Christianity EtcKenyan Lawyer Takes State Of Israel, Jews To Hague Over Jesus' Death by fydence(op): 9:48pm On Jul 30, 2013
A Kenyan lawyer has filed a petition with the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, suggesting that the trial and crucifixion of Jesus Christ was unlawful, and The State of Israel among others should be held responsible, Kenyan news outlet the Nairobian reported on Friday.

Dola Indidis, a lawyer and former spokesman of the Kenyan Judiciary is reportedly attempting to sue Tiberius (Emperor of Rome 42 BC-37AD), Pontius Pilate, a selection of Jewish elders, King Herod, the Republic of Italy and the State of Israel.

"Evidence today is on record in the bible, and you cannot discredit the bible," Indidis told Kenyan Citizen News.

Yes, those he suggests should have been convicted during the original trial have not been alive for more than 2000 years, however Indidis insists that the government for whom they acted can and should still be held responsible.

“I filed the case because it’s my duty to uphold the dignity of Jesus and I have gone to the ICJ to seek justice for the man from Nazareth,” Indidid told the Nairobian. “His selective and malicious prosecution violated his human rights through judicial misconduct, abuse of office bias and prejudice.”

Indidis apparently named the states of Italy and Israel in the lawsuit because upon the attainment of independence, the two states incorporated the laws of the Roman Empire, those in force at the time of the Crucifixion.

He is challenged the mode of questioning used during Jesus' trial, prosecution, hearing and sentencing; the form of punishment meted out on Him while undergoing judicial proceedings and the substance of the information used to convict him.

The case was first filed in the High Court in Nairobi, but was rejected. Indidis had then applied to have it heard at the ICJ, which, the Kenyan news website Standard Media (SDE) reported constituted a pre-trial panel that would consider his case.

Indidis says he wants to establish what crime Jesus was charged with and prays that the court decides “that the proceedings before the Roman courts were a nullity in law for they did not conform to the rule of law at the material time and any time thereafter.”

“Some of those present spat in his face, struck him with their fists, slapped him, taunted him, and pronounced him worthy of death,” Indidis also told SDE.

When Jesus died, Indidis insists he was not given an opportunity to be heard. "I am suing as a friend," he said.

Indidis insisted on the validity of his case, saying "I know with a matter of fact and truth we have a good case with a high probability of success and I hope it is done in my lifetime."

When asked about the case, a spokesperson from the IJC told legal news website Legal Cheek, "The ICJ has no jurisdiction for such a case. The ICJ settles disputes between states. It is not even theoretically possible for us to consider this case."

CrimeHeroic Police Officer Chases Robbers, Recovers Money by fydence(op): 9:49pm On Jul 21, 2013
The robbers, riding on a lower engine motor-bike, snatched a money bag containing N150,000 from the victim [pictured in orange shirt] as he walked out of a bank in heart of the Area 3 part of town.

The victim's calls for help drew the attention of the police officer, Abu Tanko, a police motorcycle rider attached to the Force Headquarters Abuja.

Mr Tanko swiftly chased the robbers as they fled off with the cash. After few kilometers, at a point around the neighbouring Area 8, he caught with the robbers. The the robbers flung the money bag and ran away as he slowed down to pick up the bag.

Heroic Mr. Tanko returned to the scene about 15 minutes later with the whole sum of money intact and handed it in the bewildered owner before a cheering crowd.

Nigerian police officers are notorious for corruption and instability around money, forcing most Nigerians to rely on self-help or alternative security.

"It is an indication that there are still a few ones out there," the force said in a Facebook post it made about the heroic officer. "All hope is not yet lost!"

PoliticsJonathan, Obasanjo In Closed-door Meeting by fydence(op): 8:36pm On Jul 21, 2013
Abeokuta - President Goodluck Jonathan and former president Olusegun Obasanj, on Saturday held a closed-door meeting in Abeokuta, the Ogun capital.

The meeting, which was held at Obasanjo’s hilltop residence, commenced at about 11.52 a.m. and lasted for about two hours.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that security was tightened around Obasanjo’ residence ahead of the president’s arrival.

Jonathan left Obasanjo’s residence at 1.28 p.m. and headed for the family house of Dr Reuben Abati, the Special Adviser to the president on media and publicity.

