[quote author=imperiouxx]Your assumption is a long way out of context. With letter from the school, you'll gain entrance after resumption date. A day after resumption on the I-20, visas are still approved. The subject should check where he/she looked suspicious if at all. But he never mentioned he had any letter from the school and his visa wud av bn issued 4 days after resumption.1 thing I know is, u can hardly bend rules in US, like I said earlier, if the school has a restrict policy abt resumption, then that could have been the reason. Considering SQUARED's (nt sure of his username) experience, his I-20 had a spelling error, according to him, he was told to get a new I-20 with d change effected that if he(d VO) approved his visa it wud cus probs 4 both of dem @ POE. Overall, we should make sure our docs are on check and get interviewed way before our resumption date to avoid any wahala. |
bypassit: @imperiouxx,From what I have read and know, If your school av a compulsory orientation or av a policy not to enroll after the resumption date, you might av had problems @ the POE in US, cus u will av presented ur I-20 which would mean u missed the deadline and would not be able to enroll in school (dats a prob 4 d VO and U). The embassy might av taken this into consideration and technically deny on the basis of "u can't enroll in school". |
smartmachine: Hello everyone in da house, Please i need someone to help me with this question? cos i know V.O could be trick sometimes I want to have a clue on how to answer questions like this. ThanksI think you answer should be, if an internship position, which shouldn't exceed a year, yes because the experience would be invaluable to you otherwise If a full job, No because the contract cud tie you down in the US, which is not in your plan. |
mr swagger: @Free R1, Thank you for the info.. Ofcourse, I'm using Genuine documents.. I don't indulge myself in fraudulent activities. It will pay you no good... @Free R1, does dis mean the VO will be very strict at interview.. What do u mean by Orientation. The School said they accept certified copies.. So I think I will go to ikeja high court to notarize my documents... @Free R1, does Education USA notarize documents? U said verification, will I hv to pay for it? And also Is verification of documents the same as Notarization of documents? Thanks hope to hear from you soon..Not strict, but you will have to do more 2 convince him/her (sum1 going 2 Duke uni, harvard etc wud av a very short interview) pls don't let dis deter u cus all dis is theory, with God, ur interview cud b better dan dat of a Harvard admit wiv full funding. Verification is not the same as notarization, what EAC does is, they check if all your docs are genuine, if they are, they will email the school on your behalf that your are genuine and they can process ur app, dats verification. For notarization, you will make a colored copy of your docs, take it to a notary (usually a lawyer, they av a special seal) to get it notarize, like I said d, boiz around d court will get it done for u. EAC won't charge you anytn but will require you to attend an orientation where they will tell u abt USA and its education. All the best. |

mr swagger: Hello House, Pls I need ur candid info on this, I need to Notarize my WAEC certificate nd transcripts of result from my high school for Us admission. The university just sent me an email nw and said I can have all my documents notarized at EducationUSA centre in lagos or Abuja... I tried contacting the centre but they didn't give me the info I need. Pls who has notarized his/her documents through EducationUSA centre.. Pls wht r d procedures nd how much does it cost? What EAC does is document verification (they help with admission to, for a fee) and you won't have to pay anything but please and please make sure all your docs are genuine cus any fake docs discovered is a life ban. If your school request for verification with EAC, i blv it is a typical Naija Uni in US and that’s a red flag for the VO (so you need to be tight with your interview), you will be told that when you attend their orientation (it is compulsory before they attend to you). As for notarization if that what your school need and not verification, you can go to any court, meet the guys that hang around the court, they would be of help, if you don't know any court close to you, go to Tinubu court @ Marina, it will only cost you 2k-3k. |
cliffypatt: @Adolite....specified below are my response to the visa officer's questions:Why do you want to go to the US? I think your answer was wrong, I think it should be to study, going for UG studies. I think the answer you gave was for “Why the US?” How did you find out about the school? I think your response was weak, since your school is relatively “unknown”, you should start with the school being recommended to you by a lect, then you further heard about it at a seminar with name of the seminar and what it was about should be included. Why the school? You need to read more about the school and the city the school is. A lot would be gotten from the school website and Google. Above all, practice the long list of questions someone provided earlier on and make sure you provide convincing answers. It will boost your confidence. Pray hard and book now. Fall hopefuls are we all ready? |
@House, What is "CGI appointment service charge receipt"? It is among the list of required docs ie I-20, MRV etc. |
yankison: I am going for june . I was late for my ACT test and just missed SATYou can try your luck bro as long as you have your I-20 and your school doesn't require any of the tests. A lot of people on this thread did not write any exam but still got their visa. |
Fall hopefuls in the house, interview is getting close (June and July), we all should post possible questions, answers and documents needed for a smooth interview. As for the I-20, I got mine in 3weeks vai regular post though my school gave an option of getting it vai courier. |
@all @imperiouxx Do grants, weather GA, Scholarships or fellowship normally reflect on the I-20? Usually, admission decisions are made and I-20 issued before grants decision are made, will the school reissue a new I-20 should the grant be granted? For embassy purpose; will a letter from the school stating the grants and benefits be enough for the embassy, if the old I-20 has to be used for visa assuming no reissue. @imperiouxx kindly let us know how urs was, if it was stated on your I-20 and how your school went about theirs. |
imperiouxx:Congrats Bro, God is really faithfully and patience is indeed a virtue. Though let down by your school's Graduate Adviser, denied and all, u kept pushing. You are an inspiration, congrats. Fall hopefuls Leggo!!! |
Akainzo:Get a copy of the concession agreement and read it, the coastal road was to be constructed by LCC as the alternative road. Don't come here to deceive people!!! The project is not a federal govt project but entirely Lagos state/ LCC. |
@webstrada ur uncle can swear an affidavit of support, can be done @ any high court 4 a token, his bank can also give u a reference letter to show d account is real and ur uncle gave you d statement, just my own thinking |
@imperiouxx What do you think secured you the Graduate assistantship? I mean your strength. |

We really should not mistake eloquence for good understanding of the problem or providing solution to it. When Ribadu was asked what he feels about the educational system of Nigeria, all he did was blab! He said that he believes the educational system is bad but talked on educational policies, e talked about d infrastructure, 26percent of d budget going 2 education and the likes, these are all policies and not solution 2 d said bad system. The general on d oda hand said it all, dat nothing is wrong with the educational system which is 6-3-3-4 but everything is wrong with the policies in place, which is the provision of infrastructure, training of lectures etc. The general said a lot in a little way. Ribadu won't probe the $12billion dollars spent on power by d pdp but move on, on second thought did he not consider dat there could be some constraints why the 12billion did not work and not embezzlement, the General on the oda hand, would find out so as to avoid such mistakes, Bravo to the General, vote BB for change, |
