If you have a CDR/W drive, insert a blank CD or DVD, open your favourite CD burner software, select your documents and other files, burn them to CD.

Now if anything happens to your laptop nad you need to re-install, you have your documents on a CD or DVD.

Oh and yes, you might try system restore but keep in mind that most times, system restore will tell you it can't go back to the previous state.

Jogego, is this the only way you do the backing-up? by burning into cd only or there are other ways??

Ynot, i have done the system restore, it did the restoring but the speakers still did not work so i undid the restore and put it bck to d one i am currently using, so now i think i'll take Jogego's advise by restoring it bck to factory settings once he tell me if there are other ways of doing the backing up of the softwares on my laptop, reply back guys

Jogego and Ynot, can you guys pls tell me how i can backup my files on my Toshiba Satellite Pro b4 reformatting it and Ynot, the OS is Windows XP

Before you format the system, do a System Restore (thats, if you're using XP). Restore to the point (date) when the problem occurred. If its a software problem, that will(?) fix it. For hardware, you will have to go a different route. To perform System Restore:

click Start--->(all)Program--->Accessories-->System Tools--->System Restore then follow the screen.

If you still have the problem, lets know and don't forget to post your OS type.

Hey Ynot, thanks for ur reply, i was abt to ask jogego how to go about backing up my stuffs, is a system restore the same thing as backing up, if i do the system restore, does that mean i av done a back up of wat i av installed on my laptop

I don't support going down this route myself. Did you install any new hardware or software? Can you go into your laptop's Bios and check that the speaker are not muted in the Bios? I don't know how to get into the Bios in toshiba but in IBM you have to hold down the F1 button while starting the notebook up.

If all that is okay, then if you have your restoration CD, back up your stuff and restore the laptop to factory settings( Note, this will delete and format your hard disk so you need to back up all your stuff.) This should restore your speakers, if not, its a hardware fault.

Thanks jogego, i'll try that as soon as possible and give you a feedback, i have actually installed a whole lot of softwares on the laptop

Change to either Glo or V-mobile, i don't know if u can use MTN 2 browse on your phone and if you can, you probably have to take it to an MTN office for them to give you the configuration settings which they will have to save on your phone b4 you can get to browse on your phone without that configuration, you cannot browse, so go to an MTN office close to you 2 get that done man

Look, without mtn, vmobile and glo networks, you would not be able to access the internet thru your phone in the first place to get the ringtones thru wap, secondly, they do not charge but their tones sucks, they aren't chasis as you think they are, what we really need are true tones, tones that will sing out and not these polyphonic tones that sounds like mosquitoes and they also at times do not sound like the real songs itself except for like the "turn me on" tone and we need very good message tones as well apart from the crazy annoying frog .

This is a very good forum question you just asked. I believe those people on Play TV are crooks gurl, i use glo and anytime, they wanna start the programme, i credit my phone always with N2,000 to play, but i always play only a particular game, so that i can send the text and answers so many times and be able to win, but i always don't end up winning, think of it urself, N100 per sms, and i have N2,000 credit on my phone which i use to answer the question and still yet, i don't win.

They are only interested in collecting our money gurl, i av become tired of the programme, i don't participate in it anymore cos i av actually wasted a lot of money on the so called PLAY TV, we are only making the phone networks more richer, V-mobile, Glo and Econet, and dats why you see that they make the money to be won so much, people will get mad and start txting all over Lagos or probably the whole of Nigeria. To answer your question, they are taking the maximum and full advantage of the masses gurl, they are using us to chop, no bi small thin, thank God i av stopped participating, i did participate for like two, three weeks, always rushing home to watch the freaking programme with my phone loaded with credit to chop awoof money.
