I think for you're also missing the point of that, statement as simple as that, I wonder why

Replace that with "agreed" and you'll see that all I did was just to agree with the Guy's statement because I share the same sentiments,
Rape someone. You go to jail,
Falsely accuse someone of rape. You go to jail.
Like I said earlier, it's that simple, there is no excuse.
That statement, was solely to agree with the post of that guy, I wasn't rounding up anything. Just agreed with that post.

I

That's why I said he is foolish and it's even worse because he was off point.

The money should be paid on both sides, those who rape, and those who falsely accuse others of rape,
They should both pay their victims, it should be a given,
Part of what the victims will get.

You're right on the law aspect but at least if someone outrightly disrespects you with the cleared accusations
or discriminates against you to your face, you can sue and the person goes to jail,
It's something at least right?
Maybe we can start from there?

Extremely difficult yes, but at least it's doable, and we can start or attempt to do something, sad
And maybe attempt to change the mentality of the Nigerian people that if someone has been cleared of rape accusations, that means the person is innocent and no one should throw that in his face.

I actually got your point the first time. I knew you were only agreeing with the person you quoted but the way you put it is what I don't agree with. There is a lengthy legal process which can drain the one who is innocent mentally, psychologically and financially to say the least.

Your statement kinda makes it look like determining if someone was falsely accused and sentencing the accuser to jail is a verdict that can be easily reached.

And I agree with every other point you've made.

Daeylar:

Thanks jare.

Exactly you get my point,
however I think they mean because it seems this girl is lying therefore they will disregard every other woman who speaks out about rape or kidnapping, just because this girl is lying,
And that's what I'm vehemently against,
It's a very ridiculous mentality
Like I said and you said also,
Whether they believe or not is immaterial, the case should be judged in court and we should wait for judgement,

That guy that quoted me and started his post by insulting himself is nothing but a fool, he didn't attack the person who made that statement,
He went to attack me just because I agreed,
Why didn't he attack the original poster?? and the most ridiculous part is that he is off point,
The simple point is that people who rape and people who falsely accuse someone of rape should face the same punishment and I agreed,
How does that relate to him ranting about the person's name being cleared and all that?

I don't wasted my time on confused fools,.

Going back to what you said,
Something should be done about that. That isn't right at all,
Maybe a law can be made? If someone is cleared of a false rape accusation, it's becomes a crime to hold it against the person? I don't know but that's just an idea,
Do you have any ideas?

I want to believe what triggered him to respond to you that way (Which i'm in no way justifying his insults) was because you ended your post with "It should be as simple as that". There is a life to be lived after the court case. Court cases could also take months depriving the young man of a job and a means of livelihood during this period. It's actually complicated when you look at it holistically.

However, this is the problem with many Nigerians. Rather than constructively arguing their point, they would rather insult you to make a counter opinion.

I don't necessarily think enacting a law where it becomes a crime to discriminate against someone who has been cleared of a false rape allegation would be effective. There are laws in advanced countries against racism, antisemitism, discrimination, etc. But in reality what these laws have succeeded in doing is reduce how people openly discriminate and not actually stopped discrimination.

For example if you applied for a Job in an organisation where the hiring manager is "racist", he would't decline your application if you're qualified as that might appear as some form of "discrimination". What he would rather do in the guise of being "non-racist" would be to get back to you after the interview thanking you for your time but stating that unfortunately you didn't meet the requirements for the role.

What I think would be more effective would be for the court to award a large some of money as compensation paid by the plaintiff to the defendant. While the plaintiff also gets jail time. That would serve as a deterrent to anyone before accusing someone falsely of rape or kidnap. But then again there is the element of how much trust can one actually place on our judicial system. Sigh!

However, the sad reality remains it would be extremely difficult to get rid of the stigma that would be attached to the one who has been falsely accused in Nigeria.

i have just one question, is the court of law always right? Because I have read people charged for crimes they didn't commit even in countries where corruption is low

The court isn't always right sadly. But that's the harsh reality, the courtroom is just a pageantry of how well you present your case with substantial facts and evidence.

She isn't spoiling chances of anything,
Just because one person lies about rape doesn't mean everyone else that speaks about rape or kidnapping is lying. Very ridiculous mindset.
Stop using one woman as an excuse to treat every other woman badly,
That's no longer on dorcas
That's on you.

Let them go to court, if she is wrong. Then she should be jailed, the Man's name should be cleared and everyone should move on.

I'm tired of people using this case as an excuse

Whether you believe or not, let the case get judged on court.

It should be as simple that.

deolumike:
seriously??

So it's that simple. Just go to court and clear your name.

