naijababe: [s]The prep environments does one a lot for kids especially a child that has average learning capabilities[/s] but the sense of entitlements the kids develop and plus it's a cocooned environment - almost a bubble sef. No child has average learning abilities. They said the same about Einstein, Barnes, Edison and the rest. Nuff said. My daughter loves the school, she's doing great there but she's such a wuss, she rarely stand up to other kids which I find quite worrying, I don't want a bully for a child but I certainly dont want her to play victim as well. It's key for a child to learn to stand up for herself IMO. This breaks my heart every time I see this. And you always come across insinuations like this from Nigerians, not sure why. Whites on the other hand are perfectly fine to have a wuss for a child, knowing fully well that in the end the PEN IS ALWAYS MIGHTIER THAN THE SWORD. The seniors and classmates that bullied me in secondary school, where are they all now? The school is for learning. Ever considered Karate school or Boxing school? @ Stranger, homeschooling if you have what it takes, I'm honest enough with myself to knoe I aint got it. Faith schools? No thank you very much, indoctrination did all kinds of shyte to my brains (I'm serious o, infact there was time I certainly felt like I'd lost my marbles). If my kids decide to become jihadists or bible thumpers, it would be their own making and I wont helping them along in any way.
No mind stranger, his imagination was in overkill last night . He's back to the land of us mere mortals now I agree! |

naijababe: Even me wey no dey Yankee know that the fear of the IRS is the beginning of wisdom.
Home schooling? That's mighty brave, I know for a fact that I don't have what it takes plus I could never be a homemaker as I absolutely love my job and I drove my hubby insane when I was forced to stay at home for maternity leave, he couldn't wait for me to return to work.
My daughter attends a sorta prep school now but I'm beginning to have my doubts in terms of other psychological impacts such environments can have on a child what about me wey never file for the past three years? Its all myth jare. . . dont let anyone put fear fear in your mind jo Anyway, hope the kids are doing great. As for homeschooling, almost everyone that i know that were home-schooled turned out great. Nearly all of them are mormons though. |
