Hello guys, you guys have been so helpful. Kudos to Jesusdway, Zandora and everyone else. I have few questions here. I just got married like 3 months ago and i and my wife wants to write the IELTS exam for the express entry programme . The name on her passport hasn't changed, can she still use her passport for ID when putting in for IELTS? Please proceed with the IELTS enrollment in her maiden name, your case is not unusual. Just as many of her other credentials are in her maiden name, a marriage cert and Change of Name newspaper extract will serve as a blanket cover for all credentials in former name when applying for the EE program
Secondly, she's 26yrs, but she has master in public and international affairs and has 3yrs working experience with Lagos state inland revenue service (which I think there's no correlation between what she studied and where she works). This is no problem, besides, there is a correlation cos its public service. Will that have any effect on her points, because I want her to be the PA because of her age and qualification. This is a very good decision
I'm 30yrs, have just BSc in economics and I have 3yrs working experience as a cashier in an hotel, which is on NOC level D or E, but I earn more than her in salary . So, I will also like to know who is in the best position to be the PA. She is, let her prepare harder to score a band 9 above in the IELTS
And lastly, she's 2 months pregnant.i hope that won't give us any kind of delay. No, This is no problem; however, start building funds required for 3 people-CAD$ 18,816. We wish her safe delivery. And in fact, will it be possible for her to give birth in Canada..By God's grace, this is not impossible either, if you start the process now. For example, start building ur account, excel in ur IELTS in one sitting, evaluate your credentials, why not. Thanks

I think wes does not evaluate ACCA or ICAN
See this faq link http://www.wes.org/required/faq/nigeria.asp
And I think I need to send my OND transcripts too as I entered the University through direct entry. Thus, I started from 200 level.
Please JesusDWay, zondora, everybody, am I on the right track here?

I am in the process of registering my account with wes, i don't think they consider professional bodies like ACCA. It was not among the options under academic credentials.

Has anyone evaluated ACCA with wes before? Please let me know.

Thank you, any unilorite here?
WES assess ACCA qualification as equivalent of canadian 3yrs BSc for members and even inactive members of the professional body. This has been said many times here, thus clarified.

ICAN on the other hand, is assessed as 2yrs professional study, sadly, does not qualify as 2 post secondary qualification if an applicant intends to couple it with a BSc.

Zandora.I wrote to WES, they told me they can not rectify it with birth certificate. That they only deal with records from school.
You should have sent an affidavit along the birth certificate to WES to buttress your position. However, the way it is now, i guess you still go ahead and get a court affidavit or notarize a photocopy of ur birth certificate, and include a LoE on this matter when you apply, then pray.

Hello house,in this case,If he use his spouse as the principal applicant since she has a better score won't it work? or must the principal applicant and the spouse( he or she) have band 6 in all the modules.I think the minimum requirement should be that the principal applicant should have a min of 6 in all bands then the spouse a min of 5.5 in all bands.I stand to be corrected tho.this is what somebody told me an immigration agent in canada told him.could it be true?
This is a skilled worker program, you can't apply if you have zero W/E. The min a principal applicant can have is 1year W/E, regardless of Language score.

Thank you very much for the encouragement. I have checked and registered with the edx.com,spent time all night on the site, and you were right! I also registered for ielts again, now for march 5th, thats in two to three weeks time. Thanks again for the encouragement.
Ok, good to hear. but i think you should give yourself more time to study and practice for the exam. IMO, March seems too close, except you are not working and willing to crash study. The exam is easy to pass, but challenging to get the desired max score, in all.

All in all, I advise you revisit your listening practise more and avoid being complacent on the ones you once passed. Go to Ieltsbuddy.com/listening, it is very helpful, there are some hidden links as well. For example, distractors, mapping, multichoice questions and signpost languages. you will find these when you inquire into every link in the listening section.