He went there to pay a condolence visit over the death of Mrs Taiwo Abati, the mother of his aide.

Almost immediately after the president’s departure from Obasonjo’s residence, four governors from the northern part of the country arrived at the former president’s residence to hold a separate meeting with him.

The governors are Aliyu Wammako (Sokoto), Murtala Nyako (Adamawa), Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano) and Sule Lamido (Jigawa).

The meeting which was also held behind closed doors , lasted for about an hour.

Nyako, who addressed journalists after the meeting described Obasanjo as the most accomplished Nigeria adding: “and he will remain as such ever.”

“We have come to consult him with him on important matters,” he added. (NAN)

PoliticsPDP Expels Governor Amaechi by fydence(op): 8:26pm On Jul 21, 2013
A faction of the People’s Democratic Party, loyal to President Goodluck Jonathan, has announced the expulsion of Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi from the party.

The announcement came less than 24 hours after eight Nigerian governors in the putative All Progressives Congress, advised Amaechi to meet with President Goodluck Jonathan and brief him on the security crisis rocking the state.

The faction accused Amaechi of leading the opposition and of being a member of the yet to be registered APC, ” to achieve what it called a “Vice-Presidential ambition.”

Ibibia Walters, secretary of the faction declared at a Press Conference in Port Harcourt yesterday:

“The PDP therefore bids him farewell from the party and also wishes him well in his future endeavours with the yet to be registered A.P C,while calling all and sundry to rally round President Goodluck Jonathan”

Walters accused the governor of flagrant abuse of office, claiming that the people of the state were dismayed that the Governor now basks in euphoria of his new found role as the leader of opposition in the country as demonstrated by the solidarity visit of governors from the north.

The party also took a swipe at the Governor’s relationship with Professor Wole Soyinka and some opposition Governors, who they said have turned Amaechi’s “ mouthpiece”.

Walters accused Amaechi of funnelling the state’s funds into the hands of fellow opposition members, ”forgetting that everything one does has a price.”

They also slammed him of dramatically arranging the suspension of the executive chairman, the Vice Chairman and the seventeen Councillors of the Obio-Akpor Local Government through the State House of Assembly.

PoliticsNorthern Youths Shortlist 60 Candidates For President by fydence(op): 7:50am On Jul 19, 2013
The Arewa Youth Movement, after a rigorous screening exercise, has listed 60 Nigerians, most of them of northern extraction, to succeed Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as President of the Federal republic of Nigeria. These are persons they believe can tackle the present level of underdevelopment, insecurity and disunity in the country.
Although the nominees cut across different ideological orientations and political parties, they are mainly liberals, progressives and even radicals. Three names have been selected from each state, on the basis of geo-political representation and considerations that favour merit as well as ethnic, gender and religious inclusiveness. Clearly, some states have stronger candidates than others, and the process is continuous, based on agreed criteria for further pruning.
In drawing up the list, consideration was also given to leaders from different vocational backgrounds. Additional criteria included credibility, good education, consistency, reasonable levels of low or lack of corruption, public sector experience, patriotism, national and international acceptability, and firmness and strength of character to implement fundamental development projects.
The Movement is very optimistic that one of its nominees will emerge as the next President of Nigeria, after a continuing process of processing, including public debates and public scrutiny of the potentials of the candidates. The other nominees will then be expected to support the winner to run the country well on the basis of collective leadership.
If for any reason, the President is to come from the South, three nominees:

PoliticsAmaechi Pledges Sustained Support For Police by fydence(op): 6:11am On Jul 19, 2013
PORT HARCOURT— GOVERNOR Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, has reaffirmed his administration’s continued support for the Nigeria Police as a strategic partner in keeping law and order in the state.

The governor made the pledge during the fund raising for the Christian Police Chapel Building organised by Christian Police Fellowship of Nigeria, CPFN, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, recently.

Represented by his deputy, Mr. Tele Ikuru, the governor said: “For the sacrifice officers and men of the Nigeria Police made in helping us fight criminality and restore law and order in the state when we came in, we will continue to support them.

“We were the first to send 300 policemen to Israel to undergo advanced security training and those policemen today constitute the backbone of the new Police Force that is able to fight crime effectively.”

The governor expressed delight at the Police gathering to build for God, adding “we want to reassure you (Police) that the Rivers State Government is your partner.”

