Good morning people, so good to be here for the very first time. Please i am applying for immigration (skill worker program) hoping to travel with my husband but he is currently out of the country. I am the principal applicant. I have written my ielts exams and done wes evaluation... I hope my documentation covers for my
husband too. Am yet to submit my application form.. Please any more information i need to know concerning this application.
@Easther25, You are welcome, Good you have done the needful, an additional advice will be to start building your bank account vis-a-vis the amount required by CIC for your number of family(find on Page 0)
Please proceed by applying into the express entry pool, your application will cover you and your family as you must declare them. However, if you need additional points in the pool, you will have to encourage your hubby to sit the IELTS and get his credentials evaluated.

@Hartson, your response was really inappropriate that time.

provincial nomination is the way to go now. Immigrating to canada is getting stiffer day by day.

e be like na to stay Naija b d best.
I absolutely agree with you, and its quite unfortunate. Immigration is becoming stiffer worldwide and that's because of one thing- GLOBAL RECESSION. but the thing is, unlike other past global recessions which was directly attributed to WORLD WARS, this one is a Low-key global deep recession, and in my opinion there is a grand conspiracy to down-play it or worst still conceal it by world powers and media. However, from my personal observation i think the problem is actually SUSTAINABILITY. Resources on earth can no longer serve the growing world population, everything is getting scarce (opportunities, scholarships, full-time jobs e.t.c), all man thinking for himself, Countries thinking for only their citizens and territories e.g BREXIT and the Trump ideology, which makes me think although things will eventually get better, but they will never be like they were before.

Now to Canada Immigration, the bottom line is that they are also in recession, albeit a manageable one. There has been increase in unemployment rate in the country as well, particularly in Alberta. This is one of the many reasons to cut down on economic migrants, even though they need migrants to bring in funds (your PoF), and to boost their ageing population, they can no longer guarantee jobs or rather avoiding pressure on existing job market (weighing this options i believe is still ongoing). In western countries, JOBS is everything, their economy will collapse if otherwise, unlike Nigeria where you are still good without a job for a year plus owing one year house rent.

In my opinion, i think the draws will continue this way for a while. They have increased some of the province allocation to send invites for nomination, as a result, i think the federal has handed much of the process to the Provinces- to invite according to their needs and capacity.

So my people, i believe PNP is the way to go.

Am thinking of submitting for documents for assessment
but i just want to quickly ask some few questions to
enable get the best assessment.

1. I read B.sc (Techn) Microbiology Option and Diploma in
Microbiology from thesame university But both was done
as a part-time program.
2. During this period i was and till working with thesame
large company for about 11years working experience now
though not in area of my academic specialization.
3. My possible related area by academic qualifications are closely listed as
Microbiologist and Quality Control Manage
4. Age point = 34
5. My ielts exams is slated for August.

what are your best advice, what are my chance and do I start the process
Dear Nickoko,
It will do a lot of good if you can give a timeline of your 'work and study' period, so you can get an accurate response. However, you seem qualified to apply. But bear the following in mind:
Firstly, your part time job must not be less than 40hrs a week and for a continuous period, and fall under the required skill type. Also, the work experience gained in the last 10yrs is only applicable.

Your profile is ok, take your test, and if you meet the aforementioned requirements, then apply and indicate that your study was indeed on part-time basis

Thanks to all the experts on this forum, welldone!
I have HND in Accounting, Qualified Accountant(ACA) my question is, under the NOC for professionals, Accountant is not listed as professional bodies. Should i ignored the ICAN certificate? thanks for your reply in advance
Your question is not quite explicit. Ideally, Accountancy as a profession falls under NOC 1111, and if you have been practising as one, whether, auditing, tax, consulting e.t.c, then your NOC is 1111

From experience, if you have evaluated your HND, you do not need to evaluate your ICAN because it wont give you additional points. However, if you can evaluate your OND alongside, you can achieve, 2 or more post secondary school certificate points in your CRS calculation

Hello house. A very good morning to All. Please are there any persons doing this Quebec express entry? I want to try it out but the profile creation is something else! Entirely on French language and my Google chrome browser isn't translating the page! Please I need assistance to create it before on the 16th of this month when it will be opened. Thanks
You shouldnt have any problem translating the pages, it was easy peasy when i tried, once you open 'my Quebec project' it will pop-up at the top right corner of your screen, click on translate or betterstill, click the option arrow, you will be able to open the pages in english by default. finally, check your crome brower settings if all these fails
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by Garykasparov:
I perused the Quebec skilled worker program (QSWP) thoroughly, even though it is quite encouraging to apply, it has some hefty drawbacks.

