The process of Garri making as I read on this post, is accurate to the extent of being a paper work.

Hands- on production dictates certain technicalities which include reducing the cyanide to tolerable level and this involves among others, proper fermentation. This can't be achieved in six hours as quoted. Fermentation takes days.

This is what I do with my hands. and I am talking from real real experience

fermentation may and not not take place.

Fermentation is a way of reducing the cyanide and not removing it.

Fermentation is when u allow the starchy water react with the cyanide to reduce it.

Yellow garri needs almost no fermentation. It is placed on press after grating.

Many thought fermentation takes place on the press...no, it doesn't.

So, what removes the application of heat.

The six hour I referred to is the pressing time and not the whole processing time. But in case of yellow garri, six hours is enuff to apply heat.

if you don't have any machine to process your gari as a starter you can use someone processing plant all you need is negotiation and this varies from locations and also depends on the type of equipment in such plant.

TME 419 can be processed to gari. it's also white colour gari.

Before you agree on a price with an existing factory...

1. Know if you are using a stainless or non stainless


2. Do your research to know how much other pay. It may be by tonnage or per machine.

1) What basic equipment do I need?
2) Where can I source them at good prices in the Offa area/Kwara state?
3) Cost profile, and any other relevant information?
4) Starch is a by product of Garri processing, how to I make money from it too?
