Please read my post again, the 858GBP is for both of us. I explained in my post that flight will be more expensive than that now. so you can do 1000gbp for two. I also explain that the remaining (after deducting flight and accomodation) from the 1998GBP is for our living expenses !

If you've stated in your application that you have no friends and families in the UK, better stick to it to avoid troubles at POE.
You can still go to Crystal lodge or any other hotel, probably stay there for one or two nights and move to friend's apartment to be on a safer side.
If you've ever watched UK border force, you'll know anything can happen at POE.
In case you don't know, if you're subjected to a secondary inspection, an officer has a right to go through your phone, diary and organisers. So avoid incriminating emails, sms, phone calls to your UK contacts.
Guide your visa jealously.

At the POE in Heathrow, the ECO asked to see my hotel reservations, she looked thru it and wrote down the address somewhr. So I don't knw if it's possible for u to get past the POE without showing evidence of hotel reservation. Remember in ur application, u said u will be lodging in a hotel.
In my case, I did 3 hotel reservations sha, she saw the 3 reservations and jus wrote down the address of the hotel I will be staying the first night. Yea, I later cancelled other bookings but still booked other hotels later.

I plan to cancel booking for crystal hotel because it is too far but book another hotel for the 13 nights, i will go to the hotel on the first night and probably stay the second night also and then cancel booking for the remaining nights and move over to my friend's place. I did not mean to tell them at POE that i will be staying with friends since I had stated in my application that i will be staying in a hotel

Hi, I have lodged for one night in Crystal Lodge, it's clean and quiet. Nothing fantastic The neighbourhood is kinda dry and the place is far from Central London.
You could have chosen a place that is closer or maybe you have other reasons for choosing Thornton Heath as your camp base.

Thanks for the info. I actually chose Crytsal Lodge for the purpose of the application because the rate is cheap (566 for 13 nights for a double room). I am cancelling the booking today. I will actually stay with friends in london and manchester. I will book another hotel where i will stay for probably one or two days before moving over to my friends' places

I submitted at Ikeja on 6th October, got an sms that decision has been taken last friday (16th october). My wife's income is 100k. She wrote 75k as her living expense (with an explanation that she takes care of domestic expenses at home while i save towards capital project other things). She wrote zero (0) as expenses on dependants. Total budgeted expenses for both of us is 1998GBP. Accomodation 566GBP (13 nights at crystal lodge hotel,thorton heath), flight 858 GBP (about 260k for both of us; but flight is more expensive now). The rest is living expenses.

Hello everyone..i picked up our passports today and we got the visas ! I was so nervous !. The balance on my account was about 1m and my wife's was just 100k. I also made one or two silly mistakes at the point of submission. I drafted the cover letter based on advices here and i explained the other funds that came into my account asides my salary.

All thanks to God, Justwise, Frontpagelawyer and others on this thread who provided advices. I am most grateful.

I submitted my application online yesterday and I am billed for Interview on Tuesday (with my wife). I want to draft a cover letter and include in the application, kindly advise on the following:

- Who do i address the cover letter to?

-What and what do i need to state in the letter?

- Can i use one cover letter for the two of us?

Also, the kids are not travelling with us, do i need to include their birth certificates in the application?

How do I go about flight reservation as part of the requirement for visa application? I had tried doing the booking but all the sites I see (travel start.com) always require payment. I would want to be able to make reservation now and make payment after the visa has been granted. Anyone who could provide an expert advice please?

Not always good idea only if you have a very strong reason to do that else your next visa application will be tricky

Your Budget for 7 days is prudent. If granted the visa, you can decide to stay in the UK for two weeks.
You shouldn't have a problem at POE as there could be a change in your circumstances. The most important thing is to prove and be truthful to Immigration Officer (IO) that you will not overstay your visa.

If I reduce to 7 days as advised the costs will be:
Flight ticket for two: 340k
Hotel for two: 95k
Living cost for two:80k
Total is 515k.
Is this in order?
Secondly, if at the POE, they ask me why am I staying in the UK for two weeks(because my flight tickets will show when I plan to return) when I stated in the application that I plan to spend one week.

Total is 667k

I am almost done filling UK visa forms for my wife and I. I intend printing out the bank statement by Monday after making payment for the visa this weekend.

- Can i possibly book a visa appointment for this coming wednesday?

- we intend travelling 1st of november, is this not too close?

- I have heard people talk about cover letter, is it necassary? What do i need to puit in the cover letter If i need to?
- I will be sponsoring the trip, do i need to include my wife's bank statements?
- I want to use the Ikeja centre, is it true that it comes with an extra cost?how much is the extra cost and when do i get to pay it?
- Do i need to call my bank before i can make visa payment for the two of us for a six months visa with my naira debit card?
