Morning guys.. Have been asking a lot of questions recently.. Pls help with this one too.. Am confused about the next step of sending another bank statement to my school so that they can forward a new i20. Is it possible to change sponsor? Since it was what got me denied in my first interview, I couldn't provide a letter of support from dad's company. I want to use Nigeria orientation here, I want to go ahead to present Uncle's SOA (cos he's in d UK, he has a legal job and I have a letter of support from him) even though it's still dad that will go ahead to pay higher percentage of the tuition. How can someone defend this pls. Changing sponsor from dad to uncle.

No problem thank you!
GboyegaD:
Maintain your current school and probably work on your answers. You may back up your dad's account with the letter of support from the company. It only does not show a good tie, it also justifies the program as worthy to your future earnings.

Thanks boss.. Really appreciate the response
kfrosh:
These V.Os are very funny with their judgements most times. An account statement of 24 million will almost cover 2 years of study, talkless of a year tuition. You should just get a co-sponsor and you will be fine. In fact you can still go with same statement of that amount and get your visa but to be on a safer side, get a co-sponsor and refire. No need of switching school, this might not go well with another V.O

I will like to know if the 39k is tuition alone or it's both tuition and living expenses.
It covers everything sorry...Living expenses, tuition fee and books/insurance..my tuition fee is roughly $16k, living is about 18k usd
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by FriendlyTop: 6:30am On Sep 10, 2018
Hello house.. Who can give an advice on what to do please. I was denied the first time because of an outrageous tuition fee. Only my dad can take care of the whole expenses but the vo said he believes am a genuine student but doesn't think I can for afford d fee. The fee is roughly 39k USD and I went with a bank statement of 24mil naira. He went in for some minutes with the bank statement (I don't know what he went to do), he returned it immediately he got back and asked what mum does and the number of siblings I have. My assumption was that he was thinking maybe we would go bankrupt after paying the fee. I didn't argue and I left. I don't want to show desperation by applying to a cheaper school. I got admission to one cheaper school tho but it won't help me on the job at all, the first school with the outrageous tuition fee gave me a concentration that would be directly on the job when am back in naija.
My question is this, can I reapply again with the same school, but this time I want to go with three bank statements, my main sponsor which is my dad(40% of d fee) ,uncle is willing to help too (35%), lastly my boss at work with the company account and a letter of support.
Meanwhile I want to send only my Dad soa to the school.
Opinions please

Transcript

VO: Good morning, pass your documents please,

Me: Good morning, (I pass my Passport and I-20 form)

VO: Why are you going to the US?

Me: I am going to the US to study for my Masters of Science in Information Technology Degree at The University of Texas at El Paso.

VO: (Nods), Why UTEP?

Me: I chose UTEP mainly because the school offers MSIT that is a Blend of Technolgy and Business, focusing on Web Technologies and Management, making the course a perfect fit for my career plans as a Senior Web Developer and Tech Startup Founder. Also, the School is one of the most affordable schools with it's kind of high educational standard, shown by its steady growth since it was founded in 1914 as a mining School to being a major public research institution in the region. Recently did the College of Engineering partner with a world emerging 3D printing company, Aconity 3D making UTEP it's North American base. Finally, half of the school's population is Hispanic, further highlighting the school's openness to cultural diversity.

VO: Good Good, Why MSIT?

Me: As I said earlier, I have been a Web Developer since 2014, and registered my Tech Startup officially last year as a Limited Liability Company in Nigeria, so I searched specifically for courses that could afford me the knowledge and experience I need to improve in my field and chosen path in order to achieve my goal of improving Nigeria's economy through Technology. UTEP offered exactly that through the MSIT program, with courses such as Human-Computer Interaction, Secure Web System, Advance topics in Database, Computer Security, Financial Accounting, Effective Human Resource Management, Global Policy Management, and three other elective courses that I will finalize on before my second study year.

VO: When did you graduate, and what have you been doing since then?

Me: I graduated in 2015, went for NYSC and finished in 2016 where I served as a Basic Technology and Mathematics teacher in a Secondary school, started work at an office space for my co-founded startup with business name registration as at the time, till September 2017 when I enrolled for an advance Web Development course at Bleep (One of the Best Software development training institutions in Nigeria) till December, after which I was selected as one of the best for a 6 months internship at the same place to work with a team of Developers in building Software solutions, so as to further stretch our field experience of all we learnt during the training and for further exposure. I completed the internship program in June, and have been working at my startup since while preparing for my travel abroad.

