TNUBU4LIFE: when I told you guys that the yoruba had queued behind tinubu since the election started, most of you stayed in siberia and started firing vitriols at me,now I have been vindicated!Go back and replay the kind of reception tinubu got in oluyole ile, then,if you fully understand the politics of yoruba, there, the verdict was given! Now,when Ikubabayeye himself told Ajimobi openly that his party should not let the yoruba down, whereas,he never even gave audience to any other political party, then I know pdp is doomed! Now,the most important and formidable, the yoruba intelligentsia, they have written books on every sphere of yoruba development, they continue to deploy their services even free of charge and without their input in your govt, you are gone!I got to the library of an ex-governor in yorubaland, you need to see his rich library and collection of yoruba scholars, even the most recent collections and I was shocked to find out that this 'bigman' has read them all!I then asked him how to get these books,he said,it is by special arrangement!!They use their political clout to support the research and when the books are published, they try to make sure such books dont get wide circulation while the researcher/writer duly gets compensated, these guys are so organised and intellectually oriented!! and ofcourse, the traditional power institutions of Ogboni, these institutions place the interest of the yoruba over every other interest! They keep the 'soul' of the yoruba, they are faceless and membership is so so very secretive and strictly based on merit and sometimes by birth/pedigree!They are the ones that can never be bought, they are the ones that interpret and formulate major economic and political directions of the yoruba, they are everywhere in the world!TINUBU IS JUST THE IMAGE MAKER!
They, not tinubu, are the ones that will decide!Whatever they give,my people,it is a photocopy, the ORIGINAL IS WITH THEM!The final thing most, assuredly will not ruin nigeria but the interest of the yoruba must be protected! They have spoken, they are skeptical about the Buhari presidency, rejects pdp,GEJ BUT FOR HIS MISYARN,IS JUST A CASUALTY IN THE ART OF WAR but they wont mind maintaining their traditional relationship with the north, though, out of mutual suspicion.GEJ can not take them on!He needs them even after the election and he knows they are powerful!
Now,what do we want in Nigeria? The presidency is not our ultimate target!we want federalism! We hate this unitary system! We want to develop at a faster pace in the whole of yorubaland. We are aware, all our facets of human development can stand on its own and we really hope our people can be the best in life,we still consider this unitary system to have slowed us down too much,we are one of the greatest victims of this unitary system. We fought so many wars to arrive at this stage but in principle,we are one,we are yoruba! +1 Up Yoruba Intelligentsia! |

Let the ACN select a team of technocrats to run the country, initiate most of the major decisions. Buhari is good at fighting corruption, but a poor strategist and tactician. What special expertise/talent does he have that makes him uniquely suitable to fight corruption? What he did as the supreme commander would be impossible to do in a proper democracy. |

I think we disagree on how much risk is necessary, I believe local politicians can be better controlled when their power is home based. I honestly do not understand PDP at all. But yes the differences are not too much. He won squarely! No magomago, And we cant say that about Ojuyobo or Aregbesola! |

sbeezy8: they were Awoist even in an interview OGDs guy said theres no room for Awosim or AD or Afenifere only PDP and nationalism.
GD could have made a change but fell under the PDP charm Omisore is a thug why mention him same with Agagu Obj right hand man even more than Bode george . If Ayo Adebanjo and Reuben Fasoranti can endorse OGD, what else do you want? HID is firmly behind OGD dont forget. As for Omisore, call him a thug as much as you want, the fcat remains, he was cheated by Akande, and he needed to fight for himself, and thats what he did. I dont like him, but he is no different from the people in ACN right now. Chief Ayo Adebanjo, who spoke in Abeokuta in the presence of two leading Afenifere chieftains, Pa Reuben Fasoranti and Sir Olaniwun Ajayi, described the structure that threw up Isiaka as “completely Awoist” in all ramifications. Adebanjo urged all true Afenifere and the people of Ogun State to vote for all PPN candidates in the rescheduled National Assembly, governorship and House of Assembly elections on April 26, 2011 because of their link with Otunba Gbenga Daniel whom he described as a committed Awoist and a major stakeholder in Afenifere.
He said Daniel, throughout his tenure, has performed exceptionally well and as such it was fit and proper for the people of Ogun State to support him in ensuring that the gains of the past eight years are consolidated through a worthy successor in the person of Isiaka. Soleye said Daniel, like Awolowo, came ahead of his time and has succeeded in changing Ogun State through all round developmental strategy. He said because of the giant strides and verifiable economic development engendered in the last eight years, it has become incumbent for people of Ogun State to go with Daniel in the unfolding political dispensation. He said a vote for Isiaka and the PPN would be a vote against politics of egocentrism, greed and bitterness. He, therefore, urged the people of the state to vote massively for the PPN . |