Second ielts result is out.L7.5R7.5W7.5S5.5. I tire for british council oo. In my first ielts my speaking was 6.5,don't know if i can combine both. Evaluation from wes for me and my wife are ready. Her own scores are okay L9R7.5W7S7. Just that she doesn't have work experience
My brother, it is quite unfortunate you have to re-write the Ielts exam. The reduction in your speaking test could be as a result of a more abstract topic in part 2 & 3 than the first sitting. I urge you not to feel distraughted, most ppl get it right the 3rd time. However, tell your wife to put you through the listening and speaking. God help you if she has been complaining you dont listen well to her..Lol. Reduce your vernacular to each other and encourage better grammar.
Lastly, i encourage you to go to edx.com-Uni of queensland ielts class(speaking), it will be a huge boost to your speaking techniques, for example, how to respond using reasons and examples. Your only regret will be that you did not discover it prior to taking the exam.

The news we have is that Ontario is in debt of like 300Million Dollars(if i get the figure right though), i'm almost of the opinion that they may be using this means to gather funds. It is unprecedented in the history of Canadian immigration that a province will ask for a fee that is more than both application fee and RPRF of the Federal combined. Besides, they have been contacting people to apply since last year June, if they were to have been attending to the files as they come in, do we think the quota won't have been exhausted, considering that Ontario is where lots of peole want to go. Besides, they have said payment of the money doesn't mean you will be nominated. For me, the statistics are more against anyone's chances than in favour of it and as such, i dont advise that people should pay the money except if you have close family ties there and you are probably into IT(the profession get's attraction almost everywhere), and the money is something you didn't struggle to pay and wont be pained if they dont take you at the end of the day, then you may apply to Ontario and pay the money.

Just like you said though, they might make the wife the principal applicant
@JesusDway
Perhaps we have like minds, i have wanted to make such remark but i dont want to start discouraging people here. some of us have worked many years thus can conveniently take that $1500 chance. some of us are in a hurry, while some are desperate, but what some of us dont know is that Canada is as desperate to get migratants in, albeit quality one, which they dont tend to compromise.
Given that, the ontario nomination process initially due to be completed in 90days (which was a good incentive); However, it is taking up to 6months presently. in addition, you gamble $1500 as well as limit yourself to a province conscientiously.
Well..my position is that this canada stuff "dem no they catch late-comer" except you can no more increase your score, IMO, the express entry still validates its name

If this is it, does it mean I can forgo ielts? Because I am.preparing for ielts, hoping to write next month after which I ll start thre process.
Go ahead and write your IELTS exam (General) towards fulfilling language requirement of the Express entry program. I like to reiterate that we dont mix things up here. There is difference in meeting requirements for doc evaluation towards EE and there are requirements to practise in Canada. The aforementioned requirements is what you need to get an ECA for EE. Requirement to practise, however, among the aforementioned you will also need to meet some other requirement which varies according to province, and may include IELTS (academics).

Hi, what I saw on the site was to do ielts first before doc evaluation. Abi I no see well?
No, guess you didnt read it well, from my perspective, it is
step 1: Register on the pharmacists' gateway canada ($325CAD) and get a National identifier number
step 2: Apply for doc evaluation ($550CAD)
step 3: send your docs (transcript, cert....), after 8weeks period of evaluation completed
step 4: Apply for ECA version ($50CAD)

In my opinion, very expensive.

When you are on the page of the first image you attached, click on the "2797743". The next page you see, click on "Document". At that point you will see the stage of your assessment process i.e if your certificate and transcript has been received and accepted.

what you may need to do then, is to expedite action from your institution to respond.

Hi Everyone! I wanna thank you all for the solidarity in bringing me back at this time as i got 6days less the time placed on my ban for an innocent mistake. Special thanks to Etfash, Deesom and all those who championed this, and also to those who have kept the thread alive like Irondome and the rest, of course not leaving out OUR BRAINY ZANDY (you single guys should shine your eyes very well o, especially those who won't be getting ITA soon grin)

Ok so, back to business. For those asking whether ICAN assessment will count towards getting points for 2 or more certificates, please note that any assessment result that does not equate whatever the qualification is as being a degree or a diploma or a certificate, won't get any score under educational factor therefore, ICAN which is being assessed as a professional study does not get scored. The only professional qualification i've seen that falls under the category as defined by CIC is ACCA, as it is assessed to be the equivalent of a 3year degree. Don't waste your time claiming points for 2certificates and at the end of the day when you have gotten ITA, CIC sees your ECA that one of the qulaifications is a professional study and then deduct your score which may then make you score less than the cut-off at that point, thereby rendering your application ineligible. You would have wasted time, hope and also your application fee of 550CAD as every application that doesn't sail through after ITA loses the application fee

