As we all know, Operating Systems treat disks as objects that can be trusted not to change state without any activity prompt. When reading or writing files, OSs expect the files to remain accessible and not suddenly disappear in mid-read or mid-write process. When a file is open, a program reading the file expects to be able to return to it and continue reading. Similarly, write commands may be dispatched to a writing subroutine and forgotten by the main program, so if a drive disappears between the time the subroutine is called and the data is written to disk, that data is lost forever. Long before the advancement of technology like we have today, there were formal processes to physically “mount” and “unmount” storage media, and the physical act of mounting a tape or a disk triggered some mechanical switch to detect the presence or absence of media. Once the mechanism was engaged, the software could start to use the media (a “soft mount”). Some media even had mechanical interlock to prevent media from being ejected or removed until the software finished processing, and then using the media released the lock. The Macintosh floppy and optical disk provide more modern examples of an interlocked physical and soft mount. One could only eject media through a software command, but that command might fail if some program was holding a file open on the medium. Enter USB connected storage. There is no mechanical interlock in a USB connection to coordinate the hard and soft mount. The user can decide to rip the disk out of the system at any time, and endure all manner of programs freaking out about the sudden loss of media. Though there are implications of ripping a disk pack out of an operating system without a prompt command. These effects range from; Lost of data, to corrupted files, crashing programs, hanging computers requiring a reboot etc. A safe removal executes the “soft unmount” needed to prevent any unexpected Bad Things that may happen if a program loses its access to media. Whereas, a due process or safe removal, does the following; 1. It flushes all active writes to disk. 2. It alerts all programs that are built to be alerted, that the disk is exiting, prompting them to take appropriate action. 3. Lets the user know when programs fail to take action, due to certain mechanical, programme malfunction etc and still are holding files open. A disk can always be removed at any time we choose to, but that action leaves us at the mercy of how well, programs using the disk, cope with the sudden disappearance of that disk. In the modern computer, many steps have been taken to defend against the careless removal of media. For instance, Windows has a feature called “Optimize for Quick Removal” which makes sure data is written quickly, instead of written in batches since it's difficult to get people to change habits. Incomplete list indeed, haven't you heard of buchi farms in kaduna or Makama farms in kogi? Both are large though the latter fits more into your list because it's owned by a politician from ordolu, kogi state. |
According to reports reaching us, President Buhari is upset over the disdain accorded the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the various positions to be filled in both chambers of the National assembly. While both chambers have announced an adjournment till 21st July, Buhari’s list of ministerial nominees will also be delayed for at least one month or even till after the Ramadan fasting period. Speaking through another media aide, Garba Shehu, he blamed the NASS crisis as been the cause of the delay. President Buhari has also appointed only one out of the 15 special advisers approved for him by the 7th Senate under the leadership of Senator David Mark, he is Mr. Femi Adesina, special adviser to the President on media and publicity. The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Linus Awute, and other notable figures in the ministry, were interrogated for hours by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC), over the Ebola spending. Though they were later released, they will be reporting back at a later date with necessary documentation showing how the N1.9 billion naira released to the ministry was expended. source; http://www.naijareporters.com/2015/06/ebola-splurge-alert.html

The President of Nigeria Mohammadu Buhari and the APC must understand that Nigerians gave them the mandate to indulge in solution provoking exercises in a bid to kill the many challenges facing the country as they promised during the campaigns. The PDP through its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh said it is unfortunate that President Mohammadu Buhari and the APC, who were privy to the nation’s dwindling economy occasioned by global economic downturn and fall in international oil price, even before the start of the campaigns, chose to deceive Nigerians with bogus promises, only to now resort to excuses after using those promises to secure power at the center. He stated in a statement on Tuesday that the party notes with dismay, President Buhari’s statement on Monday that Nigerians should not expect much from his first 100 days in office on claims that he met “virtually an empty treasury and huge debts," noting that such only underlines the fact that the present administration is really not equipped to face the challenges of governance. We Nigerians are willing to support and cooperate with the President, but are worried about the situation of things and the way they started. The APC is not in any way inspiring hope in the citizenry, especially as they have continued to show themselves as a divided front as we have seen in the past few days. Ever since electoral victory, the APC and the President have continued to expose their lack of commitment towards their campaign promises or how else can one reconcile President Buhari’s statement with the recent ridiculous and misleading claim by APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed that this administration has achieved in three weeks what the immediate past administration could not achieve in five years? Nigerians can also recall that in their attempt to find an escape route from one of their bogus campaign promises, the APC denied that the President ever promised Nigerians he will end insurgency two months after inauguration but threw in the towel after the PDP confronted them with the April 22, 2015 CNN interview where Buhari made that promise. He restated the PDP's resolve to engage only in credible and issue-based opposition, "we want the President and the APC to unveil their economic roadmap and blueprint for governance so as to enable us go through a robust opposition, provide credible alternatives and options for their policies and programmes in the overall interest of our dear nation." Roberto Firmino has become one of the more sought after footballers in Europe after consistently good performances for the German side in the last two seasons. His performances earned him a Brazil call up and in the bid to strengthen their squad for the next season, Manchester United and Liverpool were in contention for his signature. Liverpool however, appear to have won the race and on paper, are looking quite like the side to beat next season. Liverpool going after Firmino makes the Brazilian midfielder, their of several signings in this summer after agreeing to a transfer fee of 28 million euros with Hoffenheim as they already have the services of James Milner and Danny ings to go with the signing of Bogdan and youngster, Joe Gomez and are looking at the possibility of finalizing the transfer before the week runs out even though Firmino is currently at the Copa America in Chile with Brazil. Firmino would not want to be distracted by the transfer move as with the absence of Neymar, the Hoffenheim man alongside the actual Liverpool man, Phillipe Coutinho would be carrying an enormous responsibility going into the quarterfinals of the Copa America. Firmino will undergo medicals after Brazil's Copa America involvement is concluded when the deal will be sealed. Roberto Firmino is also the reds second most expensive signing after Andy Carroll.