PROS
1. 5000 APPLICATIONS ARE EXPECTED
2. You can prepare your application on 'My Quebec project" now and submit by August 16th (1:30pm)
3. No federal LIMO POF required, just prove you have fund for first 3 months e.g CAD$5,004 for 3 family members
4. Each child gives you additional points (4) for the pre-qualification points.

CONS
1. More than 33 months (Nigerians) before your application is even reviewed
2. Its a first come, first serve basis, with non-refundable application fee of CAD$773 and CAD$166 for each of other dependants
3. All documents need to be verified/attested by issuing institution (certified true copy)

Hello my people

Please is it okay to send me and my husband transcript with one DHL post or to separate it. Is from different school and we where able to collect it from the schools after they have sealed it. The courier service the school was going to use it will take forever for WES to get it.
Is cheaper if we send it together or what do you think.
As the usual practise, WES specifically request the transcript to be sent directly from the issuing university, Don't be pennywise, pounds..., you can't start cutting corners at this stage of your migration process, There is already a danger the transcripts are in your possession at the moment. Firstly, dont even try to send them both to WES, they will disregard it, and if you send them individually, which is the choice you are left with, that may pose a lengthy verification process to say the least, remember inwards courier packages are documented and the sender recorded, in this case, you. More dis-reputing is the integrity of these universities you were able to intercept their mail.

Send the transcripts individually, hope and pray.

Hello House,
I sent my wife's ICAN credentials to WES for evaluation to achieve 7 additional points for me as the principal applicant, aside the fact that this has taken 3 month, she got a mail yesterday requesting WAEC result.

Is this the norm or should we have included her ATS?
What is the process of requesting WAEC to send transcript to WES? which of their office?

Thank you
My people, this inquiry is still pending.

Hello Everyone, am entirely new here, read all messages and understand to a point, it's so nice to have pple assist and actually show genuine care. My hubby and I re preparing to write our ielts exam, he is the principal applicant..can someone pls do us a favour by listing what to do step by step so one will knw what is next after this..we re applying for Federal skilled workers as we r both bankers, I av 5yrs experience while he has 9yrs, am 31 n he is 33yrs, we both have masters degree...we av submitted our transcript and certificate to WES, they re awaiting verification from our schools.

Please assist in highlighting what to do on a step by step basis.

I will gratefully appreciate a response.

Congrats to everyone who recently made it.

Cheers!
Well done to you guys, you seem to be on the right track, and very well informed too. However, your next step will be to start building your account of the fund required by CIC in tandem with your number of family.

Secondly, your work experience reference. Please work that out now. Remember three things though, the reference letter should meet CIC specification 2. Experience must be within the last 10 years. 3. Your roles in the bank meets the skill type which qualifies for FSW.

Thirdly, Ensure you excel in your respective IELTS exams, particularly you, because your hubby is already trailing you by 10points cos of his age.

Goodluck!

Good morning guys, am new here, av gained a lot reading this thread, i follow the canada study thread, am currently waitn for my trv, but my question is i want to apply for pr for my mum, she has visited canada twice, she is a nurse with bsc, masters and professional degrees nd over 25yrs experience, am confused as to which way to use, i see pple talkn about express entry or provincial nominations, can sum1 plsss explain which route to use for her.

Also if sum1 already has trv for study permit, can he stil apply for express entry if he is eligible, whether he is in nigeria or canada.

Thank you for your responses, God bless you
Your questions are quite technical, and may require seniors' input. However, per your mum, i believe she can apply, though her score will be adversely affected by her age, so a provincial nomination may be her route particularly if her visits to canada were to these province.

Kindly sought a second opinion on your other question. However, i know you can apply when you start studying in canada if you have existing work experience, but applying for PR before travelling can complicate your landing procedures.