If you hate the west so much, why did you receive western education? Y do you have a fone? Why do you watch TV? Why do you wear cloths?

Look, weda you like it or not.. The west owns you and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it..

I'l rather be with America than be with China or Russia or India or middle east.

Every nigerian runs to Europe or America. You can hate the west all you want but the west is the very air you breath..

You just want to give yourself a reason to hate? Keep hating.. That has never and would never stop the west from progressing..
You can hate all you want.

NYSCFake ‘youth Corper’ To Serve In Prison by fydence(op): 8:45pm On Jul 04, 2013
A suspected fake National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, member, Opeyemi Ajala, 34, has been remanded in prison custody after he was arrested by the police at Dolphin Division, Ikoyi, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, and charged to court.

He allegedly told the police that he was contracted by Olotu Osayowanon now at large to help him serve the one year compulsory scheme with an agreement that he would be paying him N19,000 monthly.

Trouble started for Opeyemi, a resident of 25, Jebba Street, Ebute Meta, Lagos on 27 June, 2013 when he went to the Ikoyi/Obalende LCDA, Ikoyi, Lagos to register for the one year NYSC compulsory scheme as a graduate.During screening, the officer in charge of the programme reportedly discovered that all the documents he presented were fake.

The fake documents found on him, according to the police include forged death certificate of one Osarogie Olotu, Acceptance Letter from Eti Osa LCDA, BA Certificate from the University of New Castle, United Kingdom and NYSC call up letter.

During preliminary questioning by the NYSC officials about how he came about the documents bearing different names and not his name, he allegedly said someone contracted him to serve for him.

The NYSC officials reported him to the DPO of Dolphin Estate Division, Ikoyi S.P Musa Abdullahi who directed his men to arrest the suspect and take him to the station.

In his confessional statement to the police, Opeyemi allegedly said: “I am a jobless man and my father and mother died a few years ago, and since I passed out from the school of Fishery and Marine Technology in 2009, I have not been able to get a job.

“One day, I went to the NYSC camp at Ipaja, Lagos, where I met Olotu Osayowanon who approached me to help him serve his one year compulsory NYSC scheme because he graduated in London.

“He provided me with all the NYSC uniform and kits and he agreed to be paying me N19,000 every month and out of frustration I accepted the offer before I was arrested. I promise not to indulge in such crime again.”

After investigation by Corporal Miracle Ikyav, Ajala was charged before an Igbosere Magistrate’s court on three count charge of felony, to wit, impersonating and forgery.

The offences, the prosecutor Supol E. Ekuma said contravened Sections 409,380 and 374 of the criminal laws of Lagos State 2011.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge, and Chief Magistrate Mrs. O.O. Oshin admitted him on bail in the sum of N150, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the matter till 30 July, 2013 for mention.

The defendant was taken to Ikoyi Prison pending when he would fulfil the bail conditions.

RomanceTwo Mad People In Public Romantic Display by fydence(op): 6:17pm On Jul 03, 2013
While the Accra Psychiatric Hospital is threatening to discharge its inmates due to lack of resources, two mentally-challenged lovebirds are causing a stir in Accra by often kissing, caressing and playing romance in public making them the most talked-about couple in town.

Sometimes the two are seen having their share of the usual
misunderstanding between lovers where the woman goes nagging and the man tries to calm her down. The two are often seen at the Accra High Street (now known as the Atta Mills High Street), Independence Avenue and the Ring Road Central area.

Over the weekend, NEWS-ONE cameras caught the two while they openly kissed and caressed themselves right in front of the SG-SSB Bank at the Nima Junction Traffic Light near the Nima Police Station. Though the two lovers did not get to the extent of bonking, they kissed, caressed and fondled themselves intermittently in the open for close to half an hour.

Just before they started unleashing their libido, the female was seen complaining angrily about something while the man was calming her down. Each time the female complained and threw her hands in the air, to register her anger, the male counterpart would signal her to calm down and let matters die off.

At a point in time, she took off her clothes covering the upper part of her body but her lover convinced her to put it on after which they embraced each other and started their love adventure. They then continued their stroll on the isle of the Ring Road towards the King Tackie Tawiah Overpass but mid-way, they turned back and walked towards the Kwame Nkrumah Circle as onlookers enjoyed every bit of the spectacle.