Finally, for those interested in Quebec, the application date has been shifted to January 25 which means for those who are yet to open their account online with them still have the grace to do so. Pls note that Quebec charges application fee of 765CAD for principal applicant and 162 i think, for each dependant. Check the link below for the online registration. God bless you all

@JesusDway,
First, welcome back.
Second, i understand your point in your response, but it seems what you said applies to only primary applicant, and if that is the case, i cant agree more with you.
However, in the case of spouse, perhaps it is different.
There is an option for spouse's level of education "Two-year program at a university, college, trade or technical in school, or other institute"
I think this should be okay since ICAN is an institute and it has been assessed as Two years professional study.

@ Oga boss JesusDway! Welcome back sir. Question: Does an unofficial contact email on work reference raise a red flag? Like @yahoo or @gmail
No, it does not raise a redflag, though it validates reasons to inquire more into your W/E claims during background check. it is understandable that some coys, particularly M/SME do not have website, thus, cannot have official email. In this case, a contact via that email may not be used but a physical visit by their agents may be applicable, if all other evidences are not convincing/sufficient.

WES assesses ICAN as "Two years professional study" there has been doubts if it flies as "Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees. One must be for a program of three or more years" for primary applicants.
However, as the primary applicant, i intend to assess my wife's ICAN for spouse's "Two-year program at a university, college, trade or technical in school, or other institute" To this end, will i be able to gain points from her education
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by Garykasparov: 1:53pm On Jan 18, 2016

1) OINP is expected to get completed within 90 days, once an application is certified complete. Ontario will respond to questions from applicants after this period.

2) By 'fly', do you mean higher CRS? Kindly recast.
By "fly" i mean will the ICAN assessed as "Two years professional study" be used to gain points from spouse's education.

In your response, you mean it takes an average of 3months for Ontanrio to nominate you upon accepting their PNP with your complete documentations?

Secondly, WES assesses ICAN as "Two years professional study" there has been doubts if it flies as "Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees. One must be for a program of three or more years" for primary applicants.
However, As the primary applicant, i intend to assess my wife's ICAN for spouse's "Two-year program at a university, college, trade or technical in school, or other institute"

will this fly?

Hi Guys...so for me hubby and myself has done IELTS, Hubby's ECA is completed, Mine is still in the works.

I am an ACCA member and I recently stumbled on some on the Canadian CPA website, there is an MRA between ICAN and ACCA such that you complete an assessment alongside meeting some requirement, then you can apply to become a member and become an CPA member provided you meet all the requirements. I am however skeptical on whether or not I should go ahead with the process.

Has anyone done something like this and it paid off?
Will this boost my chances of getting a PNP?

Please help.
Yes, you can go ahead with the process, albeit quite expensive. its a step in the right direction. Also, the entire process can be completed here, do liaise with CPA British Columbia(international). However, contrary to your statement, i doubt if there is a MRA for ICAN members.

I hope to pursue mine as well when i have the cash and its even least in my priorities now. You can go to linkedIn and search "CPA" and make friends with members and ask all you questions.

It may not boost your application for PNP as it is not a criteria and may not count as education in the province. However, it shows a strong tie to a province you seek their nomination if your CPA is from the same province. e.g CPA Manitoba or CPA sacks.

Note: We update these numbers every year based on 50 per cent of the Low Income Cut-Off totals. If you filled out your Express Entry profile before January 27, 2015, you may have received correspondence that your profile has been reassessed. You may want to double-check that you still have enough money, based on the new cut-off, to support your family if you immigrate to Canada. This change is small but there is a chance it could affect your eligibility.

Secondly, i inquired into your past posts on NL, i see you have a husband, who you have assessed his Bsc. However, has he written ielts? if yes, i will appreciate if you post his result here, if not, he will have to sit the ielts as soon as possible and guide him to score as well as you did, i believe you can mentor him on this, even though it seems to be the most daunting task besides teaching your partner how to drive.

Lets consider this option for now, while you revert.