Kilode?!: PDP is bad for SW business, they don't care about integrity, too many people with divergent ideas in that hellish party. I'll rather use them-with a long spoon- than join them. The problem we always have is where you try to make it look as though the people in PDP are vastly different from the people in ACN character-wise. No they are all the same. OGD is an Awoist to the core, even more so than Tinubu. Omisore is an awoist, just like Akande. Williams started in AD, but left because of lack of internal democracy. Olusegun Agagu started from AD. So how is ACN different from PDP? We need to stop fooling ourselves, else, these guys would continue to take us for a ride. |

ekt_bear: Ekiti IGR is very low. Economy is small, too. Osun has a goodly amount of infrastructure already. . . strong towns like Ilesha, Ife, etc. Strongest town in Ekiti is Ado, which had what, 400k people? And most of the economy there is government parastatal related.
Ekiti has always been sort of neglected infrastructure-wise in Yorubaland. Anyway, I'm not an Ekiti nationalist. . . I'm a Yoruba nationalist. Even if Ekiti has to suffer somewhat for the greater good, not a problem.
But all of this is a hypothetical discussion anyways. Obviously, you have never been to Osun. the only investment in Ife is OAU, think about it. And Ilesha isnt faring any better. |

OAM4J: We cannot run away from foreign companies making profit on us, the important thing is the efficiency of those infrastructures. There is no guarantee quick fix fom the FG. What did we get from NITEL over the years? How many times have they carried out TAM on our refineries? And where are we with the roads, the rails and power? And you think selling our national treasuries is the best way to move forward as a nation? Government bureaucracy aside, we suck as a people. Government works in other places. With the right set of people , we can do just as impressive. The failure of NEPA is not the failure of government per se, it is our failure as a people. We cannot continue harping on the awesomeness of the Chinese model for too long, we are not as inventive, and obviously, not as ingenious. We need to look to the Middle East. The UAE model is a better one for us. Use oil money, debt-less foreign money to develop your country, improve the social amenities, avoid as much debt as possible and then let your business men go forth into the world and bring in goodies back into your country. By so doing, the foreign investors would be forced to work on you own terms, and with that goes a lot of self-pride and surplus. We have two options here: immediate 'awoof' money that we will have to repay 100x over for who knows how long or a gradual development with very little foreign debt. I prefer the latter. I hate awoof money, at least not from Uncle Sam. And uncle Chinko is just as ruthless. In the final analysis, we need to operate from position of strength, which sadly is the OIL MONEY "GOD' has blessed us with |
Politics › Re: Pdp Dangles Unity Govt Carrot Before Rivals by fstranger3(m): 5:46am On Apr 12, 2011 |
ekt_bear: Tinubuism/Fasholaism is the best. PPP everything. Attach a profit incentive for private industry to develop things. If the Lekki Toll road succeeds, then we can throw up roads all over the SW within a 5 year period. Do this for roads, power, etc. Then you can start manufacturing, industrializing, and exporting. 10%+ annual GDP growth, follow a similar track that China followed. By 2100 we can hand our kids/grandkids a first world nation.
OBJism won't work anyway, the Nigerian government's money is too small. To grow most quickly we probably need $20 billiion of investment per year in Yorubaland. Federal Government budget is $30 billion. Our needs are more than the government can provide, basically. Now you are talking. At this stage, a solely private sector led developmental initiative would be disastrous for us in the long run. PPP seems a better idea if you want efficiency and some local control. I'd rather we bankrupt ourselves than be tied to the aprong string of Big Sam. |
Politics › Re: Pdp Dangles Unity Govt Carrot Before Rivals by fstranger3(m): 5:35am On Apr 12, 2011 |
ekt_bear: I don't buy his point though. His perspective is very useful for him and his clique to get rich on behalf of Yorubaland. . . getting juicy contracts and appointments. But it doesn't actually improve the region.
Anyway, OBJism doesn't work. . . he always put in place sh1tty governors. Segun Oni, the cattle herder, for example. Whats his face with the 6 stadiums in Osun State. . . basically throwing away money. Ok where is the initial capital for privatization coming from? Most likely from abroad? Eventually the money would be taken out of the country. What you want as usual is quick fix? But it will not last? Most of MTN and Etiasalat's profit are taken out of the country, making us, relatively, poorer in the process. Even Glo, had to go offshore to raise fund and would be repaid with interest to the foreign investors. We need big government at this point, not small. Lets spend the oil money for developmental project, equip the populace 'cos the future of oil doesnt look so bright ( It will either finish or Big Sam will, EVENTUALLY, demand less) I think OBJism with the right mindset/people is the best for us to jumpstart our national development. |