Not too long ago, the couple were seen on the Accra High Street in a near distress as the man went from vehicle to vehicle begging for GH¢1to buy food for the female. While the male was begging for the money, the female was following him and complaining that she wanted to eat gari and beans.

When a Good Samaritan finally gave the male an amount of GH¢1, the female immediately started clapping and jumping in jubilation and hugged the male. They then walked hand-in-hand to a food vendor nearby to buy some food.

The leadership of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry has suspended the son of the General Superintendent of the church and his wife, John and Love Kumuyi from carrying out any activity in the church over their recent controversial wedding in Jamaica.

John and Love wedded in Jamaica on 15 June, 2013 and thousands of members of the church have reacted sharply while condemning the wedding gown worn by the wife and other aspects of the wedding that were at variance with the church’s standard.

She was decked in attires quite different from the acceptable standard set for Deeper Life members by the church.

Love was arrayed in flowing gown with a veil to match, while lots of people said her hair wasn’t natural and that she applied lipstick as part of the make-up.

Also at issue was the hiring of a Limousine which conveyed the couple to their destination after the wedding. And a huge cake was cut during the wedding contrary to the church’s tradition.

Due to the myriad of controversies generated by the wedding on social media, Facebook, especially by members of Deeper Life, the church decided to place the couple on suspension to give them time to pray and seek forgiveness from God for their action.

On Saturday, at Deeper Life’s monthly miracle and revival programme held at the Deeper Life Conference Centre, DLCC, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, John and Love’s suspension from church work was announced to the over 50,000 Deeper Life faithful at the event by Pastor Philip Oluwi, a key leader in the church.

Oluwi, certainly is acting on the instruction from the General Superintendent of the church, Pastor William Kumuyi, to suspend the couple for the embarrassment they brought upon the church during the wedding, emphasizing that the standard of Deeper Life regarding wedding and moderacy had not changed.

“The church, Deeper Life, remains committed to the biblical practice and standard of almost 40 years Christian dressing and still remains and does not compromise on biblical Christian dressing.

“Hence, deviation warrants the displeasure and frown of God and the leadership of the church. John and Love are now under discipline,” Oluwi announced to the entire congregation, an action that helped to calm the nerves of many Deeper Life faithful.

Also, the couple has apologized to the church for the embarrassing way the wedding was conducted. The letter was read by Oluwi and re-read severally to church members by the Church’s Secretary, Pastor Jerry Asemota.

The letter addressed to the Church Secretary, with the heading: “Letter of Apology,” expressed the deepest regret of the couple for bringing the church into disrepute.

The letter reads: “We unreservedly and wholeheartedly state that we did not intend and do not intend that our act or omissions in any way undermine the great work that God has done through the Deeper Christian Life Ministry through our father in the Lord, the General Superintendent.

“We also use this medium to profusely and sincerely apologize to the General Superintendent (Kumuyi) of the church for the embarrassment and heartache our action has caused him; more so as he had earlier declined to be at the event. We acknowledge that we may have been distracted by cultural differences as we both have lived outside Nigeria for nearly two decades.”

The letter added: “This notwithstanding, we fully accept that having been nurtured, taught and brought up with the sound teaching of the word of God, we should have been able to draw the line which we failed to do. We have now realized the far reaching effect of our actions and omissions and do plead with the church for forgiveness and also appeal that any action that should be taken be directed at John and Love, as we take this time to prayerfully reflect on our actions.

“We take full responsibility for what has happened and this action should in no way be blamed on the General Superintendent or the leaders of the church in Nigeria, United States, Jamaica, or United Kingdom and beyond.”

However, P.M.NEWS investigation revealed that John and Love’s wedding was not conducted in a Deeper Life Bible Church. It was also not conducted by pastors from the church as Deeper Life Bible Church in Jamaica has not been licensed by the country’s government to join couples in wedlock, according to the laws of Jamaica.

The wedding was taken to another church where the ministers in the unnamed church conducted the wedding and joined them in holy matrimony.

Besides, Deeper Life leaders that came from Nigeria were said to have disapproved of the earlier gown Love was to wear for the wedding, while another was hurriedly sewed the night before the wedding.

Church leaders were said not to have seen the new dress until the couple was marching into the church and by then, it was too late to take any action as the wedding was not conducted in a Deeper Life church.
