TammieT: Please how are you guys coping. I am getting really tired and frustrated. Praying for this visa thing and now will have to be praying about my marriage. Our communication is now becoming something else cos of this distance. It isn't really easy at all. Try to facetime everyday mostly in the evening when your spouse is home. You can face time when he/she cooks, eats or even when ironing. Your spouse can take you on a walk and show you the environs in the evening on a weekend. Never allow a day pass without face timing. There should be no gap in communication at all no matter how short the discussion/time frame is. It hasn't been easy either. I am mentally stressed and frustrated over the long wait but what to do? 😒 Especially when it seems all January applicants have left the group.🥴 |

Oracle12: Heyo!
Giving back. Here is our timeline.
I have the EU Blue Card and reside in Berlin.
Booked for re-union visa appointment 23/03/2022
Wife got an email from the embassy on 24/04/2023 for appointment on 16/05/2023 (verification fee was not asked, although she was with it, she did not bother to ask since we were even praying for that long process to be skipped….lol) Received a letter from ABH on 15/06/2023, dated 9/06/2023 asking to submit documents (verification was indeed skipped)
I submitted the documents on 03/07/2023. I got a response from ABH on 10/07/2023 that my wife's visa has been approved and it is now on Lagos to issue the visa.
12/07/2023, she got an email to submit her passport, travel health insurance and travel date. We submitted all same day and she got her passport with visa stamped on 19/07/2023.
I hope it helps and gives someone hope. Congratulations 👏🎉 |

Babbbbbbbbby: No no ,you don't need to worry about that. The embassy will ask ABH. ABH will ask your spouse for some documents and when the required documents meet the requirements, there will send the pre-approval to the embassy. Ok . Thank you. |

Babbbbbbbbby: I already have it typed on my PC 🤣 Oh really! 😅 Thank you so much in anticipation then. I ll patiently wait for it until when your process is complete. Please this pre-approval of a thing I didn't do it for my own process. I guess my case is different. I didn't start mine from Germany I guess that's the reason why. No pre-approval was sent on my behalf to to the embassy. |

Babbbbbbbbby: Germany has to approve your coming before the embassy can give you visa. So after your spouse summits required documents to ABH and they are satisfied with your spouse status, they will send preapproval to the embassy. Its called preapproval because just one party has approved, the embassy has to also approve but even if the embassy approves Germany has to approve too before the whole visa process is complete. Please senior colleagues correct me if am wrong . Ok . Thanks for your response. |

onyeka84: Hi FrauPosh and indeedevery other person who might be able to shed some light on my question. I am aware that some persons do not have to go through the verification process, while other do. So the question now is: How do they select those that needs to be verified and how do they select those that dont require the verification step. Thank you in advance :-) If your spouse is a DAAD scholar or is a Blue Card holder then there will be no verification. |

Babbbbbbbbby: It's well dear, you'd hear from the lawyer soon. I know exactly how you feel. I'm yet to get verification complete email. As for ABH, when we called them some time in February, my husband was told that the preapproval was sent in January and our case with them and the embassy had been completed and closed but i have seen some people write here that the preapproval is valid for 3months. I dunno what going to happen but just to keep being patient. This process has been emotionally and mentally draining. Thanks for your kind words Babbbyyy. Please what is Pre-approval? Your pre-approval was sent before your lawyer visited you? What's that about? Please can you explain? |

Babbbbbbbbby: Hi FrauPosh, has the lawyer come? Not at all o. First week of next month will make it exactly six months. Na to just kuku forget. I called the embassy, the man that responded said I can not control how the lawyer does his job. That the lawyer can choose how he wants to do my verification. He can choose where to start. He can choose to start from my various educational institutions. That the fact he hasn't visited me yet does not mean the verification process has not started. That visitation is just one of the process. My sister I just rest. When I get so anxious I read your experience and get some strength to keep waiting. What to do? 🥺😟 The waiting is real. I have never waited in silence 🤐 for anything as long as this in my life. I hope your process with ABH will go speedily too Thanks for asking.🙏🙏 |

[quote author=Nnennaaaaaaaaaa post=123868232]Hi dear, good morning
Here’s my timeline;
Booked appointment for my son & I in July 2021
Got appointment for him (passport) Feb 2022 so the verification for both of us started then
Lawyer visited in March same year
Then I got appointment for myself in September to come submitted my documents as mine & my sons’ couldn’t be merged cause our applications were different
Verification complete mail 27th January
Was asked to Submitted my passport in April 2023 which I did about a week after (May)
Passport was delivered with visa in May as well.
Luckily for me my husband wasn’t asked to submit any document at his foreign office so there wasn’t any unnecessary delay again. [/quo
Thank you for your response. Congratulations 🎉 |

It seems to me as though the verification email timeline is random. It is just disturbing that the longer one does not get the email the more one has reasons to think something might be wrong. Six months after interview and 3 months after Lawyer's visit and absolute nothing from the Embassy. Even the foreign authority waiting for them They are not replying emails. at this point, Na to just forget.[/quot
Honestly na just to forget. 😔 |

