naturalwaves: I see. Is that the same type of compressor that comes with the 2014 Hyundai Accent? A friend drives the 2006 model and I think his own mileage should be higher. Will ask him. I used a 2007 rio(same with accent a.c system) I sold it at over 250,000km on same compressor. The older brands are durable. |

naturalwaves: Well, I don't think I covered more than 15,000km. What's the issue with the compressor? Kindly elucidate. poor design across board. I have never seen any of them get to 100,000km any kia or hyundai with VDC variable displacement compressor. |

Car Talk › Re: How Durable Is Hyundai Sonata 2013 by GAZZUZZ(m): 11:34pm On Jun 12, 2017 |
naturalwaves: I beg to disagree. Hyundai is not a failure. I drove the Hyundai Accent 2014 model for at least a year and it was top notch. Even the 2006 model Accent is so strong and rugged. The Accent was regarded as one of the best sedans in its size category beating the Honda civic and Toyota yaris of the same year hands down. Hyundai vehicles are underated here. Moreover, I have driven a lot of Toyota s and Honda etc but funny enough, Hyundai gave me the best driving experience. The only thing I don't like about the recent versions is just the fibre plastic. Aside that, the vehicles are cool and does not deserve this kind of critism even though you may have your reservations. How many miles did you cover in 1year? That compressor did not make it to 50,000km find out. |

Mumu A.C, the stupid design would have died out befor the car hits 50,000 KM VDC in general on hyundai/kia is a failure.
Crash test will be ok nah, see as the nose long like train
This vehicle comes in several variants. The V6, 2.4liter GDI and 2.4 liter fuel injection. There might be more but those are what I have seen. The fuel injection 2.4liter is repair friendly.

Charlssey: Good evening Gazzuzz. Pls I have a budget of 1.2 million for a Nigerian used vehicle (Accord, civic, Camry or Corolla; all 4 cylinder engines). Will you be willing to recommend and/or aid in procuring one for me in Lagos? I'll be glad to pay for your services. I reside outside Lagos but I don't mind being physically present if you insist. You will have to see, feel possibly drive and negotiate price before I can come in, My job will be to check vehicle integrity Only.
For your current budget a sound corrola or camry will not be easy to get, but an accord or a civic in top form would be easy to find.

How? 1. By fining okada riders' passengers along with the okada riders. If I could be hauled into a waiting KAI van for attempting to cross an expressway, why can't passengers of okada riders on restricted routes be arrested for being accomplices to breaking the state traffic law?
When prospective okada passengers realise that they may be fined for riding okadas on illegal routes along with the riders, they would have a rethink before engaging one. OP I hope you know Ambode is on NL?
Nice suggestions. I see them on college Rd every evening on the wrong side of traffic with 2 passengers.
Sadly if caught, they pay 5k to get it back immediately, or 8k to get it back later on |

DatechMan: They said the brainbox is not scanning there's no way of installing a new engine ecu if the current connection is not functional. You will require extensive. Diagnosis on the electrical harness first to figure out why there is no communication. After fixing communication issues, then scan vehicle, pull codes post here and we can continue. |

Car Talk › Re: Just Bought a used Toyoto Corolla 2006 by GAZZUZZ(m): 11:56am On Jun 12, 2017 |
DatechMan: I don't want to create another thread so that people can know how we got here.
I have been using the car since last year after so many challenges. Here is the latest.
On a good Saturday. I was going to work with the car and suddenly after a 1km journey the car stopped. I thought it was fuel outage, so I rushed to buy a gallon of petrol. After pouring in the whole gallon, the car refused to start still. I soon discovered that non of the lights/indicators(e.g battery, engine oil, check, airbag) on the dashboard is showing. So I thought it was an electrical fault.
I called on a nearby rewire to help fix this. After he had spent 1+ hours troubleshooting, he said the fuse box is faulty(a black box on the left side of the steering). He went with it and came back in another 45 minutes. Although my battery had run flat and so we had to wait for another 45 minute for a friend to bring a battery. After he had install the fuse box, we tested the car with the new battery. These were the discoveries. 1. The car kicked 2. All the indicators on the dashboard showed but refused to leave even after the car engine was running 3. Removing the battery from the car immediately shut down the engine
As the battery was not charging, the guy after some minutes of troubleshooting said that the alternator is faulty.
Then I realized the guy might be incompetent. Then I called my usual rewire to come and help fix the car. Note that my usual rewire will take at least 1 hour to reach the car which was one of the reasons I didn't call him earlier.
After my rewire checked the car, he fixed the charging issue because the alternator was not actually faulty. He also fixed the dashboard lights and they were responding fine. But, a much bigger problem persists up till now.
When the engine is running, you cannot raise(rev) the car, it just behaves as if it wants to shut down the engine in like a way as if the fuel is not coming out or something. Since last upper week Saturday the car has been grounded.
The issue is not fuel pump as new fuel pump as been bought. Someone says the issue is brainbox( only if we can get one to test). I'm seriously confused.
Guru in the house abeg help a brother. gazzuzz mayor2013 kingreign, lexusgs430, chynx, Siena, Ikenna351 when you scanned what we're the results?
I have fixed this same issue on corrola's, twice this year. Diagnosis is key before part replacement. |
Car Talk › Re: Turbochargers Vs. Superchargers: What’s The Difference? by GAZZUZZ(m): 11:15am On Jun 12, 2017 |
EgunMogaji: Just a general note of information to correct some glaring errors on this write up.
1) both super and turbo chargers compress air and thus the compressed air needs to be cooled before it's useful to the engine
2) both super and turbo chargers use bearings and thus they need to be oiled. You can get oil that is not plumbed from the crankcase or from a source directly on the accessory.
Of my two Mini Coopers, one is supercharged and the other is turbocharged. They both have factory intercoolers.
To answer a Gazzuzz question, in the aftermarket realm, there are custom cars that all the accessories that hangs off of the crankshaft are clutched. Alternator, water pump (some now use electric water pumps), etc
If anyone wants to really learn these subjects, then I recommend to read on established websites of people with direct and hands on experience like this one http://www.superchargersonline.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=13
I continue to understand now why perfectly good vehicles enter Nigeria and become scrap. and you are asking what an FOB is? |

scarr: Boss please is this person a car dealer or he just happens to have the Corolla you recommended?
I want to buy a Honda civic or city (>2000) and I'm based in Abuja. Distance from home to office is 60km(to and fro) with little or no traffic at all. I choose civic/city because of the maintenance cost, compactness and small engine which I equate to fuel efficiency.
Am I on the right track? Please advice accordingly. He is an automotive technician.
Civic or city is a good choice |
