Travel / Re: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by Frenchblood: 1:30am On Jun 04, 2022
Hi y’all prospective France Students and Aspirants in this thread.

In the quest to give back to the community as well as re-enforcing developmental growth for Nigerian students, AfriAide is creating a platform that helps African students settle down easily in France and perfectly into France’s educational system.

And yes, AfriAide is an NGO, meaning; every single information, contributions, help, grants etc are free as the organization is a non-profitable non-governmental created solely for Africans by Alumni in France

So we created a New Thread for record purpose as we are here to answer questions regarding settling down and getting to know yhe french education and it’s challenges as well as student life.

Here is a link to the thread;

However, all relating questions here will be answered directly by AfriAide. Cheers !

Celebrities / Breaking: Aláàfin Of Òyó Dies @ 83 ! Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III (1938-202) by Frenchblood: 1:04pm On Apr 23, 2022
The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, joined his ancestors on Friday night, bringing an end to his 52-year-old illustrious reign on the throne.

Aged 83, Oba Adeyemi, who died at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, was the longest serving Alafin of Oyo.

As the public await funeral arrangements for Iku baba yeye as he was fondly called, here are eight highlights of Adeyemi’s life and time.

Birth

Oba Adeyemi was born on October 15, 1938 into the Alowolodu Royal House and was a member of the House of Oranmiyan. Iku baba yeye, whose mother, Ibironke, died when he was young, was the son of late Raji Adeniran Adeyemi who became Alaafin in 1945.

King at 31

Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III ascended the throne of Alafin in 1970 at a young age of 31 shortly after the end of the civil war. He became the king when Colonel Robert Adeyinka Adebayo was the military governor of Oyo State.

Married to 13 wives

Adeyemi had 11 wives, the senior among them being Ayaba Abibat Adeyemi, and usually attended most events with her or with one of the 12 junior wives.

His other wives include Ayaba Rahmat Adedayo Adeyemi, Ayaba Mujidat Adeyemi, Ayaba Rukayat Adeyemi, Ayaba Folashade Adeyemi, Ayaba Badirat Ajoke Adeyemi, Ayaba Memunat Omowunmi Adeyemi, Ayaba Omobolanle Adeyemi, Ayaba Moji Adeyemi, Ayaba Anuoluwapo Adeyemi, And Ayaba Damilola Adeyemi.

Fathered over 20 children

Alafin is succeeded by more than 20 children and grand children.

Boxer

One notable attribute of the late king was his love for boxing, a ‘skill’ he had dramatically displayed in public. He was said to be a boxer before ascending the throne.

Celebrities / Banky W: I Was Disappointed Wizkid Didn’t Attend My Wedding by Frenchblood: 8:04pm On Apr 21, 2022
In a recent chat with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on the BlackBox interview series, the singer turned politician revealed that he was disappointed with the former EME signee for not showing up at his wedding.

"Was I disappointed that he wasn't at the wedding? I was but I know he tried because there was a show with a lot of the artists...I think it was One Africa,".

"As a matter of fact Tiwa ended up...there was business class and she took economy seat so she could make it. But he called at the time that he was so sorry."

Yesterday was a fresh worldcup experience of some sort. Took a bus to from Lyon to Grenoble (the satdium) to see the Nigerian Female team knock South Korea on the head at the Female Worldcup. I was screaming Asisat Oshoalas name all through till she scored.

.......

Lyon is an hour journey from the venue. All I had to do is just book a 'to-fro' bus of about 10-15 euros there about for a person (I went with my friend). We arived an hour earlier and left an hour after.

I had once watched a Ligue 1 match in Lyon some couple of months ago (I got a free ticket). Now I have to watch my country play cos I missed the first match. Thank God I did'nt see the humiliation.

We played well, outstanding and beyond expectation. We are known to have a weak team but we showed some difference especially in the second half.

The stadium was almost full, I had never see a crowd as such before, may be once at Ikeja's Computer Village, in Lagos lool grin grin

The sun was scorching hard as summer just began. It was a wonderful/worthwile experience I just feel to write some lines about. One of them denied me her jersey after the match. Something I have planned to hang in my room cheesy

Hi, I'm almost back while you are almost right !

If hustling is a crime then I think I have offended everyone following this journal ! grin

I have been having a lot of workload (studies and work) since the beginning of this year, I taught i'll scale through it and have time to feed my thread, 'shebi na to just dey write' But hell no, no time.

However, I'll be on break soon and i'll 'picture-gist' the whole thing in no time.

P,S; The country continent is so green that you won't even have time until you've made enough !

Where did I stop ?

Let's take a walk while remembering grin

So by illustrating the steps, let's see things.

Picture 1: Rue de La Republique, Lyon. A typical summer street scene in the city centre.

Lyon, A city of about 2 million people + metropolitan areas.. second largest in france after Paris (12 million people) + 80 million visitors every year, even the whole population of France is no more than 70 million people.

Its reasonable to know that each of all the cities in France have their sppecific areas of specialisations and a particular 'theme'.

Like Paris is known for Art, shopping, fashion, lux bussiness.. etc. Lyon on the other hand is known for its gastronomy, cuisine, landscapes and art !

Bordeaux is special for wines, Toulouse is technology and aerospace , Marseille is casino, ship and lux ferry world. Nantes is vineyards, Clermont is Cheese, Grenoble is Mountains, Alps and Nanotechnology, Monaco is money, riches and luxury, Nice is Beauty and Beach, Montpellier is women, ladies, love and sexy life, that's their speciality! Lille is cultural, history and romanesque. Strasbourg is also historical, Catholic capital, city if saints..

Bref, the country is so diverse and the cities are numberless.. like the population is well spread and not centred (except Paris)

Back in Nigeria we only know few cities through watching football and the funny thing is we think it ended there.. how shallow was my brain mehn! grin cheesy

The scene is so different. Far from what you may think or may have thought !

P.S; Europe is 'smally the biggest of all continents'

Bonjour, since when have you been speaking French? I read gaining admission into a French school is easy and affordable. can you recommend a good language school for me here in Lagos? Thanks

I started speaking French from wayback, like I have relations with a Francophone West African country.
Abou the recommendation, try:

Alliance Française (Lagos, Ibadan, Ilorin, PHc, Abuja)
Institute Français (Lagos, Abuja)

Or try full-time diploma at The Nigerian French Language Village in Badagry.

Meanwhile, if you aren't realy French-oriented, it could take long to get to the level of admission into a French course.
so, you could learn, as it would help you a lot. But I would advise you to Write English Exams to the highest level. Then any level you could try in French too.

Cheers !