You really shouldn't be that simpleminded. The dude in question has first of all lost his job. No conviction yet o!

He will always carry that tag in people's mind no matter what... '"...you mean that guy that was accused of rape/kidnap""

Do you see the stigma and hardship he's already being subjected to.

You sit your lazy ass on a complacent couch and use your ignorant fingers to type trash because you're not the one facing false charges.

...And yes. False claims like this reduces the credibility of otherwise genuine cases of rape.

You have both made valid points. However I would like to agree and disagree with a few things.

This is where I totally agree with Daeylar and this is my personal opinion. The fact that someone lies about being raped or kidnapped doesn't reduce the credibility of genuine rape/kidnap cases.

Criminal cases are not subject to "public opinions or polls" which makes this argument about "credibility" void. Everyone has a choice to believe whatever they want to. However, it is up to the legal system to decide based on facts and evidence presented before a Judge if a particular case is genuine or not.

If for example everyone chooses not to believe a genuine rape case, does this therefore mean the police wouldn't investigate? Does it change the dynamics in any way? Absolutely not.

On the flip side this is where I totally agree with deolumike . For one who is wrongly accused of Rape or Kidnap, there is a stigma automatically attached to the person. Even if his name gets cleared and is published on every newspaper and blog, it wouldn't of necessity take away that stigma especially in a country like Nigeria. People would still refer to him as one who was accused of "rape/kidnap".

He might still struggle to get a job, because some people would still "choose" to believe he is guilty, while others wouldn't want to take the risk of employing someone who has been previously accused of such because of the image it would give the organisation.

The two plans have been collpased into one. So a prospective cashew farmer play smart by planting other crops along your cashew trees to share or bear the costs that would have been spent on the cashew cultivation alone. Investor can as well recoup 50% or all of his investment cost in about a year time frame

What exactly is the incentive to invest with Hastom Nigeria for someone who is probably thinking of investing on about an acre for a start? Because from what I have read on your website, Farm management is only provided if one is investing on 40acres and above.

save yourself all this unnecessary questions download the taxify app and see if is actually possible to make a request without putting your destination. Even if you enter a destination the driver will not see it till he stat the trip which is why most of them ask the rider their destination before starting trip because if you stat the trip it means you are ready to take the rider to her destination.

Last time I checked I didn't quote you, neither is the person I asked the questions complaining. I don't have to download the Taxify app when the questions can be easily answered by someone who uses the app. And by the way, I asked him specifically about the Uber app which I have used a couple of times and still have on my phone.

Thanks anyway for your unsolicited response. smiley

I just did and the app wouldn't let me proceed without inputting a destination. Or is there something I'm not doing right?

To state ur destination is optional and not a prerequisite for making a request on d uber/taxify app....I rarely state my destination especially if am going to a far distance or traffic prone area so as not to discourage the driver from coming!

Just curious how do you make a request on the Uber app without stating your destination. I have used Uber a couple of times and the first thing the app displays is "Where to", which is my destination.

Okay could you please share with me those posts because am really interested to seeing how that has happened. Anyways this would be easy to prove from Taxify whether she ordered without a destination or not.

I have asked the same questions myself and some folks on IG say its possible to order a cab on the Taxify app without putting a destination.

If this is the case, the real question would be why isn't anyone questioning Taxify for running a taxi service that allows passengers order for a cab without inputting a destination. How then do you even know the estimated cost of your trip?

But then again both sides of the story are completely different. While DSF claims he asked if he could make it an offline trip to which she said NO. In his own account he claimed she didn't give him a destination when he asked her. What might actually be his "undoing" would be the fact that he then decided to drive her to his house.

Don't be too hard on the OP, man.

This is apparently a coup d'etat at this stage and even some British media are reporting of Mugabe's seeming detention and removal in their articles even if they won't make such claims SCREAMING HEADLINES as yet.

I'm not being too hard on him bro.. We just need to stop all these "Instablog9ja" and "assumption styled" journalism.

I have read many articles online and even on the BBC's website and I haven't seen the term "removal". Yes it might SEEM like a coup d'etat at this stage but that's all that it is until there is an actual takeover of power by the military.

To say he has been removed as the official President of Zimbabwe is a definite statement of fact which is not entirely true according to the current situation of things.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Army Removes Robert Mugabe From Office As Zimbabwean President, Detain Him by FreshBoiy(m): 12:26pm On Nov 15, 2017

What sort of reporting is this? This Caption is totally misleading. undecided

Even Reuters who has been on ground and originally posted the breaking news has not said Mugabe has been removed as the President.

Report the story as it unfolds and stop making speculations or conjectures . The Army General said they are targeting criminals around Mugabe and they expect things to return to normalcy.