Hello Deesmom.
Congratulations on your Ontario nomination.
It is easy to tell you to accept the nomination; however, i belong to the school of thought to "think of the end before you begin". you have alot to consider before accepting that nomination. There is a $1500 non-refundable fee, do you have ties/affiliation in ontario? To top all these, your PoF is yet to meet the requirement. Is the process not "dead on arrival"?

if you are yet to exhaust the chances to increase your score, i beg you to wait. but if you have no other option:
1. Decline this nomination.
2. Prepare your funds, when it meets their requirement;
3. Delete your existing profile
4. Re-enter the pool

you will get a nomination almost immediately, then accept.

Caveat though, this is what is obtainable at the moment. Any changes can occur anytime

hello @Garykasparov and other people in the house,

If I get your statement in one of your replies to members questions well, you mean if for example your required POF is N2m, that N2m must have been in your account since six months ago before ITA? I think this only applies to some PNPs and not to the EE pool. Please clarify if otherwise.

Regards
Hello Ramsol00,
Please dont get me wrong, that response is a specific reply to his question. Generally, upon receiving an ITA, amongst other document you have to tender a 6months average balance of the required fund in your account. The required fund does not need to be in your account for 6months. However, if you have a huge inflow during this period, you may be asked to prove it.

Forget about the ACA because WES does not assess professional qualifications. They only assess formal academic training like your secondary and university education.

Also, is Education credential assessment the that costs 200cdn the correct one to apply for?

Many thanks.
Hello Refreshagain,

Go to their website, and ensure its WES canada, it is user-friendly.
1. Open an account
2. fill your details
3. Make payment (yes, around $203)
4. Get a unique number
5. download the transcript request form and fill your part.
6. Send photocopy of your certificate by post with your unique number on the envelop
7.Request your university to send your transcript to WES with the downloaded transcript request form in it.
8. Monitor progress on their site with your account details.

I'm also a Chartered Accountant. i have been practising the two pari passu for years.i want to process the permanent residence to Canada. These are my questions;
1.can i put the two professions in my application? like assessing the two thru WES
2. My first degree is in electrical engineering. can i use only my ACA for the processing? i have Audit firm that can give me the employment letter
3.Which of the two professions do i have more chance?

Thanks and God bless
Hello Chartered Engineer,
Your COREN is a certification which is not assessed towards applying for this program. Secondly, the Express Entry is a skill program, so profession really does not count. What is important is what you have been doing on your job and relate that to a NOC with the same job responsibilities.

The Good news however, is that you will assess your first degree and ACA with WES, but your work experience will be that of an assistance chief engineer, i assume as a level 13 officer, you must have spent more than 3 years in that field.

@zandora and Jesusdway, Thank you for your huge support. However I'd like to ask how long the required funds need to be sitting in my account. my balance has averaged #1.95m since November but I have an urgent need to pull out #500k. my crs manually worked out to be about 450 and that's why I've been stalling on my application. if I pull out the #500k I'd be left with #1.45m in my account but i am very sure that I can get the balance back to over #2m by the end of next month. so how long do you think I should wait before I apply. I don't want to apply now and stand the risk of not having the required funds.
Hello Bigzghe,
If i understand your case properly, you are not yet in the pool because you are avoiding a situation where you enter the pool, get an ITA while you have insufficient bal of PoF, this is a good initiative to play safe, esp. when its difficult to prove your fund which is a common reason for rejection. That being said, You are likely to be invited quite soon with your score, assuming it is correct, if you enter the pool, so it is advised you get your funds ready.

To your question, your fund needs to sit for 6months because an average bal of your required PoF will be requested upon applying.

Lastly, By the end of next month when you say the fund will be complete, since you are playing safe, you can enter the pool as early as the 4th month afterwards and hope to be invited at that time, for, you have 2months grace to honour the invite, so by the time you submit, 6 months statement is ready.

Note though, you can enter the pool now, and decline an ITA if get one and not ready, its not a bad thing and no severe consequences as well.

Yes it does. On the day of your birthday you'll receive an email notification that your mycic account has been updated, once you log on 5 points would've already been deducted. However if you receive and submit your complete application just before your birthday and you have your birthday before a decision has been made on your app, no points would be deducted for age.
Addendum
If you are between the age of 20 and 29, your score will not be reduced. However, i cant say if you will receive an email on CIC update on your birthday.
