Some riders no send o. At Lekki, I once entered a very deep flood when going to pick a rider & taking him out of the street to the main road. I turned off AC before I entered the water, turned it back on like 3 mins later but it affected my AC. The guy didn't show any concern. I spent so 15k, time & energy on the matter. The trip no even enter 1k. It's business. |

So it’s my first week of Uber driving and these are the lessons learnt :
So many people living above their means so as to please people (especially in Lekki, but what do I know ? It’s all about faking it till they make it )
There are lots of undocumented extremely comfortable people in Nigeria , they don’t care about the price just deliver !
Uber will make you meet people you planned meeting in ten years ( whatever comes off it is up to you , some would want your service on offline but it depends on your carriage and rapport )
Uber itself is a morale , career booster ! ( met a young fella into software programming and development , same thing I am into ... he told me some one or two things , some websites to secure very high paying Jobs )
There are very toxic and extremely selfish people that don’t care about you or your car , they just give you directives like they are your parents (met a woman that keeps nagging and querying me about why I was driving too fast , then too slow , that i want Uber to take all her money , funnily it was just a 600N trip and she wanted me to go through the worst of roads )
Lots and lots that I can’t put here for some passenger privacies ( met an associate of the guy that got a popular blogger pregnant which was the talk of the town at that moment ... from the phone calls among other things was where I deduced things )

4 years ago, one of my pioneer clients, came in with a sharp Mdx 2006 with mileage @ 61,000miles. We did routine servicing which included differential oils, transmission oil coolants etc.
Fast forward 4years later and 40,000miles car came for normal servicing, I thought about the timingbelt age, but dismissed it because of the mileage. Client received a clean bill of health and headed off.
Three weeks later he was on his way to oyo when the car went off suddenly! He called and I recommend the vehicle be towed to workshop.
I was inquisitive and before I examined the car I ran the vin, (thanks to carguide) the findings were shocking!
in 2015 mileage of vehicle was 182,000miles!!
After that I examined the vehicle and confirmed the snapped timing belt and damaged valve system.
Summary, always ensure you have confirmed vehicle mileage, and replace parts according to manufacturer recommendations.

My beef with civic.
1. Poor ground clearance
2. No space to work on basic components
3. sensitive gearbox.
4. Engine drop is from the bottom (for a sedan that's cruel)
5. Location of components
6. Very delicate sensitive fusebox (engine side)
7. Internal fusebox is a module on its own and tied to the key and immobiliser. Any kazeemization near fuel pump or any unholy wire joining, u done jonze be dat.
8. Poor resale value

do holistic survey of the pricing of both vehicles on NAIRALAND, u will be amazed...
when my colleague finally told me how much she budgeted for the civic, I just respected myself and told her that I'm not doing again...
to me sha, I wouldn't drive a civic or a corolla....

For me that corolla is a minature big for nothing... Like shrinked/stripped down version.. So why should i pay more for less, that is what i can't get my head around.. Instead i will pay less for more(camry)
When i was looking for a car to buy.. I was actually looking for the 07 & above civic, but unfortunately that was when uber was booming so suddenly the civic price went up and i like what!!!!! Never!!! I can't pay that much for civic, upped my budget a little & went for a full option accord instead . Fixed |
