You have understand Yoruba paranoia concerning Lagos. Lagos is the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria, may be even West Africa. If Lagos had not been in Yoruba land, what would Yorubas have to boast about? Is it Abeokuta? Is it Akure? Or may be Ibadan?

There is nothing spectacular about those places and Abeokuta and Akure are just 'ordinary'. Lagos gives Yorubas a false sense of achievement


But the question is, would Lagos have become what it is had the British not made it capital of Nigeria? Would Lagos have become the commercial centre of Nigeria had it not received massive direct and indirect investments by virtue of it being the capital of Nigeria from 1914 to 1991?

Its one thing to own the land, its another to make anything of the land.

The truth is that Lagos is what it is by the commonwealth of all Nigerians, and if people feel they have contributed to a project, its only natural that they feel they have a stake in that project. The paranoia of Yorubas about Lagos is unfounded

THE Indigenous People of Biafra, IPoB, yesterday disowned the alleged female executioner trending on social media, saying she is not IPoB or Eastern Security Network, ESN, member.

The group berated the Federal Government, the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for what it called the latest ‘Nollywood’ movie released to discredit it and ESN.

A statement by IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful,  IPoB among others, said “From the so-called confessional statement of the purported female executioner, she claimed to have joined ESN four months ago, shows that she was handed a very poor script because IPOB stopped the recruitment of ESN operatives since 2020 before our leader formally inaugurated ESN in December 2020.  After the inauguration, there has not been any recruitment of new ESN operatives. IPoB has announced severally via Radio Biafra, Press releases and other media outlets that it has stopped recruitment of new operatives into ESN.

“As the Media and Publicity Secretary of IPoB, I have written several Press releases informing the public and those who may be concerned that ESN does not have any camp in Enugu Ezike. Moreso, Mazi Chinasa Nworu, in more than one of his Radio Biafra programmes anchored by Mazi Chinedu Jonathan, publicly said ESN has no camp in the Enugu Ezike, in Enugu State.

“If for the sake of argument, any camp exists in this locality then that must be one of those camps set up by the Nigerian government collaborators to carry out its evil bidding with the sole objective to blackmail IPoB as in this ludicrous instance of a so-called female executioner. The people of Igboeze North and South know very well that IPoB has no base in their locality.

“The caricature of the so-called female executioner, if it is real, shows clearly that the girl is working with the Nigerian government collaborators to impersonate ESN in Enugu Ezike. A cursory observation of the female executioner in question with her hairstyle tells discerning minds all they need to know. IPOB repudiates every attempt by the Nigerian government through its sponsored collaborators.

“Nigerian government should know by now that IPOB can neither be blackmailed nor be intimidated by the ‘Nollywood’ movies they are acting because they are very predictable and we know their game plans even before they execute them.

“We have always maintained that ESN created by the IPoB leader does not get involved in any form of crime. They are disciplined and dedicated men and women who volunteered to safeguard our land against marauding, invading terrorists in our forests and farmlands pretending to be herdsmen. They protect our people and do not harm them.

“IPoB and ESN abhor any form of criminality generally but more especially in our territory. Crime is not on our agenda. Our agenda remains unchangeable, and we must achieve it by the grace of God Almighty Chukwu Okike Abiama, who controls the universe. Our sole aim is to ensure that Biafra’s freedom is achieved in a peaceful and universally recognized democratic process called a referendum.

“We, therefore, state that anybody linking IPoB and ESN to any form of criminality must be under the influence of drugs or just doing the dirty blackmail job for the Nigerian government. IPoB will not succumb to their sponsored blackmail and propaganda. We have come a long way and cannot be distracted by cheap blackmail on this clarion call to restore the Biafran sovereign nation.”

My condolences to anyone affected by the mayhem in Imo State. Lets hope that the law enforcement agents will do their job and apprehend all those involved

But I have noticed that some people dont care so much about the violence, as they care about misleading people into thinking that IPOB are responsible

For the record, IPOB made it clear they dont have any sit at home order except on the day its leader goes to court. IPOB also went the extra mile of condemning anyone enforcing a sit at home order that does not exist

Just this week, Punch, Vanguard, Dailypost, amongst others, published IPOB's statement from the group's official spokesman, where the group categorically denounced a purported five day sit at home order, and condemned anyone seeking to enforce it. The group even urged people to ignore the order and go about their business

I ask this question because Tinubu and his urchins keep attacking Igbos and making it seem as if Peter Obi is Igbo agenda. I wouldn't have bothered myself knowing that Tinubu is only a drowning man who is desperate to stay afloat, but the fact that some Nigerians don't even understand what is happening.

Anyone who is sensible enough to understand how Nigeria is governed knows that Peter Obi can't possibly do anything more for Igbos than he would do for other Nigerians. If anything, his focus has always been about development of agriculture, poverty alleviation, solving out of school problem, turning around the economy, solving electricity problems etc. Most of these issues affect the North most while the rest are national problems!

I personally don't support Peter Obi because I think he would do anything special for Igbos but simply because he is going to turn the country around for the benefit of everyone.

Before Gen Ironsi’s unification decree in 1966 ,Awolowo’s western region had it’s own busy UK embassy on Great portland st in Central London

It had to be closed down immediately afterwards because of Ironsi’s unification decree and the Federal Government later took over the building

And Gowon came and abolished the Western Region all together, carving out West central State and Lagos State

Obasanjo tried to work his way in granting fiscal autonomy for states in his 1979 constitution but was resisted by northern elements backed by you Igbos.
