You guys fail to understand one thing about the Nigerian church.
95-99% of the Nigerian church does not exist to live in line with what Christianity demands from a believer or what it promises the believer which is the eternal life.... People don't go to church because of a renewed heart or a decision to follow God and end up in heaven. Heaven is a mystical mirage to 99% of church goers, heaven can pause, while they enjoy themselves to the fill on earth which is the only reality they know and wish to explore. Not heaven.
In addition, God & church is only viewed as an alternative path or a solution to the lust and ambition they desperately seek. Of course these people try different paths so church is a good insurance.
For pastors, 90 - 95% of pastors see church as a passport to good life, to fame, to uninhibited power to do and control people. Lust for power and mammon that will afford them their hidden dreams while hiding under the garb of spirituality. Many of them have fallen away, godless and in no remorse to seek and find God again.
So like pastor, like the congregation. They are both villains not victims
