zeeblamj: Hi guys. Sorry it has been quite a busy day. A guy from Nairaland was with me and we had studied a bit deutsch together.
About the Family reunion thing, there are two types. Family reunion for spouse(without kids) and just married, and one for the spouse and children. While living and working legally in Germany , ur spouse and children normal have the right to a residence permit in Germany. On rare occasions, such as pregnancy or small children u can also apply for a permit while already I Germany (on a tourist visa) . If the spouse was ever in Germany or any schengen state it makes it even easier to get the visa. With regards to the application u might have seen the things u need online. With the said documents, u would have to go to Lagos for an interview . This interview is short and really sometimes doesn't matter if u fail( it's ur right to get the visa) if denied u can even get a lawyer depending on what reasons u were given. The spouse in Germany has to have enough living space if u are moving with children and a good job. The interviewer might ask u little questions about your relationship though. 1. When did u meet ur spouse? 2: when and where did u have ur first date? 3: how much does he/she give u for ur upkeep? 4: how long was the courtship before the marriage? 5: is this an arranged marriage? 6: do u speak German? 7: a small oral test will be done by him or her just to be sure that u have atleast a1 in German. 8: what city are u moving to? 8: when was ur spouse born? Sometimes they ask some irrelevant questions depending on how u reply to previous questions. After submitting All original documents of all documents including primary school cert as well as immunization card, they might still ask for a letter from the hospital u were born stating that ur birth certificate is authentic. Within 2-3 months later a lawyer is sent by the German consulate to inquire about u with regards to the documents u have presented. He/she might come to your house and also that of the witnesses to the marriage, previous schools attended and hospital u were born. After this is over, the reports and advise of the lawyer is submitted to the embassy. The embassy then sends all these info to the aliens authority and marriage registry in ur intended city. They normally should be a notification that ur verification is complete if not, contact the embassy and find out. The spouse in Germany should then contact the aliens office in ur city to find out the official handling ur case. This person should be bothered otherwise u might even wait a year for ur files to be opened. Both the spouse in Germany and the partner in Nigeria should have the mail of the person in charge. The office of ur aliens office will contact ur spouse to come for an interview with them. He/ she will be asked questions which u were asked. They should correspond otherwise they might think it is a scam and then it takes even longer. After this is done, in a few weeks u should get a mail from the embassy that ur visa is approved. It's a three months visa. When u arrive in Germany u must book an appointment with the aliens office and go there to register that u are now in the city. U will need a letter from ur landlord stating that it is ok for the family to live at his house and bla bla bla. U can mail the landlord about it before hand. U will then apply for the residence permit which u will get in a few weeks after ur arrival. I hope this helps. It's quite a long process and it's hard to explain. Email me though if u need more info. Regarding anything. Can the wife of a student work? |

This is what the Embassy is now sending out to those booking appointments now.
Dear Sir! Thank you for your email. Your admission letter states that your study starts on 5 of October, 2015. The next available date for student visa appointment is September 29th. The student visa processing time takes 4-6 weeks. You will be late for your studies and I would therefore advise you to contact your university and see if it is possible to defer your admission to the upcoming summer semester 2016 so you have sufficient time to credit your blocked account and apply for your visa. However, if you insist, we will of course give you a student visa appointment nevertheless, but note that it will be waste of your money and time. kingsleymike: My form A experience today with Union Bank Festac town, Lagos Due to delays by GTBank, I decided to switch banks. Got to the Union bank last Tuesday, upon up a savings account and initiated the Form A transaction. Got a debit alert today for the total sum BUT AT A WHOPPING EXCHANGE RATE OF 231.50 NAIRA FOR 1 EURO. I have already placed a call to the officer and he told me politely he doesn't like dealing with official issues after working hours but that he's sure that is the right exchange rate. From experience I am aware that CBN Form A transactions should be treated with the CBN prevailing rate of that day which as at today stood at 219 Naira for 1 Euro.
My question is, for those who have done theirs, how much exchange rate was used for your transaction? I need answers because I am heading right back to the bank 1st thing on Monday for explanations. I need to make a good case that's why I your contribution. Thank you all in advance. This includes bank charges too and talex fee, You should be happy your form A worked cos other could abd were buying euros at 268 anf you goy 230.5 so be grateful |

handyteddy: Nigerians in Norway are few, and you'll want to avoid countries like that. Germany is better, but there is language barrier and like you said racism is a major problem especially for a minor If you have the funds you can seek admission in LITHUANIA: kaunas university of technology
IRELAND: griffith college dublin national university of ireland
LONDON: london metropolitan university
...if you pay your fees, you'll have little problems
BUT
My best advise is to tackle the problems you have with CIC and refire, you have a upper hand
Get a Mentoring Service from www.sasscanada.com
Get a detailed SOP with a long term prospect Just let us know if you really wish to REFIRE,, we'll help you with your documentation
Ps: avoid using agent, most re inexperienced Good Luck I am studying in German and have also visited Canada from here. Stop all this racism talk which i have never experience here. Canada that is not racist why have they not given you free tuition like Germany? |

