This moment was POWERFUL. It turned the tables. Ford made the point that being truly intelligent wasn’t about memorizing trivia—it was about knowing how to get the right information when you need it. That line foreshadowed the entire information age.

The Verdict
Ford won the case symbolically. The jury awarded him only six cents in damages, but it was enough to show that the Tribune had been unfair. More importantly, it shattered the assumption that memorized knowledge equals intelligence.
