fine."

"It’s actually a smartphone, so you can as well connect on social media," she said to my comfort.

I felt really happy and overwhelmed by Benita's kind gesture. I couldn’t contain my joy. I hugged her excitedly from behind. And my hand mistakenly touched one of her boobs. I felt mixed feelings of pleasure and overwhelming guilt.

"Can you hold me from behind like that?" Came Benita with a bedroom voice.

She needed comfort, and if holding her was enough comfort, why would I deny her after promising to give me her old phone? Unable to say a thing or resist, I kept my hands on her cleavages. The only thing around me was tension. My hands on her huge breasts gave me goosebumps.

Amidst dubiety in my mind. She dropped her phone. She drew my hands down to her belly and up again to hold her boobs.

I couldn’t think of anything other than feel her sweet cologne. I was too weak to resist and trust me, this felt really good. I hadn’t felt that way in forever.

She finally summoned the courage to face me, so she turned. This time her boobs were rubbing my chest because we both sat on the bed and crossed our legs

"Should we go to my lodge and get the phone?" She asked. I just shook my head affirmatively. Believe me, I was so drunk and engrossed in the pleasure that I couldn’t talk much. She was caressing my body this time.

"You will like the phone. It’s a Samsung product," she said.

I smiled. She gave me a wink.

"Where is my rice?" Chido barged in without knocking.

F*ck, I was so embarrassed. Disappointment, guilt, and anger choked me at his sudden appearance intruding on my privacy.