VO: That's impressive, so what do you plan to do after your study?

Me: Pretty simple, I plan to come back to Nigeria my lovely home, and use the knowledge and experience I must have gained at UTEP and in the United States in contributing my quota to building the "Tech Echo System" in Nigeria, starting first from my Co-founded Company, by using these knowledge to run operations and manage resources better, most especially human resources, as it is evident that Nigeria has a lot of talents trooping into the field of technology and other fields, but the results we get are not up to our level of potentials mainly because of lack of experience and know-how when it comes to talent and resource management, so I intend to come be a specialist in building and managing talents in the Technology Niche of Nigeria to create solutions that will help us live better and improve the Economy of Nigeria and other African Countries. I have started this already, I will only be continuing when I come back better equipped.

VO: Nice, So Who is sponsoring you?

Me: I got a Teaching Assistantship position that covers most of my tuition and other expenses, and my Uncle is covering the remaining cost of my study.

VO: What does your Uncle do?

Me: He is a current member of the Bleep of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and is the founding Chairman of Bleep Energy that deals in construction of oil and petroleum processing facilities, massive infrastructures, as well as importation of construction materials.

VO: Nice, do you have any documents to prove this?

Me: Yes, a letter of sponsorship from Uncle(with official letterhead), His Bank statements(salary account and a personal account), Teaching Assistantship enrolment letter.

VO: Why is your Uncle sponsoring you?

Me: Smiles, First of all because he is willing and capable too, and majorly because he has been a major driving force for me to always adance in life and career, and has always supported my every move to reach for the best, my uncle was responsible for over 80% of my undergraduate expenses.

VO: That is nice, are you married, any kids?

Me: No, none.

VO: I have Approved your visa, pick up your passport with visa at the circled location in 2 days, and ensure you are with your i-20 at the POE.

Me: Smiles, Thank you, God bless you.

Amen.

Denied today at Lagos embassy.. Am a silent follower. My confidence level boosted few minutes before the interview. There were many stammerers,
Some people don't even why they chose their courses.. A guy was asked d difference between CAT 5and CAT 6 (mere Ethernet cable oh), he couldn't answer. Another guy says his company is a solution provider in software and he doesn't know about any programming language, he said something about Microsoft (I laughed) the Chinese guy was trying to help him sef, he answered most of his questions for him, he still got denied. I was hoping to get the Chinese guy cos d guy is good and knows a lot about IT.
My interview
Was directed to window 3.
The guy wore Ankara.
Vo: Good morning
Me: morning
Vo; pass me ur passport and I 20
I did before he even landed.
Vo: how did you hear about the school
I didn't hear him properly, told him to repeat and he did.
Me: After I made d decision of going for masters, I used internet tool to search for schools, listed out some school online with software as d keyword, took it inside Kimberly Clark (an American company). Fortunately for me, d present automation engineer inside d plant did his masters there so it's more like a recommendation.
Vo: what do you do
Me: am an automation technician
Vo: so u write code in c++
Me: am not really good with c++, but I write c#..as an automation person, I basically write PLC programming from Rockwell automation (he told me to repeat Rockwell).
Vo: who's ur sponsor
Me; my dad
Vo: what does he do
Me: he is into oil and gas
The vo guy laugh scatter
Vo: explain further
Me; he is a professional project engineer with schlumberger oil field services in ph
He corrected the pronunciation of schlumberger. I said that's what I call it right from time.
Vo: do u have his bank statement
Me; showed him
he perused through it and took it inside for over 7minutes.
When he got back
Vo: has ur dad been to US before cos of his job
Me: no he has been to Istanbul and UK
vo :you couldn't pronounce your dad's company well which means he doesn't work there.
I laughed and repeated that's what I call it since its German, he said he has never heard anyone pronounced it that way
Me; ok
Vo:what does ur mum do
Me; she's into real estate.
Vo: how many siblings
Me; 4 am d second born
Vo : I believe you are a genuine student but you will be paying 40k USD as tuition fee and am not sure u can afford it
And he gave me blue paper and I left.
Am not reapplying until I find a good school with moderate tuition fee and the course has to be related with software programming cos that's d only course I can defend cos of my job. Any recommendationshuh
Thanks in anticipation.