thesoj: The Nairaland German travel thread will be a better place to ask this question. In any case, my understanding is that south and west Germany are really good places for International students (including Africans). East Germany can be a whole different story however (except maybe Berlin, Leipzig, and a few others). I sometimes follow the Nairaland German thread as I have a family member in Naija also eyeing it as a backup plan to Canada. Plus Germany has no tuition and they require you have just 8040 Euros per year for living expenses. Also international students have work permits, just like in Canada. And I hear it is easy to get a work permit and job after graduation especially if you are in the sciences or engineering.
Germany has many English language masters programs, but much fewer such undergrad programs except in a few science subjects. Go to daad.de/en and search. The German thread is incredibly good... the ogas there like @eke40seven (he is doing his MSc in Germany) will answer your questions. I tried Canada with no positive outcome on visa. I was suppose to pay 14 dollars school fees in Canada. When somebody told me I can even study in Germany with English and is 100% free of charge plus free public transport and train, I rush apply for German student visa and admission and today I have no regret. I work and send money home rather than using the money to pay school fees. Information is power. |

scofield03: M y fellow #team bremen. I hope you have paid your semester fee. I have been disappointed by our Nigerian banks ooo. Read my story:
I went to a nearby access bank branch in ikorodu to pay for the semester fee last week Wednesday. After many pressure on the branch manager to initiate the transfer, he said they will initiate it, I waited till Monday evening no feedback. I headed straight to Fidelity HQ to open acct and pay the fees plus blocked account on Tuesday. Madam Adeola said the semester fee will fly' but the blocked account cannot fly' saying I need a letter from my school stating the cost of living on a letter headed paper. I had to carry on with the semester fee processing. meanwhile I sent a mail to my schools to help with the letter. From Fidelity, I head to First Bank Headqtrs in Marina (221.78 to an euro as at Tuesday), I showed them my credentials for blocked account, they said its okay that they can make my money fly'.
This morning on my way to fidelity to enquire about my transaction, I received a mail from FBnk that my transaction was declined. Reason: they need a proof of payment of semester fee. On getting to Madam Adeola, she said they are lack of FUNDS (I don't really undstand what she meant) until they hear from CBN. meanwhile semester fee deadline is August 15th. From there I went to confirm the mail I got from First Bank by meeting the transferring officer. He said if I can provide the evidence of payment there wouldn't be issue. I considered creating a new transaction with first bank to pay the semester fee since they have funds in treasury, which I did! though fidelity own is still in process. I don't want to take any risk that's why I opened the transaction in two banks (whichever one succeed first I will stick with and withdraw from the other account). I don't know if it has any consequence.
Advice to those that are yet to fund should get all necessary document in advance especially the letter from the school.
my question is, If this transaction is not successful tomorrow (which I believe will) what will be the consequence in Bremen and do I need to let my school know situation of things? please I need your input .
@ Nellyb24 you are mouthed for securing that Earth Science admission, I fear' when I saw the 10 limited slots when I wanted to apply then. International transfers are given extra 3 days for delays. I suggest you contact your friends in Germany, pay in the money into their naira account which we can even use our zenith bank or GTbank master card to withdraw here. Then they can help pay it here. |

Ahbbiey: I do believe that the sponsor needs to work and reside (lawfully) in Germany.
I do not think your uncles in Switzerland can write you a sponsorship letter.
If they are willing to help they can give you the funds for the blocked account and you can pay them installmentally (this is going to take a long time if they ask you to pay back).
Else there isn't much they can do for you. The uncle can go to German Embassy in Switzerland and get the letter. |

aibee01: Alhamdulilah............ interview done but not yet dusted because i (we) have to go back tomorrow for the capturing of our biometrics as their network was down.
It was only us (4) for student visa that was interviewed. I was interviewed by the young Nigerian Lady and the only added question apart from the normal questions we all familiar with was the party which the president and chancellor of Germany belongs to and the date they assume office.
After my interview i asked her about the issue of changing your means of sustenance from blocked account to sponsorship after been interviewed and she replied that its not possible as the application will have been processed under the condition of a blocked account. (so anybody trying to do that should mail the embassy before hand because i believed there might be exemption).
lastly, jokingly i asked her Ma can i book for my flight ticket...,she replied that i should just hold on though she understands its cheaper to book ahead.....but i should just please hold on...
conclusion..: if you are on nairaland you can't flop this interview... @pompido (my oga) nice meeting you today.... @Efe.....the ghost follower by His grace you will soon be unghost by the success of your Visa application...
Godwin's He always does #Teamkiel #Teamwinter First asking her if you can book your flight after your interview does not show mature attitude and somehow reflects desperation. You should have asked her also about changing from block account to sponsorship. it implies you don't know what you want or what your are doing and shows seriousness. Remember the decision is in her hands (although in God's hands) but dont toil with visa officers. |
