Ijaws are certainly not the number one in SS.
Even Bayelsa which was carved out for them, they still share it with other tribes. For example, the Ogbia people are not Ijaws. Just google about the Ogbia language and see for yourself. Google also about the Epie-Atissa people of Yenagoa.
From my calculation, only the Ibibo-Efik-Annang combination can rival the Igbo population of the SS. If you remove Annang, Igbo is clearly the largest.
The Edoid on paper should be the largest but it's impossible to unite the Edoid together as a unit. The language intelligibility is not there and can't be bridged.

1. Akwa Ibom.... we have the Ndoki group there.
2. Bayelsa..... we have the Ukwuani and Ekpeye groups there.
3. Cross River.... we have the Isobo and Ikwo groups there.
4. Delta.... we have the Ika, Ukwuani, [Aniocha and Oshimili] Enuani groups there.
5. Edo.... we have the Ika group there.

Indigenous Igbos in the South South are huge.

The indigenous Igbos in CRS are called isobo in obubra lga and occupy just 5 Hamlets.i already counted the delta igbos.yes,I know the igbos in Edo(igbanke),very insignificant.i already counted igbos in rivers.i have excluded ikwerre please as they see themselves as a separate entity and government recognizes that.let us not argue that one or you go and open your thread.

Andoni, Abolga, Onelga and PHlga has non single Ijaw or Ijoid community. Name just one single Ijaw community in any of these LGAs let's check them out either on Youtube or books online.
Degema, Okrika, Opobo, Bonny, Ogu/Bolo are shared between Ijaw and others mostly Igbo except in Degema where you find the Edoid people of Udekama and Usokun. Ahoada West is shared between Igboid(Ekpeye), Edoid(Engenni) and Ijoid(Ogbogolo).
Only Asari Toru and Akuku Toru (these are the main Kalabari LGAs) are nearly entirely Ijoid and even there, there is one or two mixed communities with indigenous Igbos.
Ijaw/Ijoid population in Rivers state isn't that much. At most, I'll give them 700,000 at most.

Let us make it 1 million.even at 700k,they are still number 1 in ss

No division. If you split groups according to their perceived identities, then you shouldn't add all anioma groups as Igbos, and all Ijaw groups as Ijaws. Most of these people see themselves as their own unique identity.

For better debate. You classify the Efik/Ibibio-anang as one. And nothing wrong classifying the Urhobo/Isoko as one. They are from the same stock and should be classified as one.

If you split these groups, you'd have up-to 100's of tribe which will make your debate cumbersome. For a start, aside the ibibios, there is no group that outnumbers the Urhobos. If we are to go by the identity in which these groups identify themselves with.

Rephrase your OP and get it done then right way. Ibibio-anang-Efik. Edoid, Ijoid. Etc

Of all these groups, Efik/ Ibibio are the largest occupying two state and together numbering about 8million.

Igbos come second occupying 70% of rivers state and 34% of Delta state with minority in cross River, Ika LGA of Akwa Ibom and Igbanke in Edo state. Together they number about 7.5million.

Third is Edoid groups of Bini, Afemai, Esan Urhobo, Itshekiri,Isoko etc occupying Edo and about 14 LGA of Delta state and a minority in Bayelsa. They number about 7. 3 million.

Fourth is Ijoid occupying Bayelsa (only 8 LGA) and about 2 LGA in Rivers and about 3 LGA in Delta.
Note Riverine area of Rivers state is diverse. A lot of area being ascribe to Ijaw are far from being so. Ijaw number about 4million people.

Other minority in South South are
Ogoni
Abua etc

1.6m lgbos in Delta ? Do you know the estimated population of Delta state ? It currently stands at 7m and anioma having 9 out of 25 local government should tell you something.
Igbos can't be less than 2.5m in Delta state, also consider that about 300k igbos from south east resides in Delta state.

As for Rivers, I don't know anything about that side and I don't chuck my mouth in what I don't know but generally I believe that igboid tribe are no 1 in terms of population in south south
