ganiyuadeoye: This is a scam of the highest order, how on earth will $100 CAD=N20,254 when it's not parallel market... please guys does anyone know anybody to report these bank to? These scammers must not always go scot free. Good Morning Lads The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has failed in its regulatory role, I have once cried out of this blue murder, Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) has an online plat form for FX transfer from dollars to naira. Can you imagine GTB transferring your Dollars to your naira account at 199 naira but this same bank will charge you 289naira as at the last time I tried using my Naira master card? This robbery, scam or what ever has to stop, I have said this before, we have to mobilize against them. That of GTB is worst, how can you trasfer at 199 and charge master card at 289? Nigeria I hail thee!!! |

Graviton2: I don't think posting the person's name on a public forum shows civility on your part. I don't really agree with you, she went too far, you can't be asking for a favour yet sound that way, things don't work like dat. Though there are better ways of communicating displeasure, but to be honest, I think she called for it. |

GTbank is a fraud. How can one make an online transfer from his domiciliary account to his savings or current and the exchange rate was being charged at the official exchange of 199, then, for one to use Master card they charge 280, someone has to call all these banks to order. This is not only the BDC's the banks are now deeply entrenched in this unholy act of making difficult for helpless Nigerians. The CBN governor needs to address this issue asap. |

airhunde: I think there is a new rule against applicants who finished school before 2010 that's 5 years before applying. Just heArd that is the new cic standard sha. My unconfirmed opinion oooooo. I used only an O'level of 2001 to apply for B.Sc and I got my TRV December, 2015. It ain't an issue whether it was 6years ago or 1day ago, all that matters is how you present your point.(Unfortunately there is little I can share on this page) |

What do i tenda at POE It is not advisable to travel in January for a May resumption, though you have been permitted to travel, you may be denied entry if you made the trip. I was also given a TRV on the second week of December, 2015, but I ain't leaving till April 2016, kos my school resumes May. I learned it is usually 1 month to the date on the admission letter. Be wise bruv. |

EmmaMsc: Hello It is not compulsory you show school fees receipt (a nairalander travelling with me didnt show it). I only showed the form A because she specifically asked me for it. What you need to show is "proof that you have enough money to support yourself during your stay in Canada" (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-arriving.asp) For that I think bank statements will suffice. I had my bank statements with me. I would have shown that if she had asked.
Cheers Thanks bruv for your contribution. |

EmmaMsc: Hello guys, happy new year.
Reporting live from Regina. Journey was smooth but stressful. Flew Ethiopian airline from Abuja. Had four hrs layover in Addis ababa, 1hr in Dublin, about 8hrs in Toronto
Had no problems passing through customs and immigration in Abuja. They were very professional . They were smiling and wished me a great trip.
No problems with immigration and customs in Toronto. Just declare the kind of food you are carrying in the customs card. Immigration asked for school fees receipt but I didnt have. So i showed her the customer duplicate copy of the form A I used in making transfer. Told her the funds have not arrived the school yet.
Goodluck to everybody waiting for their visas and safe journey to those travelling.
Cheers
Edited:
If you already have an adrress in canada of where you will be staying ( including a hotel address) you can get your SIN at the airport My School resumes May, I have already gotten my TRV but have no intention going to that school, I wanna switch, I wanna go to a different school. How do I tackle d immigration and customs at the POE, interms of school fees receipt, paying for this school will amount to paying double school fees. Or how do I show proof of financial strength Suggestions needed!!! |

toucheli: 1.Your flight tickets /boarding pass 2.Your passport/Visa 3. Your admission letter/letter of acceptance 4. A proof of address of were you'll be spending your first couple nights until you get a place(a hotel reservation receipt is enough. But if you didn't reserve, get a friends full address(including postal code), and tell them you already rent a place and the landlord will be picking you from the airport. Not a big deal, but they just don't want you to come and wander about, for your safety and others especially now that's its winter. Good luck Thank you for your kind contribution, I got my TRV December , but my school resumes May, when is the earliest time to travel? |

Please can we stop!!! This forum is all about sharing of ideas and helping one of us, nobody knows it all, not even the VO. Its becoming a pain reading your posts and the replies being given, please if I may ask, is there any award for the most enlightened in Nairaland? So why all these, why the continued exchange of words, we are better grow up, or else we would have ended up scaring a new comer. Kind words must be used at all times. Objections are allowed but it must be done with respect. Regards. Jesusgang: Thank you for this.
I think you should ask questions instead of brickbats (ask for elucidation).
MR KNOW-ALL, please help yourself by moving away from the past and if you see any comments, ask questions before OUTBURSTING or IMPLEMENTING.
I hope that helps you.
Cheers |
