The National Executive Committee of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has suspended its member, Actor Moses Armstrong following his arrest by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command over an allegation of defilement of a sixteen-year-old girl.
The statement released by the association stated that the actor’s suspension is indefinite.
The statement reads thus;
“Actor Moses Armstrong has been placed on indefinite suspension by the National Executive Committee of the Actors Guild of Nigeria over his arrest by the police on allegation of raping a minor.
In a suspension letter signed by the National President, Ejezie Emeka Rollas, Armstrong suspension was based on facts emanating from the preliminary investigations conducted by the Guild on the allegation.
Actors Guild Nigeria has been in the forefront of advocacy against violation of women, such as rape, molestation and all form of abuse therefore, the allegation against Moses Armstrong is capable of tarnishing the good image and reputation of our noble Guild if urgent action is not taken in accordance with the constitutional provisions of the Guild. National President, Ejezie Emeka Rollas said it is a sad development but nobody is above the law, especially on rape and abuse of women.
"Though it is our duty to protect our members but when it comes to serious allegations, the law will have to take its course", the President concluded.
While on suspension the actor is not expected to participate in any film production or Guild activities.
In addition, the National/State Chapter Taskforces have been mandated to monitor all film locations and production sets across the country as violation of the suspension rules may lead to further stiff disciplinary measures as stipulated by the AGN constitution."
NeroGaming: The young lady is seen in the video participating in the viral TikTok trend when her mom passed by her side and knowing what her daughter was on about, she at the very last moment, decided to join in.
Pakute: Since you know too well that men lack self control, then you accept whatever happens to you. That you deliberately or intentionally set up a man is a punishable offense before the law.
OyeofIkoTuN: If you were probably responsible and in your fathers house, husband's house, your own house, school.....we won't be hearing this..
Does that give men a reason to kill women because they weren't in their father's houses?
OyeofIkoTuN: Besides chidinma who killed a man in the hotel wasn't a guy...
She remains a suspect until the court declares her guilty.
OyeofIkoTuN: Never heard woman die ontop lover, always men..so shift abeg
Men ought to die na. Because they are the ones drugging themselves because of sex. Have you ever heard that a woman took drugs or drank any nonsense just to have sex?
Nollywood actor and singer, Moses Armstrong, has been arrested by the police in Akwa Ibom State for allegedly r@ping a 16-year-old girl.
The national president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, who confirmed his arrest on Thursday, June 16, in a chat with Qed.ng, described the case as “a very serious one”.
According to him, the case is being handled by the First Lady of the state, Martha Udom Emmanuel, through her Family Empowerment and Youth Re-Orientation Path Initiative.
The AGN president added that the accusation was a sad development, as it involves one of their own. However, he said the organisation will not condone such a crime.
“To get involved with a child as young as 16years, is not something I and the association I represent, would stand for. This is a very sad development involving a member of ours, but I wouldn’t want to comment any further on this case,” he said.
Armstrong until his arrest was a Special Assistant to the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel.
A man, identified only as Kayode, has committed suicide after his neighbour’s daughter accused him of raping her twice at their house in the Oja-Amukoko area of Lagos State.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the victim’s mother, who had a stroke, was taken to the Ikorodu area for treatment.
The suspect, who was put in care of the 16-year-old at home, was said to have taken advantage of her.
Her father said she accused Kayode of raping her twice, adding that he also seized her phone to prevent her from informing her family members.
He said, “My daughter stays with her mother, as both of us are no longer together. My ex-wife had been suffering from a stroke and from what we gathered, she had a neighbour, Kayode, who had been assisting to take care of her.
“But when my ex-wife’s sickness worsened, she was taken to Ikorodu for treatment and her daughter also followed her. As time went on, the neighbour had to go there to bring my daughter back to her mother’s house around Campus, Amukoko, so she could continue schooling.
“But she suddenly left her mother’s place and came to my place on Ojo Road. She said she wanted to continue staying with me till her mother recovered. About 20 minutes after she came, Kayode also came to my place and started saying he knew my daughter’s behaviour better than I did.
“He said if she was no longer staying at her mother’s house, he would have to return her to her mother in Ikorodu since he was the one who brought her home. He also said she came to stay at my place because she wanted freedom to go out and that he never had any agreement with her mother that she would be staying with me.”
After speaking with his ex-wife, the victim’s father said Kayode took his daughter back home but a few days later, he received a call from his ex-wife’s younger brother, who told him to go home to rescue his daughter.