UCEKE: Thanks. I was at Ministry of foreign affairs to Legalize it and I also notarized it because I don’t want stories again. Well I didn’t hear from any lawyer. I called the embassy to ask for update, I was asked some questions and they check my details and confirm that my verification is on going.
So for now am working on the document the ABH request for.
Everything will be fine. Don’t worry Ok good to hear UCEKE. Thanks for your response. It will be well. But do you know why you were asked to legalize it? Has it got to do with the marriage registery? I hope you don't mind me asking? I did my marriage at a local government registry not federal.I hope that would result in any cause for alarm? I'm glad you are done and over with the legalization process. |

UCEKE: Unfortunately, you have not sent us the complete documents. Please pick this up:
The legalisation of your marriage certificate (unfortunately, you only sent us the marriage certificate again, but we need the legalisation of it)
Proof of income March to May 2023
Rent June 2023
Lease agreement which is still valid for at least 12 months
We received the above request from the foreign office in Germany. Please who else have received such request and didn’t the request for legalization from you or it is a new requirement? Hello how is it going? Were you able find a way to legalize your document? I wish you a smooth process. I still haven't heard from my lawyer. |

Nnennaaaaaaaaaa: Lmao, yess, that’s why I said everyone should keep sending that reminder mail, I wasn’t in a hurry so I didn’t push. I recall the church I was baptized in refused to sign the form they came with (fear of scammers lol), & they had visited there 3 times so I knew I had to apply pressure.
There were literally some loop holes here and there. About 6 months into the verification I got a call that my brother wasn’t snapped while he filled his form and that my application was flagged cause of that so that’s why the embassy hadn’t sent a verification success. My brother had to meet up with the guy & they sorted it out. Still I didn’t push, then 10 months into the verification I reached out to the embassy and informed I hadn’t heard from them and it had been 10 months in, the next day I got the verification success mail & proceeded to apply for my sons’ passport.
So yea, I sort of blame myself for also keeping quiet cause I feel I would have been long sorted before now. Hello how is it going? Please can you share your timeline? Thanks |

dobeespen: Hi Everyone,
I had been observing from afar for about 6 months now and just reading comments so that I could know what to expect for my husband's visa process. Here's a timeline of how my husband's visa application process went:
September 2021: Applied for appointment date (he was just my fiance then so you don't have to wait till you're married to book for a date as I read recently) October 2022: Got interview date November 2022: Had interview. Interviewer told him that the verification and A1 certificate is not necessary. i think this is because at the time my application to transition from student visa to blue card was still pending and he mentioned to them that I had applied for a blue card. The interviewer told him to bring back older pictures of us LOL, which he also submitted in November.
We didn't hear anything from either embassy or ABH between November and February. I wrote ABH in February to ask for a status update and they said I had to wait for my resident permit to be issued before they can continue with my husband's application. In the meantime, the salary requirement for blue card increased in 2023 and I had to switch from a blue card application to a resident permit for employment purposes.
March 14, 2023: Had interview to change my resident status from student to worker. I was told they will not process my husband's visa until I have physically picked up the permit, which took another 6 weeks.
April 26, 2023: Picked up resident permit
May 4: Got a letter from the ABH that some documents were not properly filled. So I filled them correctly and sent it back that same May 4.
After a week later, I called the embassy and asked for an update since i did not hear anything from the ABH. They said I have to wait and the lady I spoke to wasn't very nice anyway. i sent an email as well after my call asking for an update.
May 16: Got the email to submit passport, travel insurance and travel dates.
May 18: Submitted all documents.
May 26: Got passport back with visa and all documents.
His travel date is not until August since we only had the legal wedding last year, so we plan to do the church wedding before we both leave for Germany. All we had to do was submit travel insurance and ticket itinerary and made sure they matched, and they issued his visa to commence on his exact day of exit from Nigeria.
Gosh the whole anxiety concerning this process is something else, I was the one with the anxiety and my husband was chill the whole time LOL.I pray everyone who is waiting will be granted their visa cause this thing is not easy. Congratulations.🎉🎉 Please how did you submit your passport and travel date? |

Babbbbbbbbby: Not sure but we might get the same lawyer cos, just like he interviewd me I also asked him questions and of cos you know this people will give you diplomatic answers. But he told me that he'd be heading towards that side,he started from the farthest places from Lagos and he'd keep going further untill he finds himself back in Lagos. He even said that in one state he has 16 applicants for verification. So we will all get answers, though it will take time but it will come. I'm hopeful. One just has to be positive henceforth. Danke |

Babbbbbbbbby: Thanks everyone for your concerns,we are all in this together. I see us as a small family. At exactly 7months after my visa interview, the lawyer called,Since I am in a different city from my parents and where all my school and other documents were to be verified,he saw me first as he also needed to verify with my employer before proceeding to see my parent and also to verify my documents which are in the same state as my parents. I am so happy, atleast one step forward. Now it's to wait for verification complete email then send your passport and travel date email,I can't wait. We need to pop champagne. I am so happy for you. Finally! Your story has given me hope and raised my spirit. It will get to our turn in due course. Congratulations sis. Many congratulations. 🎉🎉🎉🎉👏👏👏 |
