Tolexander: common garri! The guy isn't short sighted but myopic.
Just because he is made a moderator, that is why he is trying to pretend to repent of the statement.

Yeah, I know his antics...

As you can see things are shaping up. All thanks to the postive direction Nairaland is towing.

I remember what some folks said about 2 months ago... cool cool

Afam4eva: I really don't take a lot of things on Nairaland seriously. No wonder Nairaland has never won any award while the likes of Linda Ikeji, Bella naija etc have won tons of award. This site has become a tribal assembly where tribal warlord congregate and join their hands in fellowship to spread hate and bigotry. Even the mods are also promiting hate and tribalism through their direct and indirect encouragement and inciting machinations.....

berem: I have never heard Nairaland being mentioned on TV or Radio.I never read about it on nigerian dailies.why because it is a forum where the owner has made it a place to promote ethnic bigotry. Too Bad!! What a shame!

Afam4eva:
That's my point exactly. You would hear of Linda Ikeji and Bella Naija on TV and Radio stations but not Nairaland. Why? This is a question the owners of this site need to start asking themselves.

pato405: they deserve what they got and even more. Some people are just notorious when it comes to nonchalance and annoying attitude of coming late. dont be surprised, many of them attended school (from primary to Uni) as late-comers and now, NYSC to repeat same usual late-coming. they'll get jobs, and prolly continue with their lateness. ALWAYS late. their types are countless in civil service. work resumes 8am but they are never there by 8, rather they come in 10 am and leave 2pm. grin

Your comment is‎ very senseless!!

Only a BIG F00L like yourself will see nothing wrong in this uncivilised treatment..

Obiora4life: Since this was a show rather than a sympathetic move, if I was the federal govt, I would have instructed ALL and I mean ALL security agencies not to provide escort to them. Anyone found violating such other will face 15years in jail. At least let us see how they would have gone there without escorts. Knowingly trying to jeopardize security all in the name of show is just callousness... Anyway, GEJ has learned, they want to pay another visit, perhaps this time, the APC NL supporters will provide the security.

What's this one saying??

Politics / Re: Lagos Economy Rated Above Ghana, UK - Fashola by GARRIx10: 7:57am On Mar 06, 2013
Sincere 9gerian:
Even if all the governors didn't support the tour when it was deliberated at Nigerians Governors Forum, but the fact that majority supported it in the forum should imply that the minority that opposed the idea during deliberation should fall in line. Isn't that the essence of an association such as NGF? If decisions taken after deliberation at the NGF cannot be abided by all parties what then is the essence of NGF?

Assuming we take Fashola's word that he opposed the idea during deliberation at NGF, why didn't he state make his opposition public then (mid last yr)? Why now? Why wait until the tour has gone half way before making his opposition public?

From all indications, the opposition to the tour by Southwest governors is an after thought. They'r afraid of the positive publicity the programme is generating nationwide

The bolded like most of your posts doesn't make any sense. He's not accountable to NGF but to. Lagosians (afterall it's their money that will be spent on the jamboree). If resolutions passed at the level of NGF won't be in the best interest of his people, then he is‎ free to ignore such..

Meanwhile Lagosians are not complaining about Fashola's stand on the GGT issue..

Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku's assertion that the ongoing national good governance tour was muted at the Governors' Forum, said it did not mean all the governors supported the initiative.

Its now obvious that contrary to what LIARbaran Maku said, some Governors (e.g.) Oshiomole and Fashola didn't support the GGT..

the economy of Lagos is now rated ahead of Ghana and the United Kingdom

I'm interested in the criteria used in this rating mentioned by Mr. Fashola.

Anyway, well done Mr. Governor on your 89% budget implementation. How I wish the PDP-led FG can score up to half of that...

Health / Baby Born With Encephalocele In Katsina by GARRIx10: 8:41pm On Mar 05, 2013

Malumfashi (Katsina State) – A baby girl with what appears to be two heads has been delivered at the General Hospital, Malumfashi, Katsina State.

The baby has also has a cleft palate and stunted fingers.

The 19-year-old Zainabu Dahiru gave birth to the baby with no eyes on Sunday night.

The baby’s father, Malam Dahiru Umar, at his residence at Unguwar-Sodangi in Malumfashi on Tuesday that the baby was born through normal delivery.

Umar, a 25-year-old petty trader, said the baby was their first and his wife attended regular ante-natal care during pregnancy.

He said he burst into tears on sighting the baby and sympathetic hospital workers told him that they could not offer any medical assistance beside the delivery.

He said the workers informed him that his wife was in stable condition and referred the baby to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika, near, Zaria.

Umar appealed to government, wealthy individuals and non governmental organisation’s for support.

Meanwhile, effort to speak with Medical Director of the General Hospital failed.

However, a paediatrician, Dr Ahmad Bala, who spoke to NAN, said the baby needed maximum medical examination to ascertain the nature of the abnormalities.

Bala said the medical examination would include physical checks, X-ray and other diagnosis that would equipped a physician to speak properly on the matter at hand and possible remedies.

The new born baby and her mother were still at home.

When shown the photograph of the baby, a gynaecologist at the Garki Hospital, Abuja, Dr Kayode Obende, said the condition was called encephacele.

According to Wikipedia, the free encycopaedia, encephalocele is a neural tube defect characterised by sac-like protrusions of the brain and the membranes that cover it through openings in the skull. These defects are caused by failure of the neural tube to close completely during fetal development.

Encephaloceles cause a groove down the middle of the skull, or between the forehead and nose, or on the back side of the skull.

The severity of encephalocele varies, depending on its location.

Encephaloceles occur rarely, at a rate of one per 5,000 live births worldwide.

Encephaloceles of the back of the head are more common in Europe and North America, while encephaloceles on the front of the head more frequently occur in Southeast Asia, Africa, Malaysia, and Russia.

Ethnic, genetic, and environmental factors, as well as parental age, can all affect the likelihood of encephaloceles.

The condition can occur in families with a family history of spina bifida.

Although the exact cause is unknown, encephaloceles are caused by failure of the neural tube to close completely during foetal development. Research has indicated that teratogens (substances known to cause birth defects), trypan blue (a stain used to colour dead tissues or cells blue), and arsenic may damage the developing foetus and cause encephaloceles.

Proper levels of folic acid have been shown to help prevent such defects when taken before pregnancy, and early in pregnancy. It is recommended that women who may become pregnant take 400 micrograms of folic acid daily. (NAN)
