Jennyoral: Following Peter Obi's viral post, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recorded a surge in the online registration exercise No fewer than 69,376 Nigerians completed their online pre-registration within the first seven hours of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) reopening INEC national commissioner and chairman, information and voter education committee, Sam Olumekun, confirmed this in a statement issued and shared further details.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reported a remarkable surge in voter registration ahead of the 2027 general elections. INEC recorded an impressive 69,376 registrants within just seven hours of launching the online pre-registration phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise on Monday, August 18, 2025.
As reported by The Nigerian Tribune, this significant turnout coincided with a viral social media post by Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, which appears to have galvanised public interest in the electoral process. The online registration portal, which went live at 8:30 am on the same day, is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at the official INEC website, providing a convenient platform for eligible Nigerians to participate in the democratic process.
Sam Olumekun, INEC’s national commissioner and chairman, information and voter education committee, confirmed this in a statement on Monday, August 18. “The portal went live at 8.30 a.m., and by 3.30 p.m., 69,376 Nigerians had already pre-registered online,” he said. Breakdown of the registrants Total registrants: 69,376 Male: 33,803 (48.7%) Female: 35,573 (51.3%) Young persons (18–34 years): 48,033 (69.2%) Olumekun said the voter registration portal is accessible 24 hours daily. There is no evidence that Peter had anything to do with voter registration, why add him to this post? Why not just focus on what's verifiable? i.e that voter registration on the portal is thriving for now |

seunmsg: As usual, the press is trying to misrepresent the court judgement. The high court struck out the matter in-line with the Judgement of the Supreme Court that clearly states that courts lack the jurisdiction to entertain issues relating to the internal affairs of Political Parties and nothing else.
Even though INEC filed an affidavit claiming Abure’s tenure has expired, the commission also clearly stated that the party has no recognized national chairman and Secretary that the commission can relate with. By implication, INEC has not recognized both Abure and Nenadi Usman. I thought as much, found it weird that a lower court will give a counter rule on something the supreme Court already decided on |

RevenuesBoost: She even wanted me to give the wedding dress to her so she'll use it as a sample in her shop and I already agreed to give it to her but my husband disagreed.
His reasons were, "a wedding dress is a very Sacred, Symbolic and Significant part of your life, you can't just give it out". He went further to say, it's wrong to borrow wedding gowns or dresses to perform your wedding ceremony. Many women in cities make this sacred mistake of renting wedding gowns or wedding attires from rental stores, because they feel that the wedding event is just for a day. Many homes have been broken because of this sacred ignorance. I immediately understood and picked up the sense in the message he was trying to pass across.
In all my cheerfulness, I had to disappoint my sister and explain to her that my husband needed me to keep the marriage gown, for my daughters to see and learn that marriage is worth waiting for and worth-while with the right person.
We went further to say how I could create a Business Model around sales of Customized, Stylish and Cost Effective (Very Affordable) Wedding Gowns. Wedding gown has absolutely nothing to do with the happiness and life of the marriage. |

Kaliningrad: Ukraine is thought to hold 10 per cent of the world’s reserves of lithium, used in the production of batteries.
Two of its largest lithium deposits are in areas held by Russia, and Putin has staked his claim to the valuable minerals found in the regions his forces occupy.

Lifestylecom: Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has clarified that the appointment of Fuji star Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, as an “ambassador for airport security protocol” will not come with any pay or privileges.
Keyamo, in a post on his X handle, explained that the role is akin to community service, often given to repentant offenders to publicly advocate against the same misconduct they committed.
“It is not paid for, and it is a voluntary service,” the minister said, adding that it is common practice worldwide and has precedent in Nigeria.
The Federal Government had earlier reduced KWAM 1’s indefinite flight ban to one month and withdrawn criminal complaints against him following his public apology over the August 5 incident at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, where he allegedly blocked a moving aircraft and assaulted an airport official.
The decision sparked criticism over perceived double standards, especially as another passenger, Comfort Emmanson, had been detained over “unruly” behaviour on an Ibom Air flight. Emmanson was later released after charges were withdrawn.
https://voicenews.com.ng/kwam-1s-airport-ambassador-role-is-voluntary-says-aviation-minister/ Hehehehe, I kinda knew the tough stance initially shown by keyamo on kwam's incidence was just for show. Imagine reducing an already short 6 months to 1 month kukuma just lift the ban entirely na. |

See pictures of High Level Underpass, Makurdi and underpass at Gyado Junction, Gboko I truly hope this is an unfinished job because where are the guardrails to stop people from falling over? Also, his main challenge is the security of his constituents, until that is tackled, he and FG remain failures for me. *Modified* I think I see some guardrails, I'm guessing the pictures were taken at different times during the construction. AndroBlaze: The main issue seems to be that MTN especially uses a foreign firm (south African of course) to provide the airtime loans to customers, so really when you take an airtime loan from MTN Nigeria it is an SA firm actually loaning you the airtime and sharing profit with MTN.
I am guessing the law they want to pass will make it mandatory for TELCOS to use Nigerian firms to backup the loans, which of course is better for us as a nation. Thank you. I had no idea airtime loans were that much of a thing tho, I thought they were talking about cash loan apps and wondered how telcos came into the picture, nice explanation brother. |