He said, “I quickly rushed there, but I didn’t meet her at home. I called my ex-wife’s younger brother and he said he would soon join me at the place.
“After a few minutes, I saw my daughter and she informed me that Kayode raped her. She said she could not sleep alone in her mother’s apartment and that when she slept at Kayode’s apartment, he raped her twice and seized her phone.
“It was when she told Kayode that she wanted to contact her mum that he released his phone to her and instead of calling her mum, she used that opportunity to text her mum’s younger brother.
“So, we went to a police station and she explained to the policemen who said they could not hear only our side of the story. We went to pick up Kayode, but didn’t meet him at home. The policemen then directed us to do a medical test at Orege General Hospital. We were also asked to return the next day as they searched for him.
“The next day, I received a call that Kayode drank insecticide and died. They found him in the backyard of their house and rushed him to a hospital, where he was confirmed dead.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said Kayode’s brother reported to the command that he committed suicide.
He said, “The father of the girl, 16, reported that his wife’s co-tenant, Kayode, 41, defiled his daughter. After the report was made, policemen were detailed to arrest the suspect, but he was not seen.
“The investigation was ongoing when the suspect’s brother came to the station to report that Kayode committed suicide by drinking a substance suspected to be insecticide. The corpse was recovered but later released to the family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.”
A consultant psychiatrist at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, and founder, Asido Foundation, Dr Jibril Abdulmalik, described the incident as unfortunate.
He said, “Some people consider suicide to be a way out of facing shame and embarrassment. His death via suicide is unlikely to give solace to the young girl and her family, as it may not provide closure for them.
“But on the other hand, his actions may also be viewed as showing remorse and a form of atonement. The best approach is to ensure that the law takes its course.”
jonnieoneng: Is a pity, such laws will never find expression in this Country. However, not all Men are animals. I have 3 Daughters and 5 Sons, all of whom I love with my life.
I DARE ANY SON OF A BITCH TO HARM ANY SINGLE ONE OF THEM!
But that's just me being overtly protective of my Children. How I wish other parents will do same to their Children. We will have less Rape cases.
And you think the victim's parents weren't protective? We're they supposed to camp in the school with the girl?
dave601: Sister, sorry to trouble you: but jokes apart. When there's a problem, it would be an excellent idea to trace it to its root first. Like a good doctor would check if an headache is from malaria or high blood pressure.
See, a lot of such is going on and even Worse that are not reported or even noticed... From experience, I honestly don't like the way some male teachers relate with their female students.
Not to justify the man nor is evil act (I've been in his shoes as an educationist, also an English teacher in a secondary school then with minor to major Temptations without yielding "by God's grace" ).
The Main Problem—which is the Root cause—is the sources of Temptations which is always available for even children these days.
I'm talking of Molly, Golly, Folly, Jolly, Holly or Nollywood and other wood industries, in collaboration with the Real Danger: adult sites (aka porn sites) which are readily available to All today.
I was deeply hurt—being an helpless ex-victim of porn myself—when I got to know that a girl (8 or 9 years) I was teaching at some point was already exposed to porn. Her brother (jss2 boy) got some films from their cousin (an 100 level lady), which I guess incidentally included the perverted video(s). I was so hurt I had to tell her mum later.
How was I sure? Well, she was jokingly telling me that her bro. had lots of "hidden films" on the laptop—hmmm, hidden. Then I too stylishly asked, "hope they don't include people going "completely naked"? Then I knew there was danger...
I've worked with boys and girls in primary and secondary schools, and it's sad that seemingly many girls, even Primary school girls are already perverts through these films and bad videos going begging online.
Did you notice the girl didn't report by herself—her mum suspected... She might have actually enjoyed it, and she might not be a virgin even before the act.
I've experienced a bit of seduction from a 12 year old student before. Apparently, some girls of around 8, 12 years and above already have free or regular access to hard porn videos. So, what to expect?
Hence, in the case of your story, I perceive it is the case of a perverted adult and a perverted girl. The adult should know better, though. Even as a teacher.
In conclusion, there are male and female perverts: but males tend to resort to raping or abuse, while the females manage the tempting or seducing part. From experience, seduction is even possible from a Female parent to a Male teacher—adult female to a younger male: look at that.
Solution is to deal with the Root.
God bless.
She didn't report for fear. Are you telling me that the teacher was inspired by movie?