I don't think its a crime to be a novice, I am a graduate of computer science. I want to enroll for the FSW. pls I need someone helpful to please put me through. I want to know if am eligible or not. thank you
Hello,
Did anyone ever accuse you of being a novice?
Kindly go to the first page of this thread for guildlines, you can only evaluate your eligibility if your have a minimum of 1 year work experience and have sat the IELTS exam further to being a graduate.

Please i would like to apply for canada express entry program but my fear is, if I should apply for a study visa later, perhaps if my EE application isnt successful, could my initial EE application be used as grounds that I am not likely to leave canada at the end of my studies? Thus ruining my chances of ever securing study visa?
Yes, reasonably it will impede your chances to secure a study visa. However, you have to be clever about this. Note that not until you have been invited from the EE pool, and you apply, is it deemed to impede your study visa chances, existing in the pool does not.

Lastly, if you have a good score enter the pool and pursue your PR, then further your studies afterwards with cheaper tuition, so it is a win-win situation. Be optimistic your EE application will be successful which means you wouldn't need to apply for study visa.

Good day, please i have a question concerning pof. i am the PA but my POF will be by presenting a fixed deposit certificate in my husband's name. Pls can i use only the fixed deposit certificate as i do not want to include his bank statement as the POF was a huge sum lodged singly in to his account by a friend.
Please will i be ok by this as i have started becoming worried concerning this.
My advice will be that you refix the money in both of your names, go to any of the banks, you dont even need to have an existing account and refix it.

Yes, only FD certificate can suffix, and a bank statement may not be requested if there isnt a doubt on the reasonableness of the value vis-a-vis your source(s) of income

There isnt any problem if you have a huge sum lodged in the account as long as you can prove it is from a source deemed acceptable by IRCC

Hi Garykasparov, please what study materials did you use and how long did you prepare for? I need help with my Reading and Writing ( Reading especially). I have 3wks to the exam and getting worried. Please advise on details on prep materials.
Well...to address this questions i would say www.ieltsbuddy.com is a one-stop shop for IELTS preparation, though you have to navigate the site thoroughly and study the tips/strategies. For example, for me, the day i learnt about distractors in Listening was the turn-around for me. Also, i ordered the cambridge book on amazon.uk for my Listening practise (it has 8! listening practice) cos that was where my biggest weakness lied.

For Reading, it seems more like an I.Q test to me, sorry to say. it is the easiest of all, albeit, tricky and time-challenging. A good, consistent, practise will overcome this. One thing though, sink-in, understand the comprehension all the way. Another is, identify which aspect you find challenging the most, guess there are 8 segments, Heading paragraph and yes/no, not given seems the toughest, work on them. Note: zero-tolerance to misspelling.

For Writing, my mantra for success was reviewing the marking criteria https://takeielts.britishcouncil.org/sites/default/files/IELTS_task_2_Writing_band_descriptors.pdf
you will understand what is expected of you. Google search that of task 1 as well. Each of the outlined requirement in Task 1 should have a paragraph and atleast two points/reasons in each so as to extend your answers.
For task 2, you should have 4 body paragraphs and 6 in all. with each having a clear central point, an example/experience/reason or comparism in it and explaining them, dont forget coherence/cohesion, furthermore, also, in addition,e.t.c. Most of our sentences in essays will be complex sentences, practise including short simple sentence as well as compound sentences (FANBOYS) to connect your sentences.
Find here: http://www.ieltsbuddy.com/sentence-structure.html

For speaking, go to edx.org, search for "Uni of Queensland IELTS Preparation" is a good start and practise with spouse or some other people who must have reviewed the marking criteria http://takeielts.britishcouncil.org/find-out-about-results/ielts-assessment-criteria so you can be assessed properly. Again, practise makes perfect here.

I dont think you like to hear how long it took me to prepare, but, for all its worth, it took me 8months, though not intense, i studied almost everyday from the day i saw my last result (the score, of which indicted how much more i needed to try), given that, i wasnt studying only to pass the IELTS anymore, but to improve my english proficiency in general - it became a way of life!. The reason i am always surprised when i see peeps enrolling for the next available date, achieving all band 9 is not childs play. i enrolled when i was happy with my preparation and scoring 37/38 in Listening which eventually was my score in the real exam (8.5).
